The Truth Behind Costco’s $5 Rotisserie Chicken
Image Source: Flickr user terren in Virginia
We can always count on Dr. Oz to expose the truth about our favorite foods. He recently investigated the hidden ingredients in rotisserie chicken, and now we finally know why it's so addictive. He teamed up with award-winning writer Mark Schatzker to figure out why Americans can't get enough of the stuff, especially Costco's $5 rotisserie chicken.
The first shocking piece of information is that rotisserie chicken is often processed, in other words, "pre-seasoned in factories," and then shipped to supermarkets, where "an employee can put it on the skewer and cook it." You may already know part of what makes store-bought rotisserie chickens so tasty is that they're on the salty side, but the skin is also flavored with MSG and sugar, among other natural flavors. Similar to potato chips, this combination helps explain why we can never have too much rotisserie chicken. Despite the seemingly scariness of it all, Dr. Oz says it may be "one of the healthiest processed foods out there." And in similar Dr. Oz. fashion, he suggests taking off the skin to keep it healthier. But if that sounds like insanity, add other sides to your plate to avoid overeating.

10 Reasons Emma Watson Is Having a Magical 2017
Emma Watson has come back into the spotlight in a big way this year, and we couldn't be more excited. After saying goodbye to her role as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter movies back in 2011, the actress starred in a few low-key films while going back to school and slowing down her schedule. But she stepped into another beloved role this year when she joined Disney's live-action Beauty and the Beast as Belle. And her role as the Disney princess isn't the only way she's inspired us this year. The self-declared feminist has continuously spoken up for gender equality both in Hollywood and politics, and seeing that it's only March, 2017 is shaping up to be a great year for the star.

He started his YouTube channel two years ago to share his hacks and secrets for nurturing his mane. But his most recent video caught the attention of Instagram hair community Natural Hair Dreams and catapulted him from 1,000 subscribers to 24,000 and counting.
So just why are we captivated by Gio? Well, for starters, he's practically related to Princess Moana (you have seen those curls, right?). But he's also super knowledgeable of products and techniques that guys and girls with natural hair can try at home.
In his viral routine, he broke down his three-step wash-and-go process using drugstore staples from Shea Moisture and Tresemmé. He also showcased how he styles and air dries his hair to achieve the most perfect coils. If Gio's tutorial doesn't inspire you to let your ringlets roam free, we don't know what will! Kate Middleton's Royal Look Didn't Happen Overnight - Here's the Proof
When Kate Middleton exited Westminster Abbey on her wedding day, she walked straight into her new life as a key member of the royal family, leaving behind many of her single-girl style staples. The flirty and floaty dresses, low-cut evening gowns, tousled locks, and thigh-skimming minis became a thing of the past, as she forged her way ahead with a more demure, duchess-worthy wardrobe. However, since her first year as a royal, Kate has been finessing her look to become something that is suitable for a future queen, sure, but also stays true to who she is. We take a look at how Kate's fashion choices have evolved from her first tentative year as the duchess of Cambridge to a more self-assured mom of two.
The Best Total-Body Workout That You're Probably Not Doing
The rowing machine is getting more and more use lately, as many fitness enthusiasts are discovering the power of this surprisingly simple (but crazy effective!) workout. CrossFit boxes love incorporating rowing into their programs, and boutique rowing studios are starting to pop up in major cities, but for some reason, we're still seeing empty rowing machines at the gym.
To find out a little bit more about what makes rowing so amazing, we talked with a couple experts - Kevin O'Connell, coach at Reebok CrossFit ONE, and Dino Adelfio, instructor at Row Club rowing studio in San Francisco - and we took a class ourselves. Holy. Cow. That class was hard, but incredible! We were definitely feeling the burn the next day (hello, quads!).
Here are four reasons you should try rowing now:
- It's a Total-Body Workout: Did you know that rowing uses 86 percent of the muscles in your body? That's pretty hard to beat. Plus, rowing is a cardio workout, which burns major calories and leads to a healthier heart.
- It's efficient: Adelfio told us that NASA astronauts train with rowing, because it's so efficient. Thirty minutes of rowing can have the same physical impact as 90 minutes of cycling, so if you're short on time, skip Spin and head to the gym for a quick session.
- It's versatile: The moves you do in rowing "carry over to the mechanics of other movements" outside the gym, explains O'Connell. CrossFit founder Greg Glassman defines this as "universal recruitment patterns," a characteristic of Functional Movements. When we took our first rowing class, we experienced firsthand how the rowing movement breaks down into squat and front row, working many different muscle groups.
- It's injury-safe: O'Connell says that with rowing, "there is minimal impact loading, so it is safe for individuals that may have had ankle, knee, or hip injuries." NOTE: make sure to keep the damper - which controls the resistance - set to 5 and no higher!
Ready to get started? Here's how to start using the rowing machine. If you're more familiar with the machine, try our rowing interval workout.

Will Smith Has Basically Turned Into Uncle Phil From The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
In the words of Will Smith, the world has officially flipped and turned upside down. The actor recently shared a video of himself bungee jumping, and aside from having the time of his life, he basically channeled his former The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air costar James Avery (Uncle Phil). No, seriously. From the silver beard to the bald head, we can't get over how much he looks like the late actor, who sadly passed away in 2013, in this screenshot from his video. Your Ultimate Guide to Mastering Denim on Denim
The denim on denim trend (aka the Canadian Tuxedo) has been around for years now, but maybe you haven't mustered up the courage to try it . . . yet. This Is How All Your Favorite Chefs Cook Bacon
If you believe that bacon is one of the world's greatest treasures, you're going to want to keep reading. While you obviously know how to make bacon (either in a skillet or in the oven), you might not realize how many other cooking methods there are that can make it even more delicious. Allow us to offer you some bacon-making inspiration from some of our favorite celebrity chefs, from brining to glazing and more. You might just find your new go-to breakfast recipe.
Ina Garten: Oven Roasted
Sometimes Ina Garten, Food Network queen, goes for simplicity over complexity, as evidenced by her oven-roasted bacon recipe. That five-star rating doesn't lie, either. If you've got store-bought applewood smoked bacon, you're just a simple technique away from perfectly crispy bacon.
Michael Symon: From Scratch
Chef Michael Symon doesn't mess around when it comes to bacon. His homemade bacon recipe starts with five pounds of skin-on pork belly, which is then coated in a spice rub and refrigerated for up to 10 days. While that seems like a lot of work, it's worth the effort if you love bacon. One commenter wrote, "This recipe rocks! It was well worth the 10 day wait. I followed it to a T and it was delicious. Better than the bacon I get from the butcher." If you've ever wanted to attempt entirely scratch-made bacon, this recipe is a keeper.
Alex Guarnaschelli: Candied
If your idea of good bacon involves sweet, salty, and sticky, you need Alex Guarnaschelli's candied bacon recipe. Thanks to a coating of finely ground black pepper and light brown sugar, the slow-roasted bacon develops a saucy coating that's finger-licking good.
Alton Brown: Brined For 3 Days
With a brine made of sugar, salt, molasses, and apple cider, Alton marinates raw pork belly for three days to achieve his Iron Chef's bacon results. Once the meat is ready, Alton's tip for baking the bacon in the oven is to line the pan with paper towels to soak up the fat and prevent smoking.
Bobby Flay: Maple-Dijon Glazed
Bobby Flay's maple-dijon- and black-pepper-glazed bacon is next level. By combining the flavors of maple syrup, dijon mustard, and smoked bacon, you'll get a sweet-salty-tangy bite that's hard to resist.
The Simple Reason Prince William Doesn't Wear a Wedding Ring
When Prince William proposed to Kate Middleton in 2010, he gave her the stunning 12-carat oval blue Ceylon sapphire ring that his late mother, Princess Diana, wore during her marriage to Prince Charles. And when the two tied the knot in a lavish ceremony in London in 2011, Kate added a gold band to sit perfectly next to her sparkler. But despite the duchess of Cambridge's new jewelry, there was no big exchanging of rings, because Prince William never got one. The reason? It's just not his style. Shortly before the couple's big day, the palace released a statement about his decision to ditch tradition and go ringless, saying, "It is simply down to personal preference. It was something the couple discussed but Prince William isn't one for jewelry." Seeing as how William and Kate are one of the most famous couples on the planet, they would be hard-pressed to find someone who wasn't aware of their sweet romance. So there you have it.

Hayden Panettiere's Hilarious Reaction to Her Toddler Peeing on a Plane Floor
Aaaand then ur daughter pees on the floor of the airplane bathroom 🙈 But look at that baby girl helping momma clean 😂 http://pic.twitter.com/I1NttxBnMT
- hayden panettiere (@haydenpanettier) March 13, 2017
Hayden Panettiere is learning the hard way that potty-training a toddler is a little slice of hell on earth, but luckily she's taking us all on the hilarious ride through social media. While in the trenches cleaning her 2-year-old daughter's pee off of an airplane bathroom floor, Panettiere stopped to share a hysterical photo of her and Kaya on Twitter.
"Aaaand then your daughter pees on the floor of the airplane bathroom," Panettiere captioned her tweet. "But look at that baby girl helping momma clean."
The Nashville star, who opened up in 2016 about her struggle with postpartum depression, has us completely cracking up with her universal "what the hell did I get myself into" expression. Ah, toddlers - you can't help but laugh at them, even when they're peeing everywhere but the toilet.

The 1 Change Prince William and Kate Middleton Made to Their Wedding Vows
Prince William and Kate Middleton said their "I dos" in a gorgeous ceremony at Westminster Abbey in London in April 2011. There were so many beautiful moments to behold from their big day, but one that really had us in tears was when the couple recited their wedding vows. While Will and Kate exchanged traditional wedding vows from the Book of Common Prayer, they made one slight tweak - they removed the word "obey." The first royal bride to drop the word was William's late mother, Princess Diana, who omitted it when she married Prince Charles in 1981. Check out their wedding vows in full below.
Archbishop: "William Arthur Philip Louis, wilt thou have this woman to thy wedded wife, to live together according to God's law in the holy estate of matrimony? Wilt thou love her, comfort her, honor and keep her, in sickness and in health; and, forsaking all other, keep thee only unto her, so long as ye both shall live?"
Prince William: "I will."
Archbishop to Catherine: "Catherine Elizabeth, wilt thou have this man to thy wedded husband, to live together according to God's law in the holy estate of matrimony? Wilt thou love him, comfort him, honor and keep him, in sickness and in health; and, forsaking all other, keep thee only unto him, so long as ye both shall live?"
Kate Middleton: "I will."
Archbishop: "Who giveth this woman to be married to this man?"
PW: "I, William Arthur Philip Louis, take thee, Catherine Elizabeth to my wedded wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse; for richer, for poorer; in sickness and in health; to love and to cherish, till death us do part, according to God's holy law; and thereto I give thee my troth."
KM: "I, Catherine Elizabeth, take thee, William Arthur Philip Louis, to my wedded husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse; for richer, for poorer; in sickness and in health; to love and to cherish, till death us do part, according to God's holy law; and thereto I give thee my troth."
Archbishop: "Bless, O Lord, this ring, and grant that he who gives it and she who shall wear it may remain faithful to each other, and abide in thy peace and favor, and live together in love until their lives' end. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen."
PW: "With this ring I thee wed; with my body I thee honor; and all my worldly goods with thee I share: in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen."
Archbishop: "Let us pray. O Eternal God, Creator, and Preserver of all mankind, giver of all spiritual grace, the author of everlasting life: send thy blessing upon these thy servants, this man and this woman, whom we bless in thy name; that, living faithfully together, they may surely perform and keep the vow and covenant betwixt them made, whereof this ring given and received is a token and pledge; and may ever remain in perfect love and peace together, and live according to thy laws; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Those whom God hath joined together let no man put asunder. For as much as William and Catherine have consented together in holy wedlock, and have witnessed the same before God and this company, and thereto have given and pledged their troth either to other, and have declared the same by giving and receiving of a ring, and by joining of hands; I pronounce that they be man and wife together, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen. God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Ghost, bless, preserve, and keep you; the Lord mercifully with his favor look upon you; and so fill you with all spiritual benediction and grace, that ye may so live together in this life, that in the world to come ye may have life everlasting. Look Closely or You Might Miss the Details of the Latest Eyeliner Trend
Once again, we find ourselves doting on another form of eyeliner art (because let's be real, it's like looking at tiny eye paintings!). This time it isn't cheesy pizzas, magical mermaids, or neon liner, but dotted eyeliner instead.
Sound somewhat low-key? That's because it is! But that makes it no less pretty. Makeup artists, enthusiasts, and influencers have taken to Instagram to share their many versions of the dotted liner look. Some have used black liner to add a fun twist on the classic cat-eye while others relied on white, creating a beautiful variation of the white liner look we're currently crushing on.
The best thing about this look is that it's pretty easy to re-create. If you have a heavy hand and are a little scared of liquid liner, it may be easier to create small dots with a liner pencil, as these are faint and easier to remove if you mess up; you can then dot over them with the liquid liner. But if this still scares you, you can always use a nail dotting tool. Just make sure there isn't any nail polish residue left over!
Scroll on for more inspiration, then shop for the perfect liner to DIY your own version of this pretty eyeliner art.

Watching This Kid Dance For His Life to "Shape of You" Will Give You So Much Joy
Ed Sheeran's "Shape of You" has spawned some pretty crazy dance routines already (how could it not?!), but a young boy from the Philippines might have just outdone them all. Balang, an 8-year-old internet sensation who's danced on The Ellen DeGeneres Show a few times, recently shared a clip of himself breaking it down to Ed's hit in a tank top, a fedora, and a smile that will have you clutching your heart for dear life. We thought nothing would ever top his "Bang Bang" choreography, but we're happy to report we were wrong.

How This 1 Olympian Is Learning to Stay Motivated
It might seem easy for up-and-coming athletes to stay focused when there's so much ahead of them to achieve . . . so many contests, so many medals. But for one professional figure skater, figuring out how to remain focused after winning wasn't as easy as she thought.
In a scene from Knock Knock, Rachel Antonoff's new series from POPSUGAR and Watchable, Gold medalist figure skater Meryl Davis opens up about what happened after she and her partner won their medal in ice dance at the Sochi Olympics.
"After [my partner and I] came back from Sochi, we came back to life in Michigan and felt as though our lives were different," she begins. "I didn't have that same goal when I got up in the morning. I bought myself this butterfly necklace to symbolize for myself that it was OK to spread my wings and it was OK to grow."
Her butterfly necklace now serves as a constant reminder that she can go after anything she wants - something we can all do as well.
12 Times You Wanted to Be in a Throuple With Dave Franco and Alison Brie
It's widely accepted that a sense of humor is the most attractive thing about a person, so Dave Franco and Alison Brie must be extremely attracted to each other. The two hilarious (and, incidentally, very good-looking) actors got married recently after getting engaged in 2015. This truly seems like a Hollywood match made in heaven: Alison has been cracking us up since Community, and Dave has been our low-key funny-guy crush since a bit part in Superbad turned into bigger roles in the Neighbors movies and more. Every time we see these two out together, they seem like they're having so much fun - and are super in love. Here are a handful of the cutest pictures of Dave and Alison that would make you hate them if you didn't love them so much.
28 Stars Turning 50 This Year
There are a handful of stars who might have found the fountain of youth, and the same can be said for this new group of stars turning 50 this year. Couples like Faith Hill and Tim McGraw and Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman will all be hitting the half-century mark in the coming months, along with comedians Leslie Jones and Will Ferrell. Also in the mix are Vin Diesel, Jimmy Kimmel, and Julia Roberts. It's hard to believe, but there's only one possible explanation: they must be vampires.

Big Little Lies: Let's Theorize Who's Dead and Whodunnit
Big Little Lies is HBO's latest buzzy series, and it deserves the buzz: it's based on the bestselling novel by Liane Moriarty and has a star-studded cast, including Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley, Zoe Kravitz, and Laura Dern. Not only is the production quality predictably excellent (this is HBO, after all), another reason we're already obsessed is that it kicks off with a murder mystery.
So obviously, there's only one thing to do while we wait for the next episode: theorize on who did it and who's dead. Of course, the book Big Little Lies has been out since 2014, so book readers already know the answer, but for those of us who are only watching the show, let's break down some theories! We'll be updating the suspect/killer list as we go, and we're also keeping in mind the ominous words of the detective in the pilot: "Nobody has been ruled out."
When Should Kids Stop Using "Pet Names" For Their Private Parts?
Almost as soon as children start talking, they start asking questions about their private parts. But deciding when it's time to toss euphemisms like "pee-pee" and "woo-woo" in favor of proper anatomical names can be a delicate matter. While many moms feel strongly that you should just teach the correct names from the start and save yourself the trouble of having to back track later, quite a few prefer to wait - sometimes forever. Just ask one mom, Nicolette G., who said, "My daughter is now 6 and we still refer to her private parts as 'Gogga' or 'Tolly.'"
So is there an age by which children should be taught the right names for their privates?" Here, a look at the range of views on this question.
Never - Let Them Learn on Their Own
Some moms maintain that kids will learn the names on their own, from peers, and that parents should just let it happen naturally. "I don't think my seven-year-old will be an adult or even a preteen calling his stuff a 'pee-pee,'" says Circle of Moms member Teresa W. "My younger sister named hers a 'kitty kitty' but now as an adult. . . she uses correct terminology."
U.K. mom Clare R. agrees: "A lot of British adults want to preserve the innocence of children as much as possible. There is a time and a place for everything and I would think it could be embarrassing for a parent if your child says in the middle of a shop 'mummy my vagina/penis hurts.' If it is nicknamed, then people won't really know what your child is talking about, thus saving your embarrassment. They will understand as they get older what is the correct term for their private parts."
By the Time They're Interacting with Other Adults
Other Circle of Moms members, including Krista E. and Sharon C., believe that for safety reasons if for no other reasons, kids should know the right words by the time they are interacting with adult caretakers other than their parents. As Krista explains, "Heaven forbid, what if someone was hurting your child and she wasn't comfortable telling you, but told a teacher, 'so-and-so kissed my 'tolly'? The teacher would probably think that someone had kissed her dolly and would say, 'Isn't that nice?'
Sharon sketches out a similar scenario, "Let's say a small preschooler goes to the school nurse because his 'bits' or 'tail' hurts, what does that really mean?" Their pinky toe, tummy, or something more extreme like a penis or vagina? If a 6-year-old girl's 'bits' hurt, is it perhaps a medical issue, urinary tract infection, or god-forbid, a possible sexual molestation?
Some moms, like Sherri C., teach their children the proper names to be used at school, but still use nick names at home. "My kids know the correct names, but in our home we do not refer to them. We still call them 'pee-pees.'"
When Your Child is Ready
If you're reluctant, the key to knowing when to push through that reluctance is to pay close attention to your kids, many Circle of Moms members say. As Lisa W. explains, "I just believe that your child has to be comfortable. You know your child. If it seems to be too much, or information that they may not be mentally mature enough to process and hold on to, then wait until they are ready. You can tell them, but to force them to use the appropriate terminology before they are ready is unnecessary (in my opinion) especially if they have their own terms that they understand."
Heather B. says the sign of readiness is when a child starts asking questions. "I've taught my son the correct anatomical names for everything on his body, when he asked. I answer his questions with the same matter of fact attitude I do when telling him what his nose is and what it does." To get a handle on her own discomfort with the words, she planned ahead: "I figured out exactly what I'd say about all those awkward questions ahead of time so he wouldn't see a topic make me uncomfortable and then harp on it because I reacted funny."
Lisa, who felt age four was the right time for her daughter to learn the proper terms, used the euphemistic phrase, "your personals," up until that point, but as a teaching tool. "This was my way of training her to understand that certain areas of her body were her personal body parts and no one was allowed to touch or view those areas without her permission and without my presence."
From the Beginning
Many moms believe it is important to skip the nicknames and use the appropriate names for all body parts right from the beginning. JuLeah W. says that becoming a parent is the perfect time to leave your own discomfort with these words behind. "Even if you're uncomfortable, forge ahead. Remember, you're setting the stage for open, honest discussions in the years to come." She believes this sends a positive message to children about their bodies, while cutesy names do the opposite: "Teaching fake names gives the impression [that] there is something here we can't name, can't talk about, is full of shame. You don't want to send that message."
Several moms say that giving kids this knowledge early on helps protect them from sexual abuse. Kerri L. explains: "I attended a seminar on keeping kids safe from predators, and the woman who spoke made a great point: we need to use the correct terms for private parts (penis and vagina). Kids who don't know what their private parts are called are more likely to be taken advantage of by predators who give these parts 'cutesy names.'"
Before attending the seminar, she herself was uncomfortable with the anatomical terms, but says that while using them "felt a little strange to me at first. . . the group of moms my kids and I hang out with all use the correct terminology too, and it's no big deal."
When is the right age to teach your children proper names for their private parts?
Everything We Know About the Remake of Stephen King's Horror Masterpiece It
Eight years after first announcing plans to revive Stephen King's It, the remake is on the calendar for a 2017 release. The literary horror classic - about an ancient evil entity that most often takes the form of a demented, evil clown - has already locked down a director, a far-off premiere date, and a star. By the time the new adaptation hits theaters, nearly 27 years will have passed since the novel first came to life in the form of an ABC special - which, coincidentally, is almost exactly how long Pennywise the Clown lies dormant in the novel before rising again to a new reign of terror. With It looming ominously in our cinematic future, it's high time we unearth exactly what you're in for.
Your Kids Can Interact With Their Favorite Disney Junior Characters at This New Concert
Get ready, Doc McStuffins fans: Disney Junior is bringing some of its iconic characters to Disneyland Resort for an epic dance party that will likely make kids (and maybe even some parents) do backflips. Announced on March 17 on the official Disney Parks Blog, Disney revealed its plans for "a high-energy, live show experience" inspired by your children's favorite Disney Junior TV shows.
If you can't get your little ones to turn off Doc McStuffins, Mickey and the Roadster Racers, or Sofia the First, then this new dance show was made for your family. The all-new Disney Junior Dance Party will open at Disney California Adventure Park starting on May 26 and will feature "a musically infused, interactive concert format that involves guests directly in the experience." Mark your calendars - this one sounds like the concert you wont want to miss.
How to Do Disney in a Day
Since my almost 4-year-old daughter, Mae, started her obsession with Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Tangled, Monsters Inc., and pretty much everything else Disney, I'd been looking forward to our first trip to Disney World, especially the Magic Kingdom, which she considers home to all her favorite friends. But while today's Disney still features a lot of the rides I loved when I was her age, the process of visiting them seems to have become exponentially more complicated . . . and expensive.
We debated how best to introduce Mae to the magic of Disney, but since we were already going to be in Florida (a couple hours south of Orlando) over Winter break, we decided to couple the trips and hit the park in one whirlwind day. It took some planning, but all in all, I think it was the perfect first Disney experience.
Here's what I learned from our trip.
- Prioritize and strategize well in advance. For a 3-year-old, the Magic Kingdom is the Holy Grail, so we focused on spending as much time there as possible. That meant getting on the road before the sun came up so we could arrive close to the park's 8 a.m. opening, when ride wait times are much lower. We also decided to stay at Disney's Contemporary Resort, which is a quick 10-minute walk to the Magic Kingdom and the first stop back on the monorail. It was a pricey decision, yes, but worth it because we didn't waste any time on transportation.
- Book everyone's FastPass+ ASAP. If you're staying at a Disney resort, you'll get one of those nifty MagicBands, which entitle you to score FastPass+ reservations (they let you skip the general line) for three attractions 60 days before you arrive. Use these wisely. On the day we went, the longest waits were, by far, for the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, for Peter Pan's Flight, and (shocker) to meet Anna and Elsa. I scored FastPass+ for both rides but missed the boat for Anna and Elsa, even though I booked our reservations about an hour after my window opened. Instead, I reserved a time to meet Cinderella and Rapunzel, another hot ticket.
Try to make all of your FastPass+ reservations as early in the day of your visit as you can. Once you use all three, you'll be able to hit up one of the FastPass+ kiosks in the park and make additional reservations. Since our three reservations were all between 9:45 and 12:50, we had plenty of time to score two more of those golden tickets, which allowed us to skip the lines at the Little Mermaid and Winnie the Pooh rides. Tip: if the FastPass+ system overwhelms you, don't worry. Book your online reservations early, and once you get to the park, find one of the countless cast members and ask for help. They're all eager to do so.
- Stay on property. For us, this was a big one, since we knew we'd probably need a place to take an afternoon break, which we did from about 3:30 to 5 p.m. (Weirdly, both my husband and I took a catnap while our daughter watched more Disney shows on her iPad.) As I said, the Contemporary was great for us because of its vicinity to Magic Kingdom and because it offers a character breakfast with Minnie, Mickey, Donald, Pluto, and Goofy at Chef Mickey's, which we went to the next morning, after some pool time and before heading home.
- Rent or bring a stroller. Even if your child has long outgrown stroller mode, you'll be surprised at how much time she'll spend in it while at the park. My husband's pedometer logged 22,000 steps on the day we spent at the Magic Kingdom, which is at least seven miles of walking. We rented a single stroller ($15 a day; double strollers are $31), and while parking it for every attraction was a bit of a pain, it was either that or carry our 40-pounder, and we still did plenty of that while waiting for rides.
- Download the My Disney Experience app. The app will let you manage your previsit FastPass+ and dining reservations (make them, and - just a tip - Be Our Guest is the only restaurant in the park that serves alcohol), find park amenities easily, and, most importantly, track all attraction wait times. While some rides' wait times will remain consistently long; others are surprisingly variable. Be smart about your time, and go to the rides with lower wait times while you're waiting for the FastPass+ you hopefully scored for more-popular attractions. We found that any line with a 20-minute wait time or less seemed to go pretty quickly.
- If you can, leave babies at home. One of the greatest advantages of going to Disney for just a day was that we were able to find child care for our 11-month-old easily. I love the little guy, but he is definitely not ready for a nonstop 13-hour day of Disney fun, and from the faces of the many infants and babies I saw at the park, he's pretty typical. If you're deciding whether to bring a baby with you or wait until both of your kids are older to make your first visit to Magic Kingdom, I'd say wait. Everyone will have more fun.
- Remember: for preschoolers, a little Disney is still a lot of fun. Before we left for our crazy Disney day, my mom said to me, "Even if she only goes on three rides, it will still be one of the greatest days of her life." Though we probably made it to 11 or 12, Mom, as usual, was right. We managed to ride on most of the big attractions, but my daughter's favorite parts of our day were riding Dumbo, eating popcorn, and buying a princess Rapunzel dress. (Even if you're like me and cringe at the Disney princess dresses, you can't help but love that a huge number of Disney employees will greet your child with a bow and a "hello, little princess" when she's wearing one.)
So don't stress out too much about planning your trip perfectly. While some strategizing is definitely necessary, your kids will have a fantastic time regardless of whether you make it on every ride, catch every parade, and have the perfect viewing spot for the fireworks. In fact, if they're anything like my little one, they might just sleep through the last one.

6 Pink Songs Inspired by Her Relationship With Carey Hart
Pink and Carey Hart's relationship is full of more ups and downs than a motocross track. The singer and professional biker met in 2001, and their on-again, off-again romance has inspired several of Pink's biggest hits. They have broken up twice, have two kids together, and are currently going strong. But without the struggle, we wouldn't have songs like "So What" or "Just Give Me a Reason." Her two most recent albums, 2008's Funhouse and 2012's The Truth About Love, are both heavily influenced by Carey. Read on to get some context, and find out what she's said about the tracks.
