Vanessa Hudgens Shows Off Her Short, Sexy Haircut at the Billboard Awards
This is the move: get a gorgeous Summer haircut and then show it off by hosting a major award show. Vanessa Hudgens just pulled this when she got a sexy bob last week and she is now hosting the 2017 Billboard Music Awards. It's one way to create buzz about a red carpet appearance!
She pulled out all stops, rocking her short new cut in a modern take on Old Hollywood waves. Her hair was combed over with a deep side part and understated loose curls. The look was created by Chad Wood for Toni & Guy.
"We wanted a look that was both clean and structured with a soft femininity," Wood told POPSUGAR via email. "It's really a brushed-out soft shape that is elegant and chic."
Also, we exclusively learned that she got a second haircut just for the Billboard Music Awards! "When she just cut her hair, it was cut to her shoulders, so for tonight I actually cut it up to below her ear," he revealed. "I wanted a very high-fashion French bob. Everyone is doing these chic French looks, and I love it because it is very sexy and clean. I was really inspired by that for tonight's look. With this look, you can see her neck, which is very sexy. The shorter length I gave her is very modern and fresh, rather than a messy textured wave to her shoulders." (Hey, even Drake publicly admitted that Vanessa looks hot!)
To make sure her new chop looked sleek, Wood prepped it with Toni & Guy Heat Protection Mist, which not only protects hair against hot tools but keeps it smooth and frizz-free in the 90-degree Las Vegas heat.
He relied on the one-inch T3 Whirl Trio Convertible Curling Iron to curl everything in one direction toward the face. "You set in pins and then immediately brush out using the T3 AntiGravity Round Brush," he explained. "You can mold your hair a lot after you curl it, so use the brush to create the shape you want."
According to Wood, the can't-miss step is setting it with hairspray so it lasts all night. He used Toni & Guy Firm Hold Hairspray.
On the makeup side, she wore the of-the-moment pink eye trend, a bronzy cheek, and a neutral lip. It's definitely chic and perfect for Summer bridesmaids!
