Our Cat Has Cancer - Should I Let My Son Be There at the End?
The words "bad cancer" hung heavy in the air as the vet exited into the hallway. My husband and I were left in the examining room as I convinced myself I'd misheard. The vet must have made a mistake. There must've been a simpler explanation for our cat's slight weight loss because she was still acting normal: eating, tormenting the two dogs, and most of all, playing with our 5-year-old. I immediately thought of my son giggling and playing a game of tag that he lovingly called "Chase Kitty." The tears came. What would happen to my son?
Right now, this powerful love is all my son knows, and I'm going to let him hold onto it as long as he can.
If the vet was correct, there would be very little time left for chases and cuddles with my boy and his cat, who we named Kitty. Her diagnosis is terminal, and the only viable treatments are ones that help her feel better and work on extending her life only for the immediate future. This was not at all the news I was expecting on a boring Thursday morning. I'm still trying to process what this loss will mean for my heart and that of my son.
Kitty joined our family four years before my son was born, so he grew up with her. She's been an ever-present shadow, magically crawling out from behind small spaces to supervise my parenting skills or keep a watchful eye on my son's Legos. Her piercing green eyes are forever evaluating, which means that even after nine years, I'm still not sure she fully approves of me. But I like to think that all those late-night cuddles and sweet purrs are signs she knows I try to do the best for my son and for her.
But now I'm confused as to what my best should be. In an effort to prepare my son for the inevitable, do I explain to him what's happening? Would the best and most loving choice be to let him stay with her at the end? Would being with him bring the most comfort to Kitty in her final moments? I've been around pets all my life, and I can honestly say this part of the journey never gets any easier. My heart breaks, I cry and wail, but after enough time passes, I'm left with beautiful and loving memories that become stronger than my feelings of grief and loss. Right now, this powerful love is all my son knows, and I'm going to let him hold onto it as long as he can.
My son knows Kitty isn't feeling well, and that's been enough information for him. If he asks more questions, I'll be honest and explain her illness in the simplest of terms. However, I feel strongly that he doesn't need to be there to experience her last moments. His memories of his best friend should be joyful, innocent, and loving. I want him to think of her and remember playing "Chase Kitty," their sweet kisses, and their afterschool cuddles. As much as I want him to be there for her (and vice versa) to say goodbye, I don't think he'll be able to process such a complex event as a 5-year-old child. I'm an adult, and I feel as if I barely do.
While it may seem simple to some, this has been one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make. Each outcome breaks my heart. I won't let my son be there to see her go, but I still struggle with the fact that my decision might make it worse. Still, when that day does come in the near future, I'll be there to hold Kitty, kiss her head, and say goodbye. But most of all, I'll thank her for all the snuggles and all the love, and I hope she'll approve.
The Keto Diet Was Catastrophic to My Mental Health - Here's Why
When I learned about the keto diet, it didn't feel too different from my post-Whole30 eating habits. My typical plate was filled with mostly veggies, meat, and tofu; I drank green smoothies for breakfast; and I swore by bulletproof coffee (though I still enjoyed cocktails at happy hour and my favorite pad Thai). I'd heard that some women struggling with PCOS (like myself) found symptom relief with higher-fat, lower- carbohydrate diets - so I stocked up on all the fats and began my own 21 days of keto challenge.
Moment of pure, unfiltered honesty: my first week on the keto diet felt like a mix between repeatedly being hit with a sledgehammer and being punched in the stomach. Torture. I experienced the reality that is the keto flu, which manifested for me as several days of pure exhaustion, headaches, general grumpiness, and poor sleep. I'd read this was all part of the journey, so I took friends' advice to up my calorie intake and drink a ton of water. But after nearly two weeks, I didn't feel anything close to the gobs of mental clarity and energy they proclaimed.
As I pushed into my second week, I noticed a general keto takeover of my mind. When I found myself spending more time googling the net carbs in pieces of kale for my salad than eating it, I realized what had started as an enthusiastic wellness adventure had taken a dark turn - one I am still recovering from.
"Diets such as keto and Whole30 can trigger dangerous restriction habits, create a setup for binge-eating, and send obsessive food thoughts spiraling," said Dr. Ashley Solomon, executive clinical director of Eating Recovery Center in Ohio. "These diets are not effective long-term, and when they ultimately fail, they have people beating themselves up for not 'trying hard enough' rather than understanding that a restrictive and unhelpful way of eating was never the answer."
I dropped five pounds in under two weeks, but I couldn't shake my constant exhaustion and irritability.
I dropped five pounds in under two weeks, but I couldn't shake my constant exhaustion and irritability. My coworkers began to take notice. As a fitness professional, my job requires me to be on at all times - and I was less than present. I loved cooking, but I began to dread mealtime for fear of miscalculating carbs or just not having the energy to whip up even the simplest of meals. This unhealthy mindset triggered a slide back down the path of my disordered eating tendencies. Thought patterns, obsessions, and actions that hadn't been part of my life for years were reappearing at an alarming rate.
I wondered how all of this could emerge from a single diet challenge. "The problem is fundamental to the way that food is framed in these plans," said Dr. Solomon. "Plans like Whole30 and keto talk about 'stripping' and 'eliminating' foods from your life, which frames food as something to be feared and avoided. Depriving our bodies of a variety of food experiences and nutrients will have our brains crying. For people at risk for eating disorders, this can be a recipe for disaster."
When I decided to stop the keto diet, my body revolted. I woke up constipated and inflamed - my stomach was distended in a constant state of bloating, my face puffy and swollen. My body began holding on tight to the influx of carbohydrates, and I quickly gained back any weight I had lost and then some.
Not only did my body physically rebel, but so did my mind. My cravings grew so fierce I was dreaming in carbs. I wanted the bags of candy at the gas station, the glowing cabinet of baked goodies at Whole Foods, the plastic containers of grocery store cupcakes with their neon frosting. Foods I never thought twice about before practically screamed at me. Healthy nutrition habits I'd refined over the past year virtually disappeared, and once again I was a slave to sugar and white carbs.
"Creating rigid rules around food reinforces feelings of fear, anxiety, and shame for people predisposed to disordered eating," Dr. Solomon said. "Plus, most of these diets even acknowledge that cravings increase upon starting them, which is a key trigger for binge-eating." I could relate; I felt ashamed of my "failure" to complete a simple 21-day keto trial and of my backslide in an area of my life where I had worked tirelessly to recover.
To compensate for my out-of-control feelings, I was thrown back into the cycle of binge-eating and purging once more. I finally confided in a close friend who urged me to seek out professional support in my recovery journey.
To compensate for my out-of-control feelings, I was thrown back into the cycle of binge-eating and purging once more.
I have dear friends and acquaintances who have had massive success with keto, Whole30, low-carb, vegan, Paleo, and other of-the-moment eating lifestyles. I found my own success in rooting out food intolerances with the Whole30 the first time I did it a year ago, and even in switching to a higher-fat, lower-carb diet.
But now I know there's a darker side of the fad diet story. Not every new diet that gains popularity is suitable for everyone. Food is so richly tied to ourselves and our emotions. And as much as some preach the benefits of their own particular approach, there really is no solid one-size-fits-all approach to a healthy lifestyle.
When deciding to give a trend or new way of eating a try, chat with a health professional such as a registered dietitian or holistic nutritionist first rather than diving in after skimming the internet or reading up on what your favorite blogger does. There are real dangers to be aware of when beginning any new diet. It's so easy to get caught up in the pursuit of a healthy lifestyle that we can toe the line between passionate learning and unhealthy obsession. "A focus on health and well-being has been demonstrated to have the best long-term outcomes [rather than diets]," Dr. Solomon said. "And for those without specific medical conditions, enjoying a variety of foods and having food freedom rather than elimination is the key."

The Jonas Brothers' Partners Are Front and Center For Their "Sucker" Music Video
The Jonas Brothers are officially back! On Thursday, the real-life brothers revealed they are reuniting with the announcement of their new single, "Sucker." In addition to the brand-new track, they also released an accompanying music video at midnight! As the brothers sing about being suckers in love, they can be seen dancing around and singing in a huge mansion. Fittingly, the video also features special cameos from Kevin's, Joe's, and Nick's real-life partners - Danielle Jonas, Sophie Turner, and Priyanka Chopra, respectively - as their love interests.
The group first sparked reunion rumors last year when they suddenly reactivated their social media accounts, but they didn't officially confirm the news until just recently. In addition to their new single, the band is also set to make a week-long appearance on The Late Late Show With James Corden. They're even participating in their very own "Carpool Karaoke" session. Cue the nostalgia!
Holy Scholastic Book Fair! A Baby-Sitters Club Reboot Is Heading to Netflix
It's been over 30 years since "Kristy's Great Idea" introduced us to the original members of The Baby-Sitters Club. Now Kristy Thomas, Mary Anne Spier, Claudia Kishi, Stacey McGill, and Dawn Schafer are heading to Netflix!
The online streamer has officially ordered a 10-episode, live-action series based on Ann M. Martin's bestselling book series. Much like the novels she began publishing in 1986, the reboot will follow five friends (and the others who join throughout the series) who decide to open up a babysitting business in their sleepy town of Stoneybrook, CT. In a press release sent out on Thursday, Feb. 28, Netflix described the reboot as a "family-friendly" adaptation geared to replicate the books' "timely story of female friendship, entrepreneurialism and empowerment."
"The themes of The Baby-Sitters Club still resonate 30 years after the original book series was released and there has never been a more opportune time to tell an aspirational story about empowering young female entrepreneurs," said Melissa Cobb, vice president of Kids & Family at Netflix. "Together with Ann M. Martin and the team at Walden Media, our ambition is to contemporize the storylines and adventures of this iconic group of girlfriends to reflect modern-day issues."
Since the series will be set in the present, the "modern-day issues" the series will tackle include divorce, racism, and belonging in a series geared for kids, teens, and adults. Martin and Walden Media's Naia Cucukov will produce the series with GLOW's Rachel Shukert serving as showrunner and Broad City's Lucia Aniello serving as both director and executive producer. There's no word on when production will begin, but stay tuned for more information as the series shapes up!
PSA: Target's Giving Out a $20 Gift Card For Every $100 Spent on Baby Items
It's no secret that the world's smallest humans are more often than not the most expensive. They grow out of their clothes faster than you can do up the snap buttons, the price tags on the gear they'll use for a few months to a year might as well read "arm and a leg," they fly through boxes of diapers you swear you just bought, and, even though all they consume is milk and mashed up fruits and veggies, it seems like you somehow pay more for their diets than your own.
Target knows that everything your baby needs adds up, so like the angel it is, it's offering a seriously incredible deal: a free $20 gift card for every $100 you spend on certain baby essentials.
Nearly 2,000 different types of diapers, wipes, and toiletries are all eligible products to purchase toward the $20 gift card. However, there's a slight catch - you have to place your order using in-store Order Pickup or Target Restock, the company's next-day delivery service, in order to receive the deal.
So even if all you really have on your Target shopping list is a box of diapers or two, it might be worth it to shop in bulk, or add a few extra eligible items you know you'll eventually need to your cart just to hit that $100 sweet spot. Because the best part of all of this? That $15 gift card doesn't also have to be spent on baby gear - it can be spent on anything Target sells that your late-night-aisle-wandering-heart desires.
Ooh, heaven is a place on earth.
14-Year-Old Marsai Martin Is Set to Become the Youngest Executive Producer in History
Black-ish star Marsai Martin is about to make history. The 14-year-old actress is gearing up to be the youngest executive producer of a major Hollywood movie in history. You read that right. She's 14, and she's out here making movies (and starring in them). Whew. She'll bear the title when her film Little, starring Insecure's Issa Rae and Girls Trip's Regina Hall, hits theaters this Spring.
The movie centers around a woman named Jordan Sanders (Hall), whose callous behavior causes her to become cursed by a little girl. Jordan then turns back into her 13-year-old self (Martin), who must relive her childhood. In an interview with The Root, Martin confirmed that the movie is inspired by Tom Hank's 1988 classic Big. "It was one of my most favorite films growing up," she said. "After the [season one] finale of Black-ish, we told Kenya Barris about it, and he called Will [Packer] and said: 'Yo, you know the girl who plays Diane on Black-ish? She has this dope idea!'"
Martin tweeted about her excitement for fans to see the film after the trailer dropped in January. "So happy to finally be able to share the trailer, so proud of the things accomplished since we started this and eternally grateful to you guys for listening when others didn't take us seriously," she wrote.

I wonder what those people who didn't take her seriously were doing at 14 years old. Certainly not producing Hollywood films, that's for sure. Watch the trailer for Little before it hits theaters on April 12!
Jennifer Garner Went All Out With Her Son’s Birthday Theme, and OMG, We’re Loving Her Enthusiasm
We know what it looks like to half-ass something. Whether it's a last-minute Halloween costume or a barely-thrown-together dinner party, we can spot poor execution from a mile away - heck, we're practically professionals at phoning it in. Which is precisely why, after spotting Jennifer Garner's latest picture on Instagram, we know she went balls-to-the-wall when it came to throwing her son Samuel's seventh birthday.
In a head-to-toe costume of Astrid from How to Train Your Dragon, complete with faux fur neckline and some sort of waist armor, the proud mama brought out her son's Toothless birthday cake with an enormous smile on her face. Her son's reaction? Well, according to her caption, she totally embarrassed him, writing: "Well, guess what. It turns out 7 is the age my kid stops thinking it's cool when I dress up for the party. #youngestchild #firsteyeroll🙄 #anyoneneedanAstrid"
We applaud her efforts, nonetheless. Looks like she put tons of planning into this, and eye rolls are part of the job!

You'll Never Watch a Marvel Film the Same Way After Seeing This Behind-the-Scenes Video
Watch a Marvel film like Avengers: Infinity War or Guardians of the Galaxy for all of one minute, and you'll realize the movies in the superhero action franchise require quite a bit of CGI to make them look the way they do. But just how much CGI? Thanks to a wildly interesting video from GamesRadar, we're beginning to find out.
Using behind-the-scenes footage from filming the blockbusters alongside the finished product from all the major films in the MCU, the video is proof that without the highly advanced CGI used to create everything from the Hulk's jawline and suspiciously plucked brows to the way Spider-Man is able to fling himself off of the top of the Washington Monument with ease, the universe we know and love simply wouldn't exist.
I mean, just look at how much detail they layer in to this shot of Gamora (Zoe Saldana) chillin' on a faraway planet!
And because we always forget that the A Star Is Born big shot is actually the voice of Rocket Raccoon, there's even footage of Bradley Cooper giving the sarcastic character his signature snark.
Watch the video above, and prepare for your jaw to hit the floor.

It Looks Like Things Are Getting More Complicated For Owen and Amelia on Grey's Anatomy
Warning: spoilers for the latest Grey's Anatomy episode ahead!
Ever since we knew Teddy would be making her return to Grey Sloan Memorial, there has been a countdown to the seemingly inevitable Amelia/Owen breakup. After all, as much as Grey's Anatomy loves a love triangle, it also loves a dramatic ending. And with these doctors, you can't get anything but!
It's not as if Teddy came back with the intentions of breaking up Owen and Amelia with her baby news. Once she's met with the realization that the two have created their own happily dysfunctional hodgepodge family with Betty Britney and her son, she's genuinely happy for them. She tells Owen about the baby, and even though it comes out during a whole different mess and doesn't go the way she intends, she's also really honest about not wanting to interfere in his relationship with Amelia. Though things are decidedly not settled, the trio seem to reach an understanding and go off to deal with their other issues - like Amelia and Owen's family life.
Related: How Grey's Anatomy Hinted at Who Owen Will Ultimately Pick in the Season Premiere
In a wacky yet typical Grey's-like turn of events, Teddy starts seeing Tom Koracick, who tends to rub everyone he meets the wrong way. To be honest, I kind of dig their relationship. Tom is intense in a douche-bro way that doesn't quite reach a point where he's irredeemable. He manages to make Teddy laugh, and he has an in with the best manicure place in Seattle. It's hard to see where Teddy could go wrong here. But unfortunately, Owen starts to act very jealous of Teddy's new relationship, right around the time Britney's parents come to bring her and Leo back home, shaking the very foundation of Owen and Amelia's relationship. It all comes to a head at Jackson's party, held to celebrate Catherine's surgery.
Having just said goodbye to Britney and Leo, Amelia is understandably feeling very vulnerable and raw. Considering she and Owen have been butting heads over everything since Britney first ran away, it's no shock that his resentful attitude regarding the loved-up Teddy and Tom rubs her entirely the wrong way. When Amelia brings up her worry that Owen still has feelings for Teddy, Meredith deals her the hard truth that Teddy will always be in Owen's life, whether they are having a baby or not. "It was this way for Cristina and it's been this way for your whole marriage . . . and your divorce," she says. "It's not going to change. Just make peace with it."
Amazingly, that piece of advice doesn't sit well with Amelia. She realizes she's not in a love triangle, she's in "a love circle," and she's not happy about it. When Owen confronts her about what he believes to be insecurity about their relationship (he literally asks her how many times he has to "choose" her before she gets it), Amelia counters with the fact that it was only a mere seven months ago that Owen confessed his love for Teddy, which resulted in her pregnancy. She points out how their relationship was reignited by the entrance of Britney and Leo, so who's to say the birth of Owen's daughter won't do the same for him and Teddy? In the end, it's too much for Amelia, and she walks away from Owen, declaring, "I need to step out of the circle . . . I'm not in it anymore."
Perfect dramatic exit, right? Of course, also in true Grey's style, that's not where it ends. After Owen's hostility toward Tom gets him punched in the face and he returns home, he finds Amelia on his doorstep. She explains that Britney and her parents brought Leo back with the intention of letting Owen and Amelia foster him, to allow Britney to grow up as a regular teenager (while recovering from a drug addiction). "[Britney] always talks about you as [Leo's] parents . . . and you are," Britney's mother explains as they return Leo to the two doctors.
The episode ends with the three - Owen, Amelia, and Leo - back together, but what does that mean exactly? Amelia tried to take herself out of the circle, and yet she's pulled back in because Britney's parents expect them to raise Leo together. Will they try to make it work again? Will Owen foster Leo by himself as Amelia watches from afar? Somehow, this episode has done nothing but land us in a bigger mess than where we started!

Personally, I think Amelia had the right idea. We've seen how sweet the pair can be when they're happy, but there are fundamental differences between them that will always cause a problem. It's obvious that Owen's feelings for Teddy are still unresolved, and for the sake of Amelia's sanity, she needs to be with someone who she doesn't feel has to "choose" her all the time, as Owen insinuated he has. She needs someone who chooses her from the get-go and doesn't waver - or she just needs to find happiness alone. Owen just seems to need Teddy. We'll have to wait to see if either of them gets their happily ever after - whether it's together or not!
The Masked Singer: A Winner Has Been Crowned! Find Out Who Was Under the Masks All Along
The Masked Singer might be the most bonkers reality show that's been on TV for some time, but nevertheless, I couldn't help but find myself fascinated by the mystery of which celebrity was lurking behind each of those bizarre, nightmarish masks that look like rejected outfits from the Spy Kids costume department.
Hosted by Nick Cannon, the Fox reality competition series is the US remake of the popular South Korean show King of Mask Singer. It began with 12 singing celebrities, with one being eliminated each week. The catch? Each of the contestants wears head-to-toe costumes, concealing every inch of their identities from not only the audience but also the panelists and other contestants. Panelists Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger, and Robin Thicke receive small hints about who the singer might be over the course of the show, then try to guess their identities.
Warning: spoilers for The Masked Singer to follow!
Now the show has finally unmasked the final three competitors! Monster, Peacock, and Bee came in first, second, and third place, respectively, and I have to say, I'm pretty satisfied with the panelist's choices. Find out who has been under those masks all along, ahead!
The Number of Carbs You Can Have on a Low-Carb Diet Is Probably More Than You Think
It seems like everyone is on a low-carb diet, but as popular as it is, low-carb is a fairly ambiguous term, especially if you've never tracked your macronutrients. What does low-carb even mean, and how can you tell if it's working for you? Those are the questions we posed to Stephanie Anklan, a registered dietitian at the CHI Saint Joseph Health Center for Weight Loss in Lexington, KY.
Like most diets, low-carb is not one-size-fits-all. You're going to have to do a little experimentation to determine what works best for you. For example, if you currently eat about 200 grams of net carbs per day - that's your total carb count minus fiber - you may try decreasing that number to 100 grams to see how you feel. (Most professionals consider "low-carb" to be anywhere between 50 and 100 grams of net carbs per day.) "If you feel fatigued and tired throughout the day or can't get through your workout, you may need to make some adjustments," Stephanie told POPSUGAR.
For example, "you may need to time your carb intake around your workouts, or you may need more carbs altogether," she said. "You have to be incredibly self-aware to properly determine your level."
Luckily, there are some simple tools that can be really helpful during this process of evaluating your carb intake. "Definitely take advantage of the free apps out there to help you track your meals and macronutrients. You can use MyFitnessPal or an app specifically designed for going low-carb," Stephanie said. "If you don't like being glued to your phone all day, good old-fashioned pen and paper will work just fine." Don't stop at tracking your meals and macro goals, though. "You need to also note how you slept, any physical activities you participated in, and how you felt throughout the day," she added. If you were extra fatigued or hungry all day, you may not be eating enough.
Stephanie pointed out that it is equally important to be savvy about where your carbs are coming from. "Everyone should be aware of where they are getting their nutrients because all carbs are not created equal. You want to get the majority of your nutrients from whole foods, not heavily processed or refined foods," she explained. If you're going low-carb, this means lots of fresh vegetables, lean protein, and healthy fats like olive oil, nuts, and avocado.
Before you dive in, know that going low-carb isn't for everyone - endurance athletes and women who are pregnant or breastfeeding both require extra energy from carbs, Stephanie explained. Otherwise, if you feel good eating fewer carbs, then it can't hurt to tweak your numbers, try some new low-carb recipes, and see where you feel best.
Watch Out, 2019: Meghan Markle Is Just Getting Started
To say that Meghan Markle has had a whirlwind couple of years is a pretty big understatement. She's hit a handful of major milestones since getting engaged to Prince Harry and experienced some pretty huge life events in 2018 alone - all while inspiring her fans, charming humans and animals, and breaking a few rules along the way. Wedding? Check. Pregnancy? In progress. Changing the face of the British royal family forever? Girl, it's been handled.
Meghan has already kicked off 2019 by announcing her royal patronages, hiring a new deputy communications secretary, and making official appearances both solo and with Harry. The couple are also expected to make their widely publicized move to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor soon - before welcoming their first child together in late April - and will be embarking on a royal tour of the US in the Fall. Last year may have been Meghan's introduction to the royal family (as well as the world), but 2019 is when we'll see the Duchess of Sussex rolling up her sleeves and getting down to business. Scroll through to see Meghan's best photos from 2019.

Kahlúa Is Selling Canned Espresso Martinis, So You Now Have My Undivided Attention
I'm all for the convenience of canned alcohol, so when I heard that Kahlúa is releasing a canned martini, my interest was piqued immediately. In honor of National Kahlúa Day, the popular coffee liqueur brand recently announced that it's releasing a new, ready-to-drink, espresso-style martini this Spring. The new drink, according to a product description, is a combination of Kahlúa, vodka, and coffee. Each can is 4.5 percent ABV and comes with a "smart nitrogen widget" that causes bubbles to form at the top of the drink in order to mimic the foam of an actual espresso once it's opened. The drinks will be available for customers to buy in four-packs this Spring.

Have You Heard About Amazon Day? It's Going to Make Your Life a Whole Lot Easier
There's nothing quite like the disappointment of expecting a package, and then it not coming on its scheduled delivery date. It can be maddening, and also make it difficult to ensure that when shipments do arrive, they won't get stolen. Well, Amazon's heard your complaints, and they're taking action. Starting right now, Amazon Prime members can take advantage of a new service called Amazon Day, which allows you to choose exactly what day you want your packages delivered. If you work from home on Fridays, you can schedule all your deliveries so you'll be able to receive them, or if you know you'll be away all day Tuesday, your packages won't arrive then.
The other great part of this news? By choosing what day you want your packages to arrive, it means your order will contain fewer separate shipments, and thereby produce less waste. No more cursing the fact that you got five different shipments from a single order! Or, if you've ordered multiple items, it'll still all come together. Amazon Day is one of the ways the company is hoping to make 50 percent of all Amazon shipments net zero carbon by 2030, and that's a mission we can get behind.
All this talk about Amazon has us inspired to place an order. So, we've rounded up some editor favorite Amazon products; think genius coffee gadgets, an essential pair of gloves, and that coat everyone can't stop talking about. Just keep reading to shop our picks!
This Is the Worst Mistake You Can Make When Cleaning Your Apartment
Last year, I moved from a small, cramped apartment that had a windowless living area to a more spacious, bright unit that's given us way more room to breathe. However, with more space comes more items, and you know what that means: more cleaning.
I'll be honest - I typically find cleaning to be a real thorn in my side. As someone with a schedule packed with meetings and a list of rotating projects, I'd much rather spend my time being productive at work than Windex-ing my bathroom mirror. Nonetheless, I know that cleaning is (obviously) necessary and something that needs to be done, especially if you want to host family or friends over for fun things such as Sunday dinners or game nights.
And I learned that the worst thing you can do when cleaning your apartment, which might be right above "tossing all of your mess into the nearest closet or drawer to give off the illusion you are tidy," is waiting until the very last minute to clean. You may know what I'm talking about - waiting until the dishes have piled up in the sink or the dirty laundry has spilled onto the floor. Or maybe it's been so long since you last sorted out your closet that all of its contents are now strewn all over your bedroom. Whatever it may look like for you, one thing is for sure: it's incredibly overwhelming.
I first discovered this mistake when I was home alone while my boyfriend was traveling over the holidays for almost three weeks. I kept telling myself that I was going to wait until right before he returned to get the apartment back into tip-top shape so I only had to clean it once. I know, wishful thinking. The reality was that even though the apartment was not in too bad of shape, I still managed to create an even bigger mess for myself. It ended up taking me hours just to clean the kitchen, organizing the living room felt like a big workout, and on top of everything else, I had to keep running to the laundromat to put in loads of clothes. I felt exhausted, foolish, and annoyed with myself that I thought I could easily clean the whole apartment in just a couple of hours.
Yes, when I'm feeling ambitious, I still sometimes make this mistake, but I've learned that there's a much easier way to go about cleaning the apartment. The trick is to take 15 minutes or so each morning or evening to tidy up. It could be as simple as taking a few moments to wipe down the counters, sweep and vacuum the floors, or even fold the laundry. This way, the mess won't continue to mount and it will be far less overwhelming. I'm still attempting to master this, but I've found at least it's better than saving everything for the last minute!
Sonic Is Selling Double Stuf Oreo Waffle Cones - So Yeah, Don't Mind If I Do
By the time you read this, I'll have already gotten up from my desk, grabbed my wallet, and headed to the nearest Sonic Drive-In to finally get my hands on one of its Double Stuf Oreo Waffle Cones. Because even though Spring hasn't sprung just yet, ice cream season is apparently whenever Sonic says it is, which is why the fast-food chain announced on Feb. 21 that the popular dessert option has officially made its way back to the menu for a limited time.
"It's BAAAACK! The Double Stuf @OREO Waffle Cone will make all your cookie and créme dreams come true," Sonic wrote on Twitter. The indulgent dessert is made with a chocolate Oreo waffle cone that's coated on the inside with Oreo crème and filled with vanilla ice cream before being topped off with even more Oreo crème and crushed Oreo pieces. The cones are currently being sold for just $3 each at participating Sonic locations, and since they'll only be around for a limited time, you might want to start sprinting to a restaurant near you.
8 Facts About Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge Coming to the Disney Parks
When Disney goes, Disney goes all out. And Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge - the new land coming to Disneyland and Walt Disney World this year - is no exception. Fans of the beloved and classic movies will be able to fully immerse themselves in the galactic world with activities like two new rides, being able to craft your own lightsabers, and shopping mysterious and unique items, including ancient Jedi artifacts. Oh, and there's tons of new food coming, including - wait for it - Blue Milk. For more fun facts about what you can expect when Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge opens later this year, keep reading.

Get Excited For Out-of-This-World Treats at Disneyland's Star Wars: Galaxy Edge Land
In a galaxy far, far away . . . Han and Chewy definitely pulled over in the Millennium Falcon for some galactic grub - and now you can, too! For Star Wars fans who haven't quite gotten the hang of navigating cosmic hyperplanes, Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge is bringing the intergalactic space food to you. A highly anticipated upcoming attraction, Disney's Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge land will be the largest single-themed land expansion at both Disneyland park and Disney's Hollywood Studios, introducing immersive new rides and new cuisine.
Once you've made a smuggler's run on the Millennium Falcon, you'll be able to stop by any of five locations around the park to taste foods from all different quadrants of the galaxy. Kat Saka's Kettle is the perfect stop for some sweet and salty Outpost mix popcorn, while Ronto's Roasters offers up a delicious spicy pork wrap, and Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo even serves up a raspberry creme puff (a lot like a portion bread) that's supposed to be out of this world. And, because cows and chickens don't actually exist in outer space, each of the park's dining destinations will offer up space-themed substitutes - including fried Endorian tip-yip (chicken), kaadu ribs (pork), and a bantha milk bar (which serves plant-based milk).
But the best part about the Star Wars land culinary experience will probably be Oga's Cantina, the go-to intergalactic watering hole for Jedi warriors and smugglers alike. There, visitors will be able to sip on variations of familiar earthly alcoholic drinks served in unique drinking vessels - including Fuzzy Tauntauns (fuzzy foam cocktail), Jedi Mind Tricks (bitter, grapefruit cocktail), Jet Juice, and White Wampa Ale. Nonalcoholic options will include Jabba Juice, Carbon Freeze, and Tarine Tea.
The Disneyland park location will open this Summer, while park-goers at Disney's Hollywood Studios will have to wait until the Fall to experience this fully immersive space dining experience. The opening date may seem like it's light years in the future, but it looks like Galaxy's Edge will be worth the wait for a long-awaited taste of Luke Skywalker's favorite blue drink.

Let's be real: every household has a ruler. It's the one who barks and immediately gets fed. The one who sits down and gets their belly rubbed without having to say a peep.
