What Would Lois Lane's Facebook Reveal to Her? This Artwork Finds Out

Superman might have had a much harder time concealing his identity if Facebook existed in his fictional universe, something a clever drawing going viral depicts. The drawing, shown below, comes from an Australian artist who uses the pseudonym Brakken. It depicts Lois Lane innocently uploading a photo of herself with Superman, except Facebook's face recognition feature mistakes Superman for Clark Kent, thus revealing his true identity.

The clever drawing has since been shared more than 100,000 times on Tumblr. Following its success, the artist took to Tumblr to explain what inspired him and provide additional context. He wrote, "The inspiration for the image came from noticing Facebook's accuracy in identifying facial features in photos. . . . It made me remark on the evolution of technology, and the recurring tropes/themes in comic characters - particularly that of Superman's identity."

Additionally, Brakken clarified that the drawing was in no way meant to belittle Lois Lane's intelligence. Instead, it was an expression of his amusement with Clark Kent's disguise and how quickly modern technology could undermine it. He wrote, "Taking the rule of 'Clark's glasses deceive everyone he's close to,' which has had various forms and executions over the years, into a strictly modern setting made for an interesting way to interpret and appreciate that rule."
