This Genius Allergy Tester Can Tell If Nuts Are Hiding in Your Kid's Food

If you've ever had an allergic reaction to food, you know how frustrating - and depending on the severity of the reaction, how frightening - it can be. For parents of children with allergies, this fear only doubles.

It's estimated that one in 13 children in the United States have food allergies, so for caretakers, that translates to tons of work when it comes to food preparation, especially if someone is allergic to peanuts. Wiping down surfaces that might have come into contact with peanuts is just one of the many safety precautions that parents take. But now there's an easy-to-use device that can help you even more.

Announced today, Nima, a science-driven company trying to reduce the anxiety associated with food safety and allergies, has released a Peanut Sensor. It's exactly what it sounds like: a quick and reliable device that tests for the presence of the peanut proteins in food. It's especially handy for dining out or when your child is eating something that you haven't prepared yourself.

61 Costumes That Your "Too-Cool-For-Halloween" Teen Will Actually Want to Wear This Year

Whether your kid is obsessed with all things Star Wars or likes to stick to the classics, we found 39 options that you're going to see all over this year.

Target's Car Seat Trade-In Is Back by Popular Demand, This Time With a Twist!

Target's car seat trade-in program is back this September in honor of Baby Safety Month, but this time, with a twist! During past events - like the one this past April in honor of Earth Day - customers were able to recycle any used car seat for a 20 percent discount on a new car seat, booster seat, car seat base, or travel system. This time, however, customers will be able to redeem their coupons for so much more: all of the above, strollers, and select baby home gear such as playards, high chairs, swings, rockers, and bouncers.

Yes, you read that right. A 20 percent off coupon on some of the most high-ticket baby items, simply for recycling a seat your child no longer uses.

If you're interested in participating, all you have to do is bring your used or damaged seat to the drop-off box at Guest Services in your local Target store between Sept. 9 and 22, and a team member will give you a 20 percent off coupon for each seat recycled. Your coupon can then be used in-store or online through Oct. 6.

"Since the program first started in April 2016, more than 306,000 car seats - equaling more than 4.6 million pounds of materials - have been recycled!" reads Target's announcement for the event. Help add to that number with your own unwanted car seats in the coming weeks, and check out some of the amazing items you can grab for 20 percent off with your resulting coupon.

7 Tips For Talking to Your Kids About Money

Last week, I was grocery shopping with my 4-year-old son, already a cringe-worthy task that became more so when I saw that they'd moved the LaCroix I wanted across the aisle from a display of Imaginext toys I knew he was going to want (curse you, big-box store!).

"Buddy, Mommy has to go grab some water over there, and I see a lot of toys you like nearby, but we aren't buying any today," I warned him. Surprisingly to nobody, he wasn't satisfied with my answer. "Just one toy?" he countered. "I'm sorry; I don't have money for toys today," I responded. Why, he asked, did I have money for flavored sparkling water, yogurt tubes, and the dozens of other items in our cart, but not $7 for the Imaginext Mummy Maker he had just that second decided he couldn't possibly live without?! And, if that was truly the case, couldn't I just use that magic card that always seems to give me more money?

What proceeded was one of many conversations about the complexities of money in general and our family's finances specifically that I've had with my children, ages 4 and 7. Sure, they might be too young to understand stocks and mutual funds, but teaching them about the realities of money is part of my job as a parent, and nope, it's not too early to begin. If you're struggling with how to talk to your kids about money, here are seven tips to get the conversation started.

Are You Ready? 24 Toddler Halloween Costumes That Are Just Too Cute

33 Adorable Halloween Costumes That Won't Break the Budget - All Under $25

It's frightening how quickly all of the Halloween "essentials" can add up every year. From the perfect costume for your kiddos to decorating the house in all of the ghost and ghoulish figures you can find, it often feels like you're spending way more than you planned to. Rather than paying a big price for a costume that you know your kid likely isn't going to want to repeat (or even wear for that long!), consider a budget-friendly alternative that doesn't compromise on cuteness.

Check out these 33 must-see costumes that are all $25 or less!

Hate Halloween? 10 Just-as-Fun Things to Do Instead of Trick-or-Treating

I can't pinpoint exactly when I started to dislike Halloween, but the older I've gotten, the more deeply I loathe the so-called holiday. Between macabre-themed parties, skimpy costumes, and strangers constantly knocking on my door, I'm pretty much over it. I did think that once I had children of my own, I'd start to appreciate it again - the way I did when I was young and trick-or-treating in my mom's handmade costumes - but instead, I find myself trying to convince my husband that our kids won't miss it (he strongly disagrees).

If you are like me and say "boohoo" to Halloween every year instead of just "boo," there's definitely no reason you and your family have to hide out in a dark house as hordes of children in search of processed sugar invade your neighborhood. You can still get out and have a lot of fun - it just won't revolve around death, monsters, or candy. Here are 10 things you can do instead of trick-or-treating this year to enjoy the day in your own way.

Lawnmower Parents Are the New Helicopter Parents - Only They Might Be Even Worse

By now, you've certainly heard of the term "helicopter parenting" - when a parent hovers (like a helicopter) over their child and swoops in at the first sign of trouble. These seemingly supportive moms and dads are labeled as overprotective and are often blamed for raising a generation of children who lack resilience, are overindulged, and feel entitled to just about everything.

But as those children grow, a new type of parent is emerging . . . one that might even be more troubling than those who hover.

"We are creating a generation that has no idea what to do when they actually encounter a struggle."

In a teacher's viral essay, she describes "lawnmower parenting" as the latest "troubling trend" of parental meddling that is adversely affecting kids.

Like the gardening tool they are named after, lawnmower parents cut down any obstacle that could stand in their child's way. They "go to whatever lengths necessary to prevent their child from having to face adversity, struggle or failure," the anonymous teacher wrote on the site WeAreTeachers.

In the post, which has been shared more than 11,000 times since it was published this past week, the middle school teacher shares an anecdote about a parent who dropped off something for his kid during the school day. She assumed it'd be an inhaler or money for lunch, but it was actually a S'well water bottle:

"Hi, sorry," the parent said sheepishly. He was in a suit, clearly headed to work. "Remy kept texting me that she needed it. I texted back, Don't they have water fountains at your school?, but I guess she just had to have it out of the bottle." He laughed, as if to say, Teenagers, am I right?

The teacher wrote about how "raising children who have experienced minimal struggle" is not necessarily doing them any favors or even making them even remotely happier.

Costco’s Halloween Costumes Will Have You Braving the Crowds Just to Get 1

Next time you head to the membership-only behemoth that is Costco to stock up on toilet paper and Tylenol, be sure to put your trick-or-treating hat on, too. The store is stocked with Halloween decor and costumes, and it's putting us in a spooky mood. From fireman get-ups for the little one to floor-grazing capes for adults, check out what's available online.

There's Halloween Decor, and Then There's Pier 1 - 28 Pieces You Probably Won't See Anywhere Else

What good is Halloween without the decor? It's like having a dinner party without any alcohol. Sorry, why are we here?

Part of what makes Oct. 31 so much fun is the amount of time we spend prepping for the big day. The cobwebs along the windowsills, the inflatable ghosts that are so big they practically swallow your front lawn, and the creative trinkets we arrange inside are almost more satisfying than the day itself. Almost.

To whet your appetite, we have Pier 1's spooky assortment, and it's better than ever. We found 28 items that are a must-see, from a trio of meditative skeletons to bat-shaped glimmer lights.

Just a Video of Exes Sarah Silverman and Jimmy Kimmel Casually Talking About Dating

Don't you just love catching up with your former beaus about your current love life? No? Tell that to exes Sarah Silverman and Jimmy Kimmel, who just had a hilariously awkward conversation about the state of their romantic relationships during Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Wednesday night. Sarah stopped by the show to promote her new series I Love You, America, when Jimmy inquired about her dating life since her split from Michael Sheen last year - and her response was gold.

"What's going on with me dating-wise? I'm waiting for this tryst with you to be over," she joked, referring to Jimmy's marriage to his show's co-head writer, Molly McNearney. "I mean, OK, Molly is cute. She's bright, she's funny, she's blonde - whatever. But come on!" She later joked about no longer seeing him as a "sexual being" anymore. See more of their exchange in the video above.

Victoria Beckham Goes Back to Her Roots in a Hilarious New Video For Vogue

Victoria Beckham has teamed up with British Vogue to celebrate the 10th anniversary of her eponymous label, and in celebration, the star has filmed a behind-the-scenes video of her cover shoot that revisits some of her most memorable looks. In typical deadpan style, Victoria explains that they're working on "a cover story celebrating the rich and inspiring history of one of the most enduring style icons of all time: me, Victoria Beckham." She then proceeds to try to persuade Edward Enninful to go with her very distinct vision (what she really, really wants . . . ), which involves four other girls and a "space pyramid."

As well as treating us to a big dose of Victoria's self-deprecating humor, the video also gives us a look back at some of her most iconic outfits, including her corseted wedding dress (yes, it still fits), her sexy blue-and-green Cavalli gown, and her iconic "little black Gucci dress." There's even a glimpse of her infamous wedding throne!

Kendall Jenner Started Fashion Week With a Bang - Nay, Roar - in These Wild Pants

Kendall Jenner's Fashion Month outfits never cease to amaze us, and this year, she kicked off New York Fashion Week with a bold outfit that's certainly one for the books. The model wore one of this Fall's biggest trends, slipping into a pair of red animal-print pants by Tom Ford for a night on the town with BFF Gigi Hadid, who had coincidentally just closed out Tom Ford's runway show. Kendall's velvet trousers featured flared legs and a distinctive jaguar pattern - oh, and quite the sizable price tag, ringing up at $1,590, to be exact.

The 22-year-old star paired her fierce pants with a ZZ Top graphic tee and black square-toe boots as she headed into a nightclub with her pals. Ahead, see Kendall's rockin' outfit, then shop her exact red pants and other similar styles in case you're not quite ready to blow your paycheck on one pair of trousers.

This Mom's "Fortnite Detox" Sign Will Make Parents Instantly Grateful For Back-to-School Season

Jenn Bairos, a mom from Toronto, Canada, and a blogger at A Splendid Messy Life, is the first person to admit going back to school can be an emotional rollercoaster for parents and students alike. But in a recent Facebook post, she highlighted an upside to back-to-school season: less time spent playing Fortnite. In an effort to have parents look at the glass half-full, she made a sign for the school door that reads: "Fortnite Detox Begins at 8:20 AM Thursday" - and yup, it's hilariously accurate.

Jenn added a caption to explain where she got the idea. "Inspired by another middle school, my friend and I created this sign for our students, many of whom are on campus today for orientation with their parents." All we can say is, she definitely has a point!

Yes, I Am That Mom Who Decorates For Christmas the Day After Halloween

In late August, I turned to my husband and asked, "Is it too early to start watching Christmas Vacation?" "No," he replied, which is why I married him. Because for us, it's never too soon to start celebrating Christmas. One year, we put on a Christmas in July celebration with a mini-tree and presents, and even baked Christmas cookies just because we couldn't wait until December (yep, we are those people). But even when we haven't pulled together a holiday in the middle of Summer, I'm not worried, because I know it'll be only a few months until we start decorating for the real thing.

Why wouldn't you want to enjoy the most wonderful time of the year for as long as possible? I [feel] all merry and bright with not one ounce of shame.

For us, Halloween is just a warmup for Christmas. In all honesty, I'd be happy to skip dressing up altogether and get to Yuletide already. I figure, why even wait until Thanksgiving to start decorating for Christmas? Wouldn't you prefer to sit down to a turkey dinner at a table set in Christmas gingham? With garland festooning the windows, and stockings hung by the chimney? With care, of course.

It's not easy to get a real Christmas tree before Thanksgiving, unfortunately. It's usually about mid-November before we can find one, but I still decorate as early as Nov. 1. Until the tree lots are open for business, you'd better believe we get busy going through and putting out our supersize collection of Christmas throw pillows and blankets, bowls and assorted serveware, mugs, glassware, wall hangings, stuffed animals, wreaths, and lights. Stockings get hung up. I drink my morning coffee out of my treasured "Ho, Ho, Ho" mug. My "Holly Jolly" wine glass is in full effect. We start watching our favorite Christmas movies.

Yes, this is all happening long before I've contemplated a Thanksgiving dinner menu. Why? Why wouldn't you want to enjoy the most wonderful time of the year for as long as possible? Stores are already selling Christmas stuff, Starbucks will have started offering its peppermint mocha, and I'm right there with 'em feeling all merry and bright with not one ounce of shame.

And if I do ever feel silly for a moment, the thought quickly fades when I remind myself that the world is full of depressing news, especially right now. I've also experienced my fair share of challenges in life. So if I can add a few sprinkles of happiness to our days for a bit longer during this time of year, I'm going to do it. Really, can you ever have too many smiles or silver-painted sugar cookies, no matter how early in the year it is?

Here's How Rapidly You Start to Lose Muscle Once You Stop Lifting Weights

My first gym session after a trip to Barcelona, where the only exercise I did was walking (and eating paella), was a struggle. The barbell I used to pick up with ease suddenly felt way heavier. (I actually triple checked to make sure I hadn't accidentally grabbed the wrong barbell - nope.) You may know the feeling. Returning to the gym after an extended break can be brutal.

"Unfortunately, exercise is truly 'use it or lose it.' If you stop strength training, you'll likely notice decreased strength (making it harder to perform daily activities), energy loss, impaired balance, and weight gain in as little as 3-4 weeks," Meghan Nagel, manager of fitness programming at Virtual Health Partners, told POPSUGAR. "Your muscles may also feel less firm and 'toned' when you stop lifting." (That sound you hear is me screaming "whyyyyy?" into the weight room abyss.)

To find out what happens to your body when you stop strength training, POPSUGAR spoke to Nagel and Dr. Jacqueline Schaffer, board-certified MD, bestselling author of Irresistible You, and founder of Schique Skincare. Here's what they had to say.

These Are the Heels I've Willingly Stood in All Day Long

There's something about wearing a pair of heels that just makes you feel put together; sadly, they're pretty rough on your feet. So usually, my days are spent in sneakers, flat boots, or sandals, just because I can't stand to be uncomfortable. Still, when I stumbled on these Sam Edelman Sammy Sandals ($120), I had to bring them home, planning on them being more of a special-occasion shoe.

One morning, I decided to wear them to brunch, thinking I'd be back home in a couple of hours. But brunch turned into running a few errands and then heading to a party, and before I knew it, I was at dinner. Between walking around New York City all day long and standing at parties, during happy hours, and on the subway, my feet never got achy or sore.

I think Sam Edelman shoes are some of the most comfortable out there, but I was really impressed with this adorable pair. The straps don't dig into my feet and actually keep me feeling secure. They also come in a sandy color, but I love the black, because they'll seamlessly transition to Fall. Suffice it to say, if you're on your feet all day but still want to rock your heels, you have to try these.

I Worked in Retail For 5 Years, and These Are the Only Flats I Could Stand In All Day

Since I'm a shopping editor, people always ask me for advice on what's the best of the best. One question I often field is, "What are the most comfortable flats?" I can speak from experience that these Sam Edelman Felicia Flats ($70-$100) are total winners.

In college, I started working in retail. I often spent six to eight hours, at least five days a week, walking in circles around a store, wreaking havoc on my feet wearing heeled shoes or too-flat flats. After what felt like years of trial-and-error runs of every shoe possible, I finally came to the conclusion that the Felicia flats are my favorite.

Aside from the cute, classic ballet style, I was attracted to them because of the cushioned heeled soles and flexible backs. Importantly, it's a flat that offers support and doesn't cut into the backs of my ankles. From leather to suede, metallic, printed fabric, and even calf-hair, the flats come in an array of materials and more colors and designs than I can even count. A number of their classic styles also come in medium, narrow, and wide choices. What could make them even better? They cost $100 - making them the most glamorous pair I could afford during my college days, but they lasted me for years. I found myself investing in new styles and colors anytime I could, knowing this was the shoe I could always rely on.

Do yourself (and your feet) a favor and get a pair for Fall; you won't regret it. Keep scrolling to shop a few of my favorite picks.

Chrissy Teigen is known as the goofy, funny, and likable celebrity everyone wants to be BFFs with. Whether she's clapping back at haters on social media or posting a funny video, she always has us in stitches.

But things weren't always so upbeat for the model and cookbook author. In fact, Chrissy has opened up about her postpartum depression in the past with a raw and honest open letter. "I have postpartum depression. How can I feel this way when everything is so great?" she wrote in the letter. "But it's such a major part of my life and so, so many other women's lives. It would feel wrong to write anything else."

Now, Chrissy has revealed how she got her mental health on track in the October issue of Women's Health. She said she started taking an antidepressant, and she went with her husband, John Legend, to a wellness retreat at COMO Shambhala Estate in Bali.

"It's like, what could be more important than mental health? What's more important than being proud of yourself and doing the best you can for your body?" she told Women's Health.

We agree that your mental health and well-being should be a top priority. We love that Chrissy has been so open about her mental health and getting help and hope she continues to share her journey with us.

Netflix Revives Designated Survivor For a Third Season to Tackle Democracy and Fake News

Designated Survivor is living up to its name! The Kiefer Sutherland-led series has officially been spared from the chopping block and picked up for a third season, a la Netflix. The streaming service revived the series after ABC canceled the political drama in May due to low ratings.

According to Deadline, the third season will have 10 episodes and be a global Netflix original. The series will take on a new direction under Law & Order: SVU alum Neal Baer, who will serve as its fifth showrunner. Core cast members are set to return, including Sutherland, Kal Penn, Adan Canto, and Italia Ricci. Deadline reports that production is set to begin later this year for a season premiere in 2019, so you won't have to wait long to see more of the story.

"I am thrilled to have the opportunity to play President Kirkman for season three of Designated Survivor," Sutherland said in a statement. "I believe this format will allow us to continue to delve deeply into storylines and issues concerning the American electorate that were not previously possible."

The third season is expected to focus on President Kirkman's (Sutherland) bid for re-election. According to the synopsis, the season will explore "today's world of campaigning, smear tactics, debates, campaign finance, and 'fake news.' Democracy, as we know it, will hang in the balance." Sounds kind of familiar, doesn't it? Stay tuned for further updates as production begins!

Win or Lose, It's Clear Serena and Venus Williams Always Have Each Other's Backs

Serena Williams may have recently defeated Venus during the third round of this year's US Open, but it's clear the sisters have nothing but love and respect for one another. Serena and Venus have been competing against each other for the past 20 years, and their bond only seems to grow stronger with time. "I always want the best for Serena," Venus previously told Oprah Winfrey. "As the older sister who took care of her, I still look out for Serena on the court - yet I'm trying to get the win myself. We're definitely in a strange situation, one that no other player has been in. The best part is that right now we're the best at what we do." Win or lose, at least Serena and Venus can always count on each other.

I'm a Trainer, and This Is the Exercise You Should Do For a Bigger, Stronger Butt - It's Not Squats

Building a larger butt has definitely become a trend in the fitness community. As a trainer, I have to say that I'm not opposed to it at all. Yes, it has a lot to do with vanity, but at the end of the day, consistently doing lower-body strength exercises primarily focusing on the gluteal muscles will strengthen and activate those muscles. This is important for a few reasons: having active glutes (when the muscles are firing properly) will allow you to improve your athletic performance (running, jumping, etc.), it will prevent dormant butt syndrome (your hip flexors tighten and you may experience back and knee pain), and your butt will look amazing.

One of the most popular glute-activating exercises is the barbell hip thrust. All you have to do is scroll through Instagram and you'll see your favorite influencers, celebrities, and even your friends doing this move. I think it's a great exercise to incorporate into your routine to improve your overall lower-body strength and to enhance your assets, but I don't advise it for beginners since it's an advanced lift.

Instead, I recommend starting with the weighted glute bridge. This will allow you to get comfortable with the movement pattern before progressing to the barbell hip thrust. Curious about how to do it? Continue reading for all the details.

Here's how to do a weighted glute bridge:

  • Grab a medium to heavy dumbbell; 20 pounds is a great starting point. You can also do this exercise using just your bodyweight.
  • On your mat, lie on your back with your knees bent and feet flat on the floor. Be sure and keep your feet underneath your knees, not in front. Place the dumbbell on top of your lower abdominals (below your belly button and above your hip bones). Hold the dumbbell in place with both hands to prevent it from moving.
  • Raise your hips up to the ceiling, tensing your abs and squeezing your butt as you do. You should be making a long diagonal line with your body, from shoulders to knees.
  • Hold for three seconds making sure your spine doesn't round and your hips don't sag. Keep your abs and butt muscles engaged.
  • Lower down to the ground; this is considered one rep.
  • Complete three sets of 12 reps.
  • Begin to implement this exercise into your routine two to three times a week. Once you're comfortable with this movement pattern, advance to the barbell hip thrust.

Chrissy Teigen's Dress Showed So Much Leg, John Couldn't Tear His Eyes Away

When Chrissy Teigen and John Legend attended the GQ Men of the Year Awards in London, they stole the red carpet spotlight and simultaneously fueled our #relationshipgoals. As soon as the dynamic duo showed up to the venue, our eyes were immediately drawn to Chrissy's shimmery tunic dress. A draped metallic gown by Labourjoisie, it featured a plunging neckline, blush and silver beaded detailing all over, a velvet waistband, and wispy fringed hems that danced around as she walked.

Oh, and we almost forgot to mention: her dress cut so high on both sides, you could spot the lacy light-pink slip she was wearing underneath as she made her way down the red carpet. No wonder her husband couldn't resist giving her a sweet smooch in front of the cameras!

Chrissy paired her leg-baring gown with simple Jimmy Choo heels, diamond earrings, and a clutch designed by Judith Leiber. Meanwhile, John looked as dapper as ever in a blue velvet suit, the perfect ensemble for accepting the award for most stylish man during the show. Ahead, see the impossibly chic couple enjoying their night out together.

The moment Rihanna arrived at the Met Gala this year, it was like she parted the red sea carpet and showed everyone why she's truly a fashion icon. Anna Kendrick's Epic Rap on The Ellen Show Will Take You Back to Her Pitch Perfect Days

If there's one thing we've always admired about Anna Kendrick, it's her "respect for the streets." It's been a while since the A Simple Favor star showed off her musical skills, but during her Thursday appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show she did just that. During the show, Kendrick requested a "simple favor" from DeGeneres - to send out specific tweets from her Twitter account, including one that said, "A Simple Favor is so amazing, it'll get you laid." In return, the comedian asked the actress to perform M.O.P's "Ante Up," which she rapped along to in a film.

"It's so embarrassing," Kendrick responded, laughing. "I was really feeling the rap. I say that you have to have respect for the streets, which is how I try to live my life." Thankfully she agreed and graced us all with a performance done completely from memory. It really takes us back to those glorious Pitch Perfect riff-off days. Watch Kendrick show off her impressive rap skills above!

Here's Why You Won't See Photos of Prince George's First Day of School This Year

Today is Prince George's first day of school, and unlike when he arrived last September for kindergarten with his dad while Kate Middleton was battling severe morning sickness, it's likely both his parents will be escorting him this time. But if you were hoping to peep some adorable photos of the 5-year-old heir in his dapper uniform and perhaps an oversize backpack, you're in for some disappointment.

Although his first-ever day of school at Thomas's Academy in Battersea last year was captured by photographers, Kensington Palace will not likely release any official portraits of Prince George heading off to first grade.

In fact, the media were not invited to record his arrival this September.

Apparently, it's royal tradition that children are pictured on their very first day of school, but aren't photographed in subsequent years to protect the family's privacy - which would explain why there are only a handful of photos of Prince George heading to Westacre Montessori nursery school in 2016, and why images of both Prince William and Prince Harry from their school tenure are rarities.

Still, if you want to appreciate all the cuteness that is the little prince heading off to school, here's a quick look back at his two previous first-day photo ops.

I'm a Mom, but I'm Not Maternal

According to Merriam-Webster's Dictionary, the definition of maternal is "of, relating to, belonging to, or characteristic of a mother." In other words, it's those natural and warm instincts that are traditionally associated with being a mom. Acting maternal should come easy to all women, right? So, to be a mother is to be maternal. Well, actually, no. Not all mothers feel maternal, even after having more than one baby. To some women, motherhood comes with a severe learning curve - one that takes a lot of time and practice. How do I know? I'm one of them.

I didn't like being needed that much. How unmaternal is that? I thought I was supposed to love being attached to my baby all the time.

I always knew I wanted to be a mom. I enjoyed coaching the little kids at soccer camp and was also a teacher for a period of time. I adored helping children learn, and their joy made my heart swell. Plus, I had heard numerous stories from my own mother and my friends about how euphoric motherhood is for them. They made it sound like it was as blissful as falling in love for the first time, which, I guess it sort of is. So, I assumed it would be that way for me, too. Only it wasn't.

When I was pregnant, I felt excited like many first-time moms. I registered for all the necessities, got the nursery set up perfectly, and did my research about child-rearing. But when I brought my baby boy home from the hospital and stepped into my house for the first time as a mother, I felt everything but maternal. Nothing about being a mother felt natural to me. The lack of sleep, the horror that was breastfeeding, and the constantly being needed - yeah, I was lost. I felt like I needed a GPS to help me navigate my way through the fog of early motherhood.

Not only did I not know what I was doing, but the pressure of loving motherhood at all hours of the day was too immense for me to handle. I'm a confident enough mother to admit this now, but at the time, I didn't like being needed that much. How unmaternal is that? I thought I was supposed to love being attached to my baby all the time. I felt so inadequate and ashamed that motherhood was not this innate, blissful experience for me like I had heard it was from so many other mothers. I felt like a fraud. But I kept trying. I cuddled and loved him through my constant flow of tears.

Eventually, I started to feel like I was getting the hang of it. I was still unsteady, but I truly began enjoying my firstborn instead of beating myself up over things not coming naturally to me. And while I know I'm not maternal, I also know that I'm still a pretty damn good mother. I love both of my children despite my intense learning curve. So if "maternal" isn't in your DNA, it's OK. Trust me. Mothering will get easier and your children will love you no matter what. Don't let the word get in your way of being the best mother you can be.

The Surprising Inspiration Behind Henry Golding's Character in A Simple Favor

The past few years have been a whirlwind for Henry Golding, and luckily for all of us, he doesn't plan on slowing down anytime soon.

The 31-year-old British–Malaysian actor first got his start on screen as a travel host on BBC's The Travel Show in 2014, and has quickly transformed himself into one of Hollywood's hottest up-and-coming actors. After stealing our hearts with his role as Nick Young in Jon M. Chu's blockbuster rom-com Crazy Rich Asians this Summer, Golding is stepping into a much darker role in the upcoming thriller A Simple Favor, alongside Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick.

"It's such a different take of characters that I've played," Golding told POPSUGAR about his role in the film. "Sean is this much darker, mysterious, unsuspecting character. You don't know where he sits." Even though Sean is a far cry from the romantic Nick Young, Golding still finds a way to make the character charming with his natural charisma. In fact, director Paul Feig actually advised Golding to model his character after Cary Grant's character in Suspicion, Johnnie Aysgarth. "That's the frame of mind going into this character that I needed to have," Golding explained. "And I think it definitely works. It takes you on this unsuspecting sort of journey with Sean, and the audience really don't know who he is."

While Sean is dark and mysterious in his own right, Lively and Kendrick's characters are just as twisted. "It was amazing," Golding said about working with the pair. "If you could dream up two female leads in this universe, they're very close to the top of the list." Though the three characters have a complicated relationship in the film, Golding admitted it was a thrill filming those intense scenes. "Especially scenes where the proximity is so close - there's no one else in the room, apart from us three. There are no extras. It's in a home, in a room with myself, Anna, and Blake for the entire day. It's just a joy. And it's such a different way of acting; it's laser-focused."

In his short career, Golding has already starred alongside some talented actors, but he really looks up to the directors he's worked with. "[Some of my biggest inspirations are] directors that really pushed the boundaries of film," Golding said. "People that go out on a limb to stand out and try to bring something new to the table. Same goes with Paul Feig in [A Simple Favor], giving his spin on a genre that he's not known for. For Jon [M. Chu], putting out the weight of Asians around the world on his shoulders and killing it. Those are the types of directors I want to work with, people who stand within the arena; in the blood and in the sand, fighting their hardest to do good."

While Golding has been thrust into the spotlight over the past few months, he's trying to stay grounded despite his newfound stardom. "I think I'm level-headed enough to understand that it's hard work that really pays off, and I think the understanding of these opportunities come far and few between, so take advantage of them; work your hardest," he said. "That's what we've been doing for the past sort of year-and-a-half. But for me, it's really the joy in creating what I have loved my entire life, and that's great movies. I love cinema altogether. So for me, it's the greatest dream."

"It's so inspiring getting these stories from everybody of how it affects them, and how they intend to help share the love."

Of course, one of the most rewarding parts about his success, specifically with Crazy Rich Asians, has been seeing the fan response. "It's been a very vocal crowd," he explained. "They're like, 'This is the first time that I've cried in the cinema, not because of the story, but because of what I see on screen and what it means to that person.' It's so inspiring getting these stories from everybody of how it affects them, and how they intend to help share the love."

So, what does Golding have in store next? While he admitted that sci-fi is his "dream genre," what it truly comes down to is finding scripts that speak to him. "It doesn't matter which genre it falls in. If it's a movie that I would want to watch, that's something that I want to be a part of," he said. "Just doing justice to great material is what I'm meant for."

A Simple Favor hits theaters on Sept. 14.

The Dior Saddle Bag Is Nice, but This One's Named After Princess Diana

If you're a fashion girl, you're probably familiar with the classic Lady Dior bag and the signature Gancio clasp spotted on Salvatore Ferragamo Lady D chain-strap designs. But you might not have realized that these two creations were named after and popularized by the late Princess Diana.

While she collected an assortment of luxury handbags throughout the years, Diana's black quilted Dior satchel with gold hardware and her many Ferragamo crossbody pouches became iconic. Today, both brands still market these silhouettes with ties to the beloved royal. Read on to see Princess Diana wearing them, then shop the modernized versions.

I Swapped All My Heavy-Duty Products For Fancy Organic Stuff, and My Skin Was PISSED

My skin has been doused in every type of chemical approved by the FDA for decades. If it'll degunk my pores, lighten my under-eye circles, or zap my zits, I'll pile it on. But every few years, I call for a cleanse. I put all my heavy-duty products in a box, shove it under my sink, and swap in natural, organic skin care. A few weeks ago, I stocked up on one of my favorite organic brands (which shall remain nameless, as it's not relevant to today's investigation) and prepared for a month of clean living. Ten days later, my chin was dotted with tiny, angry bumps that lasted several weeks, until I tweaked my regimen.

Why had the skincare gods forsaken me? It had been years since my cystic acne was banished by a five-month supply of Accutane, and I rarely experienced any annoying, surface-level zits. It wasn't "that time of the month," nor had my diet changed dramatically. No late-night ice cream binges, and my water intake was steady. Could it be the organic products? Had my skin become so dependent on chemicals that the natural cleanser didn't make an impact? Was my skin purging, the way it does after an intense facial brings everything to the surface?

I consulted two dermatologists to find out what could have happened.
