This Photo of the Toys "R" Us Giraffe in an Empty Store Will Make You Ugly Cry
This just made me so sad. pic.twitter.com/a7I1crM71W

Those who grew up as true Toys "R" Us kids are likely more than a little upset over the store's fate. In March, the nationwide store - which was in business since 1957 and was once the go-to stop for kids' toys and games before retailers like Target and online-shopping destinations like Amazon emerged - announced that it was going out of business. And now, after all the clearance sales over the past few months have emptied its shelves, Toys "R" Us has revealed that it will close all of its doors for good by this Friday, June 29.
If the realization that you'll never walk the aisles of a Toys "R" Us again doesn't hit you like a ton of bricks, we have a feeling this image will. A woman on Twitter posted a photo of the brand's mascot, Geoffrey the Giraffe, standing in an empty store. He has his tiny suitcase packed and seems to be saying goodbye to his home of the past 61 years.
It's unclear who created this image, but it's a powerful reminder of the magic that a store like that can hold.
So, go ahead, shed a few tears. And sing along one last time to that jingle we all know so well:
From bikes to trains to video games
it's the biggest toy store there is (gee whiz!)
I don't wanna grow up, cause maybe if I did
I couldn't be a Toys R Us kid.
