Heads Up, Ya Filthy Animals: There's a Home Alone Remake Coming to Disney+
During a conference call held by Disney executives on Aug. 6, chairman Bob Iger announced that the company has plans to remake Home Alone, a Christmas classic, for its new streaming service, Disney+. Home Alone, originally released in 1990, is one of many assets that Disney acquired from 21st Century Fox when the companies merged back in March. No further details about the reboot and what we can expect from it were immediately shared following the announcement, but Iger did mention that there are more reboots where that came from.
"We're also focused on leveraging Fox's vast library of great titles to further enrich the content mix on our [direct to consumer] platforms," Iger said on the call, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Along with Home Alone, other films like Night at the Museum, Cheaper by the Dozen, and Diary of a Wimpy Kid will also be reimagined for the streaming platform.
Disney+ will officially launch on Nov. 12 at a subscription price of $7 a month. The service will be home to all Marvel films and their TV counterparts, as well as Star Wars and Pixar movies. Head over here to see what other films and TV shows you'll find on Disney+.
