Miley Cyrus Clarifies Controversial Comments About Rap Music: "I Respect ALL Artists"

When Miley Cyrus recently sat down with Billboard for an interview, she discussed everything from why she and fiancé Liam Hemsworth first broke up, to the new direction she's taking her music in. Her comments on the latter subject focused on how she's shifting from a hip-hop style to more of a singer-songwriter approach, but that she really appreciates Kendrick Lamar's new song, "Humble." "I love that because it's not 'Come sit on my dick, suck on my cock.' I can't listen to that anymore," she explained. "That's what pushed me out of the hip-hop scene a little. It was too much 'Lamborghini, got my Rolex, got a girl on my cock' - I am so not that."

This comment in particular drew the ire of more than a few people on Twitter, who accused her of only using black culture "when it's convenient." If it sounds familiar, it's because this isn't the first time the 24-year-old has faced similar criticism. After exiting Disney's Hannah Montana, Miley revamped her image by twerking at the 2013 VMAs and releasing her album Bangerz, which she described as "dirty South hip-hop." To many, it seemed like Miley was using black culture to make her image appear more subversive, likely to help distance her from her Disney roots. At the time, Vulture's Jody Rosen even called Miley's VMA performance (where she slapped the butt's of her black backup dancers) "a minstrel show routine," and said "her act tipped over into what we may as well just call racism."

On Saturday, Miley shared a lengthy statement on Instagram clarifying what she told Billboard, emphasizing that she respects "all artists who speak their truth" and "appreciates all genres of music."

"When articles are read it isn't always considered that for hours I've spoken with a journalist about my life , where my heart is, my perspective at that time, and the next step in my career. Unfortunately only a portion of that interview makes it to print, & A lot of the time publications like to focus on the most sensationalized part of the conversation. So, to be clear I respect ALL artists who speak their truth and appreciate ALL genres of music (country , pop , alternative .... but in this particular interview I was asked about rap) I have always and will continue to love and celebrate hip hop as I've collaborated with some of the very best! At this point in my life I am expanding personally/musically and gravitating more towards uplifting, conscious rap! As I get older I understand the effect music has on the world & Seeing where we are today I feel the younger generation needs to hear positive powerful lyrics! I am proud to be an artist with out borders and thankful for the opportunity to explore so many different styles/ sounds! I hope my words (sung or spoken) always encourage others to LOVE.... Laugh.... Live fully.... to be there for one another... to unify, and to fight for what's right (human , animal , or environmental ) Sending peace to all! Look forward to sharing my new tunes with you soon! - MC"

Miley is gearing up to release her sixth studio album sometime this year, which we'll get a taste of when she drops her first single, "Malibu," on May 11.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: Who the Heck Is Adam?!

Warning: spoilers below.

Out of all five end credits sequences in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, only one really matters. It's the third scene, and it features a revenge-bent Ayesha (Elizabeth Debecki) introducing a new creation. Ayesha is the high priestess of a genetically ideal race of aliens known as the Sovereign, and all their members are scientifically engineered, not born. Ayesha is wildly frustrated, as the Guardians have outsmarted them for the second time. She reveals a giant pod, telling another member of the Sovereign that this superalien is incredibly strong. "I think I shall call him Adam," she declares.

This new character is Adam Warlock, a beloved hero in the Marvel world. In the books, his origin story is a bit different; he's created by a group of scientists called the Beehive, and for a long time, he was simply known as "Him." His powers include strength, speed, stamina, and extreme healing, but his signature move is encasing himself in a cocoon (which we see in the credits sequence) at a moment's notice. He is powerful on his own, but he can also harness the power of the Infinity Stones (known as the Infinity Gems in the books) to increase his energy.

Though Ayesha is clearly creating him to combat the Guardians, Adam is actually their ally in the books. He fights alongside them and is one of Thanos's most notable enemies. While Adam is good, he has an evil alter ego named Magus.

During interviews for Vol. 2, director James Gunn told SlashFilm that Adam will not appear in Infinity War, the next Avengers movie. "But he will be a part of the future Marvel cosmic universe and a pretty important part of that." Hmmm.

So basically, he's Kind of a Big Deal.

An Artist Gave the Selena Doll a Makeover - and the Results Are Mind-Blowing

The original "Amor Prohibido" Selena Quintanilla doll is beautiful, but if we're being honest, it didn't really capture Selena's essence - until now.

Noel Cruz, a distinguished repaint artist in the doll community, decided to take on the task of giving Selena's doll a much-needed makeover. Cruz made the doll come to life by adding three-dimensional repainting, shading, and highlighting on the eyebrows, lips, and eyes "to faithfully transform the doll into the accurate and life-like likeness of singing legend Selena Quintanilla," he wrote on eBay, where the doll sold for $1,000.

To give his masterpiece an even more realistic look, Cruz also switched up the doll's hairstyle and body, saying: "The original body has been replaced with Mattel Fashion Model Barbie body which is a better fit, scale-wise. The original body was very swingy and loose and not quite scale appropriate." Keep scrolling to see the full transformation.

Priyanka Chopra Looks Like a '90s Grunge Goddess at the Met Gala

This year's Met Gala theme was a tribute to Comme des Garcons's founder Rei Kawakubo, who embraces the avant-garde. Beauty chameleon Priyanka Chopra did not shy away from the challenge, with makeup artist Pati Dubroff re-creating "the glow that comes from being in a humid storm" on the star's stunning face. Dubroff, who used Laura Mercier makeup to craft the breathtaking look, exclusively revealed the details to POPSUGAR.

As you'll notice, there was a strong monochromatic aspect to Priyanka's beauty style (so grunge!), with the centerpiece of the look being her flashy metallic eye. "I thought about desert dunes and the play of light on those tones," Dubroff shared over email. "Her eye is like a bolt of lightning, mimicking her incredible Jennifer Fisher earrings."

Dubroff prepped Priyanka's skin by applying RéVive Moisturizing Renewal Eye Cream ($150) and RéVive Sensitif Renewal Cream ($215), then massaged in the formulas with frozen Makeup Drop applicators ($20 each), which depuffed and soothed her skin.

To create the "lightning bolt" eye, Dubroff created the shape with a sparkling liner, then topped it with the Metallik Pewter shade from Laura Mercier Editorial Eye Palette Intense Clays ($48). She added extra shine to the very center of the lid using MAC Cosmetics Pigment in Platinum ($22). Dubroff completed Priyanka's look with a cool chocolate lip, using Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Lip Colour in Crushed Pecan ($28).

While Priyanka obviously is flawless, she doesn't have to worry if her makeup melts slightly throughout the evening. Dubroff swears the foundation will last all night, but the highlighter layered on top may wear - and that's a good thing. "The more it wears and get juicy, the better," the makeup artist insisted, reminding us of the "humid storm" theme. (The star's skin will look sweaty and glowy by the time she heads out of her last afterparty, which is damn sexy.) Keep reading to see more shots of this hot look!

Facebook Is Accused of Revealing to Advertisers How to Reach "Defeated" Teens

Facebook is proving once again how well it knows your habits on its app - and why you should think twice about everything you do on it. According to a report by The Australian on May 1, Facebook revealed how to target teens who feel "worthless" or "insecure."

The report comes from a leaked 23-page document, given in a presentation given to a bank by two of Facebook's top Australian executives. The document shows how Facebook used algorithms in Australia and New Zealand to collect data and see when teens feel "stressed," "defeated," "anxious," and other emotions. The presentation even went so far as to explain the best times to reach a teen. "Anticipatory emotions are more likely to be expressed early in the week, while reflective emotions increase on the weekend," the leaked Facebook presentation read. "Monday-Thursday is about building confidence; the weekend is for broadcasting achievements."

Facebook has since commented on the article and the research presented in the document. "Facebook does not offer tools to target people based on their emotional state," wrote the company in a post. "The analysis done by an Australian researcher was intended to help marketers understand how people express themselves on Facebook. It was never used to target ads and was based on data that was anonymous and aggregated." The company also stated it is reviewing the specific details of this case to "correct the oversight" in the research.

This type of controversy isn't new to Facebook. Back in October 2016, ProPublica published an extensive researched piece on how Facebook lets advertisers choose who to reach and exclude - by race.

Miley Cyrus Will Win You Over With Her Wedding Dress

I don't know when or if Miley Cyrus is getting married. While Billy Ray Cyrus posted a photo that suggests she and Liam Hemsworth tied the knot, it hasn't been confirmed. Maybe Miley isn't even thinking about marriage. But in my imaginary world, she walks down the aisle in a pretty spectacular wedding dress. You see, ever since I was young, I looked at Miley as someone who represented versatility. She played two different characters on Hannah Montana, and my younger sister plastered posters of Miley all over her walls, some in which she was dressed up like Hannah, others in which she was just herself in jeans and a three-quarter-sleeved tee. But even when she was just being Miley, the actress and singer looked unique and a little bit quirky.

She's gone through many stages, but there has never been a time when Miley's paid attention to trends. During her rise to fame, she wore flares and cowboy boots, maybe because they were representative of where she came from: Franklin, TN. Post-breakup with Liam Hemsworth (the two have rekindled their relationship), Miley kind of went HAM with her wardrobe. And I liked it. What she wore, or didn't wear, was all a part of her personal revolution.

Miley's style at this point could basically be described as costume like. She dressed as a twerking teddy bear and supported LGBT rights in rainbows and big, furry coats. Then, at the 2015 Met Gala, the industry's elite gathered on the red carpet, but Miley stood alone in a cutout Alexander Wang gown. It ended up on some "worst dressed" lists, but I think it was my favorite outfit of the night. It didn't seem like Miley was trying to appear sexy or edgy but just to look like herself.

So now, as outsiders speculate on whether Miley and Liam got hitched, I can't help but to imagine her would-be bridal look. I doubt Miley Cyrus's wedding dress will be all white. It might be neon, a mix of colors, or come with an inflatable skirt. Miley might not wear a wedding dress at all, should she get married. Maybe she'll go naked. She did reveal on the Today show that she prefers to stay out of the fashion conversation: "I don't want people to talk about what I'm wearing. That's usually why I don't wear too much," she said.

One thing's for sure: if Miley Cyrus gets married, her look won't include a ballgown so glamorous that everyone focuses on the pretty (or crazy!) details. They won't be talking about The Dress, because god knows it won't be wearing her. It'll be all about Miley. Read on to see why we know Miley will hit it out of the park on her special day.

Jennifer Lopez Gives Us Serious Chill Vibes While on a Date With Alex Rodriguez

Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez have reached maximum comfort level. The 47-year-old singer, actress, and World of Dance judge was out with her new boyfriend in New York City just a few days after her stunning and glamorous appearance at the Billboard Latin Music Awards in Miami. But in contrast to her gravity-defying sexy look on the red carpet, J Lo was looking super chill, dressed for a low-key date night.

Wearing her hair curly (like her character on Shades of Blue), cute slacks, an oversize cardigan, and Monika Chiang boots, J Lo was ready for a cozy night - and perhaps was taking a break ahead of the Met Gala. Keep scrolling to see more photos of the couple's outing.

The 1 Thing About Breastfeeding No One Talks About

Moms often lament about the endless feeding cycles or the pain of engorgement. You've heard about the horrors of cracked nipples and mastitis. But no one seems to swap stories about what can happen when you stop nursing: sadness, anxiety, even depression. Unlike postpartum depression and the postdelivery "baby blues," not a lot of people know about - or talk about - the blues that can sneak up on you when you wean your little one.

For me, the sadness came as a total surprise. I had chosen to stop nursing when my son was about 7 months old. My pumping efforts had been yielding fewer and fewer ounces and an impending trip where I'd have little time to pump gave me a "reason" to just call it quits. Within a week, I had fully finished nursing, and, beyond the joy that came from putting my pumping supplies into storage, I honestly didn't think much about it. I felt totally OK with my decision until about two weeks later when I didn't.

I felt sad. I felt bad about stopping. I felt generally down. I wasn't enjoying my sweet baby like I had been. It was subtle, but it was still very obvious to me that something was off. And it seemed to come out of nowhere. After a few days in a slump, I took to the internet, as one does, in search of other mothers who also felt what I thought was just "guilt after weaning."

I stumbled upon an article that I remembered reading before I was even pregnant. It was Joanna Goodard's essay about realizing her six-week bout of depression was related to abruptly weaning her son. In addition to her honest and relatable account, she shared stories from her readers and friends who'd gone through the same thing. She linked to another blogger's post about "weaning sadness." That article has 63 comments, many from women who'd had similar experiences. A further Google search of "weaning and depression" led me to a short post from the popular breastfeeding resource KellyMom confirming that "it's not unusual to feel tearful, sad or mildly depressed after weaning."

So this was, in fact, a real thing. Just a thing that no one seems to talk about, or really even know about. The medical literature to support this experience is hard to find, if it even exists. A decades-old article on La Leche League explains that "the sudden shift in hormones" that comes from abrupt weaning may lead to feelings of depression. The First Year version of the trusty What to Expect series casually mentions hormonal issues in a chapter dedicated to weaning and states that "you'll probably be more than a little misty at the end of this chapter of your child's life."

"The sudden shift in hormones" that comes from abrupt weaning may lead to feelings of depression.

In my own ob/gyn's 78-page handbook given to expecting mothers, one page is devoted to breastfeeding and another to explaining postpartum blues and depression, but there is zero mention of the potential to experience changes in mood or irritability during or after weaning. Why is no one talking about this? Or informing moms about this?

Dr. Iffath Hoskins, a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at NYU Medical Center says it's "quite rare" to encounter patients dealing with clinical depression related to weaning but that it is "quite common for patients to feel sad" due to the "transition from a phase that has large amounts of oxytocin production," which is "the hormone related to mothers feeling happy." She adds that because of the often gradual nature of weaning, "mothers may or may not be acutely aware of the related issues all at once."

Even if these feelings of sadness aren't always strong enough to warrant a diagnosis of actual depression, they often exist. And with almost 80 percent of US women at least attempting to breastfeed, it's a possibility that moms need to know about. Just being aware of your feelings can help you get through them and taking your time to wean can also be beneficial. Dr. Hoskins recommends weaning in stages and replacing the "happy mother-baby bonding time" of nursing with other interactions to lessen the effects of the hormonal shift you'll experience.

My mood picked back up within a week, but I wish I'd known what I was dealing with at the time, however slight the slump was. Now, with my second, I plan to go easy on myself and take the weaning process slowly since I know what I'm up against.

Keep This, Toss That: 8 Items in Your Medicine Cabinet You Should Check

I'm going to be transparent and let you know that I don't clean out my medicine cabinet until items are falling off the shelves. So, when that did happen the other day, I was forced to make some decisions based on expiration dates. But that also got me wondering whether some of those items were still usable beyond their stated life spans. I had three full bottles of sunscreen (no one needs that much sunscreen) that were sadly two months expired. I didn't want to toss them, so I did some googling and pleasantly learned that I was able to keep them, at least for my upcoming trip. Here are eight items you might be curious about, too.

  • Medicine: If you have a headache but notice your aspirin is expired, it's fine. Over 90 percent of drugs (excluding insulin, liquid antibiotics, and nitroglycerin) are still potent and safe to use even a decade after the stamped expiration date, as long as they're stored in a cool and dry place. Make sure to check with your doctor if you're not sure about something!
  • Toothpaste: Many of us stock up on more toothpaste than we ever need and find that we're left with a couple tubes past the expiration date. Toss them! Expired toothpaste isn't harmful, but your teeth may not be as protected compared to brushing with a fresh bottle. Most toothpaste is good for up to two years.
  • Perfume: Some people still have the same bottle they received years ago, especially if they rotate between a few. While perfume doesn't have a hard expiration date, it does change in fragrance and color after a few years. While some age like fine wine, others can spoil, so determine the state of yours with a sniff test. If the scent smells strange, toss it.
  • Topical ointments: Antibacterial ointments like Neosporin are safe to use up to a year after they expire. But we wouldn't push it much past that, especially if you're dealing with open cuts.
  • Toothbrush: When was the last time you swapped out your toothbrush? The American Dental Association recommends changing it every three to four months.
  • Hydrogen peroxide: An unopened bottle can last up to three years, but as soon as it's opened, its only good for six months. To test it out, pour some hydrogen peroxide into your sink and see if it fizzes. If it does, it's still OK. The expired product isn't harmful, but it won't be effective.
  • Rubbing alcohol: Similarly, an unopened bottle of rubbing alcohol can last up to three years. But it does have a longer shelf life than hydrogen peroxide and can be used two years after opening.
  • Sunscreen: Most sunscreens are good for up to three years from the purchase date. As long as it's stored in a cool and dry place, you can use it six months past the stamped expiration date, but toss it if it smells strange or changes in consistency. Because sun protection is crucial, it's always a safer bet to replace your bottle by the time it says to.

Since the majority of these items require being stored in a cool and dry place for optimal shelf life, you might want to take them out of your medicine cabinet. Heat and steam from your showers can reduce the effectiveness of the products and/or make them go bad quicker. Instead, opt for drawer storage that's away from heat and sun exposure.

The 9 Best Houseplants For Bathrooms

Anyone with a love for plants knows how they can cheer up a space! Indoor plants add a pop of color and freshness, and some can even help improve the air in your home. And what better room to freshen up than your bathroom? While it's not always the first room in your home you'd consider adding a plant to, your bathroom actually provides ideal growing conditions for certain species. With the moisture-heavy and often warm temperatures, bathrooms are the perfect place to add some flora to your home.

Janet Jackson Confirms Her Split From Wissam Al Mana in a Video to Her Fans

Janet Jackson doesn't have anything to hide from her fans. Just a few months after welcoming her first child, son Eissa, the singer posted a special message to YouTube on Monday. Aside from gushing about her beautiful, loving, and happy baby boy, she also confirmed that she is getting a divorce from her husband of almost five years and Eissa's father, Wissam Al Mana. "I just want to keep it real with you guys for a quick second," she began. "Yes, I separated from my husband. We are in court and the rest is in God's hands." Not wanting to end things on a sad note, Janet also revealed the exciting news that she is going back on the road this September after delaying her Unbreakable world tour to expand her family.

Is Walt Disney World Adding a 4th Mountain Attraction to the Magic Kingdom?

What's better than three mountain-themed attractions at Walt Disney World? Four mountain-themed attractions, obviously. Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, and Big Thunder Mountain are already Magic Kingdom favorites, but another attraction may be on its way - and the concept for it is actually pretty old. In the early 2000s, rumors flew that an attraction called Fire Mountain would be potentially making its way to the park, but the idea for the indoor flying roller coaster never became a reality.

Fast-forward to the present, where Disney is fresh off the heels of Moana's success. What better way to revisit an idea for a volcano mountain attraction than by incorporating elements from the newest film into the ride? The mountain ride would theoretically be built in the Adventureland section of the Magic Kingdom, but there are no confirmed reports . . . yet. Still, we can all dream about a fire-filled flying roller coaster featuring our newest favorite Disney princess, right? Check back for any future developments!

Olivia Munn's Baywatch Swimsuit Comes With a Personal Touch

Olivia Munn had something to say for her first time playing beer pong. The star geared up for the game with an appropriately labeled one-piece swimsuit that read, "Ride or Die." We're assuming that meant she was ready to win with a partner by her side, though it could also be a total coincidence that the swimsuit happened to match the scene.

The graphic swimsuit is one we've seen on plenty of celebs, such as Hailey Baldwin and Kourtney Kardashian. It looks like last Summer's It piece will stick around for this year too. Though we hope Olivia won the game, in terms of her swim style, there is no match. She's the clear victor.

7 Nail Remedies Your Grandma Always Talked About That Actually Work

Our abuelas grew up in a time before you could find a beauty bar for your hair next to one for your skin next to one for your nails, which means we've inherited some of the cheapest and most effective DIY beauty tips from them. For my abuela, nails were a particular point of pride. She always had long, strong nails that she would only paint with clear nail polish as to not damage them. But that wasn't her only secret. Below are some tips on how to strengthen, smooth, and grow the nails you've always dreamed of.

1. Put garlic in your nail polish.

Honestly, second to Vicks VapoRub, garlic is the solution for everything. If you put it in your tea, it'll help fight a cold or stomach problems. If you put it in your clear nail polish (we mean literally put it in the bottle and let the varnish absorb it) your nails will be stronger.

2. Rub olive oil on your nails.

Have you ever noticed that many of our grandma's beauty tips revolve around things that are found in the kitchen? Talk about resourceful. Abuelas say that all you need to do for good nail beds is rub your nails with a bit of olive oil.

3. Smashed avocados keep your nails tough.

Guac may be extra at Chipotle, but it doesn't matter to abuela as long as it is for your cuticle health. The avocados that make up your guac are the same avocados you should smash up and use to smooth out your cuticles.

4. A mask of olive oil, aloe vera, and honey keeps your nails from breaking.

Olive oil and honey are both staples in abuela's kitchen. She uses them to cook, cure colds and also make sure that everyone in her family has the smoothest, strongest nails. Mix a dab of each olive oil, aloe vera and honey in a small bowl, dip your nails in, and let the magic happen.

5. Make Vaseline your friend.

This is a little less DIY and a little more "your grandma's Glossier equivalent." The same way that you put Glossier's balm dot com ($12) on any dry surface in your body, your grandma swears by Vaseline ($4) to soften cuticles and improve overall nail health.

6. Mix sugar, olive oil, and lemon juice for hydration.

This may sound like the beginning of a very strange recipe, but it's actually an exfoliating and hydrating tip abuelas have passed on for decades. Place some sugar on your hands, add a bit of olive oil and lemon juice, and then rub the mix on your hands as you would any other lotion. After you rinse, apply a hydrating lotion and you'll have supersoft hands and cuticles.

7. Wear rubber gloves.

Grandma's biggest tip: Always, always, always wear rubber gloves when you do the dishes. My nails could actually make her proud or leave me listening to a very long lecture on why I should take care of my hands better.

Queen Elizabeth II Has Prince William By Her Side Following Prince Philip Announcement

When the British royal staff was called to an emergency meeting concerning Prince Philip early on Thursday morning at Buckingham Palace some feared the worst for the 95-year-old, but thankfully it was only to announce his decision to step down from public duties. The next day, Queen Elizabeth II hosted a private lunch without her husband, but luckily had the support of her grandson, Prince William. Together they greeted Burma's de facto leader Aung San Suu Kyi at Buckingham Palace, chatting and happily posing for photos together.

William, who recently celebrated daughter Princess Charlotte's second birthday, has been taking on more royal duties over the last few months from Her Majesty, who is taking a step back. William and brother Prince Harry have gone on royal tours to places like Canada and some of the Caribbean islands in place of Queen Elizabeth II, and in 2013, William performed his first investiture. Although Prince Philip won't be as much of a presence at royal events in the coming months, it's clear that William and Harry are more than ready to step in.

Tater Tot Nachos Are Here to Change Your Damn Life (and Cure Your Hangovers)

As an admittedly indecisive eater, I'm all about getting the best of both worlds via a good ol' food hybrid. sushi tacos, pizza spring rolls, spaghetti doughnuts - you name it, and I'm all about it. So when I recently came across the greasy gloriousness that is totchos (tater tot nachos), I added it to the top of my endless must-try list.

If totchos have been catapulted to the top of your list too, you're in luck, because this food hybrid is super easy to DIY at home. Simply swap tortilla chips for tater tots (because what are calories, am I right?), and load on the toppings. We're talkin' melted cheese, salsa, sour cream, black beans, guacamole, and heck, even jalapeños if you're feeling spicy. Just like that, the most Instagrammable snack mashup can be yours.

This genius combo isn't necessarily new, as they've been a staple in our Super Bowl food lineup (and are perfect for those post-game-day hangovers, too). But it seems like more and more carb-loving foodies have been sharing photos of their crave-inducing totchos, making us fall more and more in love with them with every post. Need some inspiration to stock up on totcho ingredients next time you're at the grocery store? The mouthwatering photos ahead should do the trick.

How to Get Sexy, Cellulite-Free Legs This Summer - According to Top Derms

Image Source: Popsugar Photography / Sheila Gim

On the first warm-weather day of Spring, I went to work in a sundress for the first time since last year. As I sat at my desk, I looked down at my previously pants-covered legs and was horrified. They looked like they were covered in dust, were paler than any other part of my body, and somehow had become uneven and splotchy. Winter had done quite a number on my normally smooth, carefully buffed and bronzed legs.

If you recently had a similar experience, don't freak out. I turned to dermatologists Dr. Dendy Engleman and Dr. Heidi Waldorf to find out how to treat some common skin issues, like cellulite and varicose veins. You and I won't have to wear jeans in 85 degree weather to hide the damage cold weather did to our stems.

Keratosis Pilaris

You know those raised bumps you see on the back of your arms, legs, and sometimes even your butt? That isn't acne but actually keratosis pilaris (KP), sometimes referred to as chicken skin. The bumps are caused by a buildup of keratin in hair follicles, causing rough plugs.

According to Dr. Engleman, treating these harmless but unsightly bumps isn't difficult. "The most important concept of controlling KP is moisturizing the skin," Engleman explains. She also expressed that products containing chemical exfoliants can also help the problem. "My favorite products involve ingredients that can break up that excess keratin buildup such as alpha hydroxy acids, like lactic acid and glycolic acid, and beta hydroxy acids like salicylic acid."

If the problem persists, Dr. Engleman suggests trying retinoids, which are vitamin-A-derived and promote cell turnover. "Retinoids can gently exfoliate to remove dead skin cells if hydroxy acids don't give a noticeable improvement."

Dry, Scaly Skin

If you've noticed an uneven, scaly texture on your legs, it means the skin cells aren't falling off like they're supposed to. This can happen during cold weather or after using products with drying or irritating ingredients. Dr. Waldorf suggests exclusively using gentle products to prevent this. "The best way to prevent and treat scaly skin is to use a gentle cleanser that won't strip your skin, like Dove Body Wash ($6), followed by a moisturizer like Eucerin Smoothing Repair Lotion ($9)."

Discoloration

Sometimes a dark mark can be left behind on our skin from a cut or bug bite, known as post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. After your skin is red, itchy, or swollen, the skin can heal and look brown afterward. Unfortunately, dark marks on our legs fade slower than on our face and can last months.

Although you can use laser treatments to get rid of them, Dr. Waldorf suggests waiting until the Fall or Winter for these treatments. Instead, there's an easier route for even skin tone: "In the meantime, moisturize, [and] use alpha hydroxy acid and acid moisturizers to improve the pigment. [You can also] cover the spots with leg makeup or self tanner."

Varicose Veins

Varicose veins are dilated blood vessels caused by increased pressure on the veins. The causes of the pressure can range from standing for too long to pregnancy or even obesity. Dr. Engleman explains that there are two procedures available to get rid of these veins depending on the severity. "Sclerotherapy is the most common treatment and it involves injecting a solution into the vein that forces it to collapse, which stops blood flow. The vein will turn into a scar and fade after a few weeks."

If you have smaller spider veins, Dr. Engleman suggests laser treatment because these veins are harder to inject.

Cellulite

Cellulite happens when pockets of fat beneath the skin become squashed against tissue and create a dimpled appearance. Almost everyone has some amount of it, and according to Dr. Waldorf, it isn't connected to being overweight. If you'd like to reduce the appearance of cellulite, however, there are a few procedures and methods to remedy the appearance.

Injections
Dr. Waldorf suggest a filler such as Sculptra or Radiesse in conjunction with a procedure like ulthera. "[The filler]s stimulate improvement and filling of the dimples [while] ulthera tightens tissue.

Dry Brushing and Exfoliation
If injections sound too extreme, Dr. Engleman suggests trying to exfoliate the area. "Exfoliation helps to smooth the appearance [of cellulite] by increasing blood flow to the area and reducing inflammation." One method the doctor suggests is dry brushing.

Ingrown Hairs

More frequent hair removal during the Summer months leads to a lot of painful, red ingrown hairs. Dr. Engelman has some suggestions for those more prone to razor bumps and irritation. "You may want to exfoliate the area to ensure that the hair can come cleanly out. Also, try shaving the way your hair grows. Shaving against hair growth gives you a closer shave but the blunt-tipped end of hairs can grow back into the skin rather than up and out."

If those tips don't help, it may be time to try depilatory creams, laser hair removal, or electrolysis.

If you already have razor burn or ingrown hairs, Dr. Waldorf has a solution. "If you have redness or irritation, rub in an over-the-counter 1 percent hydrocortisone cream," the doctor explains.

Bruises

Some of us bruise like a peach. The black-and-blue marks that are a result of our clumsy behavior are a result of pooled blood under the skin due to trauma that causes blood vessels to burst. Dr. Engelman suggests a few oils that can improve the appearance. "If you're prone to bruising, topical arnica or helichrysum oil can help with the swelling and bruising by aiding the reabsorption of the blood."

These Photos From a "Mexican-Themed" Frat Party Will Make Your Blood Boil

A party scene from the film Project X

When it comes to themed parties, there is a fine line between dressing up and appropriating a certain culture - but one fraternity at Baylor University unquestionably crossed that line, and several others, when they threw a "Mexican-themed" party. Members of the Kappa Sigma frat threw a party where attendees not only dressed in sombreros and ponchos, but dressed as construction workers and maids, and some even showed up wearing brown face paint.

Following this horrifying "Cinco de Drinko" party, students at the Texas school responded by protesting on campus and expressing their outrage on social media at the racist display, seen below.

Dr. Kevin Jackson, the vice president for student life at Baylor University, issued a statement about the party. "The reported behavior is deeply concerning and does not in any way reflect Baylor's institutional values. University officials are presently investigating the incident and gathering additional information . . . We do not tolerate racism of any kind on our campus," he wrote.

The school has followed up explaining that the Kappa Sigma chapter has been suspended "pending the completion of a formal inquiry involving the organization and a culturally insensitive event that took place off-campus." The University's representative explained that the fraternity's national organization supported these actions.

This is not the first time a fraternity has been under fire for promoting culturally insensitive themed parties, and it's something that needs to stop. In 2014, University of California at Davis students dressed as Mexican border agents to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. With so many stories about offensive themed parties, why do students continue to do this?

The 1 Thing You Never Knew About Jackie Kennedy's Shoes, Until Now

All fashionable first ladies have style secrets, but Jackie Kennedy's might be the best kept. In a new memoir, her former assistant, Kathy McKeon, revealed Jackie customized all her shoes down to the very inch: a quarter inch to be exact.

"The bedroom walk-in closet was jam-packed with Madam's everyday clothing, all arranged according to color . . . more intriguing to me was the quarter-inch lift affixed to one heel on each pair of shoes, apparently meant to compensate for one leg being slightly shorter than the other," Katy said. "No one would have ever guessed."

That's true because a quarter inch is basically invisible to the naked eye. This surprising tidbit about the former first lady's footwear peaked our curiosity, so we uncovered past photos of her shoes. We needed a closer look! Scroll on to see the archived snaps.

Cher's Twitter Outrage About the AHCA Is Eccentric . . . but She Has a Point

Cher is many things: a singer, an actress, an activist, and a social media phenomenon. The social media phenomenon bit stems mostly from the fact that she types in caps lock with excessive use of emoji, but sometimes - like today - the legendary entertainer makes waves on Twitter for her political opinions.

After the House GOP managed to (barely) pass a new healthcare bill called the American Health Care Act, many concerns emerged about the "preexisting conditions" that insurance companies could begin charging premiums for should the bill become law, including (but not limited to) asthma, C-section births, and sexual assault. Filled with outrage about the AHCA's passing, Cher took to her favorite social media platform to express her concern for those less fortunate.

In her own manner of communication, Cher expressed frustration that, while she has insurance for her own asthma, the new bill would make it more difficult for others suffering from the same affliction (including the elderly and young kids) to find affordable coverage. She also tweeted her anger that the "survival of the fittest" healthcare bill would affect "battered women" (assault survivors) and suggested that the members of Congress who voted for the bill didn't read it beforehand.

Cher also took the chance to express her severe disapproval for President Donald Trump, even throwing out ideas for a "Trump NO Care" tank top and comparing Trump to the Antichrist character, Damien, from The Omen. It was a wild ride.

After people began misinterpreting (and misreporting) the singer's original tweet about health care and asthma, Cher set the record straight.

She also had precisely zero time for game-show-host-turned-inflammatory-far-right-podcaster Chuck Woolery, one of the many who took Cher's original tweet and turned it into an opportunity to mock her for caring about health care while wealthy.

While Cher's method of expressing her political discontent is certainly eccentric, there's no denying that she has a point: based on the new insurance allowances, premiums will go up for asthmatic patients and assault survivors if the bill passes in the Senate in its current form. If that's not something straight from a horror film, we don't know what is.

13 Reasons Why: Will Selena Gomez Appear in Season 2?

13 Reasons Why was originally planned to be adapted into a feature movie starring Selena Gomez as Hannah, but as production delays came up, Gomez decided she was too old to play the high schooler. Eventually the project moved to Netflix, taking on a miniseries format and completely blowing all expectations out of the water. Now that season two is on the table (but not officially confirmed), we're wondering if there's a possibility that Gomez could appear in new episodes.

While Gomez has publicly spoken about why she chose to be an executive producer rather than a star, she hasn't commented on whether she would consider appearing in future episodes. She has spoken out about the blacklash that the show has been facing due to its graphic portrayal of teen suicide, but until we get official word from Netflix that season two is on the way, I doubt she'll chime in about acting.

Obviously Hannah is now played by Katherine Langford - and who knows if there will even be an opportunity for Hannah to appear in season two - but perhaps Gomez could star in another role. We have a few ideas for how the show could expand beyond the story in Jay Asher's book, including prequel or sequel episodes, and we're even wondering if the series would take on a format like Skins and feature an entirely new cast and storyline. The latter route would make it easy for Gomez to slide in as a new character!

This Bride's Purple Hair and Crystal Tiara Give Us Ultimate Mermaid Vibes

Get ready for major mermaid-bride inspiration. This styled wedding shoot was inspired by photographer Johanna Dye's love for the beach and the model's purple hair. To play up the theme, they included pretty crystal details on the tiara and ring. And in case the purple sunset wasn't enough to emulate mermaid vibes, the couple got into the ocean for some salty kisses. See the awesome photos!

Conservative Think Tank Inadvertently Plugs Solar Energy When It Meant to Praise Coal

The American Enterprise Institute (AEI) made an unexpected push for solar energy in a newly published article intending to argue for more coal production. The think tank, which leans far right on the political spectrum, shared an "inconvenient energy fact" via Twitter . . . except the only inconvenient piece of the story was what the data actually demonstrated.

Just from viewing AEI's tweet, it seems pretty apparent that it is not delivering the message it thinks it is. In fact, AEI makes a pretty good case for investing more in solar as a way to expand the job market. The story, however, attempts to argue that coal production is actually more efficient since it requires less labor.

"To produce the same amount of electric power as just one coal worker would require two natural gas workers and an amazingly-high 79 solar workers," the article argues before making its rather matter-of-fact point (and one that largely departs from President Donald Trump's desire to resuscitate coal mining).

"The goal of America's energy sector isn't to create as many jobs as possible, especially the politically-favored and heavily-subsidized renewable energy jobs," the article states. "Rather, the economic goal is to produce as much electric power as possible at the lowest possible cost, and that means we want the fewest number of energy workers!"

Given that Trump's push to reinvigorate coal fails to align with AEI's defense of coal, the entire story becomes more convoluted. Trump lifted former President Barack Obama's limits on the coal industry as a way to create more jobs. But, as AEI's investigation demonstrates, expanding the coal industry is more or less only beneficial to the employer since it has to hire fewer people to produce the same amount of energy.

Seems like conservatives have a disconnect they desperately need to discuss.
