NBA Analyst Rosalyn Gold-Onwude Launches $1 Million Sports Scholarship For Young Women of Color

NBA analyst Rosalyn Gold-Onwude - affectionately known as "Ros" - is on fire. In addition to landing an international broadcasting gig with Turner Sports and covering NCAA Championship games throughout March Madness, Ros is also making sure to give back to those in need.
As a former member of the Stanford women's basketball team and Pac-10 Co-Defensive Player of the Year, Ros knows a thing or two about owning the court and passing the ball - which is why she recently teamed up with the social-impact nonprofit Kick'n It For a Cause and Yellowbrick to launch a $1 million scholarship program for young minority women who are interested in pursuing careers in the fields of sports, footwear, fashion, and beauty. "We want a hands-on experience where they can also come away with something practical, and we're targeting those that need it most," Ros told POPSUGAR earlier this year.

Yellowbrick's mission is to "create accessible and open learning experiences that empower the next generation of talent to pursue career paths that align to their passions." Its new scholarship initiative promises to ensure that "all students, regardless of their socioeconomic background, can benefit." Ros's partnership will aid and empower young women of color to both learn and pursue careers in areas they are passionate about, especially sports. "I've had the opportunity to build my career around a passion, and I want to help others do the same," Ros said in a statement. "I truly believe that a student's personal passion and hustle - rather than financial resources - should determine how far they can go."
