Meghan Makes a Statement in Her $345 Monochrome Print Dress
Meghan Markle ended a busy week of royal engagements with perhaps the most important one of all: she appeared as part of a star-studded panel discussion on International Women's Day. The event, organized by the Queen's Commonwealth Trust, saw Meghan joined by a host of international talent to discuss various issues affecting modern women. Of course, for such an important occasion, Meghan wore an outfit that meant business.
Though the clothes were by no means the focus of this powerful event, the Duchess of Sussex is no stranger to the importance of dressing for success. She is patron of SmartWorks, a charity that helps long-term unemployed and vulnerable women regain skills for the workforce. Part of this involves providing them with interview outfits free of charge. Meghan has donated her own items to the cause and even even tried her hand at providing styling advice. She knows that the right outfit can convey a strong message and help women feel empowered, and it definitely felt like that was what she was doing on Friday.
Meghan wore a striking $345 Azzura swirl-print dress by Reiss, topped with a sharp black blazer by Alexander McQueen. Her trusty Manolo Blahnik BB Pumps and a Stella McCartney clutch finished the look. Keep reading to take a closer look and to shop the dress for yourself.

Trader Joe's Buffalo Style Hummus Is Here to Spice Up Snack Time, and We. Are. Ready.
Gather around, snack-lovers: we've got a new dip to add to our regimen, and it's a game changer. After years of dipping carrots, celery, and pita chips into every variation of hummus that comes to mind, the new Organic Buffalo Style Hummus from Trader Joe's might just surpass them all. Maybe it's the fact that it tastes like buffalo wings, or because of the spicy kick we all love so much, but either way, the new $3 product has Trader Joe's shoppers running to grab a few containers at once.
The product was spotted by avid TJ shoppers on Instagram, and the reviews are already pouring in. Some are saying it's really spicy, but others have agreed that the texture is ideal for celery stick-dipping. "This hummus definitely has a spicy kick, which completely masks the inherent flavor of the chickpeas, and tricked me into eating about half the container like it was a bowl of queso. It's not dry or too chunky, either," stated one review on The Kitchn. And if you're looking for more than just a dip, another person commented, "I made buffalo chicken wraps with this with the traders chicken tenders and [blue] cheese. It was amazing!"
Well, it looks like snack time just got a whole lot spicier, and we're not complaining! See how people are loving the new Trader Joe's dip ahead, and be inspired to spice up your meals with the Buffalo Style Hummus.

Here's a List of Everything You Need to Do After You Change Your Name Post-Wedding
One thing that can put a damper on your post-wedding buzz is all the confusion that comes with changing your maiden name to your new married name. Sure, the actual process of changing your name is pretty simple, but then you're faced with having to change your personal information basically everywhere (*cue the freak out*).
Figuring out where to start and trying to remember everything you need to do when you get a new last name can be daunting, so we've made a handy to-do list for you. The easiest thing to do is to start with your legal obligations first - the stuff that must have your correct, up-to-date name on it - before tackling the more fun stuff, like social media. Work your way down the following list so that you can officially start living that Mrs. life!
- Update your social security information. You'll keep the same number but your name will be changed on your new card.
- Change your driver's license. To do this, you'll need your current license, your marriage certificate, and your new updated social security card.
- Get a new passport.
- Change your name on any bank accounts that you have.
- Get new credit or debit cards.
- If you use checks, order new ones.
- Make sure your work place has a note of your name change for wage and tax purposes.
- Update your information on the electoral register.
- If you have a pension or mortgage, both of these will need to be updated with your current name.
- Any bills or direct debits that you pay will need a note of the change.
- Do you pay for breakdown coverage on your car? If so, give them a call and update your details.
- Notify all of your doctors' offices.
- Update any membership details, like gyms or magazine subscriptions.
- If you want to, update your personal and work email addresses.
- And lastly, change all the social media sites you use to display your new last name.
My House Is Literally Swathed in Dog Hair, and This $13 Item Gets It All
I'm pretty sure my 10-year-old Golden Retriever's entire goal in life is to shed as much of her long hair as possible. If she can do it in such a way that she can create a forceful breeze with her tail and get a ball of hair to float up and land on the couch, well, then she's really done her day's work. The vacuum certainly does its job on hard wood, but so much hair just sticks to fabric that I never get it all up . . . until now.
The Evercare Pet Mega Floor Lint Roller ($13) lets you roll up pet hair and other dirt off of rugs, carpets, couches, and blankets - all of which can be difficult to vacuum (ever tried to vacuum a blanket? You can't!). It comes with 25 sheets, and you just peel them off when you're done. The handle is extendable so you can adjust it to meet your needs.

I've Started to Cancel All My Weekend Plans to Focus on Self-Care, and It's Incredible
I've struggled with weekend anxiety my entire adult life. The feeling that I should be out doing something: networking, attending industry events, or merely dressing up and hitting the town with my girlfriends because I'm young and that's what you do when you're young. Besides, if I'm not out taking advantage of everything New York City has to offer, why am I spending half of my annual income on an apartment the size of my parents' bedroom?
It's so much more than the FOMO effect (which is still present). I actually feel anxious and guilty if I turn down invitations when I don't have any other plans in the books. The problem with this fear of saying no is it completely wears me out. The holiday season is always an anxiety-ridden time for me (holiday parties, family commitments, constantly attempting to be available for everything so I don't let anyone down), and I went into January with a completely packed schedule. I was quickly approaching burnout mode when my fiancé suggested (lovingly but sternly) that I take the weekend to do nothing.
Nothing? It was a foreign concept. But he was going out of town for business, and I would have the apartment to myself. So, I decided to cancel all my weekend plans and focus on self-care. Because frankly, I was exhausted.
Step one: put down my damn phone. I vowed to stay off social media for 48 hours and only pick up my phone with intent, like sending a quick text to my partner or mom.
Hanging out by myself every once in a while is rejuvenating. It was freeing to not be on a schedule.
Step two: slow down, breathe, and relax. As one of those millennials who feels like they have 17 million different jobs and projects in the air at all times, I'm constantly reading advice books and columns about how to be more productive, make more money, or become more skilled. This weekend? I read a fiction novel - one that made no mention of Roth IRAs, Instagram growth tips, or how your personality type influences your professional success. It had been sitting on my bedside table, unopened, for about six months.
My weekend breakfast routine typically consists of an egg-white wrap on the go, but this particular morning, I decided to whip out the frying pan and try my hand at breakfast for one. And, no offense to my local deli, but I discovered that I make a mean egg-and-turkey panini. Later I took a yoga class, followed by a long, leisurely walk around my neighborhood (sans phone). I stopped in my local coffee shop, aforementioned novel in tow, and read for almost two hours over a chicory cold brew. That night, I opened my laptop for the first time all weekend to write - not because I was on a deadline, but because I was feeling inspired.
Sunday consisted of another delicious breakfast panini, a crossword puzzle, and a whole lot of R&R. All weekend, I ignored any texts asking where I was or what I was doing. The responses could wait until Monday. It was a glorious two days.
Going into the weekend, I feared that not only would I feel guilty or that I was missing out, but that I would get bored spending 48 hours with me, myself, and I. To my surprise, I was completely misguided. It felt good. In a city like the Big Apple, when minutes disappear in a matter of seconds and so many things are constantly going on around you, I discovered how important it is to slow down, check in with yourself, and take the time to focus on doing the little things that refill your well. I'm an extrovert, yes, but I realized that hanging out by myself every once in a while is rejuvenating. It was freeing to not be on a schedule. My to-do list consisted of one singular task: to relax. Come Monday, I felt rested and ready to take on the world again.
I think I'll do this more often.
Mindy Kaling Ranking Random Oreo Flavors Is the Type of Content We Needed Today
When Mindy Kaling found out it was National Oreo Day on March 6, she did what any self-respecting Oreo-lover would do: she ranked random flavors. She shared a delightful Instagram Story with riveting real-time reviews of six of the most memorable Oreos: Birthday Cake, Mint, Lemon, Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie, Red Velvet, and - newest to the club - Most Stuf. No, this was not sponsored, and yes, Mindy really does just love Oreos as much as you do (reason 4,567 she's relatable).
"Believe it or not, this is like one-third of the amount of Oreo cookies that are actually out there, but I couldn't imagine being able to eat 50 Oreo cookies in a sitting, so this is our sampling," Mindy said. (Fan-favorite S'mores Oreos were not invited to the party, but that's because they don't return until Spring). The actress went one by one and delivered an honest review of each cookie, and if you've tried 'em all, you'll probably agree. See snaps from her funny Instagram Story ahead, which ends with an obvious winner.

This Surprise Proposal at the Eiffel Tower Has an Astonishing Twist That You Won't See Coming
Melissa and Vishal met and started dating in Singapore; however, there is a twist in the story: when the couple met, Vishal was in the middle of a big move to Poland. But they really liked each other and decided to not let the distance get the best of them. Besides, the two are huge travel junkies and during the course of their relationship they visited a range of countries including Indonesia, India, Poland, Germany and Czech Republic where they created lovely memories and embarked on spectacular adventures.
It only made sense that this pair of globetrotters got engaged in an international location, and Paris is the pinnacle of romance. So it was fitting that this was the place where the Vishal popped the question, and photographer Pierre was there to capture the moment. "When we decided to get some photos taken in Paris I contacted Pierre 'in secret' a couple of weeks earlier and told him about my intentions of proposing and wanting it to keep it as a surprise", said Vishal.
However, Vishal was not the only one with a few tricks up his sleeve, and, boy, was he in for a surprise! "I had a gut feeling he had planned something," said Melissa. "Besides saying yes to him, I also wanted to let him know that I chose him, and I also wanted to ask him to be mine for life." So, Melissa bought a titanium ring and had her own counterproposal after she said yes to Vishal.
It was a marvelous day and the photos are absolutely beautiful, just like the story behind it, so make sure to check them out!

This INSANE Edited Photo of the Super Moon Looks Straight Out of Star Wars
If you, like me, have spent your entire life admiring the natural cosmic beauty of the moon, then this picture is about to completely blow you away. Dedicated space-lovers captured some truly breathtaking shots of February's Super Snow Moon, but one photographer took his love for space and photography a step further by editing his picture to create a colorful image of Earth's moon. Yes, the moon actually has some colors (these ones are just digitally enhanced)!
This incredible snapshot was captured and edited by space enthusiast and self-taught photographer Andrew McCarthy (Cosmic_background on Instagram), who planned for weeks to snap the picture and has since edited four versions of the super moon photo, making it look like a planet straight out of Star Wars.
"Our eyes are not sensitive enough to discern the various colors in the lunar regolith," McCarthy told POPSUGAR via email. "So, to me, being able to pull so much depth out of an otherwise flat image feels like having a superpower." According to NASA, lunar regolith (aka lunar soil) varies in color as a result of different levels of iron and titanium present in the soil. While these variations are typically subtle to the human eye, McCarthy's color-embellished photo exaggerates the differences to create explosions of color across the surface of the moon. As McCarthy explained in one of his Reddit posts, he "extracted the color data from 150k images of the moon so you can see where impacts 'paint' the moon with different minerals."
"Being able to pull so much depth out of an otherwise flat image feels like having a superpower."
The entire photography process takes several hours of patience and involves snapping thousands of photos from all different angles to stack them together and edit the pictures into one high-quality image. "I'll check atmospheric conditions and weather reports, make sure seeing is good, skies are clear, and humidity won't be too bad. This is days in advance," McCarthy explained. "My biggest challenge is the light pollution out here, and the accessibility of dark skies. To get the best views of some objects, I need to drive for hours, set up my gear in the freezing cold, and hope all my batteries last long enough to capture something great."
McCarthy is a business operations manager for a software company from Elk Grove, CA, but his love for space - particularly the moon - inspired him to transform an already amazing closeup of the super moon into a colorful work of art that is truly making me question everything I know about my favorite space rock. "My goal from these images is to get people to stop and appreciate the natural beauty in our skies, and it is incredibly rewarding that I have accomplished that," McCarthy said. And, as if his photo isn't already mind-blowingly cool, you can check out the high-definiton version on McCarthy's Reddit page. Keep reading to see a comparison of McCarthy's original super moon photo as well as the color-embellished version.

You Can Hydrate and Fill Up on Protein at the Same Time With This New Collagen Water
Incorporating collagen into your diet has become an increasingly popular part of wellness routines, and now the trend has collided with bottled water. Vital Proteins just launched its first ready-to-drink beverage, and each 12-ounce bottle packs a collagen punch - 10 grams, to be exact. The Collagen Water ($4.50 each) comes in five refreshing flavors: Original (a "citrus twist on a neutral taste"), Strawberry Lemon, Blackberry Hibiscus, Lemon Ginger, and Blueberry Mint, each with 60 or fewer calories. The water is dairy- and gluten-free, has three or fewer grams of sugar, and is made without artificial colors or sweeteners (shout-out to monk fruit extract for a touch of natural sweetness).
You might already be familiar with the popular Vital Proteins collagen peptides, which some of our editors add to smoothies, water, and coffee. Collagen has many of the same benefits as protein powder but without the same taste that some people find overbearing. In addition, the protein-packed substance can help support healthy hair, nails, bones, and joints. Drinking it in bottled-water form eliminates an extra step of scooping and stirring, so consider me on board.
As a reminder, Vital Proteins collagen is not vegetarian or vegan because it's made from grass-fed, pasture-raised cattle (collagen is found in our bodies, too). If you're already hooked on its benefits, get up close with the new waters ahead, and shop for them online and on store shelves later this spring.

3 Experts Explain the Complicated Facts Behind the Nighttime Workout Debate
I do squats in the bathroom while the shower gets hot (don't you?) and sometimes, very carefully, in the shower. Some nights, you can find me, headphones in, pajamas on, lifting weights bedside when I'm too tired to change into leggings and head downstairs to my equipment-filled basement. Want to know another one of my exercise habits? My workouts don't start until 10 p.m. during the work week (I have to fit in HIIT or quick cardio somehow). A lot of conflicting studies exist out there on late-night exercise and its effects on sleep and the body. So, for my own sake - and maybe yours, too - I wanted to get to the bottom of it.
Does Working Out at Night Affect Sleep?
Rebecca Robbins, PhD, sleep researcher at NYU Langone Health, explained to POPSUGAR that there are two different perspectives in her line of work: one discourages nighttime exercise based on evidence that shows that your heart rate goes up because "you're doing something stimulating" before bed. Janet K. Kennedy, PhD, clinical psychologist and founder of NYC Sleep Doctor, further elaborated, "Approximately two hours before sleep, the body temperature naturally starts to drop. Exercising too late can delay that and also delay the release of melatonin, so it can be harder to fall asleep at bedtime."
"Then, the other school of thought is based on some interesting evidence that shows there might not be too much detriment to exercising close to bed," Dr. Robbins said. In fact, studies have found that nighttime workouts have no effect on sleep quality. "Overall, I think we can certainly say with great confidence that exercise is part of a healthy sleep schedule," Dr. Robbins continued. "Exercise reduces stress because it increases endorphins, which are mood elevators. There are so many benefits, and from a sleep standpoint, people who exercise get better sleep at night."
When Is the Latest You Can Work Out?
A good rule of thumb, Dr. Kennedy said, is to finish workouts, "especially intense workouts," at least four hours before bedtime. She continued, "There are some individual differences in how the body cools down after exercise, and the best way to determine the minimum amount of cooldown time before bed is to test it." She recommends working out at different times and keeping a sleep diary to see whether it impacts the time it takes to fall asleep. "On nights when you don't have enough time for a cooldown, you can still do lower-impact exercise," she said.
Again, Dr. Robbins explained, it also depends on who you ask. Past experts have told us that you shouldn't work out after 8 p.m. The National Sleep Foundation advises that you avoid "strenuous workouts in the late evening or right before bed," though it notes that if nighttime workouts don't affect your sleep, there's no need to change your routine.
So, When Is the Best Time of Day to Work Out?
According to John Dale, a board-certified sports physical therapist at Johns Hopkins and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, your coordination, stamina, and lung performance are "best in the evening, and that's also when your flexibility, pain tolerance, and strength are at their greatest." So, he advised, you might want to strength-train then. When asked what time of day our muscles respond best to working out, he said late afternoon or early evening because "your pain tolerance is at its highest, and your perceived exertion is at its lowest. You might be able to have a little harder workout, which might lead to better strength gains or cardio improvement depending on what you're looking for."
From a sleep perspective, Dr. Robbins said, "I think the optimal time for exercise, just to reap the benefits of those endorphins releasing, would probably be in the early afternoon." And, if you notice that working out later in the day keeps you from falling asleep, she said, you might want to consider hitting the gym between 4 and 7 p.m. so you don't "run the risk of increasing your heart rate too much." That's not to say that morning workouts are bad. In fact, Dr. Dale noted that, in the morning, "testosterone is shown to be at higher levels, and you're most mentally alert." Both he and Dr. Robbins ultimately want you to know that it really does boil down to listening to your body.
Pro Tip: See What Works For You
According to Dr. Kennedy's four-hours-before-bed rule, I should be starting my workout at 7 p.m. the latest (given that I exercise for about an hour and my bedtime is usually midnight). Unfortunately, that isn't realistic for me and my schedule during the work week, but the general consensus from these experts is that figuring out what you respond best to is essential. If you're motivated at night, then "follow your rhythm," as Dr. Robbins said. Dr. Dale pointed out that some people, himself included, like morning workouts simply because it's the only time of day they know they'll get it done.
When asked what she thought about my 10 p.m. workouts specifically, Dr. Robbins said, "If that's the only time you're able to exercise, I'd say do it, especially if you're doing something that's maybe low impact." She did suggest, however, taking advantage of workouts on the weekends more. Dr. Dale told me the most important thing is consistency: "I would much rather have someone say, 'I can be more consistent with going to work out at 10 at night than I can at six in the morning.'" He also emphasized the importance of recovery and advises against working out late at night and waking up early the next day to exercise again. So, will I be adjusting my routine? I'm thinking about it, but when it comes to listening to your body, you don't have to tell me twice.
Break a Sweat in Misty Copeland's New Under Armour Collection For Uncontainable Women
Not only is Misty Copeland one of the best ballerinas in the world, she's a champion for all women. Being that she spends multiple hours a day training, Misty knows the importance of functional workout gear. Keeping performance and style in mind, Misty and Under Armour recently released her third workout collection.
In a press release, Under Armour said the collection is "for the many other uncontainable women out there - those who wear many hats, who stand out in a room and who make their presence known." The collection is all about style and performance, and is made from a performance-based fabric, the designers explained at a brunch ahead of the launch.
When designing the collection, Misty and the Under Armour team focused on creating seamless, comfortable, supportive, and versatile pieces. "It's extremely important for me. As a ballerina, if I do dance in these clothes in rehearsal, if I'm being partnered, I can't have anything that's going to get in the way," she said. Misty loves all the pieces, but shared that one of her favorites are the high-waisted leggings. "It's just become a staple in the line now. It's the base we work from," she said.
Check out the images from her collection ahead. All 13 pieces are available for purchase on the Under Armour website and at select Macy's stores.

This Gluten-Free Granola Tastes Exactly Like Cake and Has Less Than 10 Grams of Sugar
When you open a bag of Safe + Fair Birthday Cake Granola, you'll instantly get the urge to blow out your candles; the sweet aroma brings you way back to icing and party hat days. But what makes this granola special is that it smells and tastes exactly like cake without the calories, sugar, and fat your favorite frosted slice most likely has. Safe + Fair granola is free from the FDA's eight major food allergens, what Safe + Fair calls the "Top 8": peanuts, tree nuts, milk, egg, wheat, soy, shellfish, and fish. It's vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free.
There are no artificial ingredients. In fact, the sprinkles in the Birthday Cake granola are naturally colored and contain cane sugar, vegetable juice, and turmeric, among other things. (Note: if you're wondering, "Isn't all granola vegan?" you're not alone. As my vegan friend so kindly informed me, most granola is vegan, but some brands put milk products in their recipes, so you have to check labels to make sure.)
A one-third cup serving contains 130 calories, four-and-a-half grams of fat, 21 grams of total carbs, one gram of dietary fiber, nine grams of total sugars, and two grams of protein. I had the granola straight out of the bag, and ever since in my afternoon yogurt. It's not too crunchy, not too soft, and it'll certainly try to take the cake for the best granola you've ever had. Safe + Fair also sells Blueberry Cinnamon, Chocolate, and Sweet & Salty Kettle flavors, and 12-ounce bags are available for $5 on safeandfair.com. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go grab a slice (I mean, bowl).
Here's How Sleep Helps You Lose Weight - and How Many Calories the Zzz's Alone Burn
Whenever you approach a new weight-loss plan, the first things that likely come to mind are diet and exercise. While those two are certainly key to achieving results, there's another factor that can have a significant effect: quantity and quality of sleep. Those precious hours of rest can help prevent overeating, making it that much easier to create a calorie deficit - but, fun fact, you also burn calories as you sleep, though just how many varies from person to person.
According to a study in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition, you can estimate how many calories you burn while sleeping by first calculating your basal metabolic rate (the number of calories your body needs to function at rest), and dividing that number by 24 (the number of hours in a day). One way to determine your BMR is by using the Harris-Benedict formula, which is based on your weight, height, age, and sex. For a woman, the calculation is:
BMR = 655 + (1.8 x height in centimeters) + (9.6 x weight in kilograms) - (4.7 x age in years)
For example, a 35-year-old woman who is 5'4" tall and weighs 120 pounds has a BMR of roughly 1,305 calories per day. Divide that number by 24, and she burns about 54 calories per hour while sleeping.
The more you exercise and the more muscle you build, the more calories you'll burn at rest. But working to get your seven to eight hours can also help fuel those efforts, as quality sleep is key for efficient muscle recovery and overall strength building, Josh Holland, an NASM-certified trainer and cofounder of SystimFit and 432 House in New York City, told POPSUGAR.
"Lack of sleep makes it challenging for your body to recover from exercise and lose weight by decreasing growth hormone and increasing the stress hormone cortisol," added Holly Roser, an NASM-certified personal trainer and fitness nutrition specialist in New York City and San Francisco. At the same time, too little sleep can disrupt the hormones ghrelin and leptin, which signal to the body when you're hungry or full, she explained. In other words, it slows muscle building, while putting you at risk for cravings, stress or otherwise.
So, if you want to boost your metabolism and burn more calories - while feeling more energized and in control - it's best to start with a solid night's sleep.
If You Want to Shed Fat and Build Muscle, a Dietitian Recommends These 6 Foods
It's no secret that diet is crucial to most fitness goals, whether you're looking to burn fat, gain muscle, or both. "Abs are made in the kitchen," after all; you have to work to build the muscles and shed the fat on top of them if you want them visible, and the right eating plan is key to both of those goals. So what food should you be stocking up on to do just that?
Low-Carb Foods to Help Burn Fat
"Not having lots of carbs, especially from sugar, can help you burn fat," said registered dietitian Kristin Kirkpatrick of the Cleveland Clinic's Wellness Institute. She explained that when it comes to diet, fat loss isn't so much about the exact foods you eat, but making sure you get the right levels of macronutrients - that is, protein, fat, and carbs - while depleting your body's glucose stores. "Glucose is the body's preferred fuel," she told POPSUGAR, and carbs break down into glucose - aka sugar - in your body. Eating fewer carbs gives your body less sugar to work with. To get the energy you need, you'll start burning fat instead.
Protein Will Help Build Muscles
No surprise here. Kristin confirmed that if you're looking to build muscle, protein is crucial. That's because it's made from amino acids, which she said are helpful post-workout, when your muscle fibers are broken down. The amount of protein you need depends on a few different factors, Kristin said, including the kind of workout you're doing (cardio vs. resistance training) and its length.
Low-Carb, High Protein Foods
If you're trying to both burn fat and build muscle, you'll be looking for foods that are brimming with protein and low in carbs. Kristin highlighted six that are good to add to your cabinet:
- Nut butters
- High-protein, low-carb energy bars
- Full-fat dairy
- Meat
- Tofu
- Beans
Two other strategies can help lose fat and build muscle: intermittent fasting and tracking macros. IF has been shown to protect muscle mass, Kristin said, and she added that some studies have shown that working out in the morning before you eat can bump you into a fat-burning zone.
Hitting your macros is also key - and more important than counting calories. That's what makes the keto diet so popular, Kristin said: "Calories are sky-high, yet people lose weight."
While keto and IF might not be for you, incorporating Kristin's six key foods into your diet, whatever it is, is an effective way to start shedding body fat and building your muscles.
