Healthy lifestyle

A healthy lifestyle is one which helps to keep and improve people's health and well-being.Many governments and non-governmental organizations have made big efforts in healthy lifestyle and health promotion.

Mental Health

Mental health can be considered a very important factor of physical health for the effects it produces on bodily functions. This type of health concerns emotional and cognitive well-being or an absence of mental disorder.

Public health can be defined in a variety of ways. It can be presented as "the study of the physical, psychosocial and socio-cultural determinants of population health and actions to improve the health of the population.

For the UN, reproductive health is a right, like other human rights. This recent concept evokes the good transmission of the genetic heritage from one generation to the next.

Health

Fitness Club,Fitness Articles,Life Fitness,Training Program,Workout:Chick-fil-A Is Adding an Unexpected Item to Its Menu

Chick-fil-A has been serving up fried chicken and biscuit sandwiches for years, but the restaurant chain recently announced a new - and somewhat unexpected - menu item arriving Jan. 18. A "superfood" kale salad will replace longtime-favorite coleslaw as a side dish and includes broccolini, dried cherries, and roasted nuts topped with a maple vinaigrette.

According to Business Insider, this is the first time a fast-food chain has offered kale nationwide. The salad will come in two sizes, the medium five-ounce size at 80 calories and the large eight-ounce size at 110 calories. It can be ordered as a substitution for fries in a combo meal for an extra charge of $0.94 or on its own for $2.59 (medium) or $3.79 (large).

Beauty Supply, beauty magazine, beautiful homes, beautiful skin: If You're Addicted to Beach Vacations, You Need L'Oréal's New Product

I am very fair - like on the level of "are you related to any vampires?" paleness - so my Summer sunscreen applications always end up being an exercise in futility. No matter how many times I reapply or check to see if I am turning red, I transform from alabaster to lobster practically in the blink of an eye. It's a fact that one sunburn is dangerous enough to put you at risk for skin cancer, so it's quite important to stay aware of UV levels and how much exposure you've received. Now, there's a device that allows you to do just that.

According to Women's Wear Daily, L'Oréal brand La Roche-Posay announced its partnership with global tech company PCH at the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, where the brand demonstrated a new form of wearable technology called My UV Patch. Instead of a bracelet, watch, or pendant, the item is a superslim, stretchable silicon sticker that adheres directly to the skin.

It features a color-changing image of a heart on its surface. When you use an iPhone or Android app to take a photo of the patch, the heart provides the software with information on how much UV exposure you've been subjected to, based on the changes in hue.

This product is completely revolutionary. Consider: most people constantly keep their phones by them, even at the beach. By scanning this sticker, you'll be able to know whether or not you should reapply your SPF or just head inside for the day, all thanks to the UV-level-sensing technology.

My UV Patch will be available at the end of this year and is reported to be free of charge, as an act of educating consumers about skin health. Like most people, I love free stuff, but this is especially exciting; once I get my hands on it, the sticker will act as my personal skin savior. And while I often joke that my favorite brow products are "lifesavers," this patch actually could be.

Healthy,Food Magazine,Healthy Recipes,Food Guide :30+ Soup Recipes For Those That Like Things Smooth

While many soups make for great brown-bag lunches (and leftovers in general), I'm partial to pureed recipes over all others. Unlike noodle soups, there's nothing in the mix that'll get soggy or mushy, and most reheat in the microwave like a dream (do take care to stir halfway through, and be extra watchful of overheating dairy-based soups, lest they curdle). Make one of these recipes for dinner tonight, and then pack leftovers in mason jars (no risk of leaking - yay!), tucking garnishes into their own resealable plastic bag, to be added once the soup is reheated. With this, you'll have a lunch to look forward to all day.

Beauty Supply, beauty magazine, beautiful homes, beautiful skin: Why I Gladly Spent $800 on the Most Perfect Hair Extensions

Something magical happened to me the month before my wedding, and it wasn't just the idea that I was going to marry my soul mate. I discovered hair extensions, and for better or worse, they changed my life forever. (Apologies if that sounds melodramatic, but it's true!)

To put it bluntly, hair extensions are the nose job my mane always needed. I was born with fine, flat locks that return to their natural state the second I leave Drybar. Until that glorious day at Bumble and Bumble, one month before my wedding, when a talented stylist painstakingly bonded Great Lengths extensions into my hair. Great Lengths extensions are made from gorgeous, human hair, and they are fused to small sections of one's real hair with pure keratin.

The process takes about three hours and costs around $1,200. At the time, I thought it was worth every penny. I left the salon with the hair I always wanted and never thought I could have. It was long, lustrous, and it held blowouts for multiple days. It was perfect. And as a lifestyle blogger and stylist, I quickly realized flawless hair was the one accessory I never knew I needed. Something about my new, cascading waves made everything brighter: my outfits looked better, I was more photogenic, and my extra hair seemed to give me extra confidence, too.

But unfortunately, some love stories must come to an end. (And luckily, in this case I'm not referring to my marriage!) In my opinion, Great Lengths has one major flaw: it can fall out. And it can fall out at inopportune times. Like that time I was meeting a co-worker at the Plaza Food Hall for lunch, and I had to discretely tuck a long strand of hair into my purse. How does that happen? Well, since everyone's hair naturally sheds, sometimes the extensions come along for the ride.

Taking out hair extensions is also time-consuming. A removal gel is applied to each of the bonds and rubbed into your hair until the bond breaks down and slides off. This process could take over an hour if you have a full head of extensions. But I was willing to look past these flaws until I decided to get pregnant and go au natural. (And by au natural, I mean I went to Ricky's, bought some clip-ins, and had a stylist cut and color them to match my hair to get me through nine salon-free months.)

I used the clip-ins throughout my pregnancy and for three more months after my beautiful baby girl was born. But I missed the ease of waking up with a full head of perfect hair that I could refresh with a quick spritz of dry shampoo. So back to Bumble I went, and my stylist, Carrie Hill, introduced me to a new tape extension that the salon launched last Fall. To be honest, I had my doubts about sticking tape onto my hair. But after several applications and removals, I'm officially hooked. Keep reading to learn more about this salon process and discover if it's right for you!

Beauty Supply, beauty magazine, beautiful homes, beautiful skin: What It's Really Like to Get Hair Extensions

In just one afternoon, my hair went from short bob to mermaid long. No, I didn't develop Disney-level magic powers or turn into Beyoncé; I got head-turning extensions.

When RPZL, a new hair extension and blowout bar in New York, offered to let me try a new type of hair extensions, I jumped at the chance. I've had long hair in the past, but I'm currently in the process of growing out a pixie cut, and it is trying my patience.

So I opted for RPZL Next, which uses ultrasonic waves to bond keratin attachments to your actual hair. Like heat-applied keratin extensions, RPZL Next lasts at least three months, but unlike tape extensions, they're attached via individual wefts rather than in strips.

If you, too, are having growing-out woes, or if you just want to add body to already-long locks, you might want keratin-bonded extensions. Here's a step-by-step breakdown of what you can expect from the process.

Beauty Supply, beauty magazine, beautiful homes, beautiful skin: Target Launches Its First-Ever Beauty Line With Nail Polish

On Jan. 17, Target's grooming aisles will be getting a buzzy new addition: the mega store is launching its first-ever in-house beauty line. The chosen category is nail polish for a label dubbed Defy & Inspire. Though you'll have to wait a few weeks to actually purchase the lacquers, we have an exclusive first look at all 38 colors.

According to a Target press release, the line's name gives a nod to the idea that you can "defy the ordinary" and "inspire others" through your personal style. On-trend colors, like deep wine (perfect for grunge lovers), vibrant aqua (for music festivals), and minimalist nude (paging Kylie Jenner), are Instagram-ready. We predict the offering will be a commodity with the blogger set.

Perhaps what will get millennials most enthused are cheeky names, which all pay homage to pop culture - specially cult series and reality TV. "Final Rose," "Bachelor," and "The Right Reasons" will perfectly accompany a Bachelor binge-watch. While "XOXO" will make you nostalgic for Gossip Girl, "Laguna Beach" and "The Hills" will feed your Lauren Conrad fanaticism. A top coat and base round out the collection.

The 5-free formula was also thoughtfully developed. The long-wear polishes contain patented plasticizers that resist cracking or peeling thanks to the idea of "color flexibility." A dual-polymer technology bonds the shade to the nail and fuses to the second coat. To get the gorgeous hues, Target sources unique raw materials (like pearls and highly concentrated pigments) from all over the globe. The result is a wear-resistant, high-gloss finish that rivals its luxe counterparts but only costs $7 a bottle. Fingers crossed this is just the beginning Target's beauty venture!

Beauty Supply, beauty magazine, beautiful homes, beautiful skin: This Indian Bridal Makeup Look Is Perfect For Any Wedding

While most American women walk down the aisle on their wedding day in a white dress with a romantic, rose-hued makeup look, Indian American ladies tend to look more vibrant. The latter get dolled up in traditional outfits - belly-baring tops, flaming red beaded skirts, bold-colored diamond jewelry, and stunning headpieces known as tikkas. To complement such an eye-catching outfit, Indian women also typically wear more statement-making makeup looks - think seriously smoky eyes and a punchy lip.

We were schooled on the topic by a true expert in the community, Karuna "KC" Chani, who is the It makeup artist for Indian women. Here, she dreamed up a breathtaking bridal beauty look that combines traditional Indian concepts with modern American beauty trends. She mixed the conventional - like jet-black matte eyeliner - with updated ideas, such as swapping standard red lipstick for coral.

If you, too, want to wear a fusion of trends, then you need to do your homework. "Definitely look at the latest American magazines and also the traditional Indian magazines," Chani advised. "First and foremost, find an outfit that complements your skin tone. From there, the makeup has to enhance the outfit, not compete with it. You also don't want to match the outfit - which is really old fashioned and dated. You want to remain ethereal."

Keep reading to discover more makeup tips from Chani and see how she made over our model to look like a stunning bride.

Beauty Supply, beauty magazine, beautiful homes, beautiful skin: This Twisted Chignon Can Take You From Spin Class to the Office

January is notoriously the busiest month for gym-goers, and if you're committing to better fitness habits this year, then you should do it with style. To help up your workout hair game, we asked celebrity stylist Sarah Potempa to create five easy braided looks that will hold your strands in place in the most eye-catching way. Bobbi Brown makeup artist Kim Soane painted the faces of our fitness blogger models, Chase Lindsay Rosen of Athleisurely and Evann Clingan of her eponymous site, using long-wear, waterproof products. Everything was photographed at the iconic Chelsea Piers, which boasts a bevy of creative sweat-inducing classes. Every day this week, we will be revealing a new look - such as this French fishtail ponytail or this braided ballerina bun.

Get through the mid-week slump by taking a heart-pumping indoor cycling class, but don't worry about washing your sweaty hair after. If you put it in this twisted updo, it will stay perfectly - so you can conquer SoulCycle, rinse off, and make it to your morning meeting looking polished. Plus, it's much easier to DIY than it looks!

"A great tip for making a boring bun into a more interesting bun or twisted updo is taking one ponytail and splitting it into multiple ponytails," Sarah noted. "This will add to the width of the style and create more dimension. It will give the illusion that you have a lot more hair and the style is a lot more intricate, when it's really simple."

Keep reading to learn how to try it yourself!

Fitness Club,Fitness Articles,Life Fitness,Training Program,Workout:The Surprising Things 1 Woman Learned After Doing a 2-Week Cleanse

I'm a really, really healthy person. I've been eating organic produce since I was a child (thanks, Mom!), and I work out about six times a week - a mix of indoor cycling, dance cardio, HIIT, yoga, and barre. When I recently met with an Equinox trainer to assess my BMI (body mass index), we discovered I am at a "normal" weight and "stronger than average." So why would I need to do a cleanse?

To start, I've been traveling a ton this year. From May to July, I took seven trips for both personal and work-related reasons! And I do have vices: coffee (approximately six cups a day), sugar (you'll often find me trolling around the office at 3 p.m. for chocolate chip anything!), and social alcohol consumption (nothing beats a crisp glass of Summer Rosé, amiright?). My go, go, go lifestyle and ingestible weaknesses left me feeling bloated and run-down, and craving structure.

So I did something I have never done before: I went on a two-week detox cleanse, the Dr. Lipman program. This was a major step for me emotionally! I can't stick to Weight Watchers or count calories on MyFitnessPal, so the fact that I followed this through was a true test of willpower. And I discovered a ton of valuable lessons that I will bring into my future eating and wellness habits. Keep reading to learn more about the cleanse, why I chose it, and how it affected my overall health, waistline, and wallet.

Fitness Club,Fitness Articles,Life Fitness,Training Program,Workout:Want to Lose Weight? Do These 6 Things at Every Meal

Before you lift that spoon, fork, or cup up to your lips, make sure you're doing these things every time you sit down to eat.

  1. Drink this: Grab a big glass of water and drink half of it before even starting your meal. It'll help you feel fuller faster, so you'll eat less.
  2. Your mama was right: Make sure to eat veggies at every. Single. Meal. Yes, even breakfast! Throw broccoli and beans in your smoothie, some mushrooms and tomatoes into your omelet, or zucchini into your oatmeal. And for either lunch or dinner, make your meal one enormous salad - it's an easy way to fill up without eating tons of calories. Aim for half your plate to be filled with veggies, and use grains and protein to accent that meal.
  3. This is the magic combo: Woman can't live on carbs alone, and if you tend to feel groggy after your morning bowl of cereal or your midday pasta, this is why. Fiber and protein are both a must. Fiber makes you feel full for longer and protein will sustain your energy and also help keep hunger at bay. Figure out a combo that adds up to at least 25 grams of fiber and between 50 and 100 grams of protein per day (depending on your activity level).
  4. Calories count: Keep each meal between 300 and 550 calories. This will allow for two 150-calorie snacks and ensure you're not dipping below 1,200 calories, which can make losing weight impossible.
  5. Mindful munching: When you're on your phone, computer, or watching TV while eating, it's easy to be so distracted that you just inhale your entire plate within a matter of minutes. Since your brain hasn't been given enough time to register that you've eaten your fill, you'll still feel hungry afterward and go to reach for more. Do what you need to do to slow down, whether that be to shut down Facebook, enjoy your meal with a friend, use a set of chopsticks, or eat with your less dominant hand.
  6. Three-quarters is the magic number: Eat until you're almost full, but not quite. If you keep going, that stuffed feeling not only means you ate too many calories for your body to burn off, but working that hard will make you feel foggy and tired. Do not subscribe to the clean plate club! Once you're almost full, if you still have bites left, wrap up the rest for later.
