Don't Freak Out, but Amazon Can Now Deliver Packages in the Trunk of Your Car

Amazon continues to expand its delivery options, with its latest service at first seeming like an ever-so-slight invasion of privacy. As a follow-up to the company's launch of in-home delivery, customers will soon also be able to receive packages inside the trunks of their cars through the recently announced Amazon Key In-Car service.
Here's how it works: customers must first connect their Amazon account to the official Amazon Key App. After doing some shopping, they will be presented the in-car delivery option at checkout. The app will later notify customers when the package is on its way, as well as when the car has been unlocked and locked again by the delivery driver through keyless technology. It's important to note that for the service to work, the car must be parked within a particular range of the original delivery location.
So far, the service is available for free for Amazon Prime members ordering same-day, two-day, or standard shipping in 37 cities throughout the United States. At press time, it's unfortunately only compatible with owners of a 2015 or newer Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, Cadillac, or Volvo vehicle with an OnStar account - or On Call for Volvo drivers. Amazon is, however, hoping to expand this list over time.
"In-car delivery gives customers that same peace of mind and allows them to take the Amazon experience with them," said Vice President of Delivery Technology Peter Larsen in a press statement. To learn more about the newly launched feature, check out the explanatory video ahead.
