Be sure to get plenty of rest before the movie hits theaters Jan. 5, 2018, because you'll probably never sleep again after watching it.

Pediatrician's Extreme Message on Vaccines and "Measles-Shedding Children" Is Better Than Gold
Good guy mike
If your baby is a patient of Dr. Mike Ginsberg, don't expect to be able to skip getting your little one vaccinated or to be able to wait it out while you debate the possible pros and cons of these shots. For all of his current and future patients, Mike has a strong message about vaccines and he isn't afraid to share it.
"In my practice, you will vaccinate and you will vaccinate on time. You will not get your own 'spaced-out' schedule that increases your child's risk of illness or adverse events," he wrote on Facebook after a measles outbreak in 2015. "I will not have measles-shedding children sitting in my waiting room."
Although his firm stance could be considered controversial, a screenshot of his words is still going viral as parents continue to support his strong position. The California doctor who practices at North Bay Healthcare explained that he will answer all parents' questions regarding vaccines and will present them with nothing but the facts on the matter. "But if you will not vaccinate, then you will leave my practice," he wrote. "I will file a CPS report (not that they will do anything) for medical neglect, too."
Ginsberg's reasoning is simple and clear: his patients matter and, as a doctor, he refuses to jeopardize their health.
"I have patients who are premature infants with weak lungs and hearts. I have kids with complex congenital heart disease. I have kids who are on chemotherapy for acute lymphoblastic leukemia who cannot get all of their vaccines. In short, I have patients who have true special needs and true health issues who could suffer severe injury or death because of your magical belief that your kid is somehow more special than other children and that what's good for other children is not good for yours.
This pediatrician is not putting up with it. Never have, never will."
This Was by Far the Best Thing I Did on My Maui Vacation
If you're planning a trip to Maui, chances are you're already a little bit familiar with Haleakala National Park. Rising over 10,000 feet above sea level, Haleakala is the highest peak on the island. It's remote and otherworldly, far away from noise and light from the surrounding area. Given all of this, it should come as no surprise that it's a major tourist destination, especially for seeing the sunrise.
There is, of course, one small catch . . . given Haleakala's location and windy drive, you'll have to start your journey to the summit around 3 a.m., which is exactly why so many decide to skip out on this spectacle altogether. Let's be real: people don't come to Maui to wake up early - waking up early is the exact opposite of living on island time! But I urge you to do it. Just set the alarm and get in your car in the pitch black and make the drive; you will not be disappointed.
My partner and I were almost those people that skipped Haleakala. It wasn't until our flight to Maui that we decided to make the early morning trek. Even now it's hard to convey the pure majesty of a sunrise on Haleakala. Mark, my partner, is an avid rock climber and has seen hundreds of sunrises on peaks around the world. As the sun started coming up through the clouds that morning, he was left speechless. Later that day, he would share with me that this was the most beautiful sunrise of his life. From a man that spends his life climbing mountains, I took that to be a pretty impressive statement.
When you arrive, it's cold and dark and hard to see or get a sense of your surroundings. But as the sun starts to peek out, the clouds come into view and you can start to see outlines of Haleakala's deep valley below and rough volcanic rock. As this happens, a park ranger performs an ancient mele oli (chant) that was once sung by ancient Hawaiian priests hundreds of years earlier. It's an emotional moment to hear nothing but the sounds of this beautiful song while the sun reveals itself over a bed of billowy clouds. It's not very often that a large group of people are moved into silence because of beauty . . . this is one of those moments. I am not being dramatic when I say this sunrise will change your life. Thinking back on it now, I can't believe we almost skipped this.
On the drive back down, definitely reward yourself by stopping at Kula Lodge. The restaurant opens at 7 a.m. every day, which is right about the time you'll get there once you leave the summit. The restaurant is situated in the mountains and has incredible views of the western side of the island. It also has the most amazing macadamia nut pancakes (with coconut syrup!) I have had in my life.
Basic Tips Before Going
- You need a permit to enter the park: To limit the size of the crowd, the national park service (NPS) now requires a reservation for each car that enters the park. Reservations can be made up to 60 days in advance and cost $2. If you do not have a reservation, it's very likely you will be turned away; we saw this happen to another party on our drive up. In addition to the reservation, you will also need to pay for an entrance fee of $25 per car at the time you enter the park. However, if you have an Annual National Parks Pass (like we did), the $25 fee is waived. You can opt out of driving yourself and pay for a tour, but I recommend driving. It's less hectic than dealing with a large group and you have much more control of what time you want to hit the road.
- It's freezing up there, so dress accordingly: The summit of Haleakala is 10,023 feet above sea level and the sun has yet to come out - it's going to be cold. Do not be one of those tourists that shows up in board shorts and a tank top; you will freeze. Before dawn, expect temps to be around 30 degrees Fahrenheit. I felt comfortable wearing a beanie, gloves, jeans, and several wool base layers under a jacket. My partner just opted to pack his puffy down jacket.
- Find a place away from the crowds: While there are two main viewing areas, there are several short trails that will take you to areas a little less populated to watch the sunrise. We chose the Pa Kaoao Trail (a .6-mile paved road), which got us a little above the main crowds and felt even more isolated since there were maybe only 10 other people up there. Do bring a headlamp or flashlight if you plan to wander off from the main viewing areas.
- Check the time: Depending on where you are staying on the island, the drive to the summit will take you two to three hours. Be sure to check what time the sun will be rising when you are there. The last thing you want is to miss it because you were late!

After Reading This, You May Want to Rethink Your Choice in Butter
To choose unsalted or salted butter? For years, I defiantly went against the recommendations of most chefs, pastry experts, and food bloggers, who claim unsalted is far superior for many reasons, which we'll get to later. For me, Kerrygold salted butter and Trader Jacques Cultured Salted Butter practically live in my fridge at all times. I can't get enough of the salted, creamy flavor, which seems to boost the flavor of my pancakes, chocolate chip cookies, and Marcella Hazan tomato sauce. Why would I ever switch to unsalted? Well, after unearthing some evidence against salted butter, I'm left thinking I'm going to have to rethink my butter purchases. So, here's what you should know so you too can make informed choices at the grocery store.
Salted butter has a longer shelf life.
Salt, as we know, is a preservative, meaning it extends the shelf life of butter. According to Food52, salted butter keeps for five months, while unsalted only lasts for three. For me, this is good news. I don't eat a lot of butter, and it helps to know that my stick isn't going to go rancid and spoil too quickly. However, the flip side is, the salted butter you just purchased could potentially be older and less fresh than the unsalted butter next to it. Always check the "best by" date on the butter you buy.
The salt amount varies company to company.
When you buy salted butter, there's no standard for how much salt is added per stick. While this may seem alarming, keep in mind that it may only vary about 300 milligrams. Good Housekeeping listed a few popular brands, and they contained between 600 and 900 milligrams of salt per stick. From a purely taste perspective, this can be slightly troublesome. Recipe developers want to ensure that their recipes taste the exact same person to person, and it's difficult to control the exact flavor if each salted butter tastes differently. That's why chefs and recipe developers prefer using unsalted, so when they say, "add one teaspoons kosher salt," they can control exactly how salty your dish will turn out.
From a health perspective, the FDA currently recommends 2,300 milligrams of sodium a day (1 teaspoon of table salt) for the average adult. One tablespoon of salted butter may clock in at around 100 milligrams of sodium, which (to me) doesn't seem too excessive, but it may be worrisome for someone watching his or her sodium levels.
Salted butter can affect the taste and texture of baked goods.
Food52 and Good Housekeeping conducted taste tests with baked goods (using both salted and unsalted butter) and discovered salted butter contains more water than unsalted butter, resulting in gummier, paler baked treats. Blind taste testers across the board preferred the treats baked with unsalted butter (and salt added in). Unsalted butter resulted in crispier, more golden baked goods.
So what should you buy?
America's Test Kitchen claims salted butter is fine as a topping for savory foods, like melted over corn (or other veggies) and slathered on toast, English muffins, or biscuits. However, unsalted is the way to go for baked goods. ATK takes it one step further and mentions that butter sold in wax paper or parchment paper (often cheaper) goes rancid quicker since the wax paper is more porous, allowing refrigerator scents, light, and air to enter in. This dries out and taints the flavor of the butter. That's why it recommends buying butter packaged in foil, which helps keep the moisture in and "nasty" refrigerator scents out.

This Is Hands Down the Most Iconic Dress Jennifer Lopez Has Ever Worn
The year: 2000. The scene: we had just survived Y2K (nothing actually happened), and Latinx singers like Ricky Martin and Christina Aguilera were everywhere. Jennifer Lopez was dating Sean "Diddy" Combs, who had just moved on from the name Puff Daddy. Jennifer's song "Waiting For Tonight" was nominated for best dance recording, and the couple decided to attend the Grammy Awards held on Feb. 23, 2000, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. J Lo wore the dress that would forever be etched in every human's memory: that famous palm-leaf-printed, low-cut, chiffon Versace number. Seventeen years later, you can still find us admiring Jennifer's incredible fashion moment. We can't think of any other look that defined the early 2000s more than that dress.
Kate Middleton Has Something That No Other British Royal Bride Does
We've learned quite a bit about Kate Middleton since she officially joined the royal family in 2011, and getting to see her many milestones as the Duchess of Cambridge has been a real delight. Even though her new life as a duchess has afforded her the same opulent jewels, lavish living quarters, and frequent public appearances as everyone else, there's one thing Kate has that none of the other women in the family do: a college education.
When Kate and William met in 2001, they were both students at University of St. Andrews in Fife, Scotland. They graduated in 2005, William with a master's in geography and Kate with a master's degree (with honors) in art history - making her the UK's first royal bride with a university degree. If Kate becomes queen, she will also be the first ever to have attended college.

Though she didn't attend college, current monarch Queen Elizabeth II's education is nothing to sneeze at. She was essentially homeschooled but had the cream of the crop when it came to teachers. After she became heir to the throne in 1936, she studied constitutional history and law with Eton College Vice Provost Henry Marten. She also learned French, music, and literature from a personal governess and took lessons in religion from the Archbishop of Canterbury. When she was 18, she joined the Women's Auxiliary Territorial Service during World War II, training as a mechanic and driver.

Why the Copper IUD Just Didn't Work For Me
When I was 20 years old, I started using the Nuva Ring for birth control. Within three months I was hospitalized for a pulmonary embolism, which meant there were large blood clots blocking a major artery in my lungs. I was lucky the doctors caught it soon enough before it turned into a heart attack or a stroke.
After a long recovery, I was told that hormonal birth control was no longer an option for me. Since the artificial hormones had caused the blood clots in the first place, my best option for safe birth control was the hormone-free Paragard IUD. This IUD is known to cause painful and extremely crampy periods, but I opted in for it anyway, because I didn't want to run the risk of putting hormones into my body and having a pulmonary embolism once again.
The insertion process of the IUD was far from pleasant, but it was the following few months that really took a toll on me. My periods lasted for eight days straight and the cramps were so bad I had to take off work to stay home and rest. I was losing so much blood that I actually felt dizzy and had little interest in the things that used to excite me.
Alyssa Dweck, MD, gynecologist in New York, and author of The Complete A to Z For Your V: Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Your Vagina, told POPSUGAR that, while there are upsides to using a Paragard IUD (sometimes also called the copper IUD), these side effects can be tough to handle.
"The Paragard IUD typically causes periods to be longer, heavier, and crampier," Dr. Dweck told POPSUGAR. While symptoms are generally meant to even out after the first few months, it's not uncommon for women to remove their IUDs because the side effects encroach too heavily on their everyday lives. "This is not an unusual scenario, especially for women who have not had children before," she said.
I stuck it out with the Paragard IUD for 18 months. I tried everything I could to reduce the cramps and minimize blood flow. I ate a healthy diet, exercised regularly, and became best friends with my heating pad. But in the end, it wasn't worth the hassle, and I simply decided I couldn't live in that much pain anymore. It was a tough choice, because the IUD was pretty much my only option for contraception other than using condoms, but I had it removed.
That being said, Dr. Dweck points out that there are some great benefits to the Paragard IUD. "It has a really good place for people who are unable to tolerate hormones, like breast cancer survivors or someone with a blood clotting disorder," she told POPSUGAR. Additionally, it's a 10-year IUD, which is the longest form of reversible birth control you can get.
It's also extremely effective when used as "postcoital contraception." In other words, if you have unprotected sex and you're not on birth control, you can have the IUD inserted right after in order to prevent unplanned pregnancy, sort of like the Plan B pill. But Dr. Dweck said the Paragard IUD is more useful than Plan B in these scenarios, because "Plan B and a lot of other oral morning after pills may not be as effective in women who are really overweight," she told POPSUGAR.
If you're considering an IUD and you don't have an issue with hormones, Dr. Dweck recommends the Skyla or Kyleena IUDs. "[They're] specifically designed for women who have never had kids," she said, and they're a bit smaller than the Paragard, so they will likely cause less pain.

The Way Prince Charles and Camilla Met Was Pretty Common - With a Twist
Image Source: Getty / Karwai Tang
Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles's highly publicized, scandal-filled relationship began how most do: at a party. In 1971, Charles and Camilla, then Camilla Shand, were introduced at a mutual friend's event by none other than Charles's college girlfriend, Lucia Santa Cruz. Lucia, the daughter of the former Chilean ambassador to London, was said to have carried on a brief but passionate romance with Charles while he was studying at Cambridge University years earlier and insisted that she had "just the girl" for the prince before hooking him up with Camilla.
While chatting at the party, they soon discovered a shared love of polo and being outdoors, and Camilla reportedly made a joke about her great-grandmother Alice Keppel having had an affair with King Edward VIII, telling Charles, "My great-grandmother was the mistress of your great-great-grandfather. I feel we have something in common." The two began dating almost immediately, meeting at polo matches at Windsor Great Park, where Charles often played - but the two split right before the prince left for the Royal Navy. When he got back eight months later, Camilla was engaged to Army officer Andrew Parker Bowles.

Camilla and Andrew tied the knot in 1973, and though the two stayed close, Charles began a relationship with 18-year-old Diana Spencer in 1980 (after dating her sister first, of course). He popped the question after only 12 dates, and even though the two were married in 1981, Diana had suspicions that Charles and Camilla had rekindled their romance behind her back - and the fact that Camilla was in attendance at their wedding didn't exactly quell those fears. And to celebrate the nuptials, Charles decided to buy gifts for a dozen of his close friends, including Camilla; he bought her "a gold bracelet personalized with a blue enamel disk engraved with the initials 'GF.' The monogram stood for 'Girl Friday,'" Charles's nickname for her.
By 1986, Charles and Camilla's affair had hit a fever pitch, and in 1989, Diana famously confronted her husband's mistress at a 40th birthday party for Camilla's sister, of all places. Despite her brazen attempts at getting Camilla to back off, Diana and Charles's marriage continued to falter - and by 1992, they had officially separated. In a televised BBC interview three years later Diana made the infamous statement, "There were three of us in this marriage, so it was a bit crowded." Shortly after, Queen Elizabeth II ordered Charles and Diana's divorce, and what was done was done. Diana tragically passed away in August 1997, and Charles and Camilla quietly continued their romance. The queen believed they should go public, so they formalized their relationship by attending Camilla's sister's 50th birthday party together in 1999. Elizabeth gave Charles and Camilla permission to marry in 2005, and during a speech at their wedding reception said, "My son is home and dry with the woman he loves."

What This Sweet Dad Is Doing For His Son Who Loves Makeup
Makeup is a form of artistic self-expression, and like art, there are no boundaries for who can participate, be it a girl or boy.
If you love something, do it.
At least that's the motto for one family. In a heartwarming blog post, "Real Dads Let Their Sons Do Their Makeup," one father opened up about his youngest son C.J.'s passion for makeup and even lets C.J. practice his skills on him.
"A couple of years ago, C.J. asked if I would allow him to do my makeup. Of course I said yes," wrote the dad. "Why wouldn't I? Why wouldn't I want to be a part of something that brings joy to my son's life?"
The rock-star father even shared photos from their playtime when C.J. had all his eye shadows and lipsticks out, ready to give his father a glamorous makeover. Apparently, C.J. knows exactly what shadows will bring out his dad's baby-blue eyes. Though the dad admits he personally has no interest in beauty or fashion, if that's what his son loves, he will participate because it's about respecting his child's interests. And instead of discouraging C.J.'s feminine side, the whole family has chosen to embrace it, with the mom even writing a book on raising a non-gender-conforming child.
"My son doing my makeup is the same as a dad throwing a football with his son. It's not about what you are doing together; it's about doing it together," he said. "It's about encouraging your children to engage with you. It's about spending time with your child doing something they enjoy doing."
The dad acknowledged that one day C.J. may have a career as a makeup artist . . . or, as we're hoping, his very own beauty vlog.

Why It's Crucial That You Reveal Your Salary to Your Work Besties
Talking about money is hard. For a variety of reasons, women especially struggle with discussing finances, even though we're far more open than men about just about everything else - including our sex lives.
Yet money discussions are far more important, one could reason, than discussing that weird thing our partners do in bed.
I learned this recently. I had started practicing money transparency in my personal life after a particularly difficult year living on my own in New York. I was barely making rent on a $42,000 salary, and I was surprised. I started sharing my salary in an effort to figure out if I was just bad with money or if my peers were making significantly more than I was. It turned out to be a mix of the two, as well as a sprinkling of peers who had previously received quite a bit of cash from their parents over the years.
The importance of talking about your salary with coworkers became clear to me soon after I left my first job, when I shared with a former coworker what I had been making when I left the company. Turned out, she had been working there longer than I had, but she was making less than I had been.
We were both shocked. We had the same amount of schooling, were covering similar beats, and are both of the same race.
It was puzzling, to say the least. But this discovery led my friend to reconsider asking for a raise, especially given that I had asked for - and received - one when I was working at the company. Even though I wasn't the person who directly benefited from this discussion, per se, I learned that it's important to be transparent about your salary with your peers at work.
It's not just something that's fair to know - when you share your salary with others, you can actually help to bridge the wage gap. How? Your knowledge may help others in your workplace finally drum up the courage to ask for a raise, edging their pay closer to that of their male colleagues.
Research suggests that this isn't just good for individual workers, it can benefit companies as well. A recent study published in the Journal of Business and Psychology found a positive correlation between pay transparency and help-seeking behavior. In other words, knowing how much money their peers were making made employees want to get better at their jobs.
This is a breakthrough in industry research, according to the study's abstract, because it shifts the focus away from fairness and onto worker productivity. Translation: pay transparency is not only good for employees - it's also good for employers.
How Being a First-Generation American Latina Challenges the Way I Define Myself
I notice my shared cultures the most when I'm sitting at the kitchen table. I'm surrounded by women who put their families first, in a way that I genuinely do hope to channel one day, but I also have very little interest in cooking, cleaning, running errands, and more for a big family.
I'm in a relationship with a guy I love and would do anything for, who also happens to be as much of a feminist as I am. I'm building a career inside the walls of an apartment in a very different way than the women in my family have. I see the value in all they've done and that they've enjoyed every moment of it, but walking that line between two cultures (my family is from Ecuador, but I was born in the US) means that while I can understand and sympathize, it'd be close to impossible for them to do the same. Because to them, bucking tradition and doing what feels right to me as a person (versus what would make my entire family feel right) is wrong.
I am consistently teetering between wanting things in my personal life and reminding myself that I don't need to apologize just because it's different than what other women in my family have wanted. I'm different, and different isn't synonymous with wrong.
Growing up as a first-generation Ecuadorian-American means that I was an adult before I was of legal age. I had to take my grandmother to doctor's appointments because I needed to translate. I had to get myself through school applications because there was no point of reference. I'm a hodgepodge of firsts, and sometimes those firsts are an act of resistance.
I love the traditions I was raised in, that I can tell you which saint can help you find your keys, and that food is the pillar of any household. I know my way around how family is a loose term for anyone you love and feel protective over, not just actual blood relatives. But the truth is that I don't fit into the molds that are set before me - being first-generation American-Latina means learning to be OK with the fact that I'm creating my own path.
It's revolutionary and anxiety-inducing. It's knowing that I'm doing what's right and understanding that it may not be a popular opinion, sometimes with my family, sometimes with those around me. It's wanting my boyfriend to learn Spanish so he can appreciate songs that played as intros of novelas and it's also knowing that I'm going to live with him way before we get married.
Living between two cultures means that I know the nooks and crannies of traditions that I deeply appreciate, and it also means that I'm in this to create some new ones of my own.
T-Rex Hands Is the Bizarre Selfie Pose You Didn't Even Notice
It feels like every day a new posing hack hits the web and convinces us to step up our selfie game. Thanks to the Kardashians, we've mastered the art of "duck lips." And recently, a variety of other bizarre, selfie-enhancing techniques including squinching and fish gaping have joined the famous expression.
Now there's yet another new pose taking over Instagram called "T-rex hands." Beauty maven Huda Kattan coined the term and shared that it's basically the (calculated but slightly random) placement of your hand anywhere on your face. Your fingers should have a subtle, relaxed curve to resemble the clutch of a Tyrannosaurus rex while still keeping it classy.
We perused Instagram for some snaps of our favorite celebrities flashing their T-rex hands- and it turns out, pretty much everyone is doing it. Read on for Huda's hilarious explanation of the technique, and practice with your own paws during your next selfie session. It's always a great way to show off your nail art!

Study Finds Employees Who (Sometimes) Work Remotely Are Most Engaged
The following post was originally featured on Fairygodboss.
Whether you value face time at the office or encourage virtual meetings over Slack or Skype, the trend toward working remotely - at least sometimes - is here to stay. According to Gallup's State of the American Workplace report, the percentage of employees who work from home at least part of the time rose from 39 percent in 2012 to 43 percent in 2016.
Those who work off-site are also spending an increasing amount of time working remotely, and the amount of employees who only work remotely is on the rise as well; according to The Wall Street Journal, which analyzed Gallup's data, 20 percent of US employees worked entirely remotely in 2016 (up from 15 percent in 2012).
No matter your preference, you should at least understand why the workforce is shifting in this direction, and, most importantly, have a sense what it might mean for your company.
Many employers are embracing this movement; Amazon is creating thousands of work-from-home jobs and Dell announced in 2013 that it wanted to have 50 percent of its workforce be at least partially remote by 2020. IBM, on the other hand, a company that was once known for its encouragement of remote work, has made a noteworthy decision that bringing employees back into the office is the right move in order to boost collaboration and efficiency.
While IBM has contended that having employees work from home doesn't save money, other employers have come to the opposite conclusion. In fact, TheSquareFoot, a company that helps employers find office space, has calculated that employees who work from home may save their companies up to $14,800 a year. Companies also say having flexibility policies in place helps them to recruit and retain top talent.
Of course, as Christopher Mims writes in the Journal, "nearly every company that employs knowledge workers is still learning which jobs can best be done remotely, as the tools to accomplish remote work become increasingly powerful." Moreover, "making the transition in a big company isn't easy, Dell's [chief human resources officer Steve] Price says. What is absolutely essential is getting everyone the right tools. This can be expensive and time consuming, even for companies whose primary purpose is building those tools."
Mims points out that Automattic, the company that makes the popular content-management system WordPress, has almost always had almost all of its employees work remotely (currently they have 558 workers spread across more than 50 countries, up from 302 employees two and a half years ago.) Even though the company has grown, it's ditching its 14,250-square-foot office in San Francisco because so few employees occupy the space (which includes largely unused ping-pong and foosball tables).
"With teams that may be spread across a dozen time zones, Automattic relies on Slack for synchronous communication, Zoom for weekly video conferences and its own internal system of threaded conversations for documenting everyone's work and for major decisions," Mims says. "When everyone is forced to communicate through these tools, no one is left out," says Mark Armstrong, whose site, Longreads, was acquired by Automattic in 2014. "Everyone knows that feeling where you're the one on the conference call and everyone else is in the room together," he says.
Mims also quotes Automattic's "happiness engineer" Julia Amasova, who says that having a remote workforce is beneficial because it increases transparency. "Most of the meetings were held behind closed doors at other places I worked at," she explains. "I didn't have the same feeling of unity and inclusion."
Of course, having all employees work from home 100% of the time is not practical for most businesses, and there's no question that a team can benefit from the kind of collaboration that results from working in the same physical space.
Still, the trend toward more flexibility is persisting - and we know that it's something women value highly. In fact, for many of the women Fairygodboss speaks to, the ability to sometimes work from home or to have a flexible schedule is a top priority, or sometimes even a necessity (which is why we've created a Work-Life Balance Guide that helps women discover which employers are offering part-time jobs, flexible working policies and telecommuting positions).
It seems the answer lies in finding a balance that works best for both your company and employees. That balance will differ depending on your company's function, size, and current set up, and Gallup's report - which shows that engagement does increase when employees spend part of their time working remotely and part of their time working alongside their colleagues - reveals that "the optimal engagement boost occurs when employees spend 60 percent to less than 80 percent of their workweek - or three to four days - working off-site."
These findings are quite different from what Gallup discovered in 2012. At that time, they reported that "the optimal engagement boost occurred when employees spent less than 20 percent of their time working remotely."
Given this shift, it's more important than ever to consider whether your company could benefit from encouraging more employees to work remotely more frequently.
The Genius Reason You Should Take a Photo of Your Stove Before You Travel
When I leave for vacation, I check all of the doors. And the windows. About 17 times. I then make sure each knob on the stove is turned to "off" and start the whole process over again just for good measure. Still, inevitably, I will be thousands of miles from home, wake up in the middle of the night, and know without a doubt that I left a burner on and my house (along with my cat) is doomed.
This fear is definitely not uncommon, but luckily, there's a very simple hack that will change the way you travel forever. Instead of wondering hours or days later if you left the oven on, take a photo of the knobs in the "off" position before you leave! Then you can quiet your anxieties by simply opening up your images - no matter where you are in the world, you'll have photo evidence that you did, in fact, turn the stove off. Lifehacker shared this genius hack, and it's so simple but something I've never thought to do!
If you're generally worried about your appliances being left on, take photos not just of your stove, but of your unplugged straightener, you're deadbolt turned the right direction (burglars won't be able to waltz on in!), thermostat (you didn't leave the A/C running!), your unlit candle (no fires!), etc. That gallery of images will give you peace of mind wherever you are so that you can truly enjoy your travels.

The Hidden Rainbow Roots Trend Is Mesmerizing
Creating hidden rainbow roots is a glorious new trend that basically updates the concept of "business in the front, party in the back."
Hair stylist Brittnie Garcia recently shared her take on rainbow hair on her Instagram account, and we're pretty obsessed. You may remember the rainbow roots trend from several months ago. This technique differs in that instead of abruptly stopping (almost creating a colorblock effect), this style sneakily conceals the dye throughout the strands. It allows for people to rock a more traditional hue and technicolor tresses simultaneously. The visibility of the rainbow portion depends on the movement of your hair and how much of it you want dyed.
Look ahead for some pictures of this innovative hair trend and prepare to start seeing it everywhere.
When to Stash or Trash Important Papers
Some of us are pack rats by default; we don't know how long to keep what we think are important documents, so we store them in boxes indefinitely. Clueless clutter makes it difficult to find something when you actually need to reference it. Stop storing trash, and get organized when you learn how long you should hold onto certain papers.

6 Tips For Easing Back Into Work After Vacation
It's always overwhelming when you come back into the office from vacation. Your email inbox looks like something exploded in it, and the endless meetings seem to keep popping up in your calendar alerts. How in the world can you transition back from vacay bliss to the daily grind? Here are some tips to having a stress-free first day at the office when you're back from vacation:
Get in earlier
If you're not too tired, then go into work an hour earlier to get a headstart on catching up on what you've missed. You'll probably want some quiet time before fellow coworkers come in and start asking you about your holiday or requesting you to do certain things, so try to get in before they do so you won't feel overwhelmed.
Write a to-do list
One of the first things you should do when you come back from a trip is to draft a to-do list for the day. You will probably have a million tasks to do, so note them down and figure out which ones you should prioritize. You'll feel better once you start crossing each one off.
Deal with your emails
It's time to tackle the mountain of emails that have been piling up in your absence! Don't try to respond to them all at once, because it might be overwhelming. Delete the ones you don't need, mark the ones you need to respond to later in the day, and reply to urgent emails that need an immediate response.
Review projects
While you were absent, the office probably continued to chug along without you. Check on how the projects you're working on are doing and if there are any new developments. If someone was covering for you in your absence, then review what they've done. If necessary, make a note to give them feedback.
Check in with your boss and coworkers
Check in with your boss and coworkers as a courtesy to let them know you're back. Ask them if there are any new developments that you should be aware of.
Take it slow
The first day should be spent doing regular job duties as well as catching up on what you've missed. Try to refrain from taking on new tasks and projects on your first day back so that you're not putting too much on your plate.
Getting Robbed at Gun Point Was Apparently a Walk in the Park For This Jimmy John's Employee
Sometimes, life hands you a bad day and you need to just let it ride out. That's how one Jimmy John's employee seemingly approached a robbery at gunpoint as he stoically handed the gunman money from the register.
The robbery took place at a Jimmy John's in Kansas City, MO, on April 26 at 9:15 p.m. In a video uploaded to YouTube by the Kansas City Police Department, the suspect, wearing a blue hoodie, enters the store and orders an item. As the cashier tells him his total, the suspect pulls out a gun. The Jimmy John's employee then takes off his gloves, hands him all the money, and even tries to give him the drawer with all the change. You can watch the encounter ahead.
The video quickly went viral on the internet, with some people on Twitter noting that the gun looks like it was jammed and that's why the cashier was so chill. According to the Kansas City Police YouTube page, police have the suspect in custody and they wrote, "Investigation is continuing." We hope the cashier and anyone else working during the robbery are home safe and sincerely OK.

WTF: A Woman Was Denied a Second Job Interview For Asking This Question
On Monday, March 13, Taylor Byrnes tweeted screenshots of the response she received from SkiptheDishes after asking about pay and benefits following her first interview at the food delivery service in Winnipeg, Canada. "Applied for a job at @SkipTheDishes. They cancelled my interview b/c I asked about wages/benefits," she wrote in a now-viral tweet.

- . (@feministjourney) March 13, 2017
"Hi Victoria, I had another question that I wanted to ask you," Byrnes's initial email reads. "If I do end up filling this position, how much do you think I'll be getting paid an hour? Benefits will also be included, right? Sorry, I just thought I should ask now. Thanks for your time and have a lovely day," she concluded.
Screenshots show that Victoria responded, "Hello Taylor, your questions reveal that your priorities are not in sync with those of SkipTheDishes. At this time we will not be following through with our meeting this Thursday." In a follow-up email, Victoria called out qualities the company looks for in employees, including "hard work and perseverance in pursuit of company goals as opposed to focusing on compensation."
"For these reasons, questions about compensation and benefits at such an early stage is a concern related to organizational fit."
After the screenshots were posted and shared across social media, Byrnes received yet another response from the company, this time from its cofounder, who expressed disappointment with the way the situation was handled. The company also shared its screenshots on its Twitter page to rectify the backlash from people who were calling for a boycott of SkipTheDishes.

- SkipTheDishes (@SkipTheDishes) March 14, 2017
SkipTheDishes cofounder Joshua Simair addressed the controversy in an emailed statement to POPSUGAR, writing, "We are very disappointed in how it was handled. We do share a compensation package prior to hiring. As soon as we became aware of it on Monday, we reached out to Taylor to apologize for the email and reschedule her interview."
Simair also revealed that the company would be changing internal policies to make sure it doesn't happen again. "We've also addressed the email internally and will be providing additional training. We are very committed to our community, employees and continuing to grow and create employment opportunities in the Prairies."
Although Byrnes has received an outpouring of support for standing up for herself, there is still a dispute over whether or not her questions were appropriate to ask. Seeing as it's important for women to ask about pay upfront so that they get what they deserve, we'd say the answer is yes.
We've reached out to Byrnes for comment and will update this story if we hear back.
This Awesome Bride Made Her Entire Wedding Match Her Rainbow Hair
Though the rainbow hair trend has largely conquered the world by now, there's one occasion that many women choose to revert to their natural hair color: their wedding day. While we understand that some ladies might prefer that those all-important photos look a little more timeless, we also believe you should feel confident in displaying your personality on your big day. San Diego-based artist Taylor Ann did just that. She opted to celebrate her nuptials while rocking her signature colorful strands, all woven into a beautiful, intricate braid that cascaded into a ponytail.
But she really bucked tradition by going one step further. She incorporated the hues of her ombré magenta, orange, blue, and purple mane into practically every detail of her wedding! Her dress was dip-dyed with the colors, and her eye makeup, decorations, flower arrangements, and bridesmaids' gowns all featured Taylor Ann's jewel tones. Thankfully, James Tang of James Tang Photography was on hand to capture every vibrant moment. Read on and prepare to be mesmerized.
An Evil Genius Swapped Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un's Hair and We Can't Look Away
President Donald Trump and North Korea's Kim Jong-un may be dominating the news right now with a looming threat of all-out war, but it certainly isn't keeping the internet from poking a bit of fun at the two superpowerful men. And if the above photo is any indication, the games have just begun.
A Reddit user posted a diptych of Trump and Jong-un with their hair meticulously swapped on Aug. 10, coinciding with the publication of French magazine Libération's take on the very same idea, and it features an outstandingly blond, Trump-ified version of the North Korean leader. The emergence of these memes is in line with a larger trend of face swapping and hair swapping the men and women we see on TV all the time, which began in earnest in the lead-up to the 2012 election and has evolved as the years have progressed. Here, we see the natural evolution of the swap: making everyone - and everything - look like our wispy-haired, strangely-colored president.
It's only a matter of time before we get a Trump face swap Snapchat filter, but until then, you can work your own magic online in the Trump's Hair tool. And if you're anything like us, you'll be gazing at this downright terrifying yet unbearably fascinating photo all day long.
