Seth Meyers and Amy Poehler Reunite to Take On Pro-Trump Julius Caesar Protesters
Seth Meyers and Amy Poehler have one word for the pro-Donald Trump protesters who rushed the stage during the Public Theater's Shakespeare in the Park performance of Julius Caesar on June 18: "Really!?!" The comedic duo reunited on Late Night With Seth Meyers to bring back their former Saturday Night Live special "Really!?!" and it was hilarious.
"Now let me get this straight," Poehler said. "You waited in line to get tickets to a play you already hated. And then you watched it for three hours and then you ran on stage to protest. But not the president, but someone who was dressed like the president, from getting pretend-stabbed with a fake knife. Really?"
The protesters were rallying against the portrayal of Caesar, who resembles Trump in the production, and were upset that Caesar was killed.
"And really, if this portrayal was offensive to anyone, it's Caesar," Meyers said. "Caesar was beloved by the Roman Empire. To put it another way, he won the popular vote. He was so popular, we don't use his name for pizza, we use it for pizza pizza. The only thing Caesar and Trump have in common is they both have casinos named after them."
Meyers added, "And you can tell that Caesar wasn't really Trump because the Senate stabbed him instead of just passing a sh*t healthcare bill."
Watch the hilarious clip above, which we promise will leave you scratching your head, saying, "REALLY!?!"
