39 Met Gala Photos That Will Make You Feel Like You Were There
The Met Gala swept through NYC on Monday night, bringing a bevy of A-list celebrities from the worlds of TV, movies, music, and, of course, fashion. The annual event, which honored Comme des Garcons designer Rei Kawakubo, was hosted by Vogue's Anna Wintour, as well as Katy Perry, Pharrell Williams, Caroline Kennedy, and Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen, who couldn't keep their hands off each other while posing for photos.
Who Won the Met Gala Red Carpet?
Cute couples, hot guys, and fun-loving BFFs took over the red carpet, and stars enjoyed an exclusive look at the Costume Institute exhibition before mingling at their tables and partying it up inside. Keep reading to see the best pictures of the night!
Halle Berry's Met Gala Hairstyle Looks Like a Standard Updo - Until You See It From the Back
Many stars attempt to look like royalty at the Met Gala, but in our minds, this year's red carpet queen was Halle Berry. You may not have noticed, but the actress was wearing an actual crown!
Celebrity stylist Castillo flawlessly balanced elegance and opulence with a rolled ponytail bun. His inspiration came from the star's Versace gown. "At first, I wanted to do something pretty and down the back, but then realized I wanted to keep the look all about the dress," he told POPSUGAR via email. "I didn't want to take away from the elements that made this dress amazing, so I decided to pull the hair back and do an elegant low bun with a crown at the top."
After creating a center part on hair prepped with MarulaOil Rare Oil Style Extending Primer ($30), Castillo created loose and natural waves on Halle using a mix of Neuro hot tools, including two unclipped curling irons and the Smooth Iron. He then brushed hair into a low pony, backcombed it for volume, and rolled and pinned it up into a bun, topping it with a crown.
If you plan on DIYing this for your next major event, know that great texture is the key to the look. "That's really going to lend itself to create a shape that doesn't sit flat and add volume to the bun or chignon you're creating," explained Castillo. Read on to see the stunning style from all angles.
Selena Gomez’s Eye Shadow Transformed Her Entire Look at the Met Gala
Selena Gomez had jaws dropping and heads turning when she arrived at the 2017 Met Gala, but while most were in awe at her first red carpet with boyfriend The Weeknd, we couldn't help but fall into the gaze of her stunning makeup.
Selena might have opted for an understated Coach slip dress, but that captivating eye shadow fell perfectly in line with the Comme des Garcons theme. Chris McMillan took care of her sleek A-line bob, and celebrity makeup artist Hung Vanngo gave Selena a nude lip to guarantee all eyes were glued to her striking Marc Jacobs pink eye shadow.
"I originally was going to do something very soft on Selena, and kept that idea in mind for the most part when deciding on her makeup look," Vanngo said. "The twist was the bright pink eyeliner I came across while sorting through colors. I thought it would be a fun punch of color, but still go with the overall makeup look."
To create that radiating hot pink eye, Vanngo used Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Matte Gel Eye Crayon in Pop(ular) 49 ($25) and the soft shadows from Marc Jacobs Beauty Style Eye-Con No. 7 Plush Eye Shadow Palette in The Lover 220 ($59).

Selena Gomez's Met Gala Night Was So Good - How Will She Top It?
Selena Gomez's 2017 keeps getting better and better. And we're going to go ahead and say that this year's Met Gala will go down as one of her best nights ever.
The "It Ain't Me" singer made her official red carpet debut with her boyfriend The Weeknd, showing PDA on the red carpet while his ex was mere steps away. She wore a '90s-ready Coach slip dress we're already plotting to copy and hung out with fashion royalty while at it. Keep scrolling to see those and other amazing moments from Selena's night.

Democratic Senators Are Trying to Ban Gay "Conversion Therapy" Nationwide
Being gay is not a disease nor a medical condition. Despite efforts by some medical professionals to "convert" gay people, particularly of teens whose parents make them, gay "conversion therapy" is incapable of treating a condition that does not exist - and it doesn't work. Though the controversial therapy is widely criticized, only six states (including DC) have banned the practice for minors. In an effort to prohibit practitioners from potentially harming children, three Democratic senators have introduced a bill that would ban gay "conversion therapy" nationwide.
Senators Ted Lieu, Patty Murray, and Cory Booker jointly proposed the Therapeutic Fraud Prevention Act of 2017 on April 25. Their argument? Since being lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or queer is unquestionably not a medical condition nor recognized as one by professionals, it cannot be treated. Speaking to The Washington Post, Lieu emphasized that the bill targets those purporting to "heal" people.
"The bill is very simple. It says it is fraud if you treat someone for a condition that doesn't exist and there's no medical condition known as being gay," said Lieu. "LGBTQ people were born perfect; there is nothing to treat them for. And by calling this what it should be, which is fraud, it would effectively shut down most of the organizations."
Homosexuality and gay "conversion therapy" have a dark history. While it was removed from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) in 1973, a few therapists across the country have since still asserted they can treat homosexuality. Patients are often subjected to what is essentially torture to "cure" their homosexuality; people have been electrocuted, had nausea induced, and been forced to snap their wrists with rubber bands as a way to discourage their attraction.
Democratic members of Congress have expressed support for the bill. However, it's likely to receive some pushback in the Republican-held House and Senate. Given that Vice President Mike Pence once supported "institutions which provide assistance to those seeking to change their sexual behavior" and President Donald Trump's administration is already hostile to the LGBTQ community, Democrats will have to fight for this bill to pass.
This is not to say that the Therapeutic Fraud Prevention Act of 2017 is a lost cause. As we've seen time and time again, love ultimately conquers hate.
Priyanka Chopra Wore Her Trench Coat to the Afterparty, but 1 Piece Was Missing
When your Met Gala red carpet look is brilliant, why change completely for the afterparty? Priyanka Chopra stuck with her custom Ralph Lauren coat dress at Katy Perry's bash while mingling with stars like the Jonas brothers and Aziz Ansari. One piece was clearly missing from her trench coat though: the train.
On the red carpet, it trailed behind the star when she walked, but it made sense Priyanka ditched it at the end of the night. The endless train would have been annoying to drag around, not to mention get in the way of any dancing. This genius style move is what makes Priyanka a style star to watch, so read on to see her quick outfit change then reminisce about last night's most fabulous dresses.

Kim Kardashian Basically Just Confirmed Kendall Jenner's Romance With A$AP Rocky
All the attention was on Kendall Jenner at the Met Gala on Monday night thanks to her revealing naked dress, but she only had eyes for rumored boyfriend A$AP Rocky. Although the rapper walked the red carpet with Gwyneth Paltrow rather than the Pepsi fan, one of Kim Kardashian's Snapchats from the night gave her followers an intimate glimpse into their potential romance. A$AP can be seen holding onto Kendall's butt while she adjusts his tie, as Kylie Jenner dutifully captures a photo of the moment.
Earlier in the night the pair was seen hugging and laughing as they made their way into the exhibit and looked pretty cozy in the bathroom selfie Kylie shared on Instagram. Kendall and A$AP first sparked dating rumors in February 2016 when he attended one of her events for PacSun, with a source telling Us Weekly that their relationship "is the real deal." Although Kim's Snapchat is about as close as Kendall herself has come to confirming the rumors, they were also spotted out in Paris together. Sure seems like something is going on!
Sarah Paulson Freaks the F*ck Out After Spotting Madonna at the Met Gala
Can someone check on Sarah Paulson? Because it looks like the American Horror Story actress might have had a heart attack after bumping into Madonna on the red carpet at the Met Gala on Monday. As you can see in the hilarious photo above, the camouflage-clad music legend was busy posing with designer Jeremy Scott when Sarah spotted her from behind. Being a low-key superfan of Madonna's (Like a Virgin was the first album she ever bought!), she naturally freaked the f*ck out. Luckily she calmed down enough to help Madonna out with her lengthy train and the two shared a funny moment together. We thought nothing would be able to compete with Rihanna's epic moment at this year's event, but we might have a winner.

Your Summer Will Be Cooler Than Ever With Starbucks's Mint Mocha Frappuccino
For all you chocolate-lovers who totally don't get the hype around the Unicorn Frappuccino, Starbucks has got you covered. As of today, the Midnight Mint Mocha Frappuccino will officially be a part of the coffeehouse's Summer menu, and let me tell you, it is good.
The drink has extra dark cocoa blended with coffee, milk, and ice and is infused with mint sugar crystals. Half of the chocolate mixture is poured into the cup, followed by a layer of whipped cream, and then more chocolate. The whole thing is topped with whipped cream and a dusting of dark cocoa. I obviously went to Starbucks first thing this morning to get one of these of my own, and I was not disappointed. The Frappuccino actually tastes like a mint chocolate milkshake, which I'm more than fine with. I reluctantly shared with a few people in the office, and the overall consensus was that this drink is fantastic, though maybe not for mornings. One taster said it was a chocolate overload, in a good way, and another wished there was just a tad more mint flavor.
We hope this new Frappuccino doesn't incite any rage among Starbucks baristas like the Unicorn Frappuccino did. This drink seems slightly less complicated and more in line with Starbucks's standard menu, so we have high hopes. I imagine I'll be ordering plenty of these this Summer, along with the S'Mores Frappuccino, which is making a triumphant return to the Summer menu.
Mariah Carey Goes All Out For Her Twins' Disneyland Birthday Bash
Mariah Carey isn't just a glamorous celebrity, she's also a glamorous mom. The singer pulled out all the stops when she celebrated her twins Moroccan and Monroe's sixth birthday at Disneyland alongside her ex-husband, Nick Cannon, on April 30. In addition to taking a ride on Space Mountain as a family, the twins also mingled with some Disney pals at Goofy's Kitchen as they munched on Minnie and Mickey Mouse-themed cakes and opened their presents. And the magical day certainly didn't come cheap either, as the former couple reportedly dropped five figures on the birthday bash. But it shouldn't come as a surprise that they would pick the happiest place on Earth to celebrate. Not only is it every kid's dream to ring in their birthday at Disneyland, but it's also where Mariah and Nick renewed their vows back in April 2013.

Giada De Laurentiis Reveals the 1 Surprising Ingredient She Adds to Pasta
Celebrity chef Giada De Laurentiis is known for celebrating her Italian heritage through her cooking. So naturally, she was the perfect woman to host the New York Wine and Food Festival's Italian Table event in New York City.

I caught up with her inside the Giada Vegas booth to chat about pasta, the importance of learning how to cook "lemon spaghetti" (which somehow sounds so much more enticing when she says it with her Italian accent), and the basic supplies to keep stocked for quality Italian fare. Giada's booth was swarmed with crowds all night long, where she was busy personally handing out her delicious muffuletta sandwich to throngs of devoted fans. Seriously, I'll be thinking about that sandwich for at least the rest of the week.

On the 1 Surprising Ingredient She Adds to Pasta
"Chocolate! Short rib with chocolate. I'm actually making it tomorrow night for dinner."
On the 5 Staples She Thinks Everybody Should Keep Stocked in Their Pantry
"Pasta, jarred tomato sauce, whatever kind you like. I like Rao's or Mutti, but Mutti is harder to find. Garlic, olive oil, and red pepper flakes."
On Her Favorite Go-To Breakfast on Busy Days
"I do brown rice, with olive oil and salt. I like a carb for breakfast, and I like a savory breakfast. If you start your day with sugar, you're jacked for the rest of the day. I get up really early in the morning, so I need a carbohydrate. So I'll do 1/4 cup of brown rice, with warm olive oil and salt. At my restaurant I do oatmeal, olive oil, salt, and marcona almonds for protein."

You Have Every Right to Swoon Over Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively at the Met Gala
Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively just couldn't contain their smiles when they attended the Met Gala in NYC on Monday. The couple shared a few loving glances as they walked the red carpet together at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. While Blake turned heads in a peacock-inspired gold gown, her husband adorably matched his bow tie to her blue feathers. The parents of two certainly have a history of adorable moments at the Met Gala. This outing marks one year since Blake hit the red carpet after it was announced that she was expecting her second child.
Salma Hayek Is Basically Barbarella With Her Boot Pants at the Met Gala
Salma Hayek's Met Gala look was something out of this world. The 50-year-old Mexican actress rocked an ensemble from Balenciaga that surprised us in an unexpected way.
At first, we thought the simple black dress with a bow was it, but look closely and you'll see Salma was wearing two pieces. She rocked electric blue boot pants from the French designer - yes, her shoes were also her pants!
On the red carpet, Salma described Comme des Garcons's designer Rei Kawakubo as "innovative, imaginative and ahead of their time" to E! News, so it's really no wonder she went with this futuristic look. Keep scrolling to see more of Salma.
12 Things You Never Knew About Orange Is the New Black
We're just over a month away from June 9, when the much-anticipated fifth season of Orange Is the New Black magically appears on Netflix, and we couldn't be more excited for the new episodes to drop. You still have tons of time to catch up on where your favorite characters leave off (or, if you'd rather, read exactly how things go down in the finale), but while we can only speculate at this point on what's to come, there are a few things we know for sure about one of the most loved Netflix series of all time. So, to hold you over until the new season: here are 12 things you never knew about OITNB.
- Jodie Foster has directed two episodes of the series. The legendary actress directed the third episode of season one (where Crazy Eyes falls for Piper) and the first episode of season two (when Piper is moved from Litchfield.)
- Katie Holmes almost played the role of Piper Chapman. But she was too busy. Creator Jenji Kohan said at the time that Holmes "had other things to do." But to be fair, she also added that "in the beginning, no one knew what this was." Oh, and Laura Prepon was almost Piper too.
- The actress who plays Yoga Jones is the voice of Patti Mayonnaise. If you close your eyes, you can almost pretend that she's the legendary love interest in the classic cartoon Doug.
- In the episode where Piper first meets Larry, he's watching Weeds - another show created by Jenji Kohan - and you can see it on the TV in the background. Seriously, go back and look for it. It's there.
- The real-life Larry actually did write a Modern Love column in the New York Times. And you can read it here.
- Nicky's scar from her post-overdose surgery is the real deal. Actress Natasha Lyonne suffered from the same issues with addiction as her character in the show.
- Laverne Cox's twin brother played Sophia in her pre-transition flashbacks in season one. Cox wanted to play the role herself, but "Jodie Foster, who directed the episode in which Sophia's backstory is explored, didn't think it would work." Cox's brother, M. Lamar, is a musician who described himself to The New York Times as being of the "gothic-devil-worshiping-free-black-man-blues tradition."
- The real-life Piper made a blog in 2003 about her time in prison. It's called The Pipe Bomb. Kerman ended up writing a memoir (also titled Orange Is the New Black) that inspired the show.
- All of the women in the opening credits were formerly incarcerated. There isn't a single actress in the entire sequence - and if you look really closely, you can see Piper Kerman in there too.
- Flaca has kissed Kourtney Kardashian. Yes, Jackie Cruz was on Keeping Up with the Kardashians in 2009.
- The same inmate is always crying behind Piper when she's on the phone. You didn't imagine it - Gerrman is always there, and most of the time she's weeping over her wrestler son.
- We still have no idea what the meaning of the eggplant joke really is . . . And we're still holding out hope that we'll find out in the future. But in the meantime, here's a pretty solid theory.

22 Hobbies For People Who Really Love to Be Alone
Introvert problems are a real thing, and while it's not that we dislike people, we just prefer (and need) our alone time. While we're totally happy to spend time with our friends, it's the things we do by ourselves that we really love. There are so many ways to benefit from solo hobbies, so we've rounded up some good ideas for single-person fun.
- Take up photography. Photography allows you to see the world from a different perspective, and while it can involve interacting with others if you choose, it can also be a form of expression that you can hone at a distance. These days, you don't even have to drop a ton of money on an expensive camera; you can develop great photography skills with just your smart phone.
- Listen to podcasts. Learn more about the world (or block the world out) by listening to educational and informational podcasts, or get in to other compelling broadcasts that are essentially digital page-turners, like Serial and others like it.
- Get artsy. It doesn't matter if you have true skills as an artist or if you just like to doodle because it calms your mind. Get ambitious and take a drawing, painting, calligraphy, or pottery class, or keep it simple and fill up adult coloring books that help calm anxiety and stress.
- Learn to play an instrument. If you already know how to play, then focus on getting even better, and if you've never picked up an instrument, it really is never too late to try. Playing music is a good way to constructively challenge yourself, and you can set your own personal goals as to how much you want to master the craft. If you don't want to work with an instructor, you can find online tutorials and books to help teach yourself.
- Write. Writing is a great hobby for introverts, because it allows you to express yourself on your own terms, in your own time. It also doesn't involve other people. Spend time writing down your thoughts in a blog, put together poems, or work on the next great American novel - whatever works for you.
- Cook or bake. Spend some time trying out different recipes and perfecting dishes by yourself, so that if you ever want to invite a (small) group of (close) friends over for dinner or dessert, you'll have the meal already planned.
- Create a YouTube channel. You can share tutorials, DIYs, music, or just your thoughts on any given subject. Like writing, running a YouTube channel is perfect for introverts because it allows them the platform and means to produce something creative while being able to take their time to get it just right.
- Take up a single-person athletic activity. Find a workout routine that you love, or engage in a sport that requires few or no people. You can bike, swim, play golf, run, dance, box, play tennis, or choose a workout class that doesn't involve a ton of engagement with others. It's so invigorating and rewarding to get inside your own head and work hard at something, so introverts can really benefit from this type of activity.
- Do puzzles. Puzzles are a perfect way to work your brain and challenge yourself, and you can take them at your own pace. You can do jigsaw puzzles, sudoku, crosswords, online puzzles, or even a Rubik's cube.
- Take an online class. Pick a subject that interests you and spend some time learning more about it. If you're doing it for pleasure, you don't have to worry about grades - just enjoy expanding your knowledge!
- Travel alone. If you love to travel, plan some trips with just yourself. There are so many reasons to travel alone; you get to decide what sights to see and where you eat, your time is entirely your own, and you can really immerse yourself in other cultures.
- Learn to knit. Try your hand at knitting, sewing, weaving, crocheting - whatever interests you the most!
- Play games. The online gaming world is endless and many introverts love to immerse themselves in it, but even if that's not for you, then work at perfecting your solitaire game, teach yourself magic or card tricks, or play video games that don't require you to be online.
- Garden. Gardening allows you to stay close to home and cultivate something that is both beautiful and, depending on what you grow, can even be useful (and edible!) as well.
- Watch movies. Introverts definitely need a Netflix subscription, or something similar, because there is nothing quite as nice as settling down on the couch for a long movie or TV show marathon.
- Do outdoor activities. Get outside and spend some refreshing time in nature. Go hiking, fishing, bird watching, kayaking or canoeing, or just take a quiet walk through a beautiful area.
- Meditate. It's much more than hippie bullsh*t! There are countless mental and physical benefits to taking time by yourself each day to relax and de-stress.
- Get handy. Broken toilet? Learn to fix it. Car not working? Tinker around with it. Instead of hiring a handy person, make yourself into one with research and practice. You'll end up saving money on hiring an expert by becoming the expert yourself.
- Volunteer with animals. Animals are sometimes kind of better than people, especially to an introvert. Do good in the world without having to have too much interaction with humans - just some adorable cats and dogs.
- Learn a new language. There are great apps and computer programs, not to mention college and online classes, where you can learn a new language. Master one, and then take a trip to a country where that language is spoken.
- Build models. Like puzzles and art, model building - from planes and buildings to ships and cars - can stimulate the mind in positive way while calming stress.
- Read. Perhaps the greatest hobby introverts enjoy is reading for countless hours, wherever and whenever they can. It allows you to escape into another world, and the quiet calm of a cozy reading nook and good book is like nothing else in the world.

Katy Perry Let Her Avant-Garde Down For This Year's Met Gala
Katy Perry gave Met Gala-goers (and us at home) a reason to stop and stare at her red-hot look for the evening. She took the Comme des Garcons signature red shade and avant-garde style quite literally, outfitting herself in what appears to be a giant work of art.
Let's break down her beauty look: she topped her short new blond haircut with a red veil that was anything but bridal. It spelled out "eyewitness" across it in quirky letters. The eye symbol is likely a nod to the ones in the classic Comme des Garcons heart motif.
Under the headpiece, she sported a glittery red lip and smoky, shimmery blue eye shadow. Basically, Katy went for it!
Legendary makeup artist and brand-owner Pat McGrath did Katy's makeup using her new Labs Dark Star 006 Version UltraViolet Blue.
Oh, and don't forget about her nail art, also featuring iconic Commes des Garcons motifs.

Jimmy Kimmel Tearfully Recounts His Newborn Son's Health Scare in Powerful Monologue
Jimmy Kimmel is known for making us laugh, but in a rare 13-minute monologue at the start of his late show last night, he likely made every single person watching cry. Just a few seconds in, he got emotional as he revealed that his son William John Kimmel, was born on April 21 with a serious, frightening heart issue.
Following a typical birth ("six pushes, he was out"), a nurse noticed that young Billy was a bit purple in color. Kimmel was in the room, which began filling with doctors and machines, when he learned that there was a problem with his newborn's heart.
"It's a terrifying thing," Kimmel said, his voice breaking. "You know, my wife is back in the recovery room, she has no idea what's going on and I'm standing in the middle of a lot of worried looking people -- kind of like right now -- who were trying to figure out what the problem is."
Through a mix of tears and laughter, Kimmel told the story of what happened next, thanked those who helped his family through those difficult moments, and made a bold statement about President Donald Trump's recent proposal of $6 billion in healthcare cuts that could adversely affect children across the nation.
"If your baby is going to die and it doesn't have to, it shouldn't matter how much money you make," he said. "I think that's something that whether you're a Republican or a Democrat or something else, we all agree on that, right?"

Following a typical birth ("six pushes, he was out"), a "very attentive" nurse noticed that young Billy was a bit purple in color. Kimmel was in the room, which began filling with doctors and machines, when he learned that there was a problem with his newborn's heart.
"It's a terrifying thing," Kimmel said, his voice breaking. "You know, my wife is back in the recovery room, she has no idea what's going on and I'm standing in the middle of a lot of worried-looking people – kind of like right now – who were trying to figure out what the problem is."
Through a mix of tears and laughter, Kimmel told the story of what happened next, thanked those who helped his family through those difficult moments, and made a bold statement about President Donald Trump's recent proposal of $6 billion in healthcare cuts that could adversely affect children across the nation.

See Every Sweet Piece of Too Faced's I Want Kandee Collection (With Swatches!)
Too Faced Cofounder and Chief Creative Officer Jerrod Blandino recently took to Instagram to share one of his enticing "sneaky peeks." The reveal, a 15-pan eye shadow palette, was a first look at the brand's new I Want Kandee collaboration in part with influencer Kandee Johnson. But the tantalizing tease was just a small slice of the upcoming collection - and we were one of the first people to get an exclusive look!
Together Too Faced and Kandee designed eight brand-new products that launch on Sept. 3 exclusively at Ulta. The delectable collection features the aforementioned Candy Eyes palette, but the sweetness doesn't stop there.
Fans of Kandee and Too Faced can also snag the new Candy Black Licorice Eyeliner, Candy Glow Highlighting Stick, Banana Pudding Brightening Face Powder, and not one but, four fresh Melted Matte Liquid Lipsticks - all curated by Kandee.
Hear that? That's the sound of our makeup bags having a full on sugar rush. And in true Too Faced fashion, each of the products smells good enough to eat (seriously, everything smells like vanilla ice cream).
We got to catch up with the duo at a press event for the launch. There, the pair shared that the collection stemmed from a routine phone call. "Kandee is one of my best friends, and she called me and said that she had wonderful ideas and recipes that could help women get their desired looks without intimidation" Jerrod shared.
As they brainstormed, Kandee revealed that she wanted to deliver a collection of her very own go-to products. "Everything I get asked the most about were the colors I wanted to create," she said. So the BFFs paired their unique expertise and passion for makeup to curate the new range.
Kandee also revealed that designing user-friendly products for women of all ages and complexions was a huge priority, and it's reflected in the fun, functional collection. "No matter your skin tone or age, these shouldn't be intimidating" she said.
Though you'll have to wait until September to get your Kandee fix, you can still get excited for the new products now. Ahead we've broken down the details of the fresh treats so you can get your taste buds makeup bag ready.
Hugh Jackman and His Wife Brought Their Decades-Long Romance to the Met Gala
Hugh Jackman and his wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, turned the Met Gala into their own personal date night. The couple, who recently celebrated their 21st wedding anniversary, got all dolled up for the event in NYC on Monday night. "We're just going out for a walk," the Logan actor captioned a photo of the two ahead of the event. While his wife matched her black dress with fishnet stockings, Hugh looked dashing in a tux and bow tie as they walked the red carpet.

Priyanka Chopra Looks Like a '90s Grunge Goddess at the Met Gala
This year's Met Gala theme was a tribute to Comme des Garcons's founder Rei Kawakubo, who embraces the avant-garde. Beauty chameleon Priyanka Chopra did not shy away from the challenge, with makeup artist Pati Dubroff re-creating "the glow that comes from being in a humid storm" on the star's stunning face. Dubroff, who used Laura Mercier makeup to craft the breathtaking look, exclusively revealed the details to POPSUGAR.
As you'll notice, there was a strong monochromatic aspect to Priyanka's beauty style (so grunge!), with the centerpiece of the look being her flashy metallic eye. "I thought about desert dunes and the play of light on those tones," Dubroff shared over email. "Her eye is like a bolt of lightning, mimicking her incredible Jennifer Fisher earrings."
Dubroff prepped Priyanka's skin by applying RéVive Moisturizing Renewal Eye Cream ($150) and RéVive Sensitif Renewal Cream ($215), then massaged in the formulas with frozen Makeup Drop applicators ($20 each), which depuffed and soothed her skin.
To create the "lightning bolt" eye, Dubroff created the shape with a sparkling liner, then topped it with the Metallik Pewter shade from Laura Mercier Editorial Eye Palette Intense Clays ($48). She added extra shine to the very center of the lid using MAC Cosmetics Pigment in Platinum ($22). Dubroff completed Priyanka's look with a cool chocolate lip, using Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Lip Colour in Crushed Pecan ($28).
While Priyanka obviously is flawless, she doesn't have to worry if her makeup melts slightly throughout the evening. Dubroff swears the foundation will last all night, but the highlighter layered on top may wear - and that's a good thing. "The more it wears and get juicy, the better," the makeup artist insisted, reminding us of the "humid storm" theme. (The star's skin will look sweaty and glowy by the time she heads out of her last afterparty, which is damn sexy.) Keep reading to see more shots of this hot look!
What?! Jennifer Lopez's Met Gala Dress Doesn't Show an Inch of Skin
We were fully prepared for Jennifer Lopez to show up at the 2017 Met Gala in New York City wearing a dress like the ones she's worn in the past: revealing, tight, risqué, sexy. Instead, what we got was a light blue Valentino dress that didn't show one. single. bit of skin.
Don't get us wrong, the powdery gown was gorgeous, featuring a sheer tulle overlay, turtleneck, and long train. It was so totally Old Hollywood and completely unexpected. But that's J Lo for you - she'll never cease to amaze us with her fashion choices. Scroll ahead for a closer look at her gown.
CBS News Anchors Failed to Ask Ivanka Trump Any Policy Questions in Her Latest Interview
No matter how accomplished a woman is, she will undoubtedly encounter gendered questions about her day-to-day life in interviews. Ivanka Trump, who just landed a position in the White House, is no different. During an unplanned appearance on CBS News's White House broadcast on May 1, the hosts chatted with Trump for roughly 10 minutes and failed to ask her a single question on policy or her work.
Instead, hosts Gayle King, Charlie Rose, and Erica Hill questioned Trump about adjusting to life in DC, her kids, and whether she ever sees her husband Jared Kushner (presumably because he is also busy in her father's administration).
"It has been adjustment for our family," said Trump. "But it's actually a really lovely place to live. The museums are incredible. There's space, which is nice. I think in New York you lack that."
Trump also talked about her standing date with her daughter to explore the city's landmarks. "There's really a lot to do. I think there's a lot to do in New York as well," Trump said. "But I think when you've grown up in a place, you actually take it for granted a little bit more. So we've been having fun."
In all fairness, the interview was spontaneous. The interview occurred because Trump popped her head into the room where CBS was filming. The hosts then convinced her to briefly appear on the broadcast - which accounts for some of the interview's levity - and the hosts seemed to recognize the conversation's superficiality.
"We want to invite you back here for serious conversations about what you're doing," Rose added. "We sort of coaxed you to sit down and you weren't expecting it." Kushner also makes an unexpected appearance in the background of the interview, though the hosts were unsuccessful in persuading him to join his wife on the broadcast.
Given that the Trump administration has already rolled back programs that benefit women and children, causes Trump has said she champions, perhaps Trump's next interview will elicit more concrete answers. The public definitely deserves to hear why she allowed the administration to scrap former First Lady Michelle Obama's Let Girls Learn initiative.
Bella Hadid Slipped Into a Sexy Little Nothing of a Dress For the Met Gala Afterparty
When you show up to the Met Gala in a see-through, backless jumpsuit, is there the option of choosing a sexier outfit for the afterparty? You'd think no, but Bella Hadid proved there are tinier swathes of fabric to step out in. She joined the Wang squad, including Zoe Kravitz and Behati Prinsloo, on the party bus post-Ball, dressed in a glittering mesh mini.
Bella ditched a bra and opted for two strips of boob tape, putting her high waisted briefs on display down below. And just when you thought the end to her sheer was near, Bella finished her look with lucite heels - almost invisible, if it weren't for Wang's signature studs at the base. Scroll to see Bella's stunning, sexy-as-hell transformation throughout the night.

Question: Why the Hell Wasn't Sarah Jessica Parker at the Met Gala?
A lot of fashion-forward celebrities showed up to the Met Gala in NYC on Monday night, but one very important figure was missing from the fun: Sarah Jessica Parker. This is a huge deal. We've grown accustomed to seeing SJP at the big event every year, because let's be real: she is New York City fashion. There isn't an art exhibit, Broadway play opening, or ballet fundraiser where she doesn't at least pop up inside, so we - and many other Met Gala followers - are pretty bummed that she didn't attend.
Why wasn't she there? Is she sick? Tired? Busy filming Sex and the City 3? Is it because that woman tried to come for her Hamilton-inspired look last year?! The only clue we have so far about her whereabouts is a cryptic Instagram video she shared on Monday morning while making coffee, and it's not much to go on. And before you ask, YES, we also checked her BFF Andy Cohen's Twitter feed, and there was nothing there either. Scroll through them now while we wait for some sort of explanation from the woman herself.
This Beautiful Outdoor Wedding Will Make You Consider Saying "I Do" at a Winery
Kristen and Nick's love story began at a rooftop party in San Francisco. They met through a mutual friend and couldn't leave each other's sides that evening. They went out again the following week, and clearly, things went very well between the two.
The couple wanted their friends and family to be the center of the wedding. They chose a beautiful winery in Healdsburg, CA, that was a perfect venue alone without all the frill. They kept things simple and limited the decor to show just enough personalization, which made their outdoor nuptials look effortlessly gorgeous. The ceremony was followed by cocktails, dinner, and dancing, finally ending with an afterparty downtown.
15 Times Barack Obama Reminded Us That He and Michelle Are a Walking Fairy Tale
Image Source: Getty / Taylor Hill
The grass is green, the sky is blue, and Barack Obama is one of the best damn public speakers who's ever walked the earth. Even if you don't agree with his policies, you can't deny his mastery of the English language. During his presidency this skill served him well for obvious reasons, but never have the words come as easily to him than when he's talking about his wife, fearless former First Lady and all-around badass Michelle Obama. The power couple began dating back in 1989, and it's obvious that Barack has been smitten ever since. If you need a quick reminder that yes, love still does exist, take a look through his best, most romantic quotes about Michelle.
- On her legacy as first lady: "Michelle LaVaughn Robinson, girl of the South Side. For the past 25 years you have not only been my wife and mother of my children, you have been my best friend. You took on a role you didn't ask for, and you made it your own, with grace and with grit and with style and good humor. You made the White House a place that belongs to everybody. And a new generation sets its sights higher because it has you as a role model. So, you have made me proud and you have made the country proud."
- On their first kiss: "We were at a law firm together, I was a Summer associate, she was already practicing law. I had been sort of eyeing her for a while, but she was acting real professional. Finally I wear her down a little bit and I say, we're coming back from a firm picnic and I said, 'Well let's go get some ice cream.' We went to Baskin-Robbins on 53rd Street in Chicago, she bought chocolate, I don't remember what I bought. They didn't have any seats in the store so we sat out on a curb on a Summer day and had ice cream, and that's when I asked her if I could kiss her."
- On how she's true to herself: "As usual, people always realize how much better Michelle is than me . . . she's a wonderful person and she's a genuine person. I never see her in different settings and somehow she's different with different people."
- On her magnetic personality: "If you were going to list the 100 most popular things that I have done as president, being married to Michelle Obama is number one."
- On how she's helped him every step of the way: "Obviously I couldn't have done anything that I've done without Michelle. You were asking earlier what keeps me sane, what keeps me balanced, what allows me to deal with the pressure. It is this young lady right here . . . Not only has she been a great first lady, she is just my rock. I count on her in so many ways every single day."
- On how she's changed the way he looks at the world: "Michelle was trying to figure out, OK, if the kids get sick why is it that she's the one who has to take time off of her job to go pick them up from school, as opposed to me? What I tried to do was to learn to be thoughtful enough and introspective enough that I wasn't always having to be told that things were unfair."
- On her making him a better man: "There's no doubt I'm a better man having spent time with Michelle. I would never say that Michelle's a better woman, but I will say she's a little more patient."
- One one of her best traits: "She's also funny. She's the funniest person in our family."
- On how she's like Queen Bey: "Michelle's like Beyoncé in that song, 'Let me upgrade ya!' She upgraded me."
- On her patriotism: "Anybody who knows her well knows she's got the best sense of humor of anyone you'd ever want to meet. She's the most quintessentially American person I know . . . She's just a wonderfully normal, levelheaded person. Any American woman who meets her would immediately identify her as a fellow traveler."
- On her 2016 Democratic National Convention speech: "Incredible speech by an incredible woman. Couldn't be more proud & our country has been blessed to have her as FLOTUS. I love you, Michelle."
- On how she keeps him grounded: "What I value most about my marriage is that it is separate and apart from a lot of the silliness of Washington. And Michelle is not part of that silliness."
- On why they're such a good team: "She is a great mom. What is also true is Michelle's had to accommodate a life that it's fair to say was not necessarily what she envisioned for herself. She has to put up with me. And my schedule and my stresses. And she's done a great job on that. But I think it would be a mistake to think that my wife, when I walk in the door, is, 'Hey, honey, how was your day? Let me give you a neck rub.' It's not as if Michelle is thinking in terms of, 'How do I cater to my husband?' I think it's much more, 'We're a team, and how do I make sure that this guy is together enough that he's paying attention to his girls and not forgetting the basketball game that he's supposed to be going to on Sunday?' So she's basically managing me quite effectively."
- On their unbreakable connection: "Sometimes, when we're lying together, I look at her and I feel dizzy with the realization that here is another distinct person from me, who has memories, origins, thoughts, feelings that are different from my own. That tension between familiarity and mystery meshes something strong between us. Even if one builds a life together based on trust, attentiveness, and mutual support, I think that's it's important that a partner continues to surprise."
- On why she's so relatable: "Having said all those things, the quality I love most about her is, she's honest and genuine. I think that comes across to people. They get a sense that they can trust her. You know, the word 'authenticity' is overused these days. But I do think it captures what folks are looking for - not just in leaders, but also in friends and in co-workers - and that is, folks who are on the level. People like that tell you what they think and don't have a bunch of hidden motives. That's who Michelle is."
Thalia's Met Gala Gown Has a Sexy Detail That's Simply Impossible to Miss
Thalia arrived at the 2017 Met Gala in one of the sexiest dresses she's worn yet . . . or, well, this year. The Mexican multi-hyphenate took to the red carpet wearing a sequined black Tommy Hilfiger gown with an eye-catching diagonal cutout at the neckline. She paired the dress with a metallic clutch and minimalistic heels.
But the party didn't start on the red carpet for Thalia. Before the event, she shared a picture of herself getting ready with Dee Ocleppo Hilfiger - and by "getting ready," we mean drinking Champagne. She just gets it!
Keep reading for more from Thalia.

7 Times Trump Proved He Knows Nothing About History
During an interview with SiriusXM, President Donald Trump demonstrated, once again, that he lacks a basic understanding of American history by suggesting former President Andrew Jackson could've stopped the Civil War had he been the president at the time.
"I mean, had Andrew Jackson been a little later, you wouldn't have had the Civil War. He was a very tough person, but he had a big heart," Trump claimed. "And he was really angry that . . . he saw what was happening with regard to the Civil War. He said, 'There's no reason for this.'"
Trump followed with another bizarre assertion. "People don't realize, you know, the Civil War - if you think about it, why," Trump wondered. "People don't ask that question, but why was there the Civil War? Why could that one not have been worked out?"
There's only one problem with Trump's postulation: Jackson died a decade before the Civil War started, so he couldn't have had an opinion on the crisis. Perhaps even less shocking than Trump's erroneous contention about Jackson is Trump's constant and consistent misunderstanding of history. Prepare to shake your head at six other times Trump proved he knows very little about the country he is supposed to run, nor much about countries he is supposed to liaise with.
1. When he seemed to think Frederick Douglass was alive.
During Trump's speech honoring Black History Month on Feb. 1, he suggested that the abolitionist was still alive. Trump described Douglass as "someone who has done a terrific job that is being recognized by more and more people." His comments were ridiculed across social media.
2. When he appeared to forget that Richard Nixon resigned because he broke the law.
In an interview on April 2 with The Washington Post's Bob Woodward, who broke the Watergate story that lead to Nixon's impeachment, Trump implied that Nixon failed because of his personality. Woodward asked Trump why he thought Lincoln succeeded and Nixon didn't. Trump blamed Nixon's temperament.
"Nixon failed, I think to a certain extent, because of his personality," Trump told Woodward. "It was just that personality. Very severe, very exclusive. In other words, people couldn't come in. And people didn't like him. I mean, people didn't like him."
Given that Woodward published the story which lead to Nixon's resignation, Trump's error is fairly astounding - and Woodward had to remind Trump that Nixon was a criminal. "And he broke the law," Woodward added.
Trump's response is hesitant, but he acknowledged Nixon's crimes. "And he broke the law, yeah. Yeah. He broke the law. Whether that's insecurity . . ." said Trump.
3. When he didn't realize that the Republican party used to be called "The Party of Lincoln."
At a rally in Louisville, KY, on March 20, Trump apparently did not realize the Republican party is often referred to as Lincoln's party. "Great president. Most people don't even know he was a Republican," Trump said. "Does anyone know? Lot of people don't know that."
4. When he confused North Korean leader Kim Jong Un with his grandfather, Kim Jong Il.
While being interviewed on Fox & Friends about North Korean aggression on April 18, Trump conflated current leader Kim Jong Un with his predecessor and grandfather Kim Jong Il.
"They've been talking with this gentleman for a long time," Trump said of America's dialogue with North Korea. "You read Clinton's book, he said, 'Oh, we made such a great peace deal,' and it was a joke." Later, Trump continued to assert his misunderstanding. "Everybody has been outplayed, they've all been outplayed by this gentleman, and we'll see what happens," Trump added with reference to Obama's negotiations.
Trump was evidently unaware that Kim Jong Un has only been in power since 2011 - after the death of his grandfather. So, both Clinton and Obama have deliberated with both leaders - not just one "gentleman" as Trump insinuates.
5. When he said that North Korea used to be a part of China.
Following Trump's meeting with the President of China Xi Jinping, Trump revealed yet another misunderstanding of global history on April 12. Describing his meeting with Xi and their discussion of North Korea, Trump asserted that North Korea was once a part of China. Not only was he wrong, Trump implied that Xi delivered this information. Koreans were outraged by Trump's comments.
6. When the administration failed to mention Jews specifically in its statement for Holocaust Memorial Day
On January 27, Holocaust Remembrance Day, the White House released a particularly tone-deaf statement. While it acknowledged "the victims, survivors, heroes" of the Holocaust, the White House's release did not specifically recognize the six million Jews who died. Many Americans took the administration's omission as an act of anti-Semitism.

Lena Dunham Completely Owns Creeping On Joe Jonas at the Met Gala
The Met Gala went down in NYC on Monday night, and while it definitely is a sophisticated and glamorous affair, there are still some hilarious moments that happen. One of those moments at this year's event was courtesy of Lena Dunham, who hilariously poked fun at a photo of her creeping behind Joe Jonas. She tweeted the snap shortly after it happened, writing, "In my rightful place, lurking behind a Jonas #MetGala 😐😐😐." Since Joe didn't pose for photos with his girlfriend, Sophie Turner, he was free for people to stare at. And honestly, if we were on that carpet, we would be creepin' right alongside you, Lena.
3 Signs Your Daughter Has a Yeast Infection
Nearly 75 percent of all adult women have had the common infection genital/vulvovaginal candidiasis - otherwise known as a yeast infection- at least once in their lives, according to Centers For Disease Control and Prevention. The common infection occurs when there is an overgrowth of the yeast Candida, which is always present in the body in small amounts but can multiply when the normal acidity or hormonal balance changes.
As Lois P. explains, "Candidal yeast infections are common in all girls, even babies. It lives on the surface of everyone's skin and normally does not cause any problems. Sometimes when you use too much soap/bubble bath/shower gel, wear synthetic underwear, or even just get too hot, the delicate balance of bacteria that normally keeps it at bay is tipped, and it starts to overgrow and cause a problem with infection."
Readers often report that grade-school girls pick up the infection, especially when they are still learning to wipe properly after using the toilet. And when that happens, the symptoms are too aggravating to ignore. When Erin B.'s daughter gets a yeast infection, for instance, it itches so much that "she scratches so bad that she makes the area bleed, then the scratching leads to a bacterial infections."
To prevent such problems, parents obviously want to nip yeast infections in the bud. To help, we've summarized three common signs of a yeast infection, signaling it's time to see a doctor.
1. The area is inflamed and itchy
One of the first signs that might cause your daughter to alert you about a possible yeast infection is when the area becomes inflamed and itchy. "I have two little girls, ages 6 and 9, who often get the redness and itchiness around the labia," says mom Marianne S., noting that yeast infections tend to flare up in the Summer when her daughters wear tight pants and sweat more.
Sherri C. agrees that "early signs of vaginal yeast infection include itching and burning in the vagina and around the vulva, which is the skin surrounding the vagina. Another sign of a vaginal yeast infection is dry, flaky skin in the same area."
2. There is a cheesy-looking discharge
In addition to the skin inflammation and itching, a yeast infection is "generally associated with a cheesy discharge," mom Veronica says. The discharge is typically thick, white, and curd-like, Sherri C. adds. "It may look like cottage cheese or ricotta cheese. While it is usually odorless, this discharge may have a faint smell like bread or yeast, even though what is used in baking and brewing is an entirely different type of yeast. The discharge can range from thick to faintly yellow to thin and clear."
If there's no "white, curd-like stuff in the folds of her skin," then red, itchy skin might just be a sign of a rash instead of a yeast infection, Amanda G. says. "If she's not having the discharge, she could just be irritated by something," Katherine C. agrees. But a smelly discharge "usually means that the bad bacteria has overtaken the good," Melana S. says.
3. Has she taken antibiotics lately?
Aside from the itching and discharge, a yeast infection can be difficult to diagnose, as the symptoms are often similar to those of other infections. As a result, is important to see your doctor for a proper diagnosis and treatment with the correct medication, the CDC says. Nevertheless, a yeast infection is a likely suspect if your daughter has recently taken antibiotics.
When antibiotics fight infections, an unfortunate outcome is that they can sometimes simultaneously kill good bacteria that keeps yeast in balance, Noreen B. explains. "If she has been on antibiotics, she may have a lack of good bacteria that fights the yeast. I have a sensitivity to some antibiotics and have had it flare up in many body areas," she says.
Still, the only way to properly diagnose a yeast infection is to take a sample of the discharge to see if an abnormal amount of Candida organisms are present, the CDC says. Moreover, while over-the-counter medications are available, "it is important to be sure of the diagnosis before treating a genital/vulvovaginal candidiasis infection . . . because overuse of these medications can increase the chance that they will eventually not work because the yeast can become resistant to treatment."
So, readers conclude, when you suspect your daughter might have a yeast infection, see your pediatrician immediately to get your girl some relief.
