This Viral Tweet Sums Up the Scary Future of American Health Care
On May 4, the House successfully voted to repeal the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, with the American Health Care Act (AHCA). While many Republicans celebrated the highly controversial bill, many liberals took to their social media accounts to contest the scary reality that if the bill is passed into law, it would potentially prevent people with preexisting conditions from affording health care.
Lon Harris, editor in chief of Insider newsletter, summed up the fears of many when he questioned if Americans might soon have to seek out financial help using GoFundMe campaigns to pay for their medical expenses. "So how long until GoFundMe is our nation's leading health care provider?" he asked in a now-viral tweet, which quickly racked up over 25,000 retweets and 53,000 "likes."

While it looks unlikely that the AHCA will successfully pass the Senate in its current form, it's evident from the amount of reactions to Harris's tongue-in-cheek tweet that many Americans - both Democrats and Republicans - are feeling passionate, and rightfully so, about future their healthcare coverage.
