George Clooney Surprises a Very Lucky Lady on Her 87th Birthday
Special visitor for Pat 😀@SianHammer @SunriseSrUK @SandsAnge #dreamscometrue http://pic.twitter.com/sKYZg2VvmW

George Clooney has long been one of the most charming men in Hollywood, but he recently brought his magnetism to Southbourne, England to visit a very special fan. George stopped by the Sunrise Senior Living Facility to wish one of the residents, Pat Adams, a happy 87th birthday. By the looks of the photo that Sunrise shared on Twitter on Monday, Pat was not only surprised but absolutely delighted by the gesture.
According to People, the facility is near the home that George shares with his wife Amal. "The lady in the picture loves George Clooney and mentions every day how she would love him to meet him, especially as he lives so near to where I work," staff member Linda Jones posted to her Facebook page. "So letters have been sent asking would it be possible for her dream to come true. He brought a card and a lovely bunch of flowers" The staff member explained that the Money Monster star popped by during her shift and that she was in "utter shock" when she answered the door to find him behind it. "He bought a card and a lovely bunch of flowers. [It] seems hard to believe now that he actually came in," she said.
George's sweet deed is similar to one made by fellow Hollywood veteran Denzel Washington, who paid a visit to his childhood librarian, Connie Mauro, on her 99th birthday. What amazing guys, right?
This Mantra Will Help You Lose Weight and Keep It Off For Good
Experts say this all the time: diets don't work. It's all about adopting a new healthier lifestyle, that will allow you to lose weight and maintain it. But how do you do that?
Certified dietitian Leslie Langevin, MS, RD, CD, of Whole Health Nutrition says the trick for losing weight and keeping it off is to "think of food as fuel." If your body is the machine, think about feeding it premium, quality ingredients to allow it to run better.
Typical American diets are heavy on refined carbs, refined sugars, and processed foods. When we eat these types of foods, we physically crave them more, not only because sugar is an addictive drug, but also because our bodies are starving for real nutrients. When we go on a diet and stop eating these high-sugar, refined, processed foods, we lose weight, but as soon as we start eating these foods again, we gain it all back, and maybe even more.
So we have to break this cycle of yo-yo dieting, said Leslie. But she doesn't recommend going cold turkey and giving up all the not-so-healthy foods you've been eating. "Setting up overly restrictive diets can lead to more food binges of unhealthy foods and increase cravings." She recommends "reducing the SAD (standard American diet) foods like white bread, foods made with white sugar, high-fat meats, and fried foods. Then focus on boosting up the whole foods like fruits, veggies, whole grains, extra virgin olive oil, nuts, lean proteins.
You already know you should be doing this, but Leslie says to give it one month. And the magical thing that will happen is that within four weeks of eating healthier, you'll start feeling so much better. You'll have more energy, feel less bloated, you'll sleep better, your skin will be clearer and brighter, and you'll think more clearly. Feeling this good will drive you to want to eat healthier, and you'll crave junk food less. This in turn will help you lose weight, which will be another source of motivation to stay on the healthy track.
When you change your mindset, and see the food you eat as fuel, and every meal and snack as an opportunity to nourish your body, you'll gladly reach for an apple over a cookie. That's not to say you can never have a cookie, or that you won't ever crave one while eating a mostly healthy diet, but there's a definite shift that happens when you choose to eat this way. You no longer look at unhealthy foods and say, "Oh, I can't have that," but instead, you'll say, "I can have that, but I don't want to."

Proof That Jared Leto Has Had as Many Girlfriends as He Has Hairstyles
Jared Leto is one of the most eligible bachelors in Hollywood, and plenty of women have fallen victim to his enviable looks and undeniable charm over the years. You may recall that the Oscar winner and 30 Seconds to Mars frontman dated Cameron Diaz back in the day, and you're probably aware of that now-famous photo of then-girlfriend Scarlett Johansson trying to kiss him while he checked his cell phone, but how many of Jared's former flames do you really know about? We're looking back at his dating history, including serious romances and some maybe-true, maybe-not rumored dalliances. Keep reading to see them all now.
Zayn Malik Says Being in One Direction Was the Cause of His Crippling Anxiety
While Zayn Malik was once a member of one of the most popular boy bands of all time, he appears to be much more comfortable in his own skin now than when he was with One Direction. The "dRuNk" singer, who left the successful group in March 2015 to start a solo career, recently chatted with The Sunday Times Style magazine about everything he's been through that has gotten him to where he is now. Zayn, who has suffered from crippling anxiety in the past which has led to him canceling shows at the last minute, admitted that things have gotten much easier now that he's out on his own. "I now have no problem with anxiety," he explained. "It was something I was dealing with in the band. People saw strength in that, and they didn't seem to expect it from a guy, but they expect it from a female, which to me is crazy. We're all human. People are often afraid to admit difficulties, but I don't believe that there should be a struggle with anything that's the truth."
He also touched on his weight loss while in the band (fans became worried in 2013 after pictures surfaced of an extremely slimmed down Zayn), saying it "wasn't really an eating disorder" and more of "a control thing" that helped him deal with his life in One Direction, something he says was "so regimented and controlled." "It was the one area where I could say, 'No, I'm not eating that,'" he continued. "Once I got over the control, the eating just came back into place, super naturally... I came back to the UK and spent some time with my mum and got some TLC, and she cooked me food and I got back in touch, mentally, with a lot of the things I'd lost."
A big part of Zayn's normal life now is his romance with Gigi Hadid, whom he's been dating since November 2015. The singer revealed that the supermodel has been living with him in his Bel Air home for the past year and that she's bonded with his family, saying, "I've never taken her to [my hometown of] Bradford, not yet. She's met my family in London a few times, though." Oh, and their cute nicknames for each other? "I call her Gee, she calls me Zee. There's some other nicknames too, but I'll keep those private." Aw!

Luke Evans Looks So Good in Beauty and the Beast, You'll Forget He's the Villain
After much anticipation, Disney's live-action Beauty and the Beast is almost here. As its title would suggest, the film is full of beautiful things: dazzling sets, captivating scores, and Luke Evans. Yes, we know he's playing the villainous Gaston, but who can deny that manly physique and devilish grin? His character may be a total womanizer, but there's no denying those good looks. Evans even admitted that he wanted the audience to see Gaston as a "lovable rogue" before he turns into a complete bad guy. So, if you felt conflicted swooning over Gaston in the film, this post is for you.
12 Questions We Have After Finishing Iron Fist Season 1
After months of anticipation, Netflix recently released its new original series, Iron Fist. The most recent to join the streaming site's slate of Marvel adaptations, the show follows the life of Danny Rand (Finn Jones), an orphan taken in by members of a mystical city. After being presumed dead for over fifteen years, Danny - now a kung fu master with the ancient power of the Iron Fist - returns to New York to restore glory to his family name. However, he discovers that his family's company, Rand Enterprises, is deep-seated with corruption and deadly secrets. As he works to discover the truth, his worlds collide and threaten everything that he's ever known.
While the 13-episode season answered many of the questions that had tormented Danny his whole life, it also introduced many more. Unfortunately, season two has yet to be announced and with the show's poor reviews, a renewal is still up in the air. Hopefully, however, Netflix will commission a second season to tie up any loose ends so that fans can rest easy. Just so we're prepared, we drafted a list of the questions that we need answers to the most. Take a look below! Warning: Spoilers ahead.
1. What happens to K'un L'un?
When Danny and Colleen reach the passage of K'un L'un in the final moments of the season finale, they find that the mystical village has vanished from the mountaintop. How does an entire city and all of its inhabitants disappear, and where have they gone? Perhaps there's another dimension or plane that they are moved to. Another theory is that the city is simply cloaked with invisibility - the possibilities are endless when magic is involved. However, if the village really is gone, who or what was responsible, and what will the repercussions be?
2. How do Joy and Davos come together?
Joy and Davos only meet once before, when they come up with the plan to storm The Hand's compound. Yet, they are seen in France having a conversation about how to take down Danny, whom Joy is now convinced is the root of all of her problems. If they both view Danny as an enemy, it makes sense that they would team up against him. However, whose idea is it? Does Davos reach out to Joy, and what makes her think that she can trust a virtual stranger? With Joy's trust issues and Davos's jealousy, we're worried about what they have planned.
3. Is Harold Meachum really dead?
After making a deal with The Hand, Harold became immortal . . . or, so we thought. Bakuto reveals that beheading Harold is the only way to destroy him for good. In his climactic fight with Danny, Harold is impaled and shot off of the roof, falling to his death. Days later, Danny and Ward watch as his body is cremated. However, viewers never get a glimpse at a corpse. Has his body really been destroyed? If it has, is there a chance that he could rise from the ashes like a phoenix? After all, they don't exactly follow Bakuto's instructions.
4. How and when does Madame Gao escape from her cell?
The last we see of Madame Gao, she is in France eavesdropping on Joy and Davos as they come up with a plan to defeat the Iron Fist. However, before that, Danny and Colleen had left her locked in a cell at The Hand's abandoned compound. Do her people finally come to rescue her, and how do they get her out? Alternatively, if she uses her powers to escape on her own, it could mean that she's distanced herself from The Hand and is working as a lone ranger.
5. What happens to all those dead bodies?
Throughout the entire first season, people are murdered left and right. In addition to a few main characters, there are countless henchmen that are made disposable. How do Danny and Ward explain all of the bodies and damage that occurs to Rand Enterprises in the season finale? Do the police ever find the bodies in the swamp? What happens to Kyle's body? If the NYPD never noticed all of those missing people, we understand why Danny and his friends are always so reluctant to turn to the police for help.
6. Does the public ever learn that Harold Meachum had been alive?
After learning that Danny had defeated Bakuto, Harold decides to come out of hiding. He strolls back into the Rand offices, like no time had passed. Ward's secretary looked shocked as she realized that the man in front of her is the same as the one memorialized on the wall. Danny's lawyer, Hogarth, is also confused by his sudden, unexplained presence. However, we never see an announcement made to the press or the public. How many people knew that he had come back from the dead, and if many, how did they explain his most recent death?
7. What really happened to Bakuto?
After winning her fight with Bakuto, Colleen decides to turn him over to the authorities instead of killing him. Davos, however, has other ideas and stabs him in the heart. As Danny and Davos begin to fight, the trio leaves Bakuto's body unattended. When they look back, it has vanished. Colleen suggests that The Hand removes it, but Danny wonders if Bakuto comes back to life like Harold. Either way, Bakuto is pretty brutal towards the end, so we hope that that's the last we've seen of him.
8. What happens to The Hand?
When Colleen and Danny return to the compound to question Madame Gao, they find it abandoned. There had been hundreds of students and guards there just the day before, so where have they all gone? Also, if Gao is imprisoned and Bakuto is dead, who takes over? We know that The Hand had found a way to K'un L'un and that the organization will be a large enemy of The Defenders (a crime-fighting group in an upcoming Netflix miniseries of the same name). We can only imagine after being defeated by Danny and his allies, The Hand will return stronger and more sinister than ever.
9. Does Bakuto's prophecy for Darryl mean anything?
After Danny realizes that Bakuto, Colleen, and the people at the compound are all members of The Hand, he and Davos fight to escape. One of Colleen's students, Darryl, is injured in the process. Bakuto instructs his men to get Darryl patched up, saying, "This young man is our future." It's unclear how far into the future he means. Even though Bakuto has been defeated, Darryl could still be part of a larger plot to destroy or control the Iron Fist. However, we're hoping that Bakuto's words didn't have any meaning behind them. Darryl is one of Colleen's most promising students, and we'd hate to see him further corrupted by The Hand.
10. Is there a chance that Danny's mother could be alive?
In a series of flashbacks, we see that Danny's mother is sucked out of the plane before it crashes, never to be seen again. In all likelihood, she is killed. However, Danny admits to Colleen and Claire that he imagines his mother survived somehow, and is just waiting to be rescued. After all, a body is never discovered. Furthermore, Heather Rand dies differently in the comics, so there's always a chance that Netflix took a few more liberties with the plot and allowed her to survive. We would love to see Danny reunited with some of his family.
11. How much longer will the path to K'un L'un be open?
When Davos arrives in New York from K'un L'un, he makes a point of mentioning (repeatedly) that the passage to K'un L'un would be closing soon. Yet, he never specifies how long they have until that happens. We do know, however, that once it is closed it won't be reopened for another 15 years. Colleen and Danny are in K'un L'un when the season ends, and they still have to discover what happened to the village. Will they get trapped there? Alternatively, if they make it out successfully and return to New York, what will happen if the path closes before someone else is chosen to protect it?
12. Who or what is Madame Gao?
There isn't much that we know about Madame Gao. In fact, for the first few episodes, she is simply a shadow. However, we do know that she is a significant member of The Hand who claims to have been alive since the 17th century; she has powers that she doesn't use often, and she didn't get along with Bakuto for an unknown reason. What, exactly, are her powers and how has she lived so long? Also, if Bakuto was an enemy, but the Rands weren't (she told Danny that they weren't a big enough threat for her to kill them herself), where does her allegiance lie? While she undoubtedly has an ulterior motive, she seems to genuinely want Danny to discover the truth and become the best version of the Iron Fist he could be. Whatever her motive may be, it'll have us shaking in our boots with anticipation until a second season is announced.

Here's How Buddy the Elf's Chocolaty Breakfast Dessert Pasta Actually Tastes IRL
Debatably one of the most cringe-worthy parts of the classic holiday movie Elf is watching Buddy devour his breakfast dessert pasta, an unappetizing mix of spaghetti and various sweet toppings. But there's no denying we've all secretly wondered what this sugar-high-inducing concoction would really taste like, and one brave chef just did the legwork for us.
Youtuber Andrew Rea, who is known for recreating recipes from pop culture (like the Moistmaker sandwich from Friends), crafted Buddy's infamous pasta in all its chocolaty glory. He started by tossing cooked pasta with tomato sauce, butter, and olive oil, and then utterly smothered it with chocolate chips, M&Ms, maple syrup, chocolate sauce, caramel syrup, marshmallows, and crushed-up Pop-Tarts. That sounds like a week's month's worth of sugar in one dish! So how did the concoction actually taste? Watch Andrew's video above to find out!

One Look at Demi Lovato's Style Will Convince You She Can Wear Anything
What do all of the outfits Demi Lovato has worn in 2017 have in common? Nothing. No, seriously. The "Body Say" singer has worn looks that run the gamut from super girly and princess-like to tough and futuristic, and she rocks them all well.
There's not a trend that looks out of place when Demi wears it, nor a dress that could be labeled to risky or sexy. It might have to do with the fact that Demi has the attitude and confidence to wear anything. "I don't let anyone's insecurities, emotions, or opinions bother me. I know that if I am happy, that's all that matters to me. And it's okay to be selfish like that sometimes, when it comes to your well-being. Do what makes you happy, and don't care what others think," Demi told Seventeen once in an interview. She's sure living by that motto! Scroll ahead to see what we mean.

This Ed Sheeran and Bruno Mars Mashup Is Catchy as Hell
Ed Sheeran's "Shape of You" has had a top spot on our playlists for two months now, as has the Bruno Mars hit "That's What I Like" - so when we found this mashup between the two artists, we hit play faster than you could say "strawberry champagne." While the song combines one of Mars's older bangers, "Locked Out of Heaven," it's still catchy as hell and worth a listen (or twelve). So far Mars and Sheeran have hit together just once, back in 2013, when Mars brought Sheeran out as a special guest during one of his tour stops; they sang Sheeran's "The A-Team" and Mars's "Nothin' on You," and of course the crowd went wild. Enjoy this mashup while we cross our fingers for another duet between the two.
Penélope Cruz Joins American Crime Story Season 3 as Donatella Versace
While we're still waiting to see season two of American Crime Story, Ryan Murphy is busy at work casting the third season. As previously announced, the third installment will focus on the death of fashion icon Gianni Versace. The designer was shot dead on the steps on his Florida mansion in 1997, the fifth and final victim of spree killer Andrew Cunanan.
It was rumored that Lady Gaga would be playing Donatella Versace, but after dispelling that rumor, FX has revealed who will really be playing her. We also have two more confirmed actors in the lead roles! Take a look at them next to the real people.
Rupert Grint Makes Ed Sheeran's "Shape of You" Sound Like Shakespeare
Rupert Grint and Ed Sheeran look so much alike that people regularly mistake the Snatched actor for Ed on the street, and Ed even cast him in his music video for "Lego House." But do they share a similar set of Grammy award-winning pipes? It doesn't look like it, but Rupert still made Ed's latest hit, "Shape of You", his own during a dramatic reading of the song for Yahoo. If you've ever wanted to hear lyrics like "And last night you were in my room, And now my bedsheets smell like you" sound like Shakespeare, now's your chance.

7 Spring Cleaning Tasks Every Beauty Girl Should Check Off Her List
Don't tell us you're too busy! We're going to make this fairly easy on you: try one of these Spring cleaning tasks every day, and by the end of the week, you'll be on your way to having a dope beauty "battle station". The alternative? You'll be using expired makeup with bacteria-infested tools - and won't have room for new swag!
Disinfect Your Beauty Sponge:
We are flagging this one, since it's the step many of us forget - or choose not - to do. (You know who you are.) Pros recommend cleaning it everyday; and we're fans of this double-cleansing technique, especially if yours is stained. Replace sponges every three months. Also, buy your little guy a case or stand so it doesn't pick up extra bacteria laying on a counter.
Clean Your Makeup Brushes:
The more advanced method to do this is by DIYing an olive oil and antibacterial soap concoction. Or try the lazy girl way: snag this Sephora Dry Shampoo for Brushes to simply mist your makeup tools. There's no drying time, so you can use them immediately. No excuses now!
Tidy Up Your Hair Brush:
Once you've dropped at least $40 on a designer hair brush, you may as well keep it looking fresh. We're a fan of this Philip B rake that easily gets extra hair, fuzz, and dirt off of the bristles.
Toss Out Expired Products:
We know parting with products - even if there's only a drop left - can be difficult. But if it's expired, then you have a solid excuse to let it go...into the garbage. "Time and exposure to air, sun, or heat can cause the active ingredients - the ones that give you the results - to become less and less active," Tata Harper said. "That's why I personally don't like to put anything on my skin that's more than a year old." Follow this rule - plus these more specific guidelines - for when makeup and skin care needs to be retired.
KonMari Your Stash:
Either buy Marie Kondo's bestselling book, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up or rely on this cheat sheet to help you decide what to keep, toss, and donate. In general follow this mantra: if an item doesn't bring you joy, send it on its way.
Invest in Storage:
Once you'd made room for non-expired products you truly love, invest in chic, multifunctional beauty storage pieces. Your new organized vanity may just become an Instagram hit if you share a photo of it.
Go Shopping:
If you followed this guide, then you earned it! Invest in Spring beauty products that will help you try out the season's hottest trends. (We're excited for surfer girl hair and neon, matte lips!)
Hearts Will Explode at This "Cheesy" Doritos Promposal For a Girl With Down Syndrome
Can't wait for prom with this sweet gal 🎈😁 http://pic.twitter.com/z3Lc66YRW3
- Shaedon Wedel (@shardonwedel) March 17, 2017
For as long as Shaedon Wedel has known Carlie, the young girl has had a love of Doritos. So Shaedon, who is best friends with Carlie's brother, decided to ask the high school senior to prom using her favorite food as inspiration for the grand gesture.
In a viral video and photos that are warming hearts across the internet, the 15-year-old showed up at Carlie's house with the "cheesiest" plan. With a rose in one hand and a bag of Doritos in the other, Shaedon came dressed in a shirt that said on the front, "I know I'm NACHO typical Dorito, but . . . " and on the back, "I'm going to be CHEESY and ask: will you go to prom with me?"
Carlie, who has Down syndrome, was thrilled with this surprise and wasn't afraid to tell Shaedon just how much she loves him. "I didn't do it for the publicity and stuff, I did it to make her happy. She deserves a lot," Shaedon said. "Knowing her for seven years now, she's brought nothing but joy to my life. Anyone who's ever around her, she makes them laugh, she always has a smile on her face. She's amazing."
Shaedon posted on Twitter that he can't wait for Newton High School's prom on April 22 with "this sweet gal" and we couldn't be more excited for them!
This Luxe Pooping Stool Will Make You Feel Like a Queen Sitting on a Throne
Ever since you saw that crazy pooping unicorn ad, you've wanted to try a pooping stool - especially after hearing about how magical a Squatty Potty really is. But you're still a little skeptical. I mean, what if someone uses your bathroom and sees it? Let's also not forget how unattractive most are.
If you're not ready to tell the world that you happily use a pooping stool (or at least tell the people who come to your home), then try this slim teak version ($80) that in no ways screams, "I use this to poop!" Or maybe you just need something with a more midcentury deign to match your bathroom aesthetic.
It may cost considerably more than a white plastic Squatty Potty ($25), but it looks much classier, more modern, and more inconspicuous. And if you feel less embarrassed and even proud to have this in your bathroom and you actually use it, then it's worth paying over double, because there's nothing like the feeling of a good poop in the morning.

Dad Filmed the Thoughtful Talk He Had With His Son Who's Being Bullied
When Isaac Irvine found out that his youngest son Bodi was being bullied at school for having long hair, he knew that he needed to have a talk with him about the incident. Rather than have a quick chat about how to handle bullies, the dad videoed himself and Bodi having the important conversation so that Bodi would not be the only one to learn from his own experience but so other parents and kids can learn from it as well.
"You got bullied today, huh?" Isaac asks his 9-year-old, to which the boy responds, "Yeah," and explains that two boys at school passed him and made fun of him because he has long hair and "looks like a girl." Bodi admits that the encounter made him feel sad, so his dad lifts him up by commenting on how awesome his hair is, as is the fact that he's selflessly growing it out to donate to kids with cancer.
Isaac then asks his son if he wants to know a secret. "Daddy gets made fun of sometimes too. . . . People look at me and are like, 'Look at that guy with all the tattoos on his neck and hands and stuff.'" To this, Bodi says he thinks it's cool that his dad has tattoos, so Isaac transitions, asking his son if he thinks he's the only person who gets bullied.
7 Signs Your Son May Be a Bully
When Bodi responds, "No," Isaac comments that maybe if Bodi thinks telling people his story could make him feel better about the whole thing, then maybe it can help someone else feel better, too. "Did you say anything back to them or did you just let it roll off your back?" Isaac asks, to which Bodi responds that he let the bullies' comments roll off his back. "That's a good thing. I'm glad you didn't get angry," Isaac added.
The proud father then goes into the end of his chat, telling Bodi, "What you have to remember when someone makes fun of you is just because you're unique and don't look like everyone else doesn't mean you're weird or that being different is a bad thing." Despite the entire conversation being quite an emotional one, Isaac appears blown away at his son's concluding statements. "I think being different is a good thing," Bodi says. "It means you think different than other people."
How John Legend and Chrissy Teigen Turned a Casual Hookup Into True Love
Image Source: Getty / Moises De Pena
Chrissy Teigen and John Legend are hands down one of our favorite celebrity couples, but long before she was defending him from Twitter trolls and inspiring his hit songs, Chrissy's first encounter with John was actually pretty relatable: they worked together, had a casual hookup, and went their separate ways. Yes, their epic "how we met" story is surprisingly common.
In 2007, the 21-year-old catalog model and future Sports Illustrated cover girl starred as John's love interest in the music video for his song "Stereo" - and he instantly made an impression: "I walked into John's dressing room to meet him, and he was ironing in his underwear," Chrissy told Cosmo in 2014. "I said, 'You do your own ironing!?' He said, 'Of course I do.' I gave him a hug." Things got steamy both on and off the set. After the shoot, they went back to his hotel room and ate In-N-Out burgers - "I'm not going to lie. We hooked up," Chrissy revealed - and soon after, John went on tour in Europe.
"I wasn't like, 'This is the woman I'm going to marry' from day one," John has said. "I'm the kind of person who needs to grow into that feeling. It was probably a couple of years in when I could already see us being together forever." The two stayed in touch and chatted over the phone, though Chrissy admits, "I was pretending that I didn't really care, but I wasn't with anybody else."
"I let him be himself for a while," she explained to Cosmo. "The worst thing you can do is try to lock someone like that down early on, then have them think, 'There's so much more out there.' I played it cool for a long time." It was during their phone conversations that John realized he had a good thing. "I just started to fall in love with how engaging and witty and funny she is," he said in 2016. "That's when I really started to know that this was the kind of person I wanted to be around a lot. Once we started spending more time together between tour stops and all this other stuff, we realized we had such a connection." Chrissy and John entered into a relationship, and after four years of dating, he popped the question. "Never once did I ask, 'What are we?' Marriage was never my goal, because I've never been very traditional. I was just happy to be with him," Chrissy has said.

How to Clean Your Makeup Brushes With Household Ingredients
We all know that it's bad for us to use dirty makeup brushes on our skin - come on, you wash your face twice a day, but how often do you actually give your tools the same kind of love? If you've been skipping because you're worried about hurting your brushes, we've got an easy DIY way to clean them all up safely. And don't forget to find the makeup brush that's right for you too!
Ingredients:
Olive oil
Antibacterial soap
Steps:
Step 1: Mix two parts antibacterial dish soap to one part of the extra-virgin olive oil on a clean plate (don't use paper plate, as the oil will seep through).
Step 2: Grab your first brush and wet it slightly with lukewarm water. Make sure the brush stays bristle-side down throughout the entire process. If water gets into the ferrule (the middle tube part that holds everything together) of the brush, it can loosen the glue, causing the bristles to fall out.
Step 3: Dip the damp brush into the soap mixture and coat it thoroughly. Next, work the mixture into the bristles using the palm of your hand and fingers. Continue until the soapy residue is makeup free.
Step 4: Rinse the brushes under lukewarm water until no soap runs from the bristles.
Step 5: Roll a dish towel like you would a yoga mat, and drape a paper towel over it so that most of the paper towel hangs off. (The paper towel should look like a slide coming down from the dish towel). Next, arrange the brush so the top of the handle sits on top of the towel, pitching the rest of the brush down onto the paper towel. This will allow your brushes to dry on a slant, while keeping moisture away from the ferrule.
Repeat with remaining brushes. Some make take two washings to get completely clean, depending on the amount of residue left behind. Allow them to dry overnight, and repeat about once a month.
Wait - Someone Created a Paper Sheet That's Actually a Highlighter
What if blotting papers and highligher had a baby? Well, good news, kids - they just did! UK brand MUA Makeup Academy revealed an Instagram that is going viral! The video shows the label's MUA Luxe Shimmer Sheet in action.
This product is basically a mini book of metallic sheets that appear to have a similar consistency to blotting papers. But instead of taking off your face gloss - they add it! Stamp, swipe, or dust these shimmery papers on your face, and it will leave a highlighter stamp. This is not a drill.
The MUA Luxe Shimmer Sheets are offered in two shades: Rose Gold and White Gold. And they only cost £3, which is under $4! The only downside is you'll need to bug your friend abroad to snag them for you, since as of now MUA doesn't ship to America. Bummer.
For now, get your fix watching a mesmerizing video of the product, ahead!
Brides Need to Read This Horror Story About Wedding Beauty Services
"Keep it simple. Keep it simple." That was the mantra, my then-fiancé and I kept repeating while planning our Brooklyn wedding last May. Since we are in our 30s, most of our friends already were married, and we had heard tons of stories of the stress and complications that come with producing a one-day affair that is supposed to be, according to nearly everyone, "the most important day of your life."
I bet you can tell where this is going. It wasn't simple. Or stress-free. But we really did try to make it manageable: we kept the guest list down to just 50 people, and stuck to our budget by renting a city garden for the ceremony and booking a local restaurant for the reception. We did a lot of things ourselves, including making teacup candle favors.
A couple months before the big day, a friend asked me who was doing my hair and makeup. Right. Hair and makeup. I hadn't thought of that. I'm someone whose makeup routine consists of wearing eyeliner and mascara about twice a week, and maybe a little blush if I really want to dress up. "Doing my hair" means remembering to brush it in the morning. So while booking hair and makeup is often at the forefront of most bride's wedding lists, it had somehow slipped my mind.
I realized I needed help. "Fear not," my sweet friend said. "I'll just book you an appointment with a great online service I've used before. Hair and makeup stylists come to your apartment and take care of it." My friend took care of the bill, which was around $125, as a gift. (I have great friends, I really do).
And just like that, I crossed hair and makeup off of my to-do list.

Let's fast-forward through the drama of cutting notable family members from the guest list, discovering our preferred reception restaurant was already booked, and waiting until the last minute to find a wedding dress. Every wedding has its share of planning stress.
The night before, I double checked everything: taxi reservations, safe rings' storage, and the photographer and beauty stylists' arrival times. The latter was particularly important, as I'd planned a morning wedding that would start promptly at 9 a.m.
I had given myself a 6:30 a.m. wakeup call so I'd be ready on time. Not that I slept. I was up all night with a racing heart - jitters is putting it mildly. At some point around 3 a.m. I even Googled "tricks for falling asleep fast," and they didn't work.
So I stumbled dazed and confused out of my bedroom and announced to my best girlfriends that I was a little frazzled, and that I just wanted the morning to be peaceful.
I put on my undergarments and tried to eat a bagel, waiting for the hairstylist and makeup artist to show up at their 7 a.m. call time. But the hour rolled around and they were nowhere in sight. "No biggie," I thought. "Anyone living in NYC knows that the trains are unpredictable."
But by 7:15 a.m., I started to freak out a little bit. I went back to my email to make sure the reservation was correct, and that's when I saw what had happened. My sweet friend had made a little mistake with my street address! Instead of writing "Southwest" for my street, she had written "West." That's it. The stylists were somewhere looking for an address that didn't even exist. And I was in full-on panic mode.
I immediately started scanning my confirmation email for the stylists' phone numbers or emails, so I could call and tell them the right address. There was nothing to be found. Nothing, that is, except for a hotline for the company. Frantically I dialed it, only to get their voicemail: "We're sorry, but our offices are closed until Monday..."
All I had was the stylists' first names, so on a whim, I googled one of them. Amazingly, I found her Facebook page, which led me to her website, where I found her email address. It was a Hotmail address. I didn't have much faith it would actually work, but I shot off a quick S.O.S. email as the minutes ticked by.
I was in tears at that point, standing there in my Spanx and wet hair, when my friend offered to do my hair and makeup herself. "OK," I said. I looked at the clock, it was 7:35 a.m. I was supposed to be out the door in an hour. "We don't have much time."
I sat down, and my friend began applying foundation to my tear-stricken face.
"You already look great," she assured me. "I'm just going to make you look a little better."
Source: Karim Hajj
A few minutes later, the doorbell rang. It was the stylists.
They rushed up the stairs, lugging their suitcases full of hair dryers, curlers, eyeliners and powders. They looked as harried as I did.
"I never check my Hotmail account," the hairstylist said, "but something told me to check it this morning. I got your email and we raced over here."
At 7:45 a.m., I sat down again and the ladies went to work. I don't think they'd ever worked that fast before. Luckily for them, I wanted something uncomplicated, so squeezing a one-hour session into 15 minutes wasn't impossible.
The hairstylist began to give me a blowout while the other got to work on my face. The service has a dozen or so "looks" to choose from, and I chose a classic but simple one with some soft curls, pinned up so I could stick a few flowers in the back. For my makeup, I wanted a natural look, but a kind of "natural" that would disguise the fact that I hadn't slept a wink the night before.
The two women were amazing and really made me feel like it was all going to be OK. At a little past 8 a.m., they were done. With a slight change to my makeup (I had her tone down the initial job a little bit around the eyes), my "look" was complete. It was elegant, classic, and natural.
I quickly put on my dress and shoes and walked out the door, into my future as a married woman.
The wedding, by the way, was unforgettable.
If I were to do it all again, I would pay more attention to my wedding hair and makeup appointments. I notified the company about the whole ordeal. They said the reason there was no contact information exchanged was to protect the privacy of both stylist and client. They did, though, say that they'd try to come up with a system so that a similar situation would never happen again. In the end, they felt so bad about the near-wedding disaster that they gave both my friend and I gift certificates to use in the future - which we used, and had great experiences.
So, it all worked out. And I got to get married to my best friend, which was pretty great too.

Since breaking the news about her second pregnancy, Beyoncé has sat courtside in a luxurious Gucci robe and twirled for the camera in a kelly green princess gown, also by Gucci. This Floral Blush Is Prettier Than a Real Bouquet - and You Can Get It at Walmart
Next time you're visiting your local Walmart, spend some time in the beauty aisles. Drew Barrymore's brand, Flower Beauty, is exclusively available there and absolutely worth trying. The formulas are quite pigmented, often long-wearing, and are beautifully packaged. Case in point: the Flower Pots blush.
These silky, vibrant cheek colors are embossed with the brand's signature posy (which seems to be a camellia), which makes them just as pretty in the compact as they do when worn. They're available in five shades and are a total steal at only $10 each. You could buy all five and it would still be cheaper than a fancy bouquet! Not only are they incredibly affordable, they're also cruelty-free (as if you needed another reason to buy them).

Meet Julia, the First Muppet With Autism on Sesame Street
Sesame Street has been a fan favorite for as long as we can remember, and its newest character, Julia, is shining a new light on the show as the first Muppet with autism. Julia's character will educate both children and parents on the importance of inclusion for children with autism. "She's one of the kids, she's one of the gang," Rose Jochum, director of internal initiatives at the Autism Society of America, told NPR. "It's really meaningful to see her there, singing with Elmo, Big Bird, and all the other characters. It's great."
Recently, 60 Minutes went behind the scenes of the show, where we saw Elmo introduce Julia to Big Bird. Big Bird was confused when Julia did not say hi to him, but the characters eventually accommodate her and play games that she's comfortable with. The show also highlights Julia's drawing skills to show all the unique gifts that autism can bring out in a child.
As part of the Sesame Street and Autism: See Amazing in All Children initiative, producers are hoping that Julia's character will help take away all the negative stigma associated with autism. She's a sweet, talented Muppet, and we have a feeling families all over the world are going to praise Sesame Street's openness to her character.
Your Favorite Memes Inspired an Eye Makeup Trend Because It Was Only a Matter of Time
The latest eye makeup trend is drawing inspiration from ubiquitous viral memes from Salt Bae to Kim Kardashian's famous crying face and a whole lot of Kermit the Frog. While makeup artists and bloggers with larger followings quickly hopped on the trend, more social media users are now trying it out to hilarious results. This trend definitely isn't for beginners, however, as many of the looks manage to fit complex characters and scenes all onto the relatively small size of an eyelid. Ahead, we've listed some of the internet's finest examples.
Iron Fist: Every Important Thing That Happens in Season 1
The newest series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Netflix's Iron Fist, joins the superhero slate alongside Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Daredevil. The show centers on Danny Rand (Finn Jones), a young martial arts master/billionaire who returns home after 15 years in search of his identity. This proves to be more challenging than he originally thought, because his duty as the Iron Fist gets in the way. In case you're wondering what goes down in the first season, here's what you need to know - including spoilers!
Danny's Tragic Past
When Danny was a child, he and his parents were in a plane crash near the Himalayan mountains. As the lone survivor, he was rescued by Buddhist monks and raised in K'un L'un, a mystical city in a realm different than Earth. For over 15 years, Danny trained to become a warrior monk and, after passing a deadly test, was chosen to become the next in a long line of Iron Fists. The Iron Fist is the sworn protector of K'un L'un and the destroyer of The Hand, an evil organization.
His Return to Power
However, unable to let go of his past and the family he once knew, Danny leaves K'un L'un and returns to New York to claim his rightful place at his family's company, Rand Enterprises. Since he was presumed dead for all those years, he is met with nothing but hostility, skepticism, and violence when he arrives. His former childhood friends, Joy (Jessica Stroup) and Ward Meachum (Tom Pelphrey) - who now run Rand Enterprises - fear that he wants to take over their company; Ward tries to have Danny killed, while Joy orchestrates his committal to a mental hospital.
He seeks help from Colleen Wing (Jessica Henwick), a young martial arts instructor who showed him kindness when he first arrived to the city. Danny uses the power of the Iron Fist (a glowing all-powerful hand and unmatched fighting skills) to escape the hospital and flee to Colleen's dojo. With the help of a lawyer, Jessica Jones's Jeri Hogarth (Carrie-Anne Moss), who happens to be a former intern of Rand whom he affectionately calls J-Money, he is able to prove his identity and reclaim his rightful position within the company.
Danny Finds an Unlikely Ally
Meanwhile, the Meachum patriarch, Harold, is busy pulling strings behind the scenes at the company. This is particularly troubling because Harold died of cancer 13 years ago; he made a deal with The Hand to bring him back to life. However, this made him indebted to them and he has been working, with the help of his son, to break out from under their thumb ever since. Ward and a faithful assistant, Kyle, are the only people who know he's still alive.
Eventually, Harold learns that Danny is the Iron Fist, and Danny learns that Harold is alive. The two realize that they both are enemies of The Hand and decide to work together, although Harold can't be trusted. They discover that The Hand have been using Rand Enterprises to create, import, transport, and sell heroin. Danny and Colleen stake out a pier where they find a chemist has been taken prisoner; they help him escape, but he is stabbed in the process.
Things Spiral Out of Control
Colleen and Danny enlist the help of Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson), a former nurse and student at the dojo. They learn that the chemist's daughter was kidnapped, so while Colleen and Claire work to heal him, Danny accepts (and wins!) a challenge with The Hand to get his daughter back. During his fight, Danny comes face to face with a leader of The Hand, Madame Gao (Wai Ching Ho); she reveals secrets about Danny and his past, making him question everything that he knows about the Iron Fist. While this is going down, Ward reaches the end of his rope with his controlling and abusive father and stabs him to death in a rage.
Ward is traumatized after killing his father and begins to have hallucinations. Unaware of everything that's been going on, Joy simply suspects that his drug addiction has gotten out of control (which it has), and their relationship becomes strained over the lies. Meanwhile, Colleen, Danny, and Claire fly to China to kidnap Gao. When they return to New York, they realize that Colleen was infected with a lethal poison. On the brink of death, she calls for Bakuto (Ramón Rodriguez), her sensei, to help her. When he arrives, Bakuto teaches Danny to harness the power of the Iron Fist to heal Colleen - something he didn't realize that he was capable of.
The Big Twists
Leaving Claire behind, Danny, Colleen, Bakuto, and an imprisoned Gao go to Colleen's "home" for safety. This home turns out to be a compound . . . and base of operations for The Hand! (Major plot twist!) Danny and Colleen had developed a relationship and fallen in love, so he is distraught when he learns of her deceit. Danny manages to escape with the help of Davos (Sacha Dhawan), his best friend from K'un L'un who (unbeknownst to Danny) had followed him to New York. Davos is the son of the leader of K'un L'un and always thought that becoming the Iron Fist would be his birthright, so he's extremely jealous that Danny was granted the power; he's also upset that Danny abandoned K'un L'un and left it unprotected.
Meanwhile, apparently immortal (second plot twist!), Harold comes back to life, kills his assistant, places Ward in a mental hospital, and (after revealing himself to his daughter) enlists the help of Joy to defeat The Hand. This is dangerous, however, because each time that Harold comes back to life, he loses more of his soul and humanity (which explains why he murders an employee at Rand and is prone to frequent angry outbursts).
The Final Showdown
In the climactic moments of the series, Colleen realizes that The Hand isn't what she thought it was. She teams up with Danny and Davos and defeats Bakuto (who tried to have her killed and shot Joy, putting her in the hospital). Thinking that he's free of The Hand, Harold comes out of hiding and frames Danny for the heroin operation, making him and Colleen targets of the DEA. Madame Gao tells Danny that Harold is the one that killed his parents so, with the help of Ward (who has been released), he, Colleen, and Claire come up with a plan to get justice and clear their names with the authorities.
In a final battle, Harold is killed and Ward finds the evidence they need to clear Danny and Colleen of the DEA's allegations. Harold is cremated, Ward takes over Rand Enterprises, and Danny and Joy venture to K'un L'un to learn more about the Iron Fist. However, when they arrive, they find that the city has vanished without a trace. As for Joy and Davos, they have teamed up and are in France concocting a plan to take down Danny - a plan that an escaped Madame Gao is eavesdropping on and will undoubtedly use for her own evil gain.
A ton of exciting things happen in the first season, but there are still so many questions that we need answers to. Guess we'll have to wait until season two to see what happens next!
Dancing With the Stars's Heather Morris Was Once a Backup Dancer For Beyoncé
Dancing With the Stars season 24 premieres on Monday, and the competition is already looking fierce. Not only is there an Olympic athlete and a Fifth Harmony member up for the mirror ball trophy, but there is also a professional dancer. Heather Morris is well-known for her role as cheerleader Brittany Pierce on Glee, but she was also once a backup dancer for Beyoncé! The star got her big break when she joined the singer for The Beyoncé Experience world tour in 2007. She even danced alongside Blue Ivy's mom for several performances of "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)" that following year, including one at the American Music Awards.
While some fans think this gives her an unfair edge in the competition, the show's executive producer, Ashley Edens, begs to differ. While she argues that Heather definitely has an "advantage," it isn't "unfair" because she has never done ballroom dancing before. "She's never partner danced," she told The Hollywood Reporter. "That is a skill in and of itself. Does she know how to count music and have rhythm? Yes. But the expectation because she's a dancer is going to be very different." That being said, we're still secretly hoping she'll whip out her signature Beyoncé moves for the competition.
