Give These DIY Shower Bombs to Help Perk Up a Pal's Morning

Have a hard time waking up? Simply toss one of these shower bombs in your shower and enjoy the enveloping smells that help start your day on a high note. Made with vibrant-smelling essential oils combined with baking soda, the shower bombs elevate mornings to a whole new level. Plus, a collection of these homemade shower bombs would also make a great gift for someone you love.

What You Need:

  • Small mixing bowl
  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1/2 cup citric acid
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 30 drops orange essential oil
  • 30 drops lavender essential oil
  • 30 drops lemongrass essential oil
  • Spray bottle filled with water
  • Silicone mold

Directions:

  1. Mix together the baking soda, citric acid, and cornstarch in a small mixing bowl, breaking up any lumps. The baking soda and cornstarch help hold together the bombs, while the citric acid gives the refreshers a bit of fizz.

  1. Now press into silicone molds, and let set until dry, which can take up to eight hours. Carefully pop out of molds.
  1. The next time you need a bit of rejuvenation, toss a shower bomb in the bottom of your shower and enjoy the wonderful scent. You can even add to a bath for an invigorating soak.

Can You Feel the Magic? This Couple's Disney-Inspired Wedding Is What Dreams Are Made Of

When Nathan proposed to Dana at Disneyland, "The Happiest Place on Earth" lived up to its motto, taking on even more special significance to the couple. With a shared love for all things Disney, the couple decided to include sweet nods to the world of Walt Disney by adding small details to their special day. Their wedding was held outside at a beautiful private residence in Mesa, AZ, complete with an open bar with Disney-themed signature cockails for the bride and groom - the "Tinker Tonic" and the "Jack Sparrow" - a rose-covered arbor with a white chandelier, and so many more enchanting touches.

"They brought the Disney magic to their wedding by incorporating little Mickeys into the bouquets, adding a special saying on Dana's shoe in the Disney font, and even had all the tables at the reception named after the different rides at Disneyland. Dana was an absolute princess on her wedding day. Her hair reminded us and all her guests of either Queen Elsa or Princess Rapunzel!" said wedding photographer Kevin Lane who captured the big day.

Including everything from a sweet letter to the father of the bride to a dreamy "happily ever after" cake, Nathan and Dana's wedding day was as magical as one could wish for. Take a look at their wedding ahead, and just wait until you see Nathan's face as he watches his bride walk down the aisle.

The True Story Behind "Love You Forever" Makes the Sweet Book Even More Emotional

You know the song already:
"I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
as long as I'm living,
my baby you'll be."

That's the words to "Love You Forever," the special song at the center of Robert Munsch's book of the same name. The children's book is one of the most recognizable titles for kids, but it's always stirred some mixed emotions. The crux of the story is pretty simple: a mother starts singing this song to her son when he's a baby, and then the story follows him through all the stages of his life. At every step of the way, his mother is there, singing him to sleep with their special song - even after he's married, moved out, and has kids of his own.

It's easy to see why this story evokes so many complicated emotions: is it a tribute to the unending love of mothers, or a slightly cringey story about a mother who can't let go even when her child is long since grown up? If you fall into the latter camp, though, you might be interested to know that the story was first imagined as something quite different.

Munsch's website reveals the true story behind the song and the book - and it's actually based in a very personal tragedy he and his wife went through. He says, "I made that [song] up after my wife and I had two babies born dead. The song was my song to my dead babies. For a long time I had it in my head and I couldn't even sing it because every time I tried to sing it I cried. It was very strange having a song in my head that I couldn't sing. For a long time it was just a song but one day, while telling stories at a big theatre at the University of Guelph, it occurred to me that I might be able to make a story around the song. Out popped 'Love You Forever,' pretty much the way it is in the book."

Even though it was written as a children's book, the book became a much bigger phenomenon than just something for kids. In fact, he explains, adults - specifically, older adults - were among the biggest fans!

"Grownups are buying it for grownups! In fact, it turned out that parents buy it for grandparents and grandparents buy it for parents and kids buy it for everybody and everybody buys it for kids. As a matter of fact, everybody buys it for everybody." Knowing the real story behind how Love You Forever started, it's a lot more emotional as a lullaby from all parents to all their children, even the ones they never got to sing to sleep.

Keep reading to see how parents have been sharing their own experiences with Love You Forever, plus how you can get your own copy!

You Can Use a Menstrual Cup Even If You Have an IUD, but Take This Advice

Menstrual cups and IUDs are both safe, convenient, and effective - but can you use them together, without running the risk that the IUD could move or even fall out? The short answer is yes, but you'll need to take some precautions.

"IUDs and menstrual cups can be used concurrently," Kecia Gaither, MD, MPH, FACOG, an ob-gyn and the director of perinatal services at NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln, told POPSUGAR. In fact, a 2012 study found no evidence that an IUD was more likely to be expelled when using a menstrual cup.

Still, it can't hurt to give your IUD time to settle in. "IUDs are most likely to dislodge during the first two months after insertion," Kelly Kasper, MD, an ob-gyn with Indiana University Health, told POPSUGAR. "You should wait for two cycles after having the IUD placed to start using a menstrual cup."

Once that time has passed, just be careful when removing your menstrual cup. IUDs have two strings that hang down through the opening of the cervix. Because your cervix sits lower during your period, if your strings are longer, they could get caught between the cup and your vaginal wall. "Thus you should exercise caution and feel around the base of the menstrual cup for the IUD string before removing it," Dr. Gaither explained.

One you've ensured that the string isn't trapped, you just have to be mindful of the cup's suction. "When you remove the cup, make certain to release the seal on the cup before taking it out," Dr. Kasper advised. Manufacturers recommend pinching the base or reaching up and pressing the rim of the cup to release the seal before removal.

Halsey's Floral Ruffled Gown and Butterfly Rings Are Just So Groovy, Baby

Halsey must've been in a '70s mood when she dreamed up her look for the 2019 American Music Awards. Her floral SS20 Marc Jacobs gown and rainbow eye makeup attracted our full attention when she hit the red carpet, posing for the cameras to show off all the little details. Zoom in close, and you'll see Halsey's wearing coordinating butterfly rings on both middle fingers and snowflake-like circle earrings to add a little bit more shine. Halsey's chiffon ruffles only slightly distracted us from the fact that her skirt was sheer, so you could see her satin briefs straight through the dress. But Halsey kept the outfit romantic - she looked like a rainbow goddess, and that's plain to see. Scroll to see her stunning fashion moment from every angle.

Lizzo Really Showed Up to the AMAs Looking Like Wealth and Success

She completed the look with heels, glimmering silver nails, and a teeny-tiny Valentino purse. Lizzo is up for three awards: new artist of the year, favorite soul/R&B female artist, and favorite soul/R&B song for her hit "Juice." She'll also be taking the stage for her first-ever AMAs performance, and we know she's going to bring positive vibes.

"I just want people to feel good," she said in a red carpet interview. "My music is like the definition of feel-good music and you know, we all go through it . . . and I feel like my music just helps people get through the bullsh*t." She went on to say that she's "feeling good as hell" about her upcoming performance, and so are we! Look ahead to see all the photos from Lizzo's exciting evening.
