8 Disturbing Bombshells From Leah Remini's Scientology Documentary Series

Image Source: Getty / Noam Galai

When you think of Scientology, a few people probably come to mind: Tom Cruise, John Travolta, and Leah Remini. While Cruise and Travolta are partly known for their unwavering devotion to the "church," Remini publicly split from Scientology in 2013. After having doubts about things the church was doing and questioning the church's leader, David Miscavige (which is apparently a big no-no), about the unknown whereabouts of his wife, the actress had had enough.

In addition to speaking out about her experiences with interviews and a book, Remini decided to dive even further into uncovering the church's corrupt reality with her A&E documentary series, Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath. On the show, she travels around the country with Mike Rinder, Scientology's former senior executive and one of Miscavige's right-hand men, to talk to former church members about the horrors they allegedly endured over the years (the church denies all claims made in the show). See the biggest bombshells below, which include forced abortion and physical abuse. And you can look forward to more, since the show was just renewed for a second season.

  1. The church's leader, David Miscavige, reportedly beats his staff. Several former church members have spoken out on the show about the physical abuse they endured at the hands of Miscavige (he's 5'1", by the way). All of the situations they described include the church leader's attitude changing at the drop of a hat and him punching, shoving, and choking them in front of other Scientology staff members. Whenever someone even looked like they were about to fight back, a group of Miscavige's men would swoop in and immediately remove that person from the building. One former church member, Jeff Hawkins, recalled that Miscavige looked at him after physically assaulting him and said, "Do you know why I did that? To remind you who's boss."
  1. Women in the Sea Org are reportedly forced to have abortions if they get pregnant. In the show's fifth episode, Remini sits down with Marc Headley, a former event coordinator and video producer for Scientology, and his wife, Claire, a former Sea Org member. While working in the Sea Org, a now-land-based organization of the church's most dedicated members that control management operations, and living at the church's international headquarters in Hemet, CA, Claire became pregnant with their first child. But since Claire alleges that Scientology thinks women in the Sea Org who get pregnant actively want to leave, she was forced to get an abortion. "If a woman got pregnant, she would instantly be scheduled to go and get an abortion," she said. "If she refused in any manner, she would be segregated, not allowed to speak with her husband, put under security watch, put on heavy manual labor, and interrogated for her crimes." Marc and Claire managed to narrowly escape the church (he says he was run off the road by church members in an SUV; she says she snuck out of Walmart and hopped on a bus), but that will never take away their pain. "I can go, 'Well, now I have three beautiful children who are my life,'" she continued. "But it doesn't make me feel better about not being strong enough to tell them to go f*ck themselves."

  1. Despite escaping the church, some people are reportedly still tracked down and brought back. Claire and Marc also went into detail about the heavy security that Sea Org members are reportedly under when they live at the base in Hemet. In addition to security cameras being everywhere, their outgoing mail is always read before being sent, they are on strict meal schedules, and the fence that surrounds the property has large spikes on both sides, which prevents anyone from entering or leaving. Claire revealed that when her friend tried to escape, she fell in a ditch outside the property and was brought right back in by church members and put on heavy labor duty. She also said she knew one member who fled all the way to South Africa, where he was tracked down and brought back.
  2. Private investigators reportedly hired by Scientology followed Remini during the filming of the show. In the fifth episode of the show, Remini and Rinder are driving when they notice a suspicious-looking car close by. After signaling to the car several times that he can pass, he refuses. When they pull up next to him and ask him who he is, he says he works for TMZ, but suspiciously doesn't have a camera and quickly drives away. When they then pull into their hotel, two men are sitting in the lobby with their phones pointed at Remini's car. The hotel manager asks if they are guests, and they both quickly get up to leave. Rinder confronts them, they act like they don't know anything, and Remini later reveals that one of the men is a private investigator (oh, and the TMZ guy was driving the PI's wife's car).
  1. Church members will spend thousands of dollars trying to reach the highest level of spirituality in Scientology. Scientology was founded by a man named L. Ron Hubbard, who believed that you need to clear yourself of your "reactive mind" in order to advance up "the Bridge of Total Freedom." People do this through auditing sessions, where a Scientology auditor asks the person a series of questions while they hold two metal cans attached to a machine. The machine tells the auditor if the person is telling the truth, and in order to continue to grow spiritually, church members have to pay for expensive courses in order to improve. It also should be noted that Hubbard holds the Guinness World Record for most published works by one author (and they're mostly science fiction) . . .
  2. If you leave the church, you will most likely lose your entire family. If a member of the church speaks out against Scientology or decides to leave, they will be labeled a "suppressive person" (watch Tom Cruise talk about it at the 4:29 mark). If the rest of that person's family is still in the church, they will be pressured to disconnect from that person, which means cutting off all communication and essentially never seeing them again.
  3. David Miscavige reportedly told private investigators to let his father die. David's father, Ron, was the one who got his son involved in Scientology when he was a young boy. But after years in the church and being heavily monitored while living at the base in Hemet, Ron and his wife, Becky, decided to plan their escape. In episode four of the show, Ron told Remini that he knew he needed to get out after he walked by his son one day and decided to say hello. "Dave looked at me and I knew that I had done the wrong thing," he said. "By calling him Dave," Remini clarified, to which he replied, "Yes." After Ron and Becky finally escaped, his son hired private investigators to follow him, one of whom was brought in for questioning by police and revealed everything. According to Ron, the investigator told police that when they saw Ron have what appeared to be a heart attack (he was simply holding his cell phone in place in his chest pocket), they called David to see if they should intervene, but David replied, "If it's my father's time to die, let him die."
  4. Scientologists believe they have the cure for mental illness. In the show's season finale, Leah sat down with Brandon Reisdorf, a former church member who suffers from bipolar disorder. At the time of their interview, Brandon was in psychiatric care but his family agreed to let him tell his story. While Brandon said he's doing much better now that he's in the care of actual doctors, he detailed his horrific time in the church. After one of his mental breakdowns, the church decided to give him an "introspection rundown," or what they think is the cure for mental illness. It involves locking the person in a room until their "episode" passes, which they think means their body is rid of the illness for good. Scientologists are also well-known for hating psychology and thinking you can treat mental illness with vitamins and intense auditing sessions (as seen in this infamous Tom Cruise interview with Matt Lauer).

Selena Gomez Reveals Why You Won't See Her in 13 Reasons Why

It looks like Netflix's newest hit 13 Reasons Why may get another season, but don't expect to see executive producer Selena Gomez in front of the camera for the series anytime soon. Selena recently explained to The Hollywood Reporter why she doesn't appear in the series, saying, "A book is frightening for me because I know the cult following it has, which is the reason why I didn't want to be in it."

The 24-year-old was originally cast as Hannah in a movie adaptation of Jay Asher's bestselling novel in 2011 but ultimately decided she only wanted to be involved behind the scenes as the project evolved into a TV series. "I see myself as Hannah so much," she said. "I wanted it to feel like anyone can see themselves in this." Even though we'll probably never see Selena in 13 Reasons Why, her executive producer credit is a pretty amazing achievement.

A Whole Town Came Together to Give This Magical Baby a Unicorn Birthday Surprise

Leyton Hull's parents never thought she would make it to 2 years old. While she was still in utero, Leyton was diagnosed with a serious cephalic disorder that would affect her brain development and longevity. Her mother, Jennifer Hull, was advised by doctors to terminate her pregnancy - a difficult choice that she ultimately did not end up making.

In an interview with Oklahoma's News on 6, Jennifer explained: "Every doctor's appointment they told us to terminate her. So, having her coming out screaming, crying, was a miracle in itself. And to be here today at 2 is unbelievable."

That's why Leyton's family decided to celebrate her upcoming birthday in a major way - with a unicorn! Since Jennifer considers Leyton to be her magical child, she wanted to commemorate the occasion with a sweet unicorn photo shoot put together with the help of her community.

A local horse owner donated a horse for the occasion and dressed it up to look like a unicorn, and The Inclusion Project coordinated the photo shoot at no cost. In a statement, a photographer for the special needs awareness initiative spoke about Leyton and said, "She is so precious and such a fighter!"

The 1 Makeup Tip That Totally Changed My Beauty Routine

Listen, I don't want to sound too over-the-top about this, but I'm honestly not sure how I lived before I embraced makeup-setting spray. A refreshing mist? A full face of makeup that actually lasts? The product's promises seemed too good to be true. (Spoiler alert: they weren't.)

It all started when I learned that I'd be doing my own makeup as a bridesmaid in my best friend's wedding. I've cried during literally every wedding ceremony I've ever attended, so I panicked at the thought of standing at the sunny altar beside my best friend, mascara and concealer dripping down my face, all runny makeup and bloodshot raccoon eyes. Not helping matters at all? I was also pregnant, which meant I was perpetually hot (see: red, sweaty forehead) and even more emotional than usual. Yikes.

Enter our beauty editors, who recommended a few waterproof eyeliners and suggested that I try a setting spray. Until then, I'd only used setting sprays on a handful of occasions, once when I had my makeup done plus a few times in college when a friend shared her spray before going out. I'd thought of it as a product for "real" beauty girls - people who used foundation and highlighter and who knew how to apply liquid eyeliner. I am not one of those people, and with my simpler routine, setting spray didn't feel worth it.

My turn as a pregnant bridesmaid felt like the right time to try it, though - I was going to need all the help I could get - so I combed through our list of the best setting sprays to find one that might suit me. I have incredibly sensitive skin that became even more sensitive during pregnancy, so after reading some reviews and checking ingredient lists, I purchased Urban Decay's All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray ($31), which is free of oils and parabens.

Here's where I tell you that I don't typically get makeup-related compliments. I'm a concealer, mascara, and simple eyeliner kind of girl, and by the end of the day, my eyeliner is slightly smudged and the concealer has usually faded.

But damn if my makeup didn't stay put (and somehow look brighter?) during that wedding. It gave me a glowy look that usually escapes me thanks to my powder bronzer, and I didn't need to reapply mascara or eyeliner like I typically do. Even after hours in the sun and on the dance floor, plus a handful of tears during the ceremony, my drugstore makeup held up. It felt like a true pregnancy miracle.

The real miracle worker at play, of course, was the setting spray, which I now use nearly every weekend. A daytime BBQ? Sweat isn't a problem. All-night dance party? I leave looking almost the same as when I arrived.

So, OK, it may not change your life, but it will definitely up your makeup game.

10 Ways to Lose Weight, No Gym or Diet Required

Losing weight takes a lot of sweat and discipline, but even when you're not powering through a treadmill interval workout or counting calories, there are a lot of simpler ways to see those pounds drop on the scale. Employing these 10 little tricks daily will help you lose weight, no gym or diet required.

  1. Always start a meal with a glass of water: You'll stay hydrated and feel fuller instantly, which can help keep you from overeating.
  2. Make a few simple swaps at every meal: Going for a vinaigrette dressing instead of a Green Goddess dressing at lunch can save you 80 calories, while opting for fresh fruit instead of dried can save you dozens as well. Get a list of simple swaps to save calories here.
  3. Have a piece of dark chocolate for dessert: Instead of opting for the cookies in the break room, quiet your sugar cravings with a piece of dark chocolate. It may not feel quite as satisfying the first few times, but as you wean yourself off your sugar addiction, you'll be glad you're saving calories while having a healthy yet decadent treat.
  4. Be diligent with portion control: If you want to lose weight, sticking to the right portions at every meal is important. Measure out snacks beforehand instead of eating from the bag, use smaller plates to visually signal that your meal will satisfy, and put away leftovers so you're not tempted to go back for seconds.
  5. Move more: Even if you're not dedicating an entire chunk of time to a workout, you can burn a few extra calories by making an effort to move a little more during the day. Taking breaks to walk around the office, opting for the stairs instead of the escalator, and parking a little farther from the office entrance are all simple ways to up your calorie burn.
  6. Don't drink your calories: It's a common reason you're not seeing results - those empty calories from a daily soda, morning juice, or large glass of wine at dinner can really add up. Stick to water flavored with fresh ingredients like cucumber, lemon, or mint in order to save on important calories.
  7. Don't go hungry too long: A little hunger can be good for you, but starving yourself all day in order to "splurge" on dessert at night is both unhealthy and diet sabotage. Eat well-timed meals and snacks in order to avoid low blood-sugar levels that cause you to crash.
  8. Snack on high-protein, high-fiber foods: When it's time to snack, make your food work for you. Steer clear of the empty, high-calorie options like chips and crackers, and go for protein- and fiber-rich foods that taste good and fill you up too. You'll be able to eat fewer calories while still feeling satisfied. One of these 150-calorie snacks will surely hit the spot.
  9. Eat a light, early dinner. Try to keep your dinner to about 25 percent of your daily calories, and have it at least two to three hours before going to bed. Eating too much too late can cause digestion and sleep issues that make it hard to stick to a healthy routine.
  10. Get more sleep. Lack of sleep can cause you to eat more throughout the day and not have enough energy for your workouts, so aim for seven to nine hours of sleep every night. It's an easy and effective way to keep your weight-loss goals on the right track.

How Old Is the Cast of 13 Reasons Why? An Age Investigation

If you're not already obsessing over 13 Reasons Why, it's time to press "play" on the first episode. Netflix's adaptation of the Jay Asher novel has captured our full attention, thanks in large part to the cast. The main characters (save for the parents) are all in high school; we meet most of them during their sophomore year, then see them as they return to school after the Summer as juniors. The actors, however, are all slightly older than their onscreen counterparts. I wanted to know just how much older, so I did some digging. Here are all the ages I could find - a few of the actors have managed to keep their real ages a secret! (I'm looking at you, Christian Navarro.)

Hysterical 9-Year-Old Puts "Special" Gift For Her Uncle in a Letter

Since my niece could write her name, we have been mailing each other letters. We have both been pretty busy and haven't sent or received in a while, but just got this today and this kid cracks me up! from funny

Letter writing is unfortunately a dying art, but for Abigail and her uncle, letters are one of the best ways they communicate. The 9-year-old and her uncle, who she hilariously refers to as "Nemesis," have been exchanging letters since she could write her own name, but Uncle Nemesis decided that the last letter he received from her is the one worthy of internet fame.

"Dear Uncle Nemesis," Abigail starts her letter. "Hi there, how are you doing? I am fabulous. I have earned 10 dollars and I am going to spend it all on candy that I will stash in my room. Not much has happened but I will keep you posted. I regret to inform you that the last time I saw you I could not deliver my booger, so I will put it on the bottom of the page."

Under her hilarious copy, Abigail actually wrote out the word "booger" with an arrow pointing to a fake booger drawn in yellow highlighter. Rather than stop after her subsequent signature, Abigail continues, informing her uncle that she has included a gift inside the letter's envelope. "P.S.," she wrote. "I farted in the envelope."

What a lucky uncle! Hopefully his response letter, which he said in the comments of his Reddit post will include a "hard-boiled potato with an invoice," will also be posted online for our enjoyment.

We've Got Heart Eyes For Bella Hadid's Tiny Pink Purse

With the highly anticipated launch of Bella Hadid's collaboration with Chrome Hearts, she just gave us yet another sneak peek of her chic 40-piece collection. The model recently visited the Chrome Hearts store in NYC and naturally donned two pieces from the line for the occasion: a pink, furry purse and light-blue tinted shades.

The rest of Bella's look that day was undeniably cool too - a mix of white pieces including a boxy jacket, strapless tank top, miniskirt, and slouchy boots. We love how she added two pops of color with her Chrome Hearts pieces, but we simply can't get over that mini purse. The accessory was a perfect mix of sweet and badass, just like Bella herself, and it's totally fueling our obsession with all things millennial pink. The fuzzy texture plus oversize cross pendant were unexpected touches that we're into too.

Since her collab isn't available just yet, we found some similar purses you can check out below.

A Pregnant Mom Got Help Soothing Her Crying Baby on a Flight From This Unexpected Stranger

When a pregnant mom boarded a plane with her toddler son, she probably knew it was going to be a difficult flight. What she didn't know was that she'd find support in one of the unlikeliest of places: a complete stranger.

Instead of zoning out a crying child like so many passengers try to do, one man got up and helped. And Angela Byrd, another passenger, captured the moment on camera.

"On a flight back to Georgia, this man, who was a stranger to this woman, offered to help her because she was pregnant and alone on the flight and her son was upset and fussy," Byrd wrote in a post on the Everything Georgia Facebook page earlier this week.

So, what connected this man to this woman?

"He told her that he was a dad," she wrote. "He wanted to help her so she could rest. He walked the aisle most of the flight from Minneapolis to Atlanta comforting this woman's son as if he was his own. I was in tears . . . because it showed me today that there are still good people out there in a world full of turmoil."

Charlotte of Monaco's White Gown Is Ladylike, but Not So Simple

When Charlotte Casiraghi of Monaco makes an appearance, you better believe she knocks our socks off with her effortless, experimental style. Daughter of the princess of Hanover, Charlotte is quite the fashion insider, seeing as she's pals with designer Stella McCartney and is Karl Lagerfeld's go-to muse. Oh, and did we mention she's also the granddaughter of ultraglam actress Grace Kelly? Yeah, this gal's got it goin' on.

The 30-year-old royal recently stepped out for the Montblanc & UNICEF Gala Dinner in New York City and naturally stole the show with her outfit. At first glance, her ankle-length white gown looks undeniably chic and modest, but a closer look reveals a collection of eye-catching details you definitely don't want to miss. Her entire Giambattista Valli number is covered with simple accents that resemble squiggly lines for an added pop of texture that's especially noticeable on the sheer sleeves. At the waist, her gown has not one, but two thin, bow-adorned bands that match her shoes.

Ahead, see her eye-catching, ladylike dress in all its glory, along with the stylish cover-up she added after the event.

Jared Kushner Is Working at the White House - But Doing What, Exactly?

As reports broke of President Donald Trump's son-in-law-cum-Senior Adviser Jared Kushner traveling to Iraq at the request of an American general, questions abounded. Namely, what exactly is Kushner's role in the White House? What are his daily activities? And what (if any) experience does he bring to bear? Read on for some answers.

Is This Even Legal?

Officially, Jared Kushner's title is senior White House adviser. But it's already quite apparent that his job has some ambiguous responsibilities that are as wide-sweeping as they are unprecedented. Kushner's appointment itself was contested as possibly breaking an antinepotism law; despite it, his appointment has yet to be legally challenged, and he was sworn in on Jan. 23.

What Are His Responsibilities?

The 36-year-old real estate mogul has been tapped by Trump to lead various (and ostensibly unrelated) policy pushes. Officially, Kushner will lead an American effort to establish peace between Israel and Palestine - yet even that position is clouded in doubt; Kushner is an Orthodox Jew with zero diplomatic experience and has strong ties to Israel that are both personal and religious.

According to CNN, Kushner's authority permeates through almost every branch of government. Since officially joining the Trump administration, Kushner has reportedly taken on a role in negotiating trade deals with China, reopening productive trade conversations with China, leading a push for bureaucratic innovation, and reforming the criminal justice system.

Kushner's role is so influential, The Washington Post even referred to him as a "shadow secretary of state" after he organized meetings between the United States and Mexico through "back-channels."

Does He Have Relevant Experience?

Despite his inexperience in government and litany of potential conflicts of interests, Kushner seems to have assumed responsibility for roles that are, indeed, typically left to the secretary of state and, in some cases, the president himself.

Relatively speaking, Kushner has almost no background in foreign relations. After graduating from Harvard (where his father, a wealthy and known Democratic donor, reportedly gifted the school with $2.5 million), Kushner inherited a commercial real estate empire from his father. Kushner also bought The New York Observer when he was just 25 years old in 2008.

Beyond buying and selling buildings and the occasional publication, Kushner's government experience closely aligns with the president's: zero to none.

This Heartbreaking Theory Might Explain Why Snape Was Mean to Neville Longbottom

It's no secret that Severus Snape picks on Neville Longbottom a lot. However, while some fans of the series might've dismissed it due to Snape's overall sour attitude, one fan theory suggests a darker and sadder reason for why Snape acted the way he did.

The theory starts with the prophecy made by Professor Trelawney, which was revealed in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. The prophecy boils down to either Neville or Harry being the chosen one to "vanquish the Dark Lord." Voldemort chose the Potters, killing Lily, the one person Snape loved. The theory, posted by Reddit user OrgasmicSarcasmic, suggests that Snape treats Neville so poorly because he's a reminder that Alice Longbottom is alive (though tortured into insanity) while Lily isn't. You can read it ahead.

I just realized this about Snape and Neville from harrypotter

A thread on Quora suggests something similar. Quora user Sahil Juneja believes that Neville represents Snape's "living embodiment of guilt" and everything he did to unintentionally cause the death of Lily.

Pretty sad, right? Oh, Snape, your love of Lily was so much bigger than any of us knew.

You'll Be Obsessed With Swatches of the Jeffree Star x Manny MUA Collaboration

After some major anticipation, we've finally got the official scoop on the Jeffree Star x Manny MUA launch, and boy, is it good! In a video on Manny's channel, the two got together for a reveal. We knew that the collab would include some liquid lipsticks and a highlighter, but we know what the shades inside are.

As you know, the packaging (including the boxes, compact, and tube) is black, and this is a first for Jeffree's range. The accent is holographic, which is so hot right now. We're particularly enamored that both Jeffree and Manny's signature logos - a star and a moon, respectively - are on every aspect of the products, including the sticker on the back of the highlighter compact and pressed into the powder itself.

The collection officially launches at 10 a.m. PT on April 8, and you'll be able to purchase all three items in a bundle for $50. However, if you'd rather buy items one piece at a time, the liquid lipsticks will cost $18 and the Skin Frost will be $29. In another first, Jeffree is allowing the use of a discount code on his website. Enter MANNYMUA at checkout and you'll be able to get 10 percent off individual items from the collaboration.

Watch the video above to see the products in action, then keep reading to see the products themselves and swatches of each shade.

Tarek El Moussa Just Revealed What Pushed Him to File For Divorce and It Might Shock You

When Tarek El Moussa filed for divorce from wife and HGTV partner in crime Christina El Moussa in December 2016, we had a lot of questions, and now, he's telling all. Tarek recently sat down with Us Weekly to talk about what caused his split, as well as that shocking incident where Christina called the cops on her then-husband in May of last year.

"It was a gradual thing over time," the Flip or Flop star said when asked about what went wrong in his marriage. "We were both very busy people with health issues and kids. We didn't fight, we just grew apart." He explained that his battle with cancer took a toll on their relationship, as well as Christina's fertility issues and their miscarriage after having Taylor, 6, and before welcoming Brayden, 16 months.

Although the news of their split was shocking, fans were even more shocked to find out that Tarek and Christina decided to continue filming the show despite their divorce. When asked if it was awkward, Tarek said, "You have good days and bad days. Now we say, 'Hi, good morning.' We film together and talk about houses and the kids. . . . We'll be together for the rest of our lives because we have kids. We need to get along for the kids and for our sanity."

True that! But things did not seem so cordial between the parents of two after the news broke that Christina called the cops on Tarek after he left their home with a handgun in his backpack. As for why she called 911, Tarek said, "You'd have to ask her. It was blown out of proportion. I went hiking in Chino Hills State Park. We have bobcats, mountain lions. I took my gun only for protection."

He said that they went through counseling to try to work things out, but they realized a separation was the right decision. "Over the Summer, I moved out," Tarek said. "We thought it was best to have space. We didn't want the kids to see us upset."

Although there were some suspicious rumors about Tarek hiring a private investigator to check on Christina, he refuted the claims and said he was "done worrying about the past."

So, how's he doing since the split? In addition to saying he's "totally moved on," Tarek truly sounds like he's living his best life. "My goal is to create memories, and I think I'm doing that," he said. "I'm the happiest I've been in a long time. It takes a situation like this, where you get knocked down and you rebuild yourself into the person you want to be. I'm becoming the person I want to be."

The Best Way to Scramble Eggs, According to Anthony Bourdain

When it comes to the best way to scramble eggs, chefs tend to disagree. And one chef who embraces an entirely back-to-basics, no-frills approach is Anthony Bourdain. Bourdain describes his perfect scrambled egg in a video and makes it clear there's one thing you should never add to to the equation: dairy. "I just don't feel that milk or cream adds anything. I believe that a scrambled egg is principally about the egg," the chef says in the video. "You're not making a quiche here," he says. In his Appetites cookbook, which is filled with recipes that Bourdain thinks everyone should know how to cook, he describes his go-to method of scrambling eggs. Ready for it?

Start with fresh eggs, and get a hot - but not too hot - pan going. Crack the eggs on a flat surface before dropping them into a bowl to prevent any shells from sneaking in. Beat them with a fork, but don't overbeat them; you want to have a ripple of white and yellow instead of an entirely yellow mixture. Drop plenty of whole butter into the hot pan until it's foaming, followed by the beaten eggs. Allow the eggs to form a little bit before beginning to gently move them around in a "figure-eight pattern," as Anthony describes. The final product should be fluffy, airy, and rippled.

So there you have it. Unlike Alton Brown, who scrambles his eggs with whole milk, or Chrissy Teigen, who makes "cheesy" cheeseless scrambled eggs with heavy cream, or Paula Deen, who claims adding water lightens them up, Anthony Bourdain omits any of these additions for a basic, buttery egg.

Why Jon Snow and Daenerys Will End Up Together on Game of Thrones

We've got a precious few episodes left on Game of Thrones, and all we can do is sit here helplessly and figure out how everything will end. Based on the latest teaser, called "Long Walk," it seems the final two seasons will be all about the competing powers of Jon Snow, Cersei Lannister, and Daenerys Targaryen. Now, take into consideration a quote Cersei herself once said. "When you play the game of thrones, you win or you die." We always thought this could mean one thing: only one ruler will come out on top. But what if we've got it all wrong?

Consider this: what if Jon and Daenerys come together with the common goal to defeat Cersei and rid the Seven Kingdoms of the Lannisters for good? Both characters have proven their willingness to gain allies; Jon has united with the Wildings, the Knights of Vale, and more, while Dany of course controls the Unsullied and recently solidified her bond with the Greyjoys. Then that got us thinking: what if they totally just get married and rule Westeros together? Think we're crazy? We have a few reasons to believe it's not out of the question.

  • Taking it back to A Song of Ice and Fire. This is one of the most classic Game of Thrones theories. The phrase itself comes from George R.R. Martin, and it's actually the title of the book series Game of Thrones is based on. Many speculate that this phrase refers directly to Jon (ice) and Daenerys (fire). Basically, by having them in the title, it would mean both of them are part of the final "end game."
  • Well . . . they are both single. Sorry, but it's true. Jon lost Ygritte, and Dany lost Khal Drogo. Jon hasn't taken a lover since, and although Dany had Daario for a while, they pretty much called it quits at the end of season six. Maybe Dany and Jon are just destined to be.
  • They will definitely meet this season. Right, but how could they be meant for each other if they're on opposite sides of the world? Actually, they're closing distance on each other in the new season. In fact, some set pictures from last year confirm they'll actually meet in person! Things could definitely heat up between them.
  • They both sort of have a claim to the throne. Season six confirmed the theory that Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen are Jon's parents. Seeing as the Baratheon-Lannisters have the claim to the throne, they would be first in line to take hold. But Joffrey and Tommen Lannister are dead, and so are Stannis and Renly Baratheon. Once Cersei's gone, none of them would be left. This means a Targaryen would have claim to the throne, since the last ruler before Robert Baratheon was a Targaryen. Jon is a male heir, but he's also only technically half Targaryen. Dany, on the other hand, is female but a pure-blooded Targaryen. You could make an argument for either one.
  • It kind of makes sense in general. Assuming Cersei does get killed or defeated, it does make sense for Dany and Jon to rule together. When you take everything above into consideration, it seems like the most possible solution. They've both proven to be brave but inexperienced rulers. Together, though, they could really soar. They may not fall in love, they may not get married, but at the very least, this is the smartest political move. Here's to JONERYS!

A Minute Staring at This Bride's Wedding Gown, and You'll Swear You Stepped Into a Fairy Tale

As part of the sister duo behind luxury retailer Avenue 32, it probably comes as no surprise that Maya Benteler's wedding was every fashion girl's dream come to life. The British beauty's nuptials began with a civil cermony, then a breathtaking church wedding and reception, with the requisite outfits to accompany each.

Maya kicked things off in a chic white sheath for her courthouse nuptials but gave the look a statement-making twist with a leopard coat and ankle-wrap heels. The wedding gown itself was far more traditional, a long-sleeved tulle and lace creation that looks entirely fit for a princess, while husband Christian Staubach was a dead ringer for Prince Charming in his polished three-piece suit.

And because any stylish bride knows the importance of beautiful bridesmaid dresses, Maya's wedding party was decked out in lovely matching floral-print gowns and flower crowns that made the wedding feel that much more like a fairy tale. The gorgeous Austrian landscape didn't hurt, either. Read on to see the stunning looks in full.

Mom's Message to Parents on Their Bad Days: "Pat Yourself on the Back"

Cassie Hilt is a busy mama of two who isn't pretending that every day with her kids is perfect - in fact, she admits that a lot of days are overwhelming to the point of exhaustion. Days when there are a million chores to be done and her kids are arguing, whining, and seeking her attention. However, Hilt wants to remind other parents that even on their worst days, their children love them unconditionally and that surviving another day of parenting should always be celebrated.

"There are days where I cannot wait to get the kids ready and into bed. Sleeping. So that I can rest. And breathe. There are days when I feel like I am just not enough for them. That they deserve more of my attention, more of my love, more of my time," Hilt wrote in Facebook in a post featuring a sweet black-and-white photo of her kids sleeping. "And then these moments happen. These moments where they look so adorable and perfect that make me think, I must have done something right. Something great, to be blessed with these amazing little humans. They love me on my worst days, and on my best."

Hilt ends her post with a message to all of her fellow overwhelmed moms: "So to all the moms having a hard day, just remember . . . we are tougher on ourselves than they are on us. Peek in on your sleeping babes tonight, give them a kiss, and give yourself a pat on the back. You survived another day, and you are blessed with an amazing gift - your child's love."

The Obamas Traded the White House For This $5.3M Mansion

When their presidential term comes to end, most first families are eager to return to a life of anonymity far away from Washington DC - but the Obamas aren't most first families. Their younger daughter, Sasha, has a couple years of school left. With this in mind, Politico has revealed that the Obamas are staying put in DC, at least until Sasha graduates.

They've traded the White House for a luxurious brick mansion in the upscale DC neighborhood of Kalorama, just two miles away.
