The Internet Has a Lot to Say About Anthony Scaramucci's Departure
On July 31, merely 10 days after Anthony Scaramucci officially began his job as the White House communications director, "The Mooch," as he's referred to informally, was stripped of his new role. Allow us to remind you that Scaramucci's appointment to this position was reportedly the main reason Sean Spicer chose to resign, as Spicer believed it was "a major mistake." And it looks like Spicer was right about that one.
So why exactly was he removed so quickly from his position? Apparently it was at the request of John F. Kelly, who succeeded Reince Priebus as the White House's new chief of staff on the same day as Scaramucci's firing. Kelly reportedly told his aides that he wanted to "impose a new sense of order and operational discipline that had been absent under his predecessor," The New York Times reports. White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders issued an official statement that said: "Mr. Scaramucci felt it was best to give Chief of Staff John Kelly a clean slate and the ability to build his own team. We wish him all the best."
Scaramucci's abrupt dismissal came as a surprise to many, especially considering that President Donald Trump proudly (and perhaps prematurely) announced on Twitter that there was "No WH chaos!" earlier in the day. Although it's unclear whether Trump will offer the now-former director another role in the West Wing, many internet users have spoken up to offer their comments on Scaramucci's short-lived reign in the White House - even Bachelor host Chris Harrison couldn't resist getting in on the action.
