The sisters spoke to InStyle in a new interview, revealing details about their design process and their strong love for vintage shopping:
"There's something nice about knowing you are the only person in the world who has it. It's sort of like buying art. For everything that we call modern today, think about pieces made in the '20s and how modern they looked then and now," Mary-Kate said.
"Quality and scarcity. You look at these pieces and you have an emotional reaction, not just because they are pretty objects, but because they look and feel different from what is possible to do currently," Ashley explained.
Aha! So that's why the pair tends to appear granny-chic, oftentimes slipping into oversize silhouettes. The bonus? Designer dresses tend to be marked down when they come from past collections.
