You Know You're Going to Watch This Grey's Anatomy Spinoff
Shonda Rhimes is one of the biggest names in prime time, but she's looking to expand her reach beyond just dominating Thursday nights: Grey's Anatomy is getting a spinoff. No, Private Practice is not being resuscitated. The brand-new series will center around firefighters! "No one can interweave the jeopardy firefighters face in the line of duty with the drama in their personal lives quite like Shonda, and Grey's signature Seattle setting is the perfect backdrop for this exciting spinoff," said Channing Dungey, ABC's entertainment president, during the network's presentation at Upfronts.
Rhimes will serve as an executive producer, along with longtime collaborator Betsy Beers. Grey's Anatomy showrunner Stacy McKee will be "spearhead" the new show.
