Why Women Are Wearing Red on International Women's Day

If you've checked your Instagram today, you've probably noticed all the red outfits or a simple red square. You might even think that is the official color for International Women's Day (FYI, it's today!). While you are close, the real origin of "wear red" comes from the Day Without a Woman movement.

Launched by the same organizers of the Women's March on Washington, this new campaign is encouraging women across the world to strike for equity, justice, and human rights on March 8 (coinciding with International Women's Day). In solidarity, the initiative asks women to wear red.

Why red? Well, it is bold, prominent, and a power woman color. The hue serves as a call to action on this important day, which many in the fashion community have already answered. Even Hillary Clinton was on board, wearing a red pantsuit on Tuesday. Scroll on to see all the red outfits so far, then style your own outfit with a girl-power item.
