Victoria Beckham Gets an A For Her Posh Schoolgirl Uniform
Leave it to Victoria Beckham to show everyone how to put a fashion-girl spin on a school uniform. She was spotted in NYC wearing head-to-toe navy, and the outfit was basically a 2017 version of Blair Waldorf's private school attire. Victoria wore a white collared button down with a sash looped around her neck and a navy button cardigan. Instead of a pleated skirt, Victoria softened her look with a navy sheer skirt that revealed a pair of scrunched leather boots.
It should come as no surprise this entire outfit was from Victoria's Fall 2017 collection, her structured bag included. The sophisticated monochromatic ensemble is definitely the poshest take on a school uniform we've seen yet - it's even inspired us to recreate the look ahead with some shopping options.

This Adorable "Frushy" Makeup Brush Is About to Swim Into Your Heart
Beauty is about artistry and glamour, yes, but it should also always be fun. That's why we've really enjoyed the recent trend of funky makeup brushes, like the unicorn horn tools and rose-shaped applicators. However, our favorite of them all so far is the Frushy makeup brush.
Popularized by Instagram makeup artist and influencers, this tool features short synthetic fibers that are perfect for applying foundation, contour makeup, and highlighter. And while reviewers deem the bristles to be of high quality, that's not why we plan on picking up this product. It's the handle! The brush's handle is shaped like a fish (hence the portmanteau name of "Frushy") and is accented with a tail, fins, and scales. You can purchase it in several metallic options - including a fetching rose gold - or in a badass matte black.
The best part of the tool is its price: the Frushy is only $11! For that amount, you can afford to have a whole school of fishy makeup brushes. Keep reading to see all your color choices, then buy your own Frushy here.

What This Officer Did After 1 Mom Confessed to Shoplifting For Her Family Is Going Viral
When Sheena Davenport found herself "struggling like no other," the mom-of-one made a desperate decision for her family: she stole food from Walmart.
It's been a year since this unfortunate incident and Sheena has since been to court for her shoplifting charge. However after finishing paperwork this week, the Alabama mom was stopped before she could leave the courtroom. "I had an officer stop and tell me to wait for her outside. I proceeded outside for her to tell me to follow her," Sheena shared on Facebook. "We ended up at Winn-Dixie grocery store."
This Dad Recounts What Happened When Police Were Called After His Daughter's Public Meltdown
The officer told Sheena to grab and cart because she wanted to take her shopping. Once she had a week's worth of food for her family, officer Katrina paid the $139 bill. "I told her she didn't have to do it she started telling me her struggle and how she made it through," she wrote. "This world may be jacked up y'all but there are still people out there who make a difference and when my time comes, I will pay it forward."

This '90s Trend With Ancient Mayan Roots Is Primed For a Huge Comeback
At the 2017 Met Gala, Hailey Baldwin flashed a cocky smile to reveal two sparkling gems affixed to her teeth. A picture of the moment promptly garnered over 400,000 "likes" and launched a series of conjectures about tooth gems being the next big cosmetic trend. Just a few months before, Katy Perry sported a tiny gold gem in the shape of the Nike logo. As these things go, tooth gems are not new. In fact, they're ancient.
According to National Geographic, inhabitants of ancient Mesoamerica accessorized their teeth with semiprecious gems. A centuries-old skull found in Chiapas, Mexico, even had teeth gems worn in a manner not unlike our own contemporary version.
Centuries later, tooth gems resurfaced with the popularization of grills in the hip-hop scene of the 1980s. Grills maintained their popularity well into the new millennium thanks in part to the 2005 Nelly song "Grillz."
Recently, many celebrities and fashion influencers have gotten their gems implanted by Tooth Kandy, a Los Angeles-based shop. According to the Tooth Kandy website, gems typically last anywhere from six months to two years depending on the type of gem used. Gems are attached to the enamel using a semipermanent adhesive. Dentists have, however, expressed their concerns for how gems might affect the enamel.
Ahead, see how people are wearing the trend in its latest iteration.
An Exclusive First Look at Tarte Clay Play Palette Featuring 12 New Contour Shades
Match point: Tarte. You can thank the brand - known for creating natural beauty products before "organic" was a buzz word - for making your dream Summer palette. We're excited to exclusively break the details about Tarte's Clay Play Face Shaping Palette (launching on tartecosmetics.com on May 21 for $46).
This is truly the ideal palette for you - and everyone in your Summer share house. Clay Play contains 12 new shades, which can be used universally on brows, eyelids, cheeks, nose, and for the overall complexion. There are nine neutral-to-smoky matte eye shadows that can be intensified or sheered out. Dunes and Smoke will likely work on most brows, while Journey can be the base of your trendy pink eye look, and Solstice is one of those dream highlighters. Three big tins of contour powders cater to a bevy of skin tones. Expect the same creamy, silky powder textures and long-wear capabilities the brand is known for.
What makes this palette extra special is that the powders are all infused with Amazonian clay. The ingredient helps to remove surface oil while hydrating cells (basically, it's balancing!), so it actually makes your skin better while you wear it.
Plus, how chic is that tortoiseshell packaging? Expect more Amazonian-clay-infused launches coming this Summer.

This Luxurious Elopement in Cancun Will Make You Forget All About a Guest List
As wonderful as it is to have friends and family witness your union, it's also incredibly romantic to keep the wedding between you and your spouse-to-be. Miles Heizer Just Reunited With His Parenthood Family and Our Hearts Are Full
Lauren Graham's onscreen kids have grown up so much. During Netflix's Gilmore Girls FYC event in Beverly Hills on Thursday, the former Parenthood actress (who played Sarah Braverman on the show) had a little reunion with her costars, Miles Heizer (Drew Holt) and Mae Whitman (Amber Holt). Aside from posing for a sweet family photo on the red carpet, Graham also joined her onscreen daughter on stage as they chatted about Gilmore Girls's recent revival and Whitman's surprise guest appearance. Of course, the ladies aren't the only ones to appear on a popular Netflix series. Heizer has gained a huge following for his role on the book-to-TV adaptation of 13 Reasons Why. Who else would love to see their series do a crossover?
Bella Hadid's Hip Cleavage Is the New Thighbrow
Oh, the fashion trends the world's sexiest models and stars dream up. From the Kardashian family's "lampshading" to the "thighbrow" they create by striking a pose in their swimsuits, there is no end to the little tweaks they make to their clothes, all to turn heads. Bella Hadid's got a new trick she's been employing, slipping into high-leg bodysuits and tugging her track pants down below her hip bone to create a makeshift cutout.
The sliver of skin is what we're calling "hip cleavage," and it seems Kylie Jenner is on board, too. She was spotted rocking the look with a bikini underwear set and sweats months ago. Of course, it's not difficult to create a leisure outfit like this one if you're into the style. Just scroll to get inspired, then shop baggy trousers and tight-fitting bodysuits to coordinate on your own.

Dior's 2018 Cruise Show Was a Wild, Wild Party
For her Resort debut at Dior, Maria Grazia Chiuri invited guests to a two-day party in Pacific Palisades, CA, which began with an outdoor dinner at sundown. Stars like Kiernan Shipka and Freida Pinto joined influencers Helena Bordon and Olivia Palermo at the surf club, where there were signature drinks to enjoy and a personalized menu board to order from. Showgoers flaunted their favorite Dior bags and more casual Dior ensembles.
On day two, guests arrived at the Upper Las Virgenes Canyon Open Space Preserve in Calabasas, CA for the debut Dior Sauvage show. The French word "sauvage" means wild. A-listers like Miranda Kerr, Demi Moore, Brie Larson, and Rihanna were treated with views of rolling hills and expansive fields. Nature's natural beauty was what inspired Maria Grazia Chiuri's cruise collection, telling Women's Wear Daily, "At the end, what I would like to say is that women ought to feel in contact with nature, ought to feel in contact with themselves and should be able to dress themselves in a way that's really playful."
Elements from Chiuri's inspired location was present in the clothes that came down the runway. Models wore bandannas and wide-straw brim hats, fringed sweaters and skirts, rugged hiking boots, and touches of fur and feathers gave the pieces a wild, wild west feel. The show ended with the sunset, which casted that soft, natural lighting no stage lights could ever mimic. Read on to see snaps from Dior's 2018 cruise show.

This Student's Essay on 12 Years a Slave Is Both Candid and Heartwrenching
Although it's probably not the best idea to cram on a college paper, one college student is going viral because of it. On April 18, Twitter user Stephy (@stephypie15) tweeted a photo of her college essay, writing "Possibly the best sentence I've ever written." In the sentence, Stephy calls out Edwin Epps, a plantation owner who viciously mistreated slaves in Solomon Northup's memoir, 12 Years a Slave.
"Yes, Edwin Epps is getting his own paragraph because that's how much of a piece of sh*t he was," she wrote. Her brother, Eric, followed up with a photo of his sister's graded paper, and let's just say it made her professor sound like the coolest professor ever. Instead of getting upset over Stephy's use of profanity, the professor simply wrote "LOL true" next to her candid sentence.
my little sister wrote a paper over 12 Years A Slave, got a 95, and didn't get clocked for this paragraph.
I am dead 😂 http://pic.twitter.com/AxHyOonQpR- eric sparkles ✨ (@eric_espana) May 4, 2017
"I won't knock you for language here [because] the Epps warrant it, but just as general advice you should try to avoid it in academic papers for other professors," the professor added as a side note on the page. After calling Epps and his wife "sh*t human beings" and "scum of the Earth," her professor simply responded with "Fair enough."
Twitter users could not handle how chill Stephy's professor was about it all. According to Eric, Stephy received a 95 on her last-minute paper and Stephy went on to call her professor "the best." Keep reading to see some of the best reactions to the epic essay ahead.

Women With Clear Skin Always Eat These 6 Foods - and Avoid These 2
We've gone to great lengths to discuss how what you eat effects your skin. Be it for a supple, glowing, or overall healthy looking palette, you can be sure we've catered our grocery lists to it. And yet, every so often, an acne outbreak still rears its head. Sure, you could reach for one of many superior spot treatments, but the frustration of having to face an unsightly pimple in the first place is . . . well, frustrating.
If you're like us (and we're betting you are), you've studied every acne face map on the web to no avail. Worry not. We tapped Dr. Helen Knaggs, PhD., vice president of research and development at Nu Skin, for answers. "Skin is your body's largest organ. Just like any of your other organs, its health is dependent on what is taken into the body to provide it with the needed nutrients to function properly."
With 20 years of experience in skin care (including a background in skin and hair biology, biochemisty, and pharmacology), we'd all be smart to heed her clear skin advice.
This Dreamy Makeup Brush Looks Just Like the "Enchanted Rose" From Beauty and the Beast
Update: It's official! The gorgeous rose brushes are going on pre-sale on May 12 at 10 a.m. Central time. The bundle of four brushes and a floral-print travel pouch costs $55, which is a total steal. Dare we say it makes an excellent Mother's Day gift?
Original story: The live-action Beauty and the Beast movie comes out on March 17, and Disney aficionados are whipping themselves up into a frenzy by shopping all kinds of products inspired by the film. This includes Gap's new kids' collection, an adorable tea set, and now, Storybook Cosmetics is giving us the gift of makeup brushes that look just like the enchanted rose. (Are you squealing as much as we are?)
The brand announced its "What's in a Name" collection late last Winter. It was inspired by Shakespeare's classic play, Romeo & Juliet, but we still think they would make a perfect addition to any Belle cosplay. Storybook Cosmetics shared that the launch would be ready by early Spring, and after weeks of suspense, their team has given us another sneak peek on Instagram.
"One more round of changes and our 'What's in a Name' original rose brushes will be complete!" the caption announced. Though the tools seem positively perfect (the handles look like real stems!) Storybook Cosmetics explained that the team plans to lengthen and darken the bristles. This way, they'll look even more like the velvety petals of a red rose, and those faux "leaves" on the brush's ferrule won't accidentally scratch the face. The team also shared that they'd be changing the bristles to a dark red ombré, making the brush head look more velvety (like petals!).
And yes, though this brush looks like it was snatched from beneath a bell jar that was hidden in the west wing, it's actually part of a bouquet of brushes. We can't wait to see the final set. (A note to anyone looking for a gift for their significant other or best friend: flowers make a lovely present all year round, hint hint!) Keep reading for more shots of the collection.

Why This Muslim Passenger Wants to "Commend" JetBlue
We've updated this story with comments from Ghena A.
Airline horror stories are all too common - including those that involve racist or xenophobic passengers. That's why one Muslim passenger is commending JetBlue for how one of its crews handled an Islamophobic remark on a recent flight.
Twenty-seven year old Ghena A. shared in a Facebook post on May 10 a recent experience she had on a JetBlue flight flying from Orlando, FL, to LA. She was in Orlando to speak on a "Flying While Muslim" panel, dedicated to teaching JetBlue crew members how to handle discriminatory situations toward Muslim customers. When she boarded the plane on May 9, her seat was in the middle of two passengers who were traveling together. She claims that the person to the right of her was on the phone, telling someone they were separated from the other passenger due to "someone who was 'hint: Twin Towers.'"
Once the plane took off, Ghena approached a crew member and asked for a seat change. At first, the flight attendant told her the flight was full and they couldn't. But, Ghena says the attendant noticed she was upset and asked her, "Is something wrong?" Ghena was first apprehensive about telling her story. "I initially hesitated to say anything for fear of an escalated situation that would turn against me and possibly end with me getting kicked off the flight, as seems to be a recurring pattern with Muslim passengers on airlines," she said to POPSUGAR.
But, she did end up telling her story and the flight attendant immediately changed her seat. Another crew member came by and gave her a free blanket, travel pillow, and box of food, and continuously asked her throughout the flight how she was doing. You can read Ghena's full post ahead.
Flying While Muslim. (5/9/2017)
I was invited to speak on a panel organized by JetBlue for their Crewmembers titled "...
Posted by Ghena Alh on Wednesday, May 10, 2017
Ghena wrote that when the plane landed, a "security member" listened to her story and another one was telling the lady who made the comment that it wasn't "tolerated by the JetBlue family." The post, which has more than 400 reactions and 100 shares at the time of writing, ended with Ghena thanking JetBlue for its handling of the situation and for "turning an unpleasant experience into a very comfortable one."
For Ghena, she's glad that JetBlue listened to her experience and reacted accordingly. "I was pleasantly surprised by the reaction of the crew member, Heather, who reacted promptly and took the situation very seriously," Ghena said. "She quickly informed the team what was going on, and they all made sure I was okay and felt as comfortable as possible." Ghena also told her story to one of the organizers of the "Flying While Muslim" panel, who "apologized for the situation, and sent my story all the way up to the CEO. The JetBlue team went above and beyond anything I ever expected."
Ghena hopes that in sharing her story, people remember "positive experiences too and appreciate the people and organizations that are doing good." She believes JetBlue has set an example and wants "everyone to look out for one another, speak up when something is wrong, and treat everyone with the respect every human deserves."
We've reached out to JetBlue for comment and will update if we hear back.

Why Obamacare Isn't Going Away Just Yet
Donald Trump and Paul Ryan celebrated after the House passed the AHCA, but that win is only the first step.
"We're going to get this passed through the Senate. I feel so confident," President Donald Trump proclaimed from the White House on May 4, after the House of Representatives passed the American Health Care Act (AHCA). Yet that same day, senators from the president's own party announced that, instead, they'd start from scratch on their healthcare legislation - and take their time doing it.
"We're writing a Senate bill and not passing the House bill," explained Republican Senator Lamar Alexander. "Any bill that has been posted less than 24 hours - going to be debated three or four hours, not scored - needs to be viewed with suspicion," tweeted GOP veteran Senator Lindsey Graham, noting that the lower chamber of congress didn't even bother to wait for an assessment on cost and impact from the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) before voting yes. And when asked if there was a chance the Senate would pass the House's bill, fellow Republican Senator Bob Corker answered: "No. Zero." Not exactly a warm welcome. If this all seems confusing to those of us outside the beltway, we understand - and we have some answers about what it means and what the future of healthcare really looks like.
What Needs to Happen for the AHCA to Become Law
The AHCA has scored public approval ratings around 17 percent. Compare that to a recent 55 percent approval rating for Obamacare, which is now more popular with American voters than President Trump himself. Putting aside the stark unpopularity of the House bill, it may be the inner workings of Congress that undermine it. Here's everything that needs to happen before President Trump truly gets his "win" on Obamacare repeal and replace:
- The Senate's working group on healthcare will begin drafting a Senate version of healthcare reform, which they hope will receive support from at least 50 of the 52 Republicans in the Senate.
- In the meantime, the CBO will put out a rating on the AHCA bill the House passed. This is likely to predict that millions of Americans will lose healthcare coverage and cause public outcry. Lawmakers will have to address frustrated constituents at town hall meetings, and any backlash could impact the drafting of the Senate's bill. The working committee has already faced public outcry, since Senate Leader Mitch McConnell handpicked 13 men, and no women, to lead the drafting.
- As the Senate brings it's healthcare bill to the floor, Democratic senators may raise issues about what's in it. Because Republicans are attempting to pass healthcare reform through a procedure called "budget reconciliation," every portion of the bill must directly affect the federal budget. If they do not, then those parts of the bill can be thrown out.
- Once the Senate has a final bill that pleases at least 50 senators, they will vote. There are 52 Republicans in the Senate, so they can only afford to lose two votes. If they only get 50 senators, Vice President Mike Pence will be called on to break the tie.
- After the Senate votes, the bill will have to be reconciled with the House's AHCA, meaning the differences will have to be worked out. That can happen in conference committees or by sending different versions back and forth for amendments.
- Once a compromise bill is finalized, each chamber will have to vote again on the final bill, before it heads to President Donald Trump to sign.
The final vote might not come until after the 2018 midterm elections.
Despite the rigorous process, we shouldn't underestimate Republican lawmakers' ability to get something through, says Michele L. Swers, a professor at Georgetown University's Department of Government. "They have strong incentives to do it because the people who voted for them have been promised this since 2010." But questions remain about when an Obamacare replacement will actually happen and how extreme the final repeal will be. As of now, Senate leaders have suggested they will have a Senate bill by August. And Swers says there's reason to believe the final vote by both houses might not come until after the 2018 midterm elections. That means we'll be living under Obamacare for at least another year.
Who Could Get in the Way of the AHCA Becoming Law
Senator Susan Collins is among moderate Republicans who could undermine the current AHCA.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has assembled a working group of 13 men to put together the Senate's version, and the group includes some staunch conservatives, like Senator Ted Cruz. Despite that, most experts agree the AHCA will only get more moderate as it works through the Senate. That's because the rules and makeup of the Senate differ from the House, which can generally push things through easily with a simple majority. Here's a breakdown of forces that could get in the way of the AHCA's more conservative elements becoming reality:
- President Trump:
As of now, the White House is backing off senators to let them do their jobs without a strict timeline. But as the Summer drags on, Trump could get itchy for another perceived win. "I think he will try to stay out of it, but then the process will proceed too slowly for him and he will be forced to tweet," explains Professor Swers. "The Senate moves very, very slowly, and he doesn't have a lot of patience or knowledge of the legislative process." If Trump pushes the Senate to act too quickly, like he did the first time with the failed push in the House, it could disrupt the process. In addition, Trump's off-message remarks on healthcare or other distractions (like the recent firing of FBI Director James Comey) could slow momentum.
- The Senate Parliamentarian:
Elizabeth MacDonough, the current parliamentarian, WAS appointed by McConnell in 2012. Think of her as the Senate's referee. The parliamentarian serves as an impartial adviser who determines what can and cannot be done under the Senate's reconciliation process, a process Republicans want to use to repeal Obamacare so they don't need to get 60 votes required to avoid a filibuster and thus support from Democrats. In order to qualify, a bill must only include a provision that directly affects the federal budget. If objections are raised by Democratic senators about specific provisions of the bill, the parliamentarian can rule on whether those provisions do in fact apply to the federal budget. If the parliamentarian rules that they are not relevant to the budget, then the provisions must be taken out. Or, the bill will need to go through the regular process and achieve 60 votes in the Senate, which is harder because Republicans only have 52 senators.
It appears that some key insurance regulations included in the AHCA may not meet the parliamentarian standard, which could undermine the feasibility of the entire bill. Of course, Republican senators could also change the rules. Swers points out that Trump is already agitating for the Senate to get rid of the legislative filibuster altogether, which means all Senate business could be passed with a simple majority and Republicans wouldn't have to worry about budget reconciliation rules. They also could choose to ignore rulings of the parliamentarian and decide that things are related to the budget even if the parliamentarian has ruled that they're not. "Both of those things would be setting new historical precedents," Swers cautions.
- Moderate Senators:
When assembling his working group for the Senate's healthcare bill, McConnell chose not to include any women on the panel. Swers points out that there are simply few female Republican senators to begin with (four to be exact). Even so, Republican Senator Susan Collins does have experience on healthcare and was nonetheless excluded from the working group. One explanation? Collins tends to be more moderate and favors funding Planned Parenthood, for example.
"When crafting the working group on healthcare, McConnell appeared more attentive to the views of the party leadership and the far right wing of the party and less attentive to trying to craft a bill that could get the support of more moderate members," explains Laurel Harbridge-Yong, a professor of political science at Northwestern University. This move could backfire. Yong says excluding moderate members may leave them feeling free to oppose the legislation, since they weren't involved in crafting it.
If you live in Maine, Alaska, Louisiana, Nevada, or Arizona, your senators may have the power to stop it.
Susan Collins isn't the only moderate senator who could vote no, or at least threaten a no vote as leverage to impact the bill. If you live in Maine (Collins's state), Alaska, Louisiana, Nevada, or Arizona, your senators may have the power to stop the AHCA as we know it. Remember: Republicans have have 52 seats in the senate and can only lose two Republican votes. Five senators from these states may have reason to defect. Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, and Bill Cassidy of Louisiana are all considered maybe votes, due to their more moderate stances and history of not being swayed by national party unity over concern for local constituents. Then there are Dean Heller of Nevada and Jeff Flake of Arizona, who are up for reelection in 2018 in very competitive races. If any of these senators represent you, giving them a call to voice your opinion on the AHCA may have a real impact.
On top of this, Yong says the exclusion of women senators, who are not exclusively moderate, could have negative consequences. "Excluding women may hurt them in building a compromise as research and Senator's own statements indicate that women have often been more likely to reach compromises and consensus on a range of issues." In addition, Yong believes that "excluding women has a potentially harmful messaging effect, since it suggests the GOP does not care what this bill does for women's health." It's not a good look to have 13 men shape a bill that potentially deems sexual assault and C-sections preexisting conditions and drops maternity coverage from the list of mandatory coverage.
How the AHCA Could Change Beyond Recognition
Professor Yong says bringing the more moderate and conservatives sides of the GOP together is perhaps the major obstacle facing the AHCA. She notes that the the far right wants a full repeal - or at least major changes to even popular provisions. Moderates, on the other hand, may want to keep more coverage for preexisting conditions and reduce cuts to Medicaid found in the House bill. In fact, about a dozen Republicans in the Senate, including Rob Portman who is on the working group, have said they're concerned about cutting $800 million from Medicaid, as proposed in the House bill.
If the moderating forces in the Senate are successful in changing the AHCA to make it less extreme, it could find trouble making it through the House again. "Both the House and the Senate will need to pass the same bill," Yong explains. The House's conservative Freedom Caucus will ultimately have to agree to any changes that helped get the bill through the Senate. Speaker Paul Ryan and his members will likely be left with a choice: give up on a healthcare bill or pass something less pleasing to the far right.

Chris Pratt Makes Ellen Shed Actual Tears During a Hilarious Game of Speak Out
Just when you thought Chris Pratt reached his funny quota for the year and probably couldn't do anything else to make you actually double over with laughter, he goes and stops by The Ellen DeGeneres Show to prove everyone wrong. The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 star, who recently got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, played a hilarious game of Speak Out with the host on Friday, where he attempted to say random phrases while wearing a mouth piece. While the entire thing is funny, Ellen started to actually cry from laughing when Chris tried to say "I'm gonna bump you." Honestly, just watch the whole thing above to have your entire day made.

Lea DeLaria Will Make You Petrified of Orange Is the New Black Season 5
It's been a long, cold Fall, Winter, and Spring without new episodes of Orange Is the New Black. Now, just as the sun is about to come out, we're heading indoors to binge on season five. If you thought things couldn't get worse after season four, you're wrong. The new episodes pick up right as Daya aims the gun at CO Humphrey and take place over to course of three days at Litchfield. Ahead of the premiere, I chatted with star Lea DeLaria about what's next for Big Boo and what to expect from the rest of the ladies.
POPSUGAR: Let's start with the question everyone's asking. Last season ended on such a note of frustration and rage with that cliffhanger - how is this season going to begin?
Lea DeLaria: Let's put it this way: the rage continues. I think you can tell that by the trailer . . . but let's just say, yeah, yeah, this season, the rage continues.
PS: One of the things that we love about the show is how you go to such dark places, but there are so many moments of levity. Are we going to see that in the new season?
LD: Oh, hell yes. This is a classic American dramedy. And what makes it that are those moments of real rage, darkness, drama and the real moments of laughter that you have. Since season one, that's been the signature of what our writing team does, and that will continue. Everybody thought I was going to shiv somebody with that screwdriver. In nobody's wildest dreams did they think, "Big Boo's going to MacGyver that into a dildo and pleasure herself into orgasm on screen." And that was f*cking hilarious. Some of the funniest moments come out of some the darkest places and vice versa. That's just a real indication of terrific writing ability, skills. Our people have such mad skills.
PS: So much of Big Boo's storyline has revolved around other people like Pennsatucky. Are we going to see more forward movement in Big Boo's life?
LD: I don't think Big Boo fans are going to be disappointed.
PS: I actually spoke to Kate Mulgrew last week, and she was saying that we're going to be "gobsmacked" by the story. How do you see audiences reacting to the new episodes?
LD: First of all, as a perfect gentleman, I would never disagree with a lady in public. As a budding actor - even though I'm 58 years old, I still feel like I'm a budding actor - I would never argue with Kate Mulgrew on anything. She's a goddamn God, OK? And I do happen to be in total agreement with her. You will be gobsmacked by it, and audiences are going to lose their minds. Season four was on every critic's list as the number one thing on television last year. . . . So when I say season five is better than season four, people are going to go, "What?" It is. I cannot figure out how we do it or how our writers are able to keep this show so fresh, so interesting, so weird, so unique, so amazing, informative, and life-changing season after season after season. Amazing.
PS: How was it for you to shoot a season that only takes place over three days? Was the vibe different on the set?
LD: What becomes difficult about it being a three-day period is just making sure that the time frame works. This is actor-y stuff, but . . . we spent a lot of time going, "What time is it? Where was I just? OK. Got it." It was kind of rough when you're shooting out of season. Costume-wise, it can be incredibly uncomfortable for an actor. And it's been my lot in life that whenever I am outdoors in any kind of seasonal shot, I am never dressed appropriately to the weather.
PS: It's just freezing where you guys are?
LD: Yeah. I had to film an outdoor scene and it was Winter in New York, but not in the show. So Boo was in her white beater and her uniform.
PS: I'll look out for goosebumps.
LD: It was bloody f*cking cold.
PS: Are there any details that you put into Big Boo, either over the course of the show or this season in particular, that you're hoping audiences pick up on?
LD: Well, I hope they see that she's butch.
PS: I don't know if they got that impression, actually.
LD: The only way that I put any detail [in] is with my staunch refusal to do anything that I don't think is authentic. However, I've never had to put my foot down in that arena at all at Orange Is the New Black. They've never asked me to do anything that I feel a butch dyke wouldn't do or Big Boo wouldn't do. I have had that issue on other sets where I've had to go, "You know, if I was a black person saying, 'This is something a black person wouldn't do,' you would listen to me. I need you to realize that a butch dyke is different than any other kind of lesbian and there are things that we do very authentically." I've never had to do that with Orange. They've always been right on it. I just hope that the audience sees that.
This Silky Mineral Sunscreen Doesn't Leave a White Cast - and I'll Never Turn Back
Not to brag or anything, but I have pretty good skin. I frequently get complimented on my complexion, which I appreciate, especially because I work hard at keeping my skin healthy. Whenever I get questions from friends regarding what they can do for better skin, I always mention two cardinal beauty rules that I never break: don't go to bed with makeup on, and always wear sunscreen.
My obsession with sunscreen is almost comical, and many of my friends look at me like a psychopath while I'm screaming at them for tanning. Despite my dogmatic sunscreen habits, I'm also incredibly picky about sunscreen formulas. Luckily, the Drunk Elephant Umbra Tinte Physical Daily Defense Sun Screen SPF 30 ($36) passed my test, and I have a new favorite item to add to my skin-care routine.
The tinted product is a broad-spectrum SPF with mineral sunscreen, meaning that its ingredients physically block your skin from being hit by the sun's rays. This is different from chemical sunscreens, which use active ingredients that absorb UV rays. This creates a chemical reaction that changes into heat, releasing it from the skin.
Many people try to avoid chemical sunscreens because they are potentially irritating to the skin, clog pores, and cause skin discoloration. However, chemical sunscreens also are typically thinner and more comfortable to wear than their physical counterparts.
The problem with physical (sometimes called mineral) sunscreens is that the main ingredient, zinc oxide, tends to leave a white cast on the skin and have a chalky formula. Somehow, Drunk Elephant has found a way around this pitfall with Umbra Tinte. The physical tinted sunscreen contains 20 percent zinc oxide but manages to have a soft texture and matte finish and is a great base for the rest of your makeup. It's not the least bit chalky and leaves behind no white residue or strong sunscreen smell.
The product comes out of the tube a beige hue but can be blended into the skin easily and is flattering on light-medium to deep skin tones. We tested the formula on both medium-light skin and deep skin, and the sunscreen blended in flawlessly on both. The lotion gives the wearer a glowy, filtered appearance with a light amount of coverage. If you have a very light complexion, Drunk Elephant recommends its nontinted version, Umbra Sheer Physical Daily Defense SPF 30 ($34).
In addition to sun protection, the cream is also packed with antioxidants to benefit and moisturize your skin. It contains sunflower shoot extract, raspberry seed oil, and marula oil, which help moisturize and prevent premature aging.
This is a great choice for those of us who prefer more natural beauty products, and I can't wait to replace the white-tinted sunblock in my medicine cabinet with this one.
See Why This Bottle Holder Is the Best Baby Product You Wish You Had
Bottle-feeding a baby can take several hours a day, and busy parents could use an extra hand. The Beebo, a brilliant over-the-shoulder swiveling bottle holder, gives it to them.
Although the product - which was developed by a St. Louis dad who often felt one hand short when the phone rang or when someone knocked on the door - first went on the market late last year, it's begun to bubble up in popularity, thanks to a YouTube video that shows just how seamlessly parents can multitask with the Beebo.
With the $40 BPA-free Beebo at work, parents can finally enjoy family dinner or, as the video shows, operate the TV remote. Sure, we weren't too impressed to see the product marketed as a way to more effectively watch television, but we do believe the Beebo could greatly help parents of twins, those with a toddler who requires attention, or those who want to bond with their baby.
"The Beebo frees up a hand to caress, burp, or even read a book to your baby while you're feeding," the company noted on its website. "It conveniently holds the bottle in a consistent, stable feeding position so that your baby is more likely to finish the entire bottle."

Amy Schumer on Her Dad Meeting Goldie Hawn: "It Was the Best Moment of His Life"
Amy Schumer's dad melted everyone's hearts earlier this month when he finally met his lifelong crush, Goldie Hawn, in person. After the two chatted over FaceTime while Amy and Goldie were filming their new movie, Snatched, they finally were able to get together. And Amy opened up about the beautiful moment when she and Goldie stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Thursday. "It was probably the best moment of his life," the comedian said. "I will never be able to thank [Goldie] enough for how sweet she was with him." In the clip of their meeting, Amy's dad, Gordon, tears up as the legendary actress walks in to the room. "It was a highlight for me," Goldie added. There really is good in this world.
Get Ready, Because Alien: Covenant Is a Gory Scream-Fest
Nearly 40 years after Alien first hit theaters in 1979, it seems we haven't yet reached the pinnacle of extraterrestrial terror in space. This month marks the release of Alien: Covenant, the latest in the prequel series that has effectively resurrected Ridley Scott's iconic franchise. There's a lot to prepare for if you're planning on seeing this movie - specifically another film studio attempt at LGBTQ inclusion and a very strange scene with Michael Fassbender - but one question that may be on your mind is probably the simplest of them all: Is it scary?
It's not a dumb question. Prometheus, though quite the thriller, clearly steered away from the horror genre in favor of a more action-packed (and slightly philosophical) approach. Having seen the Covenant, we're here to let you know that the franchise is going right back to Alien's terrifying roots. If the bloody trailer wasn't enough to give you an idea of how scary (and gory) things are going to get, we'll paint a more vivid picture for you. Spoilers follow!
Let's first take a second to talk about the blood levels. This is one of the franchise's more gory entries. Things get a pretty quick start when two of the crew members are accidentally infected with spores, just after the crew has touched down on the planet. We then meet a different kind of creature called a Neomorph. They're kind of like the iconic Xenomorph monsters, but they're paler and not quite as limb-y. They rip out of the backs of the infected crew members, and all hell breaks loose. One kills two of the crew members on the little explorer ship, and also causes it to explode, leaving everyone stranded. The other kills an additional three or four crew members with sheer violence alone.
From there, the deaths only get more grisly. One Neomorph literally goes straight for the jugular and rips of its victim's head. Another crew member gets a classic attack from a Facehugger, and gets the whole "alien bursting out of his chest" treatment. Another gets completely ripped apart. Someone else gets impaled through the throat by one of the monster's second mouths. There are probably a few deaths that I'm missing off the top of my head, but I mean, you get the picture.
In terms of actual scariness, the film is off the charts here too. The sequences where the monsters wreak havoc make your heart pound, and the creepiness of Michael Fassbender's villainous android David is enough to make your skin crawl. There are also a few moments of tension, where you know an alien is just about to jump out and you can't help but grip your arm rest. Overall, this film's going to have you at the edge of your seat, especially if you're a wimp. And even if you think you tolerate horror pretty well, this one still might get to you.
The 1 Thing Men Find Irresistible in a Woman
Looks can hook a guy, but what is it that keeps them wanting more? After discussing the topic with some guy friends, my boyfriend, and even my parents, I noticed a particular trait that was consistent across conversations. It was agreed that the sexiest trait in a woman by far is independence.
Independent women are assertive, are self-assured, and play by their own rules. They don't need anybody else but themselves to validate who they are. So when it comes to relationships, they're low maintenance as partners because they're busy running their own lives. They know when and what to give without being overbearing and have enough confidence to thrive on their own.
Here's what some of them said:
"It shows that they don't need me." - Jacob (27)
"Independence is attractive because it means they have their own thoughts and interests outside of me - creates a much deeper and interesting person." - Sam (26)
"To be independent, you have to have a lot of other good qualities. Like you've gotta have some sort of level-headedness, intellect, and confidence." - Marcus (27)
"Because you're creating your own path for others to follow." - Sunny (49)
On the opposite end of the spectrum, the biggest turnoff they said was neediness. It's a deal-breaker if she doesn't know how to be without her boyfriend. This can be in the form of expecting constant communication, not wanting to hang out with her own friends, or showing irritation when her significant other is unavailable. If this sounds like you, cut it out. You have to know how to be secure with yourself and in return, you won't need a man to make you feel complete. Whoever recognizes this about you will appreciate you as a partner even more.
But there's a difference between being self-reliant and playing hard to get. It's only a matter of time before that becomes old, and the chase is no longer fun or going anywhere. Independence is a characteristic, not a game. Men appreciate this quality in a potential partner because it proves you'll be a good teammate who can pull their own weight.
