This Day-Care Worker Was Fired After Posting a Superinappropriate Snapchat

Back in the olden days, frustrated workers would come home or hit the local pub to vent about their jobs. In 2016, however, people have taken to social media as their main outlet for work-related complaints. But as multiple day-care workers can attest, publicly posting negative sentiments about the workplace can result in serious consequences. One such day-care employee, a 19-year-old from Mesa, AZ, learned this the hard way after posting an inappropriate Snap to her Snapchat story - featuring her middle finger in front of a toddler's face with the caption "swear I love kids!" The Snap unsurprisingly resulted in the employee's termination.

"She was crying and saying she'd made a mistake," Dorothy Thornton, owner of the Mesa day-care center Kids Play, told local news outlets about confronting the Snap-happy worker. While Thornton indicated that she felt pity for the teenager, who had worked at Kids Play for around seven months, she had no choice but to fire her for such inappropriate behavior. Considering how parents would feel if they saw such a post, it's no shock that the young woman was immediately let go after another co-worker reported the offensive Snap.

Next time you have a qualm with some annoying aspect of your job, consider keeping a diary or respectfully approaching your employer about it . . . basically, do anything but post about it online. Your résumé (and bank account) will thank you.
