BBG: The Supereffective Fitness Program You Need to Know
We're totally crazy about Australian trainer and Instagram star Kayla Itsines and her program, BBG. But what exactly is BBG? Let's take a step back and look at the program that made Kayla such a star and her clients so obsessed.
What Is It?
BBG stands for "Bikini Body Guide," and it's been transforming women's bodies with dramatic weight-loss results since 2012. The guides include a fitness and nutrition plan spanning 12 weeks and can be done at home or at a gym.
The program is built around intense 28-minute workouts three days a week. That's it. They're broken down into arms and abs, legs, and full body, so each day of the week, you'll focus on a different muscle group. Expect to see moves like push-ups and planks, burpees, jumping jacks, mountain climbers, and weighted squats. The combination of weight training and cardio makes the program incredibly effective, while the meal plan helps women make more educated dietary choices to better fuel their bodies.
How Does It Work?
During a workout, you'll have two circuits, each with four moves, for which you'll do a certain number of reps. For example, circuit one might look like: 15 burpees, 15 push-ups, 20 jumping jacks, and 20 lunges on each leg. You repeat circuit one as many times as you can within seven minutes at your own pace. You'll take a one-minute break and do the same thing with circuit two, which will be a new set of four exercise moves. After completing circuit two, you start over and do both again. The result? An insanely challenging workout completed in less than 30 minutes.
As far as nutrition goes, Kayla doesn't really eliminate foods. Instead, she focuses on healthier choices and provides BBG members with healthy, delicious recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, desserts, and snacks. On her app, Kayla serves up weekly grocery shopping lists that provide the ingredients for that particular week's recipes, leaving zero guesswork.
What Makes It Different?
The simplicity and brevity of the workouts combined with their ability to be modified have made this program exceptionally attractive to many a newcomer. In fact, Kayla loves the idea that she is often a woman's introduction to fitness. She told POPSUGAR, "I want to be someone's first entry [to exercise], and I think it's a good way to enter, because you're entering into a community that focuses on how you feel rather than focusing on how you look."
Everyone's story is completely different when they come to BBG, but devotees find a way to make the program work for them, whether they're fighting ovarian cancer or thyroid cancer, beating obesity and losing 100-plus pounds, overcoming an eating disorder and building strength, or just trying to get a bigger booty.
We asked Kayla what she thinks makes BBG so special. "Firstly it's for women, which women love," she said. "And then there's the fact it's 28 minutes. . . . It's so quick and easy but also very challenging and pushes you." She also noted how it's a superempowering program that allows a woman to do everything on her own and feel accomplished as an individual.
While the program itself is appealing, what probably trumps it all is the BBG community. There's an element in this program that isn't really found in many other fitness programs, and it has created somewhat of a sisterhood. "It's really easy to lose motivation and lose inspiration," Kayla told POPSUGAR. "But when you have a community like the BBG community, it's actually very hard to lose motivation, because they're constantly encouraging you and posting photos. It's like a family."
Interesting in being part of it? You can download the BBG PDFs for yourself. Or consider Kayla's app, Sweat With Kayla, which offers the same workout program but more streamlined and customized with a LISS tracker and guided recovery. You'll also get on-the-go grocery lists, recipes, and more.
I'm a Woman in Tech, and This Is What I Want in a Company
The following story, "I'm a Woman in Tech, and This Is What I Want in a Company" by Leigha Mitchell, was originally posted on Medium.
As a female developer these are some things I want in a company before I decide to join, and once I'm a part of the team.
I want to see other women
The first thing most people do before interviewing or even applying for a job is look at the company careers page. If it's plastered with pictures of white guys in flannel with beards, that's a red flag. If the exec team is all white men who look like they could be my father that's another one. When you're a small team and those are the cards you're dealt, it's harder to get around that. But you can always put a statement on this page explaining the fact you want to diversify your team and why. Another trick I've seen is having a clearly female silhouette saying "This could be you!".
Once I've made it past the careers page, I want to see them in person. It's always important to have women in the interview process, but especially when the candidate is also a woman. This makes me feel more comfortable with asking certain questions, and offers an opportunity to ask things only another woman in tech could answer. Even if there aren't currently women on the team I'd be joining (red flag) bring someone from another team in for a culture interview.
I don't give a sh*t about your "amazing culture"
Everyone has great culture and you're all best friends, I get it. This is so common in startup land that it's meaningless. I've worked at these places, and I promise you what is an amazing culture for one person can be horrible for another. I want you to prove it. I want to meet members from every team, I want to chat with them and get to know what they're like. It's important for me to know that these are people I'm going to work well and grow with, and that they want to do those things with me.
"Many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of view." - Obi Wan Kenobi
I don't care that you have a ping-pong table, or a keg, or free snacks. I care that the CEO leaves on time to pick up her kids during the week, that the holidays are for spending time with your family, and that when the guy in marketing got engaged to his boyfriend everyone went out for lunch to celebrate. Those are the things I want to see, and the team I want to be a part of.
Tell me how you're going to help me grow
The moment I get stagnant, I get bored and I move on. That is a huge factor in why I became a developer in the first place. There's always something new to learn, or practice, or build. This means growth and projection are extremely important to me and I've learned the hard way to make sure that is clear from the beginning.
I, like a lot of other women, am very passive when it comes to asking for raises or promotions. Having an outline of expectations for each level of developer helps with this. Now I have a guideline and I know exactly what I need to do to meet those expectations. It also helps reduce the opportunity for discrimination. Everyone knows what is expected for each level, and for each salary. You either meet the requirements, or you keep working at things until you do.
I should forget that I'm a minority, but be supported when I remember
It should never be painfully obvious that I'm the only woman in the room. In an ideal world I won't be, but sometimes that is still the case. We are adults and everyone should be treated with respect and equally, but that is a whole other conversation. It's great to have a CEO or a few advocates in the company who support diversity, but if it's not a part of every employee's mentality it won't happen.
If I bring something to the attention of a manager or member of the exec team, like concerns about lack of diversity or the treatment of women in tech, it should be taken seriously. If it's within the company their help is crucial, but if it is a more broad concern I want to know that I have their support. If I tell them I want more women to get into tech I want them to say "So what are you going to do about it?" and know that they will push and support me.
Help me fight my imposter syndrome
Everyone knows about Imposter Syndrome these days and it's something I suffer from. Especially as a woman in tech, and extra especially as a more junior developer. I'm incredibly hard on myself so it helps to have a team that will have my back in the fight. I don't mean that I want to be told how awesome I am, I want real advice. I want to know that my mentors started out where I did, I need to be told to step back and look at the big picture and not the day to day.
"The dark side clouds everything. Impossible to see the future is." - Yoda
That being said, it is also beneficial to be on a team that will tell other people how awesome you are. A lot of people don't like to brag or bring attention to their accomplishments, that's why you need to do it for them. Seeing others be supportive of their team mates and brag about other's accomplishments is a powerful thing. That is an environment you can't fake, and everyone deserves to be a part of.
I've been lucky enough to find a company like this, but for those still looking this is what I would expect and demand. For companies looking to hire more women and diversify your teams, I hope you learned something.

17 Backyard Activities to Keep Kids Busy This Summer
Unless your kids are the type that you can't call in from outside at night, getting your littles to stay outside in the hot Summer months can prove to be difficult - it's sweaty, bright, and sometimes boring. Make sure that there's always something for kids to do, and keep them cool, creative, and content in the backyard with these 17 activity and game ideas - most of which can be made yourself!
This Isn't Just a Cool Bike, It's a Family-Friendly Lifestyle
A brightly colored bike with a huge plastic bucket and a bunch of kids in the back popped up in my Instagram feed once and I was instantly obsessed. How fun! How cool! How practical! A little research and my next thought was "how expensive!" At nearly $2k, the Madsen kg271/BUCKET bike definitely did not qualify as an impulse buy. But I couldn't stop thinking about how this awesome and adorable bike could possibly change our family's life.
Fast forward 12 months and countless hours spent reading reviews, scrolling images, and debating the color options, and we finally went for it. It's an investment, for sure, but the bike arrived on our doorstep earlier this month and I can already say it's one of the best purchases we've ever made for our family.
Within minutes of opening the giant box (the bike comes ready to ride; all you have to do it put on the front wheel and adjust the seat!), we strapped the kids in the back and went for a spin around the neighborhood. Huge smiles and laughter ensued. The next day we packed sandwiches and drinks, invited our cousins over, and rode to the park with four kids in the back. On Sunday morning we threw on helmets and headed downtown to get bagels. The next weekend we biked 15 minutes to an Easter egg hunt that we would have absolutely otherwise driven to. On Tuesday I dropped the kids off at preschool before getting in a workout on my uphill ride back home.
You get the picture: It's only been two weeks and even with a lot of rainy days we've already used - and enjoyed - our Madsen SO MUCH. Need more convincing? Check out 13 more reasons I am completely obsessed with this bike.
Here's What Happens When You Quit Drinking
Our friends at YourTango gave up drinking, and this is what they learned.
It changed everything.
Since a young age, my mother has warned me of the dangers of alcohol. But, not in the same way that other parents might've, but in the weary way that you do when you know your child has been genetically cursed with the drinking gene on both her paternal and maternal side.
I've recently watched my father struggle with alcohol after decades of not drinking due to his father.
I spent my childhood watching my aunt battle her addiction with alcohol and drugs, and yet I went away to college and decided I could handle it. Although looking back, that was a lie. I went from being a sleepy drunk to a sloppy one. First, it was throwing up and then it was making an ass of myself while blacked out.
But, it wasn't until my past birthday that I decided to step back from inside the bottle after putting myself in one too many bad situations.
I've passed out in CVSes and Colombian clubs, woken up in a drunken stupor to find a $100 Uber bill and ran around hotel rooms ass naked.
But, the bottom line was when I couldn't remember having sex because I was so f*cked up. Despite being positive I was a willing participant, the only actual telling sight of sex was my achy vagina the next morning. After that, I decided it was time to put the bottle down for now before I was forced to do it later.
(The decision was further confirmed by a friend reminding me how I'd slipped into bed with her and her boyfriend, while still in the buck).
Truthfully, after nearly 100 days of consistent sobriety, I'm still trying to figure out if alcohol is something I could be able to enjoy leisurely since my problem was binge drinking as opposed to needing and wanting it every second of the day.
I knew how to have a glass of wine or just one beer when I was at home but when I turned up, it wasn't for play - it could actually be really scary.
The point is I'm still working out some of the details of this no-booze thing, but here's what I have discovered has happened since I stopped drinking.
1. I socialize less.
During the past couple of months, I've cut back on going out and not for the fear of being around booze but because I can't stand the pressure coming from so many directions. And, when I try to give a half-ass explanation simply stating it's to get healthy, I almost always end up just having to give an uncomfortable explanation of the previous actions that led to this decision (not in detail, of course).
2. But I socialize more.
Before you judge me for the contradiction, hear me out! Often times I would drink in social settings to get comfortable with a certain group of people or in a certain atmosphere. For instance, I only like dancing when I drink. So, I drink. But, without a boozy buffer, I've been forced to be social, strike up conversations, and bring the party on my own introverted merits. And while it's sometimes awkward at least I can recall the conversations now.
3. I lost weight.
It's no secret that alcohol isn't the best for your diet. You start to put on weight if you drink too much - and that was me. Mimosas (and screwdrivers) on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday - well - that's definitely not a recipe for weight loss. So, without it, I've fast-tracked the loss of my little pouch and said goodbye to my wine-induced FOPA.
4. I became more productive.
This one is really to the point. When you don't spend your days in bed mending your hangover just to prepare for another night of drinking, and thus another hangover you get sh*t done.
5. I saved money.
Drinks start to add up. I was drinking for brunch, joining monthly wine clubs, and still buying. I don't get paid enough for that madness.
6. I saved my life ... maybe.
With all the crazy stunts that I was pulling under the influence, it's really a lucky miracle that I wasn't kidnapped, assaulted, or worse.
My grandfather's life ended in a bottle and that's a fate I'm trying to spare myself from.

The 5 Foods a Holistic Health Counselor Always Keeps in Her Kitchen
As a nutrition and holistic health counselor, I'm asked constantly for my best kept secrets when it comes to natural supplements and tips to staying healthy. The larger secret is, unfortunately, that there is no silver bullet when it comes to creating instant health - it takes routine and repetition to create lasting and visible results and a strong immune system to fight back.
However, there are a few spotlight ingredients and go-to remedies that I rely on again and again, especially as we transition into Fall and Winter. These especially tumultuous seasons are hard on the body as our immune systems seem to be constantly bombarded by friends and employees playing telephone with the latest cold or flu going around. But the change of seasons doesn't have to mean waiting for the inevitable cold to hit.
While some of these need to be repeated regularly to really see their lasting benefit, there are a few gems that I swear by and always keep on hand. As basic as they many seem, keep in mind immunity starts in the gut, and proper nutrition is the first line of defense.
20 Minutes Is All You Need For the Best-Ever Baked Chicken Breasts
What You Should Be Eating If You Want to Lose Weight
Here are my top five kitchen pantry wellness staples to bolster immunity and staying well throughout the colder months to come.
1. Bone Broth
Yup, the same stuff your mom or grandmother used to make. I'm not talking about the canned or boxed stuff though. Head to your local farmers market or trusted butcher and source the best quality, organic, antibiotic-free, free-ranged, pastured chicken, beef, or even bison bones, gristle, and cartilage you can to make your own at home. The quality of their diet and lifestyle ultimately is what you will be benefiting from, so it does make a big difference. These bones supply the building blocks not just for your own bones, muscles, and connective tissues, but basic essential vitamins and minerals, like calcium and magnesium, that most of us are extremely low in today. We also have an easier time utilizing these nutrients from naturally occurring ingredients vs. vitamin supplements, so drink up. Think of it like a perfect seasonal and more bioavailable multivitamin - your skin will also thank you!
2. Greens, Greens, and More Greens
Whether you get the majority or your greens from green juices and smoothies, soups, green powders, algae and superfoods, or good old-fashioned, home-cooked vegetables, they are an absolute necessity to cultivating health and immunity. Just as bone broth supplies the foundation nutrients for your body, these greens supply the life force in the form of chlorophyll, vitamin A, vitamin C, antioxidants, and a host of others as well. Fiber helps to keep your digestion regular while these nutrients help to build and cleanse the blood, maintain an alkaline environment, and keep your immunity high.
3. Apple Cider Vinegar
There are nearly endless uses for apple cider vinegar. From external skin care to natural cleansing solutions to internal health care, ACV provides numerous benefits. Containing both pre- and probiotics, ACV may help ease a sore throat, nasal congestion, and stomach aches and acidity, and improve overall immunity. This may be in part due to the highly alkalizing properties ACV contains as well as the acetic acid that helps to keep pathogenic bacteria at bay. A good practice is to start your day off by consuming a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar diluted in water. If the flavor is too strong, add it to your favorite green juice or try morning drink - it actually enhances the flavor. Try gargling with it if you have a sore throat.
4. Probiotics
The health and happiness of our guts is a direct reflection of our overall wellness and even mood. We are beginning to understand more and more about the direct correlation between our gut ecology and our immunity. While it is true that many of us don't consume the balanced diets we should, we also consume less naturally occurring beneficial bacteria from the soil ingested through our produce, as well as other sources of these probiotics such as traditional raw fermented products. Along with a dependency on antibiotics, our gut health suffers, the result being a high sensitivity to the foods we consume and weakened resistance to pathogens. The fix? Load up on high-quality probiotics in the form of either a supplement, or high-quality, raw, fermented foods and beverages like kimchi, kombucha, and coconut kefir.
5. Oregano Oil
And when all else fails, my failsafe is oregano oil. It is a powerhouse restorer of health and my absolute go-to when I'm feeling anything less than 100 percent. It's a potent antibacterial and antimicrobial that also fights free radical damage, can help reduce and relieve allergies, stimulate digestion, and help to clear yeasts from the body, both externally and internally. A little goes a long way and brand to brand the quality also greatly varies. My favorite without comparison is Wild Oil of Oregano. Like with any supplements, natural or otherwise, be sure to check with your doctor or health professional about any potential interactions or complications.
UN health agency's new chief to examine 'uproar over travel costs'
The new head of the World Health Organization said he is reviewing the agency's travel expenses, after an Associated Press story revealed the U.N. agency spends more on travel than on fighting AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis combined.
17 Things Only Moms Who Live Far Away From Their Families Understand
For my entire adult life, I've lived far away from my family. Being a plane ride away from my mom, dad, and brother and every cousin, aunt, and uncle was never easy, but it never felt so heart-wrenching until I became a parent. I predicted as much, so when I was seven months pregnant, my husband and I made a difficult decision - to leave the city we'd built our lives upon, one that housed every one of our dearest friends and was within driving distance of his parents, to relocate closer to mine.
Inevitably, it didn't work out perfectly. We got close enough that we could drive to my childhood home versus fly, but whereas before, we could at least get to my in-laws' home in an hour, we were now in unchartered territory - equally "long-distance" from all of our loved ones. No matter where we turned, there were still state lines to cross and bags to pack and extensive plans to make whenever we wanted to see anyone in our extended families. Once we had our baby, however, those lines felt longer, those bags heavier, and those plans a bit more punishing.
As I did once before, I had to create a de-facto family in the city in which I lived, and I somehow seemed to gravitate to others in my same situation - fellow parents without their own parents across town. Other moms without their sisters or brothers popping by unannounced or making random weeknight plans. And, whenever the topic of our geographical distance from our loved ones would come up in conversation, I discovered striking similarities in how it made us feel.
These are the things all moms who live far away from their families understand too well:
1. Time zones.
A two-hour time difference never seemed like a big deal until you tried to negotiate your kids' bedtime routine with a long-distance friend's after-work commute.
2. The impossible notion of free child care.
Just knowing that there are parents out there who have family members watch their kids, free of charge, is almost too much to take.
3. Feeling left out of family events.
Sure, it's just your cousin's son's third piano recital of the season, but it's blowing up on your Facebook feed and giving you severe FOMO.
4. Using vacation days almost exclusively for family visits.
Whereas others might spend their paid time off in one lump sum at a resort sipping frozen alcoholic beverages poolside, you've taken off a random assortment of Fridays to beat the weekend airport rush.
5. Constantly questioning all of your life choices.
Are we really happier here? Was this really the best decision for our family? Should we divorce and move back to our respective hometowns?
6. You never get to host anything.
Why'd you bother registering for all those platters and serving bowls when you're inevitably traveling to someone else's Thanksgiving dinner or Easter brunch? Even your kids' birthday parties are on-location at a grandparents' house.
7. How just hanging out with your relatives is a foreign concept.
What would that even be like?!
8. Your resentment when any other parent complains about pretty much anything.
Frustrated that Nana feeds the kids too much junk food when she watches them on Fridays so you and your husband can have a regularly scheduled date night? Nope. Take that sorry excuse for a problem elsewhere.
9. Worrying your kids don't truly "know" their extended family.
Prepping flash cards with loved ones' photos and bits of trivia ("Uncle George's favorite snack is pretzels!") isn't something you haven't done.
10. Spending more money to participate in most things.
Everyone else spends $50 or so on a baby shower gift. You spend that $50 plus the cost of airfare and an overpriced inflight movie for a fussy toddler - an estimated $550 markup.
11. Having to share big news over the phone.
No gender reveal party for you - even your pregnancy announcement was, at most, a grainy video call that, of course, cut out right before you could see their reactions.
12. Being reminded that it was your decision to live far away.
You better not ever mention anything remotely related to proximity, or you'll be put right in your place.
13. Your kids' ability to operate FaceTime.
Screen-time rules go out the window when the tablet starts buzzing with that familiar ringtone.
14. The cruelty of checked-baggage fees.
You resent the millennial who travels with just his iPhone and a neck pillow while you're sneaking on an extra personal item that's simply a giant ziplock stuffed with Goldfish crackers.
15. Weekends home always feel simultaneously rushed and guilt-ridden.
You have 41 hours to see your parents and an additional seven hours to explain to them why you have a right to see that one high school friend for a 45-minute coffee date.
16. The unspoken countdown.
The first 15 minutes you see your family are filled with joy, but the rest of the time is mentally preparing for the heart-wrenching moment you'll have to say goodbye again.
17. Feeling oddly empowered by the solitude.
You get to make all the decisions about what's best for your family without anyone judging or meddling.
Exactly Where You Can Find Disney's Elusive Buffalo Bleu Cheese Popcorn
Of the many foods that Disney has to offer, the buffalo bleu cheese popcorn might be one of the tastiest and most difficult to find. As the popcorn is only available at Walt Disney World's Epcot, it's definitely not as well-known - it can even be difficult to spot when you're actually at Epcot.
According to the Disney Food Blog, the buffalo bleu cheese popcorn was introduced sometime in 2015. The savory snack is available at a gourmet popcorn cart just outside of the Journey into Imagination with Figment attraction. The cart also sells cheddar cheese and sour cream and chive popcorn, with each priced at just under $5.
So, is the buffalo bleu cheese popcorn any good? Well, of course! Based on a little Instagram research, the popcorn flavor is a hit. The Disney Food Blog also described it as being "striking visually" with a "complex" flavor profile." Adding, "Spicy and vinegary, with a rich bleu cheese undertone. It was deeeeeelicious!" Ahead, see pictures from the lucky visitors who've had the chance to try it.

Women's March Cofounder Tamika Mallory Speaks Out on Linda Sarsour's Jihad Comments
Image Source: Getty / Paras Griffin
Linda Sarsour, one of the country's foremost Muslim activists and cofounder of the Women's March, found herself at the center of a media frenzy this week after a Facebook Live video surfaced from a July 1 event in which she likened the struggle for Muslims in Donald Trump's America to jihad. In an interview with POPSUGAR on July 7, Tamika Mallory - one of Sarsour's Women's March cofounders - spoke out in her defense.
In Sarsour's keynote speech at the Islamic Society of North America's Community Service Recognition Luncheon, she recounted the story of a man who asked Muhammad, "What is the best form of jihad, or struggle?" to which Muhammad responded, "A word of truth in front of a tyrant ruler or leader, that is the best form of jihad." Sarsour used the quote to advocate speaking truth to power, saying, "I hope that when we stand up to those who oppress our communities, that Allah accepts from us that as a form of jihad, that we are struggling against tyrants and rulers not only abroad in the Middle East or on the other side of the world, but here in these United States of America, where you have fascists and white supremacists and Islamophobes reigning in the White House."
Despite the fact that Sarsour was using the word jihad in its most conventional sense - in Arabic, it's used to describe a struggle or striving toward something - the word is laden with negative contemporary connotations, and conservative outlets and online commentators were quick to jump on the soundbite as a call for violence. Sarsour took to Twitter to combat the onslaught of negativity, explaining that she would never advocate for any sort of violent behavior and that her activism was rooted in "Kingian non-violence."
Mallory, who is organizing next week's NRA2DOJ protest in Washington, strongly pushed back against any accusations that Sarsour did or would promote violence. "The only thing I have to say is that if anyone listens to the full speech and reads everything that she said, they would know that there was nothing in her speech, that she said, that calls for violence or harm, physical harm, to be done to anyone," she told POPSUGAR. "And that's just the truth."

"I think that some people want to say that her words are being taken out of context," Mallory continued. "I wouldn't say that her words are being taken out of context. I would say that she is purposely being demonized. It was happening before the Women's March, but it really started after the Women's March, that people have been trying their best to use her words against her," Mallory added.
Mallory points to Sarsour's long-held pacifist views in contrast to the threats that she and her Women's March colleagues are now facing as a result of the media backlash. "I've never seen Linda Sarsour write an email to someone telling them that she would kill them. But yet, those are the types of emails that she has been receiving all day. I received an email today where somebody wanted to get the email to her, through me, that told me that they will do to her something that she won't be able to see, or feel, and they won't know where it's coming from. But we're the violent ones?"
Our full interview with Tamika Mallory, in which she discusses the NRA2DOJ effort, her history with activism, and why gun control is a vital issue for feminists, will be published on July 11 on POPSUGAR News.
Kesha Addresses Her Awkward Encounter With Jerry Seinfeld: "I Should Have Known Better"
Remember when Kesha attempted to hug Jerry Seinfeld and he totally rejected her? Well, Kesha is finally opening up about the cringeworthy moment. The singer, who is currently promoting her new single "Praying," told SiriusXM's Hits1 on Friday that she felt like she was "5 years old" after the incident. "I instantly was like, 'Oh f*ck me." And I like somehow ended up in my very own mini-episode of Seinfeld for like five seconds." She then added that she's a huge fan of the show, saying, "I've seen every episode a thousand times. I used to carry the whole season package with me everywhere on my carry-on. Like DVDs . . . That's why I wanted a hug so hard." "He's not a huggy guy, that's fine," Kesha concluded. "I should have known better. I've seen the hugging episode. That was my fault."
Days after the video of the awkward embrace went viral, Jerry explained the encounter, telling Extra, "I'm 63. I don't know every pop star. . . . I don't know everyone. I'm not [a hugger]." It's also pretty clear from the clip that Jerry meant no ill intent; he simply just didn't know who Kesha was.
What You Should Be Eating If You Want to Lose Weight
As we age and our metabolisms slow, it's easy to pack on a few pounds without realizing it. But a study has found that making consistent changes to your eating habits can lead to big weight-loss results over time.
The 2015 study, first published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, followed the dietary habits of over 120,000 people for 16 years and found that those who ate foods that had a high glycemic load (which includes refined grains, starches, and sugars) gained more weight than those who ate foods with a low glycemic load (foods such as nuts, dairy, and certain fruits and vegetables). This isn't surprising or new; other research has shown that going lower on the glycemic index (GI) scale will help you lose weight. What is interesting in the new study, however, is that other key habits can mean the difference between pounds on the scale. Check out what else the researchers found about weight gain and loss:
- Those who ate more yogurt, seafood, skinless chicken, and nuts lost the most weight; in fact, the more people ate of these foods, the less weight they gained.
- The researchers found, however, no difference in weight gain in those who ate low-fat vs full-fat dairy.
- Diets with more red and processed meat intake were associated with weight gain, especially when meat was paired with refined grains or starches.
- Eating meat paired with low-GI foods, however (like vegetables), helped reduce weight gain.
- Eating foods like eggs and cheese along with high-GI foods was linked to weight gain, while eating these foods with low-GI foods led to weight loss.
In general, the researchers found that the best diets for weight loss were high in protein-rich foods like fish, nuts, and yogurt, which helped prevent weight gain. Avoiding refined grains, starches, and sugars further helped, as did replacing red meat consumption with other protein-rich foods like eggs and cheese. It may seem like common sense, but taking the time to fill your plate with lean proteins and vegetables and other low-GI foods will help you lose or maintain weight throughout the years. 18 Photos That Show How William and Harry Have Embraced Camilla as Their Stepmom
When Camilla Parker Bowles married Prince Charles in April 2005, she not only got a husband but also expanded her family. Camilla shares daughter Laura and son Tom with ex-husband Andrew Parker Bowles, and Charles has two sons, Prince Harry and Prince William, from his marriage to Princess Diana. The royal family often attends official events together, and while Camilla doesn't seem to have as much fun with William and Harry as she does with Kate Middleton, it appears the brothers have certainly accepted Camilla as their stepmother. Read on to see some of their best moments together.

Prince Harry, Man After Our Own Hearts, Now Has His Own "Harry Mix" of Haribo Gummies
During his recent two-day trip to Leeds, England, Prince Harry made a very, very important pit stop among visits to a children's hospital and charity fair. The royal went by a brand-new Haribo factory located in the neighboring town of Castleford. The man sure does know the key to our hearts: gummy bears!
While at the factory, Harry was taken on a guided tour of the facilities to see how these fruity treats are made. A vital detail that's 100 percent worth noting: he wore a hairnet shaped like a fedora while walking around the factory, while the employees were simply sporting regular ol' blue hairnets. Yep, he's just that cool.
After scoping out the manufacturing process, the royal was gifted his own personalized box of goodies: "Harry Mix," a collection of jelly-like candies shaped to resemble his face. Upon receiving these funny treats, which were unfortunately only created for him and will not be sold in stores, he admitted that he'd most likely be keeping them all for himself. "Thank you very, very much. I will do my best to either eat them or . . . it may be a bit weird sharing these," he joked, according to Global News.
Haribo gummies + Prince Harry = a match made in heaven. Read on to see footage from his factory visit, and be sure to take note of that epic hairnet.

7 Reasons Why Jackie Kennedy Is Still a Style Icon
She's been gone for over 20 years, but Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis's style is still as pervasive as it was when she was first lady of the United States back in the early 1960s. Jackie O, as the tabloids dubbed her, brought on a new, more casual way of dressing, and she made such accessories as a pillbox hat and oversize sunglasses synonymous with her own name.
Look back at the style icon's most notable fashion moments, and see for yourself how she still lives on.

I Put My Career First, and Now I Can't Get Pregnant
"Your career won't keep you warm at night when you're old!"
"Isn't it lonely, without children?"
"Man! I wish I had it easy like you; no daycare expenses, no playdates, total freedom!"
I spent my whole life avoiding getting pregnant. I would take every form of contraceptive my gynecologist would write me. I kept a stash of Plan B in my refrigerator like they were Chinese restaurant sauce packets. I avoided pregnancy as if it were a death sentence, and the ironic thing is that now, I can't get pregnant.
My early 20s were spent focused on my education and my career, nose constantly to the grindstone. I moved from a rural town with a depressing landscape and even more depressing economy rooted deep in the steel mill industry and headed for the Big City. My job was a fairly high-ranking VP position for a national bank, something very unusual for someone barely 25. Managing a team of 15, we were responsible for 35 percent of the company's revenue yearly. I had zero time to even entertain having a kid, let alone think I was fit to have one.
I was irresponsible and reckless in every other way, however. I used unpaid speeding tickets as bookmarks. My version of grocery shopping was grabbing buffalo wings and picking out what to mix with vodka when I was tired of Red Bull. (Life hack: Capri Sun does the trick.) Late-night partying into my 30s, binge drinking, a diet that would give Mama June a run for her gravy-and-biscuit-loving money served with a side of frequent sleep deprivation. Top it off with self-loathing and body-image issues, and I was the poster child of who shouldn't have a kid - or a plant, for that matter.
I was barely able to keep the lights on and buy gifts for all my friends who were cranking out kids like I was cranking out cold calls to recruiters.
Where my friends were renting tiny apartments in desirable zip codes to afford kindergarten tuition for their children, I was blowing my disposable income on travel, designer shoes, and a supercute turn-of-the-century fifth-floor walk-up in the city. The envy of all my friends with my freedom, savings account, and shirts without spit-up, I still felt inadequate. Be it the fear of missing out - on what? I was at all the places to be, doing all the things to do - or the nagging feeling that time was slipping through my fingers like sand, I felt as if I was behind the curve.
Was I missing out by not having a kid? Is there something about being a parent that just zips up your life into this neat little box that makes it oh so worth it? Every bad situation for the rest of your life is dulled like a butter knife because you have reproduced?
My friends weren't necessarily glowing with happiness. Some were divorced or on their second marriage because of the stress of having kids so young. They were struggling to make ends meet, paying for private preschools while acting as permanent chaperone for the life they brought into this world. Some missed out on job promotions, 21st birthday parties, furthering their education, or starting their own business. They didn't quite seem like the epitome of happiness . . but neither was I.
In a string of absolutely terrible relationships - I tried to have a child with one person for over a year thinking, "Hey, genetics will do this kid well, he seems like a well-enough mate," and I never got pregnant; the world works in mysterious ways - a bevy of bad jobs, crappy cars, and a meth addict neighbor who had a penchant for singing opera whilst hammering pictures into his walls at 4 a.m. put me in the running for a walk-on role on The Walking Dead. I was spent, but I was enjoying just living life. And the entire time, I had a thought clawing around in the back of my head that I was doing it all wrong.
Growing up, my mother always told me to focus on education, career, and myself. Hold off on or don't even have children. She herself was married, and subsequently divorced, fairly young. Sometimes, I felt that her beating this doctrine into my head was to keep me from making the same mistakes she did. But was it really a mistake? Was having me, my dad, a house in the 'burbs, and all the things the Cleavers said we needed to really all that bad?
Bottom line is, I was doing exactly what she wanted me to, and I felt miserable about it. I felt as if I was abstaining from having kids because she didn't want me to procreate, not because I myself didn't feel it was right. Or at least that's what I was telling myself.
What changed from 22 to 32 that all of a sudden I wouldn't feel like dying if the little window showed me a "+"?
Month after month, my body lets me down. It's like your period is Mother Nature's way of punishing you for not getting pregnant, not functioning as designed. Take bloating, shame, depression, acne out of nowhere, and cramps that could bring down a mountain lion, and add that to the fact you just heard about a woman's third unwanted pregnancy without so much as batting an eye. It's enough to drive you insane. Back to the vodka/Capri Sun cocktail. You pout at the kitchen counter pounding vodka whilst sipping juice through an unbelievably tiny straw and wonder, "Maybe this is why I can't get pregnant? Maybe this is the rest of my life?" I know that these aren't the reasons. I know that infertility is a widespread issue, that I'm in the same boat rowing with over 1.6 million women, all of us crying, bloated, raging, and hormonal. I know it's my genes, and not my fault entirely.
Struggling with this for the past few years, I looked for a reason. Turns out there is no right answer. I worked so very hard to accomplish as much as I could in my 20s, and I will continue to reap the benefits. A superyoung woman in a male-dominated industry kicking ass and taking names while only getting praise and recognition in her field? I can't let myself down or forget how important all the things I have done are. I have been successful at just about anything I put my mind to but this, and I cannot let this define me.
My partner and I will traverse this spinning blue marble called Earth together, hand in hand. He is OK with it just being the two of us, and for that I am tremendously grateful. I just have to realize that I'm alright, he's alright, we're alright, and this is alright too. Soon, my friends' kids will be grown and out of the house, and I will have my friendships back. Conversations will go back to adult things, like 401(k)s and vacation homes, instead of teething rings, Goddard Schools, and organic beet puree.
The grass will always be greener on the other side, and it took me a decade to realize it's because the other side pays a Homeowners Association Fee to maintain the lawns.

15 Summer Panties So Comfortable You Might Not Want to Take Them Off
When it comes to sweltering Summer days, the undergarments we choose to wear are pretty important. Whether you're a fan of delicate lace bralettes or freeing the nipple (to each their own), the main goal is comfort.
The same can be said for your panties. You want a pair that provides breathability and perhaps looks seamless so they don't show up under your sheer dresses. Shopping for the "Summer panty," as we're calling it, isn't too hard. Look for mesh or lace options made of lightweight cotton or silk. We even provided some shopping options ahead. When you slip these babies on, you won't feel a thing.
Are Protein Cookies the New Protein Bars?
Sometimes you don't want a protein bar, but you need fuel. Other times you might want a cookie, but you know you need to get a little more nutrition. In either of those cases, you might want to reach for an Oatmega Cookie (according to our taste testers, reach for the peanut butter variety).
Each 340-calorie, gluten-free cookie has 15-17 grams of fat, 12-13 grams of protein, 12-13 grams of sugar, and 40-41 grams of carbohydrates. It also offers a substantial amount of fiber (9-10 grams - roughly 40 percent of your daily intake) with about 25 percent of your vitamin C and 15 percent of your daily calcium. The cookies are also enriched with omega-3s (from "responsibly caught fish oil") to aid in a healthy heart and boosted mood.
The base of these cookies are gluten-free oat flour and grass-fed whey protein, meaning they're not dairy-free or vegan, but they're loaded with bioavailable protein. The cookies are non-GMO, and all three varieties contain almond butter, sugar, brown sugar, and other recognizable ingredients you'd see in a regular cookie.
Our in-office taste testers were big fans of the peanut butter ("Tastes amazing!" was a big descriptor) but less into the chocolate chip and white chocolate macadamia flavors (two reviewers said the white chocolate one tasted "very orangey" . . . ). Here are a few bits of feedback:
- "Definitely not as good as a regular cookie, but way better than any protein bar - especially the peanut butter flavor."
- "I'd definitely eat this after a tough workout, but it's also good as a protein-packed dessert when a sugar craving hits."
- "Each day we stray further from God's light."
- "Love it! Tastes amazing."
Thinking of giving these a try after a hard workout? Definitely grab the PB!

How to Make Frosting For Cakes, Cupcakes, and Beyond
Frosting, aka the fluffy, sweet, buttery spread that goes over cakes, cookies, and cupcakes, isn't so hard to make homemade if you set yourself up for success. First, you must have a large bowl and a hand mixer or stand mixer. If you don't own either, a hand mixer is significantly cheaper. If a whisk is what you're working with, consider making whipped cream instead of frosting.
Next, silky smooth frosting requires a little planning. You must put the butter (and cream cheese) out a few hours prior to come to room temperature. Otherwise, if you try to whip them up cold, the frosting may turn out lumpy or dense. Spreadable fluff is what we're after, and that can only be achieved if the fats are whipped at room temperature! Lastly, always sift the powdered sugar (and cacao powder if applicable) before whipping into the frosting. Once again, if you skip this step, your frosting may turn out as lumpy as tapioca pudding and there's no turning back. No, thanks!
Now that you're ready to beat all the ingredients together, here's the basic technique: In a large bowl, whip the softened butter (and sometimes cream cheese) until it becomes light and fluffy. Slowly mix in the sifted powdered sugar a little at a time until a thick paste forms. Next, whip in the vanilla. Lastly, add the milk one tablespoon at a time and beat for another few minutes or so until you reach a fluffy, spreadable consistency. I personally love using heavy whipping cream in place of milk so that the icing becomes voluminous and whips up almost like whipped cream. That's it! Now, you're ready to decorate your dessert.
One thing to note: do not refrigerate buttercream. It should have enough sugar to preserve it at room temperature for a few days. If you refrigerate the buttercream, it will stiffen up like butter and you'll need to let it come to room temperature (and rewhip it a few minutes using the mixer) before attempting to frost your treats.
Now that you're ready, here are a few classic frostings to get you started.
Basic Buttercream

Cream Cheese Frosting

A few of my other favorite additions to frosting are salt and citrus zest. If you love cookies with salt on top or salted caramel, then you'll get a kick out of adding a few teaspoons of salt to buttercream. Another easy way to add flavor is by mixing the zest of lemon into the frosting, although lime, grapefruit, and orange will also work.

Angela Merkel Rolls Her Eyes at Putin, and It's Immensely Gratifying
German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Russian President Vladimir Putin aren't exactly the best of friends - and never was that more apparent in a rather amusing candid moment caught on camera at the G20 Summit. The G20 brings together world leaders to discuss trade, economics, and - of course - politics. So naturally, tensions often run high - and when they do, you can count on the internet to spot them.
In the clip, posted by Twitter user and journalist Simon Ricketts, Putin is talking to Merkel about something. However, she looks pretty done with him, rolls her eyes, and appears to let out a small sigh, as well.

Here's What You Need to Know About Spider-Man: Homecoming's Aaron Davis
Warning: spoilers for Spider-Man: Homecoming below!
Of all the familiar characters that pop up in Spider-Man: Homecoming, one in particular should give any fan of the comics some pause: Aaron Davis. Donald Glover appears as the well-meaning criminal in the latest iteration of the web-slinger's story, and his arrival has some pretty serious (and exciting) implications for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So, who is Aaron Davis, aka The Prowler, exactly?
The Prowler character first appears in the Amazing Spider-Man comics back in 1969, where he's just an engineer with dreams of becoming a hero. He builds his Prowler suit to rob the Daily Bugle and then turn that money into the police under his real identity, Hobie Brown, and gain acclaim, but the plan goes off the rails and he ends up fighting with Spider-Man. Hobie isn't a bad guy at heart, though, and helps Peter Parker later on in other storylines.
The version of the Prowler we meet in Spider-Man: Homecoming, however, is not Hobie Brown. Instead, it's Aaron Davis, who fans will know from the Ultimate Spider-Man series which is set in an alternate universe where Peter Parker dies after a brutal fight with the Green Goblin, who'd recently escaped from S.H.I.E.L.D. custody. Aaron is a career criminal and skilled burglar, who's pulled off a number of heists with his brother, Jefferson, and later becomes known as the Prowler. Although Jefferson gives up his life of crime after he welcomes a son, Miles Morales, Aaron continues on as a thief. He eventually steals some tech from Oscorp on behalf of Roxxon (a massive petroleum corporation), but accidentally takes something else home from the lab as well: the same kind of genetically enhanced spider that bit Peter Parker and gave him his powers.
That spider ends up biting Aaron's young nephew, Miles, and it doesn't take long for the kid to start swinging through NYC himself.
Though Miles and Aaron are initially close, their relationship deteriorates after Aaron discovers his nephew's powers, and Miles finds out about his uncle's double life as a serious criminal. Aaron blackmails Miles into helping him defeat the Scorpion (a Mexican crime lord), and once they do, Miles refuses to help Aaron ever again, telling him he needs to leave their family and the city forever. Aaron responds by attempting to take Miles out with one of his vibro-shock gauntlets, but the plan backfires and one of the gauntlets explodes, leaving Aaron severely injured. Unfortunately he succumbs to his wounds the next day.
This, of course, is not at all featured in Homecoming. In fact, the movie just barely acknowledges the existence of Miles with a throwaway line. The important thing, however, is that he acknowledges him at all. It means that Miles Morales is in the same universe as Tom Holland's Peter Parker, and that one day far, far in the future, he might take up Spidey's mantle.

Sad! Trump Reportedly Forgot to Book a Hotel For the G20 Summit
While preparing for the G20 summit in Hamburg, Germany, President Donald Trump and his team forgot to arrange one very important detail: securing a hotel for the duration of the event. That's right; Trump, a man with multiple hotels to his name, nearly didn't have a hotel room to stay in for one of the year's biggest gatherings of worldwide leaders. The irony is almost too much to handle.
The G20 meeting schedule was announced back in February 2016, and yet Trump's staff was left scrambling to find accommodations at the last minute, according to local sources. The Hamburger Abendblatt, a news outlet in Hamburg, reported that the White House initially had its sights set on the Four Seasons but that it - along with every other luxury hotel in the vicinity - was already completely full when Trump's staff attempted to make reservations.
So, how on earth did this oversight happen? It certainly can't help that Trump's State Department remains pretty understaffed, seeing as he's barely made a dent in getting his nominations confirmed since taking office.
15 Times Spice World Spoke to You as a Grown-Ass, Functioning Adult
Here's the story from A to Z: Spice World is one of the most iconic films of all time. The movie, which turns a whopping 20 years old this year (can you believe it was first released in 1997?!), has so many standout moments that we don't even know where to begin. While the Spice Girls instilled girl power in us basically from the very first time we heard "Wannabe," the movie took things to a whole new level. We have Melanie Brown ("Scary Spice"), Melanie Chisholm ("Sporty Spice"), Emma Bunton ("Baby Spice"), Geri Halliwell ("Ginger Spice"), and Victoria Beckham ("Posh Spice") to thank for that. Rainbow robes? Check. Dancing in a club? Check. Posh's hilarious one-liners? Check. Keep reading to see all the times the '90s movie still relates to you today.

What You Can Expect From Once Upon a Time's Rebooted Season 7
Once Upon a Time is taking a new direction when it returns for its seventh season this Fall, and it's both scary and exciting. While creators Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz have "reinvented" the show in the past with new characters and realms, this season will be entirely different as the story flashes forward to an adult Henry Mills and his daughter, Lucy - but don't call this season a reboot. Even though a lot of the stars will be exiting the show, you can rest assured it will still pay homage to the original. Here's what you can expect to happen next season.
1. There's a New Hero in Town
With Jennifer Morrison's departure, the story won't be about Emma Swan anymore. Instead, her son, Henry, will be stepping up as the show's leading hero alongside his daughter, Lucy. Although, unlike his mother, it seems his journey may take place outside of Storybrooke.
2. Henry Is Married (or at Least, Was)
Following the finale, one of the biggest questions remains: who is Lucy's mother? While we have our theories about her identity, Edward Kitsis teased that she has an epic romance with Henry in the tradition of Snow and Charming. Yep, there is a Mrs. Mills.
3. There Are New Stories to Be Told
Even though a lot of our favorite characters will be exiting the show, there are even more characters and new worlds on the horizon. Following the exit of some of our favorite actors, the show has recently added five new faces to the season seven cast.
4. There Will Be Flashbacks
In true Once Upon a Time form, the show will still include flashbacks. Seeing that the finale includes a big jump forward, we can only assume these scenes will piece together what actually happens to adult Henry and his family after the final battle.
5. The Enchanted Forest Is in Danger . . . Again
As we learned in the two-part finale, the Enchanted Forest is in grave danger and only Henry can stop it.
6. The Show Is Still About Hope
One thing you can count on to stay the same next season is the theme of hope. Having the heart of the truest believer, Henry's loss of faith will be a major jumping off point for the coming season.
7. There Might Be a New Town (and Curse)
Seeing that Storybrooke will no longer be the primary setting next season, it seems likely that the title for the season seven premiere, "Hyperion Heights," is actually the name of the new town. So, does this mean our favorite storybook characters will face yet another Dark Curse? Maybe. During Upfronts, ABC chief Channing Dungey revealed that Hook, the Evil Queen, and Rumplestiltskin would return "with new identities, in a new city, facing a new curse."
