Blake Lively Wore One Perfect Ponytail to the Met Gala
Vogue darling Blake Lively attended the 2017 Met Gala with her hot husband, Ryan Reynolds, and a ponytail that made us say, "ooh!"
The long, voluminous ponytail showed off Blake's beachy texture with a little added texture: crimping.
We got the exclusive details from celebrity stylist Rod Ortega using T3 tools.
"My inspiration was the New Romantic, '80s-style pony," Ortega said. "I'm excited about this because I grew up in the '80s, and it's personal to me. I felt really close to the theme." He also explained the updo complemented the dress instead of competing with it.
Ortega described the look as a "double pony with lift and herringbone texture - an edge to a classic pony."
Here's what you need to know to DIY at home: "For the crimped texture in the pony, use a smaller plated flat iron - I like the T3 SinglePass Compact - to bend the hair back and forth," Ortega explained. "Another tip is the use flat elastic bands instead of your typical round ones as they are easy to stack and help create lift in the pony."
Back to Blake's texture. We had to know how he worked with it and showed it off so well!
"I always blow out the hair with the T3 Featherweight Luxe hair dryer to keep Blake's natural texture, as the soft air of the dryer helps the texture come through. Less is best to bring out texture! I only work with light oils and very little hair products. L'Oreal Spray Shine L'Oreal Paris EverStyle Smooth & Shine Serum is great for this, too."
When it came to makeup, she also kept it light, sticking to gorgeous gold shades.
Makeup artist Kristofer Buckle for L'Oréal Paris commented on the look in a press release, "We decided to keep Blake's makeup soft with a touch of gold. We didn't want to go too heavy with the makeup since her Versace gown made such a statement…something heavy would be too theatrical. Instead, we went for bronze-tone makeup – both on the eyes and on the face."
