There have been rumors and false starts of an Artemis Fowlfilm adaptation ever since Eoin Colfer's popular book series hit shelves in 2001, but now we finally have a glimpse of the real thing. Directed by Kenneth Branagh, the fantasy film follows 12-year-old genius and criminal mastermind Artemis Fowl, who must go toe to toe with a secret race of fairies who he suspects kidnapped his father. Newcomer Ferdia Shaw stars as Artemis, while more recognizable faces like Judy Dench, Nonso Anozie, Josh Gad, and Hong Chau round out the rest of the cast. Watch the teaser trailer above before it hits theaters on Aug. 9!
