Luis Fonsi on Justin Bieber Forgetting the Lyrics to "Despacito": "I Don't Blame Him"

"Despacito" singer Luis Fonsi has no hard feelings towards Justin Bieber, and he's making it known. In April, Luis released the remix with Justin singing in Spanish for the first time ever. The Canadian recently made headlines after he forgot the lyrics to "Despacito" during a performance at the 1 Oak nightclub in New York City. He sang "Nos vamos pegando, poquito a poquito. Nos vamos pegando, I quit smoking ciggies."

Fast forward to a few weeks later, and Luis is coming to Justin's defense. "I mean, obviously I would love for him to . . . learn it. I don't blame him not knowing [the lyrics], and I think we have to give him a little bit of a pass because that's not his main language", he told ABC News Radio. "We can't expect the guy to just out of the blue get it perfectly. I mean, it's obvious when he was recording the song he had the lyrics in front of him."

The idea to do the "Despacito" remix was actually Justin's, the Puerto Rican singer revealed in a interview with Yahoo! Vida y Estilo in May. Despite all of the controversy, Luis is taking the high road and taking the time to commend Justin. "I actually applaud the fact that he took the time in the recording studio to do it, and he did a great job."
