Couple Mysteriously Receives Hundreds of Letters Addressed to Santa and Seeks to Fulfill Them All

For the last few years, Jim Glaub's mailbox would mysteriously fill up with letters addressed to Santa every holiday season. We know what you're thinking, and no, he doesn't live on the North Pole, he lives in Manhattan on 22nd street, and his apartment has been claimed as the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Claus. Previous tenants had gotten a few letters here and there, and the first two years Jim received the mail he "didn't really think anything of it." "I was like, 'Oh, sorry - wrong number,'" he told People.

In 2010, things changed and Jim received around 450 letters. Jim and his now-husband of four years, Dylan Parker, had no idea what to do with all of the requests, so they used the power of social media to make sure all the hopeful children had their Christmas prayers answered. Strangely enough, all the letters the couple was receiving were from local New York families in need, and that's why they felt so compelled to help.

Jim and Dylan's filmmaker friends created a short film for Redglass Pictures about the couple and their overflowing mailbox, which was picked up by The New York Times and helped spread their mission. In 2010, they were able to fulfill 150 of the 450 letters they received. Over the last six years, the letters haven't stopped, and though the couple has since moved out of that apartment, they have turned this mysterious miracle into an international project. With the help of social media, every single letter has been answered by people all over the world.

They created the Miracle on 22nd Street Facebook group, where people volunteer to help and fulfill a randomly selected child's Christmas wishes. "It's just so strange! It's caused this global effort!" Jim said. "We've had people from Hawaii to Alaska, Germany to London, Nicaragua, Abu Dhabi, Tokyo - all helping. I guess that's the power of social media. Why would a woman from Abu Dhabi care about some family from Corona, Queens? It's amazing."

Check out how to get involved with the Miracle on 22nd Street Facebook group.
