The 3 Changes Ricki Made to Deal With Grief and Transform Her Mind and Body

Ricki Friedman was hesitant to share her transformation photos. "I didn't want to make this just about a physical transformation," she told POPSUGAR. "Sharing this is scary!" But she decided to tell her story in the hopes that it may help someone else dealing with the loss of a loved one or with body acceptance issues.

Ricki's own journey with her body began when she was just 13 years old and she lost her mother to cancer. She felt deeply depressed, empty, and isolated. "It profoundly affected the way I felt about myself," she recalled. "I was too young to process what had happened to me, so instead of grieving for my mother, I decided to control what I could by controlling my weight."

"I threw myself into the world of 'diet and exercise,' because it was so much easier to say 'I'm fat' and focus on that than it was to say 'I'm in pain and this grief is overwhelming.'"

"I started changing my relationship with food once I started changing my relationship with grief."

Ricki said, "I felt so uncomfortable all the time in my skin and always felt 'heavy.'" She said she was obsessed with her weight and lived by the number on the scale. "I felt like if I was skinny and strong, then I would be happy too." She spent hours working out and she said her whole day revolved around when and what she was eating. "I thought that if I felt 'physically' lighter, then I wouldn't be in so much pain from the grief," she told POPSUGAR. "I put all my focus onto what I looked like and it controlled my every thought."

She tried countless diets and workout programs. Why? "So I could try and fix the physical part of me in hopes that it would take care of the emotional one."

Eight years ago, when she was 22 years old, she went to therapy and started talking about her mother's death. That's when her mindset shifted. "The more I talked about it, the more I connected to WHY I had so many unhealthy habits."

In 2012, Ricki built herself a really simple daily system of movement, accountability, and support. "I started changing my relationship with food once I started changing my relationship with grief. I looked at what was 'weighing' me down in my life."

She began by making small changes to her daily habits. "I made a promise to do three things every day."

  • Walk 10,000 steps
  • Track her daily food intake
  • Drink two liters of water

This daily system worked, and she saw her habits change and her life transforming. "The system allowed me to slow down and create real change instead of the quick fix I was always so used to," Ricki said. "I felt lighter physically (and mentally) by being mindful of what I was putting into my body and mind." She added, "I realized that food wasn't the issue, or my weight. It was really the heaviness from the grief I never dealt with and needed to heal."

Ricki: After

The before photo was from 2011, and after one year, she shed 10 pounds. But the number on the scale wasn't important to her. Ricki was excited that she was able to transform her relationship with food. It made all the difference because it's how she took back the power in her life. "I no longer felt controlled by diet, weight, or my body. I was in the driver's seat now," she shared. "I taught myself how to change my mindset and step into a more positive space."

Today Ricki lives a lifestyle that allows her to both indulge and feel good as a whole, and now she's helping others transform their lives. "I know it's never just about the weight when it comes to the heaviness in our lives," she said, and that's the mission behind the program she founded called Break the Weight.

Based on the system that worked for her own life, she's now showing others how to break what may be physically, mentally, and emotionally weighing them down and instead adopt healthy habits. It's truly inspiring that she was able to turn the grief of loss into something positive not only for her own life, but in a way that's affecting the lives of so many others.

This Is Us Finally Revealed Jack's Death, but That Wasn't Even the Big Twist

The much-anticipated but bummer event of This Is Us finally happened: Jack's tragic death, and the manner in which it happens, was finally addressed. For something so big, the series used its big post-Super Bowl slot to show it, but it also took the opportunity to go even bigger. This is This Is Us, and after revealing how Jack dies, the episode ends on a big twist: a flash-forward. Obviously, spoilers follow!

The whole episode sees the present-day Pearsons dealing with the 20th anniversary of Jack's death amid flashbacks to the sad day. Kate keeps rewatching the tape with her dad, Kevin visits his tree, and Randall is in a joyful mood, celebrating Super Bowl Sunday. Things go sideways when the new family pet gets out and squished (RIP Mr. McGiggles) and Tess retreats to her room, dejected. Randall has a heart-to-heart with her, where she admits to keeping the landline off its cradle because that's the line where the family would get calls to foster another child. Randall gets through to her and shares the kind of future he envisions for her, and Tess realizes that what her parents are doing as foster parents is actually great.

Then comes the big twist: the cutie-pie boy being prepped by a social worker during the episode is actually not the new foster kid coming to live with the family (that's Deja!): the social worker is Tess in the future.

We're tipped off when the young boy meets a couple we've never met - and then older Randall (Sterling K. Brown, you're rocking that aging makeup) shows up to meet Tess for lunch. Clearly, Randall's words that day touched her so much that Tess pursues a career working in foster care. It's a beautiful twist given her family's and father's experience, but it means much more than that in terms of the show. First of all, it's an homage to the pilot, where you meet Randall, Kate, Kevin, Rebecca, and Jack but have no idea the timelines are 36 years apart until the final scene in the hospital, when its 1980s setting is revealed.

But more important is what this sets up for the future of the series: we've just opened a door to see the lives of future Randall, Kate, and Kevin. Will the rest of the season explore more of this? Will it be saved for the next season? And what other reveals will the flash-forwards have in store for us? It's actually a pretty exciting thing to explore with so much potential . . . plus we can't wait to see how everyone in the cast looks aged up!

The Internet Could Not Handle Justin Timberlake's LII(T) Halftime Show

Oh yes he did! Justin Timberlake had the crowd on their feet with his electrifying halftime show during Sunday night's Super Bowl. Although the singer joked that it was a "lazy Sunday" on Instagram hours before the game, Justin's dance moves and vocals were anything but that.

Following the criticism and slew of rumors claiming Justin would perform alongside a Prince hologram to honor the late singer's hometown of Minneapolis, MN, the Man of the Woods singer simply had a projector that colored the stadium purple while he sang "I Would Die 4 U." Read on for some of the best reactions to Justin's LII(T) halftime performance.

How Does The Cloverfield Paradox Connect to the Rest of the Series? Let's Untangle This

Minor spoilers for The Cloverfield Paradox below!

You really have to hand it to Cloverfield - with each new film that joins the J.J. Abrams-produced sci-fi series, we're consistently left with our jaws on the floor.

The first entry into the series, 2008's Cloverfield, is your standard found-footage monster movie, while its sequel, 2016's 10 Cloverfield Lane, is a tense isolation thriller that only connects to its predecessor in the final moments. The Cloverfield Paradox, which is now streaming on Netflix and was announced during the Super Bowl only hours before its release, is also a part of this universe; rather than taking the story another step forward, however, the Julius Onah-directed addition to the franchise rewinds the clock and throws us yet another tonal curve ball.

Rather than a low-tech found-footage affair or a claustrophobic cat-and-mouse game, this is a full-on deep space thriller akin to Alien or the recent Life. Most of the magnetic cast - which includes Daniel Brühl, Elizabeth Debicki, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Chris O'Dowd, David Oyelowo, and more - play a team of scientists aboard an international space station. With a devastating energy crisis threatening to throw the Earth into chaos, the team is attempting to experiment with a particle accelerator up in space in order to find a new source of renewable energy and save the planet. The story shifts between Mbatha-Raw's Ava Hamilton, a communications specialist on the ship, and her husband, Michael (Roger Davies), a doctor who stayed behind.

After a few years up in space and countless failed experiments under their belts, the team finally has a breakthrough, but it comes at a grave cost. The particle accelerator overloads and smashes their dimension into another, creating a whole bunch of problems. Not only does some truly bizarre sh*t start happening on the ship - someone's arm disappears, a mysterious woman is found impaled within the walls - but it's not much better back home on Earth. It turns out that the astronauts who were sent into space to solve the planet's energy problem are the ones who inadvertently unleash the monsters that we see in Cloverfield (we get to briefly relive their terror through Michael). When the accelerator malfunctions, it essentially tears open the fabric of our reality, and some deadly, city-smashing creatures come crawling through.

So, without spoiling things any further, The Cloverfield Paradox is the start of it all. The previous two films are merely terrifying glimpses into the deeply unfortunate side effect of their well-meaning experiment. If you still haven't watched the movie for yourself, though, you really should; the last few seconds will punch you right in the gut.

The Cloverfield Paradox is now streaming on Netflix.

Bradley Cooper Forgot His Bullhorn at Home, Is Still the Loudest Eagles Fan at the Super Bowl

Bradley Cooper may have portrayed a struggling Philadelphia Eagles fan in the 2012 film Silver Linings Playbook, but during Sunday night's Super Bowl, he was absolutely not acting. The 43-year-old Philadelphia native attended the big game in Minnesota, where his facial expressions did all the talking, even without a garbage bag.

Bradley is a huge Eagles fan, and when the team was up during halftime, he was screaming louder than any cheerleader on the field (we assume). He had the best seats in the house, watching the game alongside the Eagles' owner. Let's just hope the team can keep the lead, because no one wants to see him frown.

This Is Us Fans Are All in Their Feelings After the Shocking Reveal of Jack's Death

How are you holding up, This Is Us fans? After what seemed like an eternity of waiting to find out how Jack dies, all of our questions were answered during the Super Bowl episode on Sunday. While the Pearson patriarch didn't perish in the fire like we originally thought he would, it does play a crucial role in his death. After inhaling too much smoke during the house fire, Jack eventually goes into cardiac arrest in the hospital.

After the devastating reveal, it didn't take long for fans to share their thoughts and feelings on social media. Some took a moment to remember one of the best dads on television, while others googled if they could take bereavement leave for a fictional character. Seriously, where is that excuse note now, Milo Ventimiglia? And if you didn't get enough sobbing in during the episode, don't fret. Since This Is Us loves to play with our emotions, we get to bawl our eyes out all over again on Tuesday when the episode "Across the Border" airs.

Jack's Death on This Is Us Is Devastating, but Here's Why It's Also Perfect

After nearly two full seasons of waiting, This Is Us finally answers the question of how Jack dies, and it seems that all of the intricate fan theories were wrong.

Jack doesn't go out in a blaze of glory or end up in an extended coma. Jack actually survives the fire, but after going to the hospital for what the family believes is nothing more than a minor burn, he dies suddenly of a massive heart attack brought on by the stress of the smoke on his lungs. The scene occurs off camera, a tragedy unfolding behind Rebecca as she stands in front of a snack machine trying to pick out something Jack will like when the only options are chocolate (it seems Jack did have one tiny flaw after all).

It's devastating, but understated - it's perfectly This Is Us. And yes, it was worth the excruciating wait, not because anyone in the audience actually wanted to see Jack die, but because the answer to what happens to Jack Pearson feels like the final piece of the puzzle that shapes this family's present sliding into place.

It's a great credit to the show that the writers didn't resort to a "gotcha moment." After Jack escapes the fire with a burn and smoke inhalation, fans had to be wondering if the series was about to come up with some new wrinkle in the ongoing saga of Jack's death. Instead, Jack's final moments are calm. He watches the last minutes of the big game and teases Rebecca - if he knows that something isn't quite right, he never lets on. In true Jack fashion, he's heroic and strong until the bitter end. His inevitable death isn't drawn out, and there are no big goodbyes; the whole thing is realistic in its futility, which only makes it hurt so much more.

Going into the Super Bowl episode, This Is Us promised viewers the outing would break their hearts, and it most definitely did. Having the heartbreak come from something as devastatingly simple and unexpected as a heart attack in a moment when it seems as if the family might come out of the fire unscathed is brilliantly poignant.

No matter how much the show's team has enjoyed doling out clues to the mystery surrounding Jack's death, This Is Us remains a grounded series about how the past, present, and future shape who the Pearsons are and who they're going to become. Jack's life and death are a vital part of their story, and having his end be so sudden explains so much about why Kate, Kevin, and Randall have chosen their respective paths as adults.

Even after the fire, the Big Three don't expect to lose their father that day. As Randall explains to a group of kids at an inopportune moment, a sudden loss leaves a person haunted in ways they can't possibly anticipate. The ache is constant, and even now it lingers for every member of the Pearson family, as evidenced by Rebecca's ritual of making Jack's favorite lasagna, Kate's obsessive rewatching of the recital video her father saves from the fire, and Randall's desire to celebrate his dad's favorite day of the year even though deep down it breaks his heart.

It seems morbid to say Jack's death was worth the wait, but the payoff to the buildup certainly was. After all the hype, it would have been so easy for This Is Us to fumble the Super Bowl episode. Instead, the series delivered its most tear-jerking and relatable episode yet by once again tapping into the most haunting parts of losing a loved one unexpectedly.

But most of all, the show does right by the great Jack Pearson, and it finally gave the fans a chance to properly mourn one of TV's greatest dads.

We Finally Know How Jack Dies on This Is Us, and It's Sadder Than We Could Have Imagined

Warning: major spoilers for This Is Us ahead.

This Is Us has been full of shocking and emotional twists, but none of them compare to the devastating episode "Super Bowl Sunday." After months of teasing (and countless fan theories), we finally know once and for all how Jack Pearson dies, and it will break your heart.

After Jack manages to save Rebecca, Randall, and Kate from the house fire, he goes back in to save Kate's dog. As the bedroom window goes up in flames, it seems like Jack might actually die in the house fire after all, but since this is This Is Us, they don't let us off that easy. Just at the last minute, Jack comes bursting through the front door, like the hero he is, with Kate's precious dog.

While the rest of the family manages to get out unscathed, Jack suffers from second-degree burns and smoke inhalation from the fire. So, after dropping Kate and Randall off at Miguel's house, Rebecca takes Jack to the ER to get treated. As they sit together in his hospital room, they share a heartfelt moment when they realize they're in the same hospital where they first welcomed the Big Three.

For a short moment, it seems like Jack might actually be OK, but that's when the real trouble starts. As Rebecca uses the pay phone to call Miguel and check up on the kids, chaos ensues behind her as nurses and doctors rush into a hospital room. Unbeknownst to Rebecca, they are actually treating Jack. As she grabs a candy bar from the vending machine, the doctor promptly tells her the heartbreaking news: Jack has died.

As the doctor explains, the smoke in his lungs caused stress on his heart, and he suddenly went into cardiac arrest - a widowmaker heart attack. At first, Rebecca doesn't believe the doctor and gets upset that he has confused her with another patient. But once she finally steps into the hospital room and sees Jack lying lifeless on the bed, she breaks down in tears, and honestly, so did we.

Unlike William's death last season, Jack's death wasn't some big, emotional, drawn-out scene (it actually happened off screen, for that matter). But honestly, that made it even more devastating. It was quick, it was sudden, and above all else, it was incredibly real. Sometimes life comes at you in a moment and you have to deal with it the best you can, much like Rebecca does raising three kids on her own. Now that we finally know how the Pearson patriarch passes away, maybe this will give us even more insight into why the Big Three are the people they are today.

Pink's Biggest Super Bowl Cheerleaders Are Carey Hart and Daughter Willow

Despite being sick with the flu, Pink kicked off Sunday's Super Bowl with a chill-inducing performance of the national anthem, and you better believe her family was there to support her. Pink's husband, Carey Hart, and their 6-year-old daughter, Willow, were front and center at the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, MN, cheering her on and snapping photos from the sidelines. Prior to taking the stage, the Pennsylvania native also shared Instagram photos of herself getting ready for her performance with her 1-year-old son, Jameson. "Here we go!" she captioned one of the snaps. Honestly, could this family be any cuter?

The Pictures From Justin Timberlake's Super Bowl Performance Deserve Their Own Standing Ovation

Justin Timberlake took the Super Bowl by storm with a high-energy halftime show performance on Sunday. The singer - whose fifth studio album, Man of the Woods, was released on Feb. 2 - ran through a handful of his biggest hits, including "SexyBack," "Rock Your Body," and "Mirrors," as well as more recent bops like "Filthy" and "Can't Stop the Feeling."

In the days leading up to Justin's performance, it was rumored that he would be joined on stage by Janet Jackson and a Prince hologram. Justin did pay homage to the Purple One with a projection of the singer and a soulful duet of "I Would Die 4 U," during which the city of Minneapolis, MN, glowed purple. Keep reading to see all the best photos from Justin's night at the Super Bowl!

Presenting the Best Commercials From This Year's Super Bowl

The Real Story Behind Netflix's Surprisingly Crushing Comedy Biopic

Younger generations may not have heard of the humor magazine National Lampoon, but they are likely familiar with the works of its founder Doug Kenney, the genius behind comedy movies like Animal House and Caddyshack.

Although the magazine only ran from 1970 to 1998, its impact still remains strong today. The magazine touted some of the brightest comedic minds of its time, some of whom would eventually become early cast members of Saturday Night Live. With a star-studded cast of contemporary comedians, the new Netflix movie A Futile and Stupid Gesture pays homage to Kenney's turbulent and difficult life while he ran the humor magazine. National Lampoon's legacy continues to influence comedians today, even though Kenney passed away at the age of 33 in 1980.

The Harvard Lampoon

National Lampoon started as a spinoff of The Harvard Lampoon, an undergraduate humor magazine that began at Harvard University in 1876. During his time at Harvard, Kenney (played by Will Forte) wrote for The Harvard Lampoon with National Lampoon cofounders Henry Beard (played by Domhnall Gleeson) and Robert Hoffman.

Shortly after Kenney graduated in 1968, the three friends launched their idea for a national humor magazine. The first copy of the magazine was officially released in April 1970. National Lampoon grew its reputation with an edgy sense of humor that challenged what was considered proper and appropriate in the '70s. Each monthly copy included a range of content like long-form pieces, short pieces, actual news items, and cartoon strips. The "Foto Funnies" section of the magazine often included nudity in the form of photo comics. The magazine targeted most political groups and had no official stances, though its staff writers held strong political opinions.

National Lampoon Grows

National Lampoon grew quickly after its inception despite shaky beginnings, receiving national attention throughout most of the '70s for its satirical content. At its strongest moment, it peaked at a circulation of one million copies with its October 1974 "Pubescence" issue. The humor monthly expanded its reach in other media like film, print, radio, and stage performance. It's most renowned for the movie Animal House, a comedy about the escapades of a college fraternity.

National Lampoon Declines

Kenney, Beard, and Hoffman accepted a buyout clause in their contracts for $7.5 million in 1975. The magazine remained influential after the buyout, but during the same time, Beard left the company to pursue other writing interests, and a few other comedians like Bill Murray left for other ventures, most notably SNL. The magazine experienced leadership changes throughout the following two decades, which led to floundering finances and declining production. In November 1998, it released its final issue.

While it was in its most active period in the '70s, National Lampoon left an indelible mark on American comedy, encouraging future entertainers to challenge the status quo with parody and satire.

This Middle School's Reaction to Seeing Black Panther Will Restore Your Faith in Humanity

To say that people are excited for Black Panther would be an understatement - Marvel's upcoming superhero film, starring Chadwick Boseman and Lupita Nyong'o, isn't even in theaters yet and it's already smashing movie ticket presale records left and right. That being said, it's obvious that no one is more thrilled about seeing the legendary Black Panther in action than the students of Ron Clark Academy.

When the kids at the Atlanta middle school were told they'd all get to go see Black Panther together after a day spent learning about African culture, they immediately started cheering and dancing. If you don't tear up just a little bit while watching their unabashed, enthusiastic joy, I can only assume you were born without tear ducts.

"The students just found out we are all going to see BLACK PANTHER!" Wade King, a teacher and director of curriculum and instruction at Ron Clark, captioned the video of his students on Twitter. "We will have a day of cultural classes, African dancers, historical lessons, and then we will all go see the film! Turn up!!!!"

See what I mean? Happy tears all around.

King wasn't the only person from the school to share a video of the outburst of celebrations, either. Founder Ron Clark himself - whom you might have heard of given the school's previous viral videos and the $5 million donation they received from Oprah in 2017 - also posted footage of the kids' reaction to the exciting announcement.

If you didn't understand the phrase "representation matters" before, I hope you do now.

4 Facts About National Lampoon Cofounder Doug Kenney

A Futile and Stupid Gesture, an inside look at the life of Doug Kenney, made its debut on Netflix on Jan. 26. Doug, played by comedian Will Forte, was the cofounder of National Lampoon magazine and was responsible for changing the trajectory of humor on the big screen.

He was hailed as a comedic genius, carving out a permanent place for dark comedy and satire in the 1970s and 1980s in a way that still resonates today. As shown in the film, Kenney blazed the path for his contemporaries, many of whom eventually ended up on Saturday Night Live.

While you may not have been familiar with Kenney by name, you've definitely benefited from his legacy.

1. Doug cofounded National Lampoon in 1970.

While in college, he served as the editor of The Harvard Lampoon. Along with friends Henry Beard and Rob Hoffman, he was already writing parodies of other magazines and stories, such as Bored of the Rings, a spoof on the Lord of the Rings series.

After graduating, Kenney wanted to create something edgier that would be beyond the scope of The Harvard Lampoon - something no one had seen before. While National Lampoon had a rough start, it eventually found its footing and went on to have 800,000 in print circulation. It paved the way for many up-and-coming writers and humorists, especially as they began to later receive bigger writing opportunities from Hollywood studios, and while the magazine dissolved in 1998, its impact is inimitable.

2. He cowrote the hugely successful National Lampoon's Animal House.

Often praised for being one of the best comedy movies of all time, Animal House redefined the genre and legitimized the brand of comedy that Kenney and his friends worked hard to bring to the spotlight. The movie brought in more than $100 million, and Kenney even had a small role in the film as a frat brother named Stork.

3. He was engaged to actress Kathryn Walker.

His partner of five years, Kathryn Walker (played by Emmy Rossum in A Futile and Stupid Gesture), was last with him in Hawaii in 1980 before his death. Before her, Kenney had been married to a woman he knew in college but soon realized how incompatible they were and fled from their marriage.

4. Caddyshack was the last straw for him.

Doug spent years battling depression, as well as drug and alcohol problems. These issues often affected his involvement with National Lampoon and his other ventures.

After Caddyshack was panned by critics, he had reached his breaking point and created a scene during a press conference. Shortly after, his friend (and the film's star) Chevy Chase took him to Hawaii to get him away from the toxic environment and get the help he needed.

But when he and Doug's fiancée, Kathryn, were pulled away to work, Kenney wandered to Hanapepe Lookout and fell to his death from a cliff. Among project ideas and notes about Kathryn, Kenney left behind a note in his hotel room that said, "These last few days are among the happiest I've ever ignored."

Kylie Jenner gave birth to a baby girl on Feb. 1, and in an emotional 11-minute video detailing her pregnancy and labor, the 20-year-old also gave us a glimpse of her niece, Chicago West.

In the video, Kim places her baby girl - whom she and husband Kanye West welcomed via gestational carrier in January - in Kylie's arms. "I think we're gonna go with Chicago," Kim says when asked about her name, which was inspired by Kanye's hometown. Netflix Pulls a Beyoncé, Announces a New Cloverfield Movie Will Air After the Super Bowl

Let's all take a minute to appreciate how awesome Netflix is: not only is it bringing us another Cloverfield movie, but it's bringing it to us tonight. That's right - immediately after the Super Bowl, the third chapter in J.J. Abrams's sci-fi franchise, the Julius Onah-directed The Cloverfield Paradox, will hit the streaming network. Oh, and it has an incredible cast including Daniel Brühl, Elizabeth Debicki, Aksel Hennie, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Chris O'Dowd, David Oyelowo, and more.

Does it get any better? The move is a groundbreaking one as far as movie studios are concerned and completely unprecedented. When was the last time you watched a movie on the very same day the trailer was first released?

And speaking of the trailer, it looks certifiably creepy. In an Alien-like move, it looks like the film is set 10 years after the first monster devastated NYC in 2008's Cloverfield (and presumably after the sequel, 2016's 10 Cloverfield Lane) and is set on a space station. The team of astronauts aboard the ship will find out where, exactly, that monster came from as they fight for survival. Watch the trailer above to gear up for the film to start streaming!

This 3-Second Clip of Jeff Goldblum Will Make You SO Excited For Jurassic World's Sequel

Hold on to your butts, because Dr. Ian Malcolm is back. The famed scientist, played by the inimitable Jeff Goldblum, appeared in a snippet of behind-the-scenes footage for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom shared by the studio ahead of the sequel's big trailer premiere in December. He joins Bryce Dallas Howard and Chris Pratt for the movie and appears to be in a courtroom "talking about dinosaurs again." While it doesn't look like he actually goes to the island with the rest of the cast, we'll take whatever we can get.

The New Trailer For Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Will Have You Screaming Until It Hurts

After the high-heeled shenanigans that go down in Jurassic World, it's hard to imagine that Chris Pratt's or Bryce Dallas Howard's characters would willingly put themselves back in a situation with rogue dinosaurs. Alas, raptor-loving Owen and Claire have returned for the sequel, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. After the teaser and first official trailer (below) showed the group's questionable decision to return, the second full trailer, which aired during Sunday night's Super Bowl, is even more exhilarating. "The island was just the beginning," the clip is captioned on Facebook.

The J.A. Bayona-directed sequel, which also stars Justice Smith and sees the return of Jurassic Park legend Dr. Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum), follows Claire and Owen as they go back to the island that started it all to save the dinosaurs left behind from an exploding volcano. Will they succeed? And more importantly, will they survive? We'll just have to wait until its June 2018 release to find out.

Angelina Jolie had the unwavering support of two of her children while walking the red carpet at the 2018 Annie Awards in Los Angeles on Saturday night. The 42-year-old Oscar winner, who looked like a high-fashion princess in her silver Atelier Versace gown, brought 13-year-old Zahara and 11-year-old Shiloh Jolie-Pitt as her dates for the glamorous night out. Before heading inside to receive the award for best animated feature for the Oscar-nominated movie The Breadwinner, which she coproduced, Angelina and her daughters held hands and flashed big smiles in front of photographers. The UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador also struck a pose with The Breadwinner's director, Nora Twomey, and star, actress Saara Chaudry.

This certainly isn't the first time Angelina has turned a glitzy Hollywood event into a family affair. The First They Killed My Father director took her 14-year-old son, Pax, as her date to the Golden Globes in January, and back in September, she brought all six of her children - Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Knox and Vivienne - as her dates to the Toronto Film Festival. In the wake of her tumultuous split from estranged husband Brad Pitt, it's clear that Angelina is putting her children first. Read on to see more photos from her, Shiloh, and Zahara's fun night out!

44 Times Jessica Alba's Outfit Was No Match For a Long Plane Ride

Her sweatpants are not just plain and boring; they're cuffed, are fitted in all the right places, and have interesting designs. Her t-shirts are elevated with laid-back but stylish jackets and fun accessories like hats and fashionable sneakers. But even though that's the actress's preferred uniform when getting on a plane, she's not afraid to go above and beyond, wearing the occasional heel and leather jacket, too. Keep reading for all the times Jessica's travel style totally nailed it.

5 Incredible Products You Need to Try From Affordable Skincare Brand The Ordinary

Earlier this year, I was introduced to new cult-favorite brand, The Ordinary. The Canada-based brand comes from the company Deciem, which has an umbrella of skincare-based lines. All of them have one thing in common: they strive to create clinically clean products that don't contain harmful chemicals and which people can actually afford. I personally became obsessed with it when a friend recommended I try its popular Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 ($6). Sephora even just starting carrying the line, and it is already flying off the shelves.

If you're not sure what to buy, we rounded up a list of its bestselling products. From rich serums to silky-smooth foundations, these amazing products won't cost you a fortune because they're all under $12. Shop before they're gone!

I'm One of Those Girls Who Plucked Off All My Eyebrows - Here's How I Got Them Back

Some of you might be able to sympathize with this horror story: when I was in high school, it was cool to pluck off all your eyebrows. I was pretty much left with one tiny straight line that looked like I drew it on with a gel pen. At that time I felt really cool and thought I looked like Kate Moss, but eventually I realized it was a mistake. For years after, I always struggled to grow them back, which was even harder because I have extremely thin and light blond hair that was already sparse and barely showed up on my skin. Throughout the last 10 years, I've used dozens of different powders, pens, gels, and pencils, but nothing ever really looked natural or made me feel confident.

About two years ago, a coworker who had insanely long lashes told me she used this product to make her eyelashes grow longer. RevitaLash is a cosmetic formula developed to help improve flexibility, moisture, and shine while increasing the lushness of your lashes. Once my friend told me about this, a light bulb immediately went off in my head that maybe I could use this to grow my eyebrows. In less than 30 seconds, I was back at my desk researching the product and discovered that the brand also has a formula for your eyebrows: RevitaBrow ($58). I instantly purchased the serum with two-day shipping. I was excited.

A few days later, I received my RevitaBrow in the mail, and I was initially hesitant because I get freaked out using new products, especially on my face or around my eyes. But in this case, I was desperate for fuller brows and gave it a go. Within just two months, I noticed my eyebrows had definitely started growing, and by the time I hit six months, they were at a place I never knew I could get them. I do have to say because my hair is so fair that I don't see the full thickness of my eyebrows until I dye them (which I do on a monthly basis), but once they are my preferable darker shade, I can't believe that full thickness is actually mine!

I often get compliments on my eyebrow fullness, and it really means the world to me after all the struggles it took to achieve them. I still use a pencil every day because, like most people, I still get bald spots and like to create a fuller but still natural look. I don't use the product every day anymore, maybe just a few times a week when I remember. When I use it, I still see a difference when it comes to keeping up the fullness. Overall, this product is a huge win for me. Eyebrows really frame your face, and I can't express enough how much this product changed my brows.

This $19 Makeup Organizer Is Amazon's Bestseller - It's the Answer to Your Messy Counter

There is nothing more stressful than having your collection of cosmetics sprawled across a bathroom counter or vanity. That's where the Jerrybox Makeup Organizer ($19) comes in. It's an Amazon bestseller that can hold up to 30 makeup brushes, 20 bottles of skincare products, and other additional items. It has 735 reviews, and 70 percent of customers give it five stars - that's impressive.

The organizer includes seven layers of adjustable trays that you can change according to the various heights of your products. Its sturdy base rotates 360 degrees so you can easily get to everything. The storage is also washable, which is important when keeping your cosmetics sanitary. This organizer comes in black, white, or lucite - get the design that best matches your space.

"This organizer was very easy to put together," one customer said. "The adjustable shelves work great. Because it's vertical, this organizer uses little counter space. 9 Thoughtful Things You Can Do For Your Partner This Valentine's Day

If you've been with your partner for years, you know that it only gets harder to impress them with every passing Valentine's Day. Sure, this "holiday" shouldn't be the only time you do something nice for one another, but it's another opportunity nonetheless. This year, skip the usual card and gifts and take it back to the basics. Simplicity is key and much more authentic, anyway. Here are nine sweet ways to mix things up on Feb. 14 and beyond.

  1. Serve breakfast in bed. Seeing him or her wake up to their favorite morning foods with a smile is totally worth rising earlier. It'll help the both of you start the day off on a more positive note and allow you to sneak in a few more minutes together before getting ready.
  2. Write a love note. Sneak in a sweet little letter into their work bag saying how much you love them. They'll be so surprised upon finding it and continue to think of you until they get home.
  3. Send a sweet delivery. Have your SO's favorite cookies, cupcakes, or macarons sent to their workplace for an afternoon pick-me-up.
  4. Greet them with champagne. If you get home before your partner does, have a bottle of champagne waiting for them, along with two glasses. Pairing bubbly with their favorite appetizers is an option, too.
  5. Hire a babysitter. Even if you don't have big plans, get the kids out of the house to enjoy some quality time together. It can be as simple as ordering their favorite takeout, lighting some candles, and watching a movie. And of course, you can always go the fancy route and make a reservation at a restaurant they've been dying to try.
  6. Take care of their errands for them. Who said Valentine's Day has to be about gifts? If you've noticed that your partner has a long list of to-dos, give them the gift of time by picking up their dry cleaning, running to the post office, or whatever else they need to get done. You'd also be freeing up their schedule for more moments with you.
  7. Give them a massage. And not just a quick, over-the-clothes rubdown. Have some proper oil on hand and instruct them to strip down. There's no shame in asking for one in return, either.
  8. Plan a staycation. You don't need to leave your city to get away. Book a room at a hotel you've both been eyeing and enjoy an evening of room service.
  9. Take a trip down memory lane. If staying home is a more reasonable option for you, have a nice bottle of wine ready and go through your relationship memorabilia together. Relive your fondest memories through old photos and and love notes, and don't forget to also capture this evening's moments to look back on.

13 Reasons Your Kid Is a Brat That Are Completely Your Fault

Parenting can feel like an uphill battle, no matter your child's age. Not only is there a lot of pressure, but it also feels like whatever you're doing is constantly being scrutinized by strangers, friends, and family.

If you're involved in your kids' lives, then you hear that you're a helicopter parent and you're raising a fragile child. If you leave your children alone and try to let them work things out on their own, then you're neglectful. It seems as though no matter what there's someone there to tell you that you're doing it wrong.

However, a lot of issues with brattiness are the parents' fault - or at least become the parents' responsibility to fix. Although children might pick up bad behavior by modeling what they see on TV or at school, parents are still to blame if they don't put an end to it or just attribute it to age.

"It's not really fair; it's just kind of the way it is," Elaine Rose Glickman, author of Your Kid's a Brat and It's All Your Fault, told POPSUGAR. "If we don't teach our kids a better way, nobody else is stepping up to do so."

The first step to breaking that bratty behavior is realizing what you're doing to contribute to it. Here, the 13 problematic things that parents of spoiled kids do.

5 Ways an Open-Concept Floor Plan Secretly Sucks

Growing up in houses built long before World War II, I've become quite used to the idea of rooms with a specific purpose. That's why when my husband and I were buying our first home, we had a strict "vintage home only" policy. While open-concept floor plans look beautiful in photographs, living with them is a whole other animal. The idea of the floor plan is to have as few internal walls between rooms as possible. With fewer dividers, the home in turn is more - you guessed it - open.

Being a parent of a toddler, I can concede that there can be some benefit to seeing all the living space from one corner of the house. Certainly it is nice to not have to guess what he's doing and to closely monitor his play. However, outside of that one reason, open concept isn't all it's cracked up to be. In fact, it kinda sucks. Here is why we should consider embracing rooms again and abandon the overused open-plan design.

  1. Sound makes doing two things at once impossible. So, your partner wants to read that stack of New Yorkers in the living room in peace and quiet, and you want to make a homemade pesto and listen to Dua Lipa. Sorry, no one is getting what they want, at least not without compromise. Simple tasks like washing dishes, watching TV, and playing music consume the whole house. With rooms, each person gets to make the noise that they want without disturbing everyone else. Rooms also provide some distance, so if someone is being particularly noisy, the one seeking quiet can go away and shut that thing called a door.
  2. It's impossible to keep clean. At a dinner party, guests are sitting down to dinner, and distracting everyone from the conversation is a pile of dishes waiting to be washed, staring them in the face. Open concept means that everyone sees everything, all the time. Even without the challenges of entertaining, it's really difficult to keep a large space clean the whole time. There's always one corner that is off, especially if kids have their way. Stacks of toys and laundry to be folded make even the most kept-up living space seem cluttered.
  3. Privacy is forfeited. If I have to sign for a package, the mailman can only see into the foyer, since the living room is off to the side and the kitchen and dining spaces further back. With rooms, I have more control over who sees what, giving me greater control over my privacy. In an open-concept situation, guests are granted unlimited access to your home.
  4. Decorating is challenging. With designated rooms, decor is a lot simpler. Spaces don't necessarily need to coordinate, giving more design power to the homeowner. Open concept pushes its needs on the family, since creating a coordinated look becomes more important. Changing furniture therefore becomes complicated, since the decision to change one thing can cause a domino effect of new purchases.
  5. It's changed the way we entertain. It's not that open concept is better for entertaining, it's just different. My home was designed in 1915, and we have no problem entertaining with friends. Everyone gathers in different rooms and moves between the spaces. This means that real, more intimate conversations get started, and it allows people an opportunity to find a more quiet space whenever they want. We've managed to throw dozens of fun parties because of, not in spite of, our old-school layout.

This Girl Got a Tiny Bed For Her Hamster, and OMG, the Little Guy Is Living His Best Life

If you're in desperate need of a day-brightener, allow Chip the hamster to intervene. This cutie of all cuties is going viral for the sweetest reason: his owner, Amberly Dzimira, bought him a tiny hamster bed, and he's living the dream. Amberly shared a trio of photos on Jan. 29, writing, "I bought my hamster a lil bed and now we do everything together," and people cannot handle how freaking adorable they are. Chip hangs out in his bed while Amberly studies, relaxes by her side for nights of watching The Secret Life of Pets on Netflix, and joins in on snack time with carrots.

Amberly wants the internet to know that Chip is a male teddy bear hamster, and he's "chill asf," thank you very much. Chip's calming presence and laid-back demeanor in his cozy little bed are giving people a dose of joy that they need. If your goal has suddenly become to get a hamster and bed of your own, you're in luck. There are hamster beds readily available online from places like Petsmart. You can try the 6.5-inch All Living Things Fleece Bed ($6) or the You & Me Small Animal Fleece Bed ($3), for starters. We can all take a moment to thank Chip and Amberly for this moment of cuteness!

The Problem With Owning a Home That I Didn't See Coming

The decision to purchase a home a few years ago was a no-brainer. Having spent all of my adult life in apartments and with roommates, I longed for a space to call my own. One where if I wanted to paint, hang some pictures, or do some remodeling, I could do so without risking the deposit. While owning a home has allowed me the freedom of decoration, I wasn't prepared for the never-ending list of projects that would consume my thoughts and strip my bank account.

When my husband and I were house hunting, we wanted our future home to be "flexible." Unsure of how many rooms we would need or how we planned on using the space, it was imperative that our home be able to grow with us and meet our needs. While it's been nice having rooms that can serve different purposes (and while we realize we're lucky to be able to own a home at all!), it's that same flexibility that has created projects that can be overwhelming. A lot of my free time is spent discussing, working on, planning, and thinking about how to improve the house.

Buying a vintage home meant that I had the opportunity to make some changes to various rooms. The kitchen had been an awful 1970s cave, and I was eager to transform the space. This remodel took about five times as long as it could have and was all we talked about, but we were working with a tight budget and needed that time. Once completed, other projects and problems popped up throughout the house. It seems that there is always another task, always something else to be done. Part of owning a home is accepting that the list of things to be accomplished will go on forever.

Besides remodeling, just the amount of general maintenance is pretty astonishing. Tasks that would have been done by a landlord or custodian are now our tasks. The free time and money we had once taken advantage of as tenants of someone else's property are now spent caring for and redesigning our home. Even though a lot of the time it's fun to daydream about our big projects, it can also be overwhelming. Now the decisions we have to make, on top of being costly, can impact the value of our building. Not wanting to make any bad decisions, I often worry about even the most minor decisions, weighing them against my own needs.

Owning a home has been a great and eye-opening experience, one that has made me appreciate the freedom of renting a little more. What it lacked in flexibility it made up for in not forcing me to always think about projects. But those chores and remodeling are the reality of homeownership, one that I am fortunate enough to get to complain about.

Tammy Duckworth Will Make History as the First Senator to Give Birth in Office!

Tammy Duckworth is many things: the second female senator elected in Illinois, a retired Army lieutenant colonel, a Purple Heart recipient, a mom to 3-year-old Abigail, and now, pregnant with her second child, she will be the first sitting senator to give birth while in office. Duckworth is expecting the arrival of baby girl number two this April, just a few weeks after her 50th birthday on March 12.

In US history, just 10 women in Congress have given birth while in office, but all were serving in the House of Representatives at the time (and Duckworth is one of them!). Her colleague Sen. Dick Durbin of Illinois acknowledged Duckworth making history in a statement: "I am proud to have her as my Illinois colleague and prouder still that she will make history by being the first U.S. Senator to have a baby while in office. I couldn't be happier for her."

Just over six months pregnant now, Duckworth says she "feels great" - but the senator has had a long road to motherhood. She and her husband, Bryan Bowlsbey, tried a variety of methods to get pregnant before conceiving Abigail via IVF. Eighteen months after Abigail's C-section birth, Duckworth and Bowlsbey chose to try IVF again but endured several rounds and a miscarriage in 2016 before becoming pregnant with baby number two.

"I've had multiple IVF cycles and a miscarriage trying to conceive again, so we're very grateful," Duckworth told the Chicago Sun-Times. She added in a statement from her office: "Bryan and I are thrilled that our family is getting a little bit bigger, and Abigail is ecstatic to welcome her baby sister home this spring. As tough as juggling the demands of motherhood and being a Senator can be, I'm hardly alone or unique as a working parent, and Abigail has only made me more committed to doing my job and standing up for hardworking families everywhere."
