44 Completely Rational Reasons My 3-Year-Old Tantrumed Today
We all have rough days, but 44 tantrums in one day is a new record. From our friends at Babyology, read about the hilarious and rational problems that were worth crying about for this 3-year-old!
Have a threenager at home? Please, pull up a chair, pour a glass of wine, and enjoy these completely reasonable reasons my 3-year-old daughter cracked it today. Yes . . . all of these outbursts happened in a 24-hour period. I wish I was making this up.
My daughter's favorite pastime these days is to yell at me. Today, rather than simply struggle through the daily tantrums and tears, I decided to track them. Every time my daughter whined, cried, screamed, kicked, or lay on the floor with her feet in the air, I wrote it down.
My daughter discovered 44 problems worth crying about. And almost half of them occurred before 9 a.m.
- She wanted to wear her Elsa shirt (which is in the dirty clothes pile).
- She put her underwear on backwards.
- I put the wrong episode of Strawberry Shortcake on.
- I didn't get her breakfast quickly enough.
- She didn't want cereal. She wanted oats.
- I gave her the wrong bowl for her oats. She wanted the bowl that her uneaten cereal was in.
- She spilled oats on her knee.
- She wanted the small spoon.
- I gave her the yellow blanket instead of the pink blanket.
- She wanted to wear her Elsa dress instead of her Elsa shirt.
- It's not her birthday today.
- Her seat belt felt funny.
- Her brother looked at her in the car.
- The cat wouldn't let her pick him up by the tail.
- She couldn't open the wrapper to her muesli bar.
- I opened the wrapper to her muesli bar too much.
- Her muesli bar broke in two.
- When coloring in, I used the wrong color of blue for Cinderella's dress.
- I sat on her imaginary friend.
- She put her shoes on the wrong feet.
- Peppa Pig ended.
- I cut her sandwich into triangles.
- I cut her second sandwich into squares.
- I wouldn't let her play in the car.
- I suggested we take a nap.
- She dropped her hat on the road.
- I didn't let her answer the phone.
- I sat on the wrong side of the couch.
- It started to rain.
- I had to cook dinner.
- Her brother talked to her.
- She spilled her water.
- I used the red towel to clean it up. I should have used the pink one.
- I had a shower without her.
- I helped her brother with his homework.
- She lost her doll's pink shoe.
- I asked her to take a bath.
- I asked her to get out of the bath.
- The towel felt itchy.
- Her brother got his pajamas on quicker than she did.
- I turned the page of her bedtime story incorrectly.
- Teddy fell off the bed.
- I didn't tickle her arm properly.
- I yawned.
The next time your toddler screams the house down because you didn't cut his sandwich right, just remember, there is a whole world of moms and dads out there, cutting the crusts off their triangle sandwiches and silently cursing the skies for this difficult stage in parenting.
Please, share the completely illogical reasons your toddler lost it today so I can revel in the fact I am not alone.
And let's prepare to do it all over again tomorrow. Because even the worst of tantrums can be erased with a simple cuddle, kiss, and "I love you, Mommy."
4 Signs You're Burnt Out as a Mom
Burnt out (adj.): A state in which you are mentally unable to handle any more stress. A state in which your energy and mental resources are depleted.
We all have moments in time in which we feel stressed, but sometimes we don't even realize how burnt out we are even if others around us can see that we are. Being a burnt-out mom is not only bad for you, but it's also bad for the people around you. Unfortunately, mothers are socialized to ignore their needs; taking care of us as mothers is considered selfish. Worse still, asking for help is seen as somewhat weak.
This cultural attitude of the "strong mom" is hurtful to mothers and women. Being strong doesn't mean working yourself to death until you're exhausted and mentally spent. Instead, think of your mothering "power" as a business: when a CEO needs someone to take over a department, a good CEO finds a manager to take charge. That manager then finds workers and fills his or her staff up with people to share the workload.
Be a good CEO. Be a "strong mom." Divide and conquer. Ask for help. Utilize your partner if you've got one and your family or friends based on their strengths. Rome was not built in a day. It takes a village to raise a child.
You are not Rome. You are not a village.
Strategize and take care of yourself or you're no good for anyone!
Sign #1: Forgetting Everything
Sure, there's preggo brain and mommy brain, but when you start forgetting things constantly, it's a sign you're burnt out.
When I had to move suddenly, I started forgetting things, which was so out of character for me. I also started losing things. It made sense, though: I lost my house and had to move suddenly, which was very stressful, and I was searching for a place on my own all among divorce proceedings. I was a burnt-out mom running on fumes. Realizing this allowed me to help myself.
Sign #2: Snapping at the Kids and Partner
Have you been a bit snappy lately? Maybe yelled at the kids and later on thought, "Hmm, there was no reason for me to yell. Why did I do that?"
Has your partner accused you of being moody or the B word?
You might very well be completely and utterly burnt out.
Sign #3: Constantly Tired
Does it seem as if your go-to response when people ask how you are is "tired"?
Do you long to crawl into your bed night after night and frequently wake up in the morning still feeling drained?
You, my friend, are burnt out. To a crisp!
Sign #4: Watering Down Your "Mom" Routine
Are you the mom who makes three-course meals for every meal, but now you're telling the kids, "Just fend for yourself," again?
Were you the type of mom to sit and play with your kids and now find yourself barely fitting in a minute to play a game of Candy Land?
Do you go to bed feeling guilty as if you're not being your typical self with the kids?
A sign of burnout. You're burnt out and have no energy for yourself, much less energy to be Mom of the Year.
Now What?
If you think you're burnt out, let's list some strategies that have helped friends of mine AND me in the past. Hopefully you'll find a tool here that resonates with you. Don't feel bad for being burnt out. Sometimes life does this to us. Sometimes we do this to ourselves by not reaching out for help. Try one of these strategies to take your stress down a few notches!
- Stop Saying Yes: You might be burnt out from committing to too many responsibilities. Women feel bad saying no. Don't. If you are stretched to the limit, chances are your kids are too. Start practicing the word "no"!
- Yoga, at Home: If you can't afford the time or money for a gym membership, try a yoga app or DVD. Many of my friends swear that yoga has helped reduce their stress levels and increased their energy.
- Therapy: You may be burnt out because life has placed some difficulties on your plate like divorce, illness, pregnancy loss, death in the family, etc. No matter what the case, therapy may be just what you need.
- Turn Off the Tech: I had my phone on way too late and was receiving work emails late at night, which subsequently stressed me and impacted my sleep. Reduce your use of tech. Turn off the phones, log off Facebook, and tune out.
- Not Enough Hands: Does the majority of childcare fall in your lap? Is your partner taking the share? If you answered yes to the first question and no to the second, it's time to have an honest conversation with your partner about stepping up to the plate. A burnt-out partner will only end up affecting your spouse. If your spouse is taking on responsibility but you two still find yourselves drained or lacking the ability to get out together alone, seek out your children's teachers, moms groups, and Care.com for a reliable sitter if family won't help. If family will help, ask them!
- Lower Your Expectations: Most likely, you expect 150 percent of yourself all the time, and it's not realistic and causing you stress. This doesn't mean let your kids run wild. This means going easier on yourself. Giving you credit where credit is due. Not nailing yourself to the wall with every mistake you make!
- Anxiety Treatment: You might be prone to anxiety, which is causing you to burn out frequently or for long periods of time. Talking to a therapist or a doctor if you would like to go the medication route is a smart move. Yoga and the gym will also help deal with the beast called anxiety.
- The Gym: If you can join, do it! You'll meet people, get in shape, and escape from everyone for a small part of your day. It can't hurt.
- Foods: Are you eating well? How you treat your body will impact your mood.
- A Child Issue: Is your child having difficulties whether developmentally, physically, or emotionally? Getting help for your child and possibly your family if needed will reduce the risk of burn-out. Talk to your pediatrician and or child's teacher for recommendations on how to help your little one with whatever battle he or she is facing.
Mommy burn-out isn't fun, but it doesn't have to persist. Be strong and ask for help. You are not an island or a miracle worker. Don't bite off more than you can chew or it will come back to bite you in the end.
Chelsea Handler Wears Her Underwear on the Beach After Forgetting Her Swimsuit
Chelsea Handler really has no shame, and we absolutely love her for it. The comedian and actress jetted off to sunny Mexico to celebrate Easter weekend with Maria Sharapova, and the ladies wasted no time in having a ball. Chelsea took to Instagram on Sunday to share a video of herself rapping while relaxing on the beach. "I forgot my bathing suit and just thought . . . who cares . . ." she captioned the clip, which clearly shows her wearing her bra. Maria also took to social media to share a few photos from their tropical getaway, including one of her showing off her bikini body while sitting in the sand. Chelsea then rocked a cute cover-up as she sipped cocktails in the shade with a few other friends. March Man-ness 2016: Which Guy Wins Your Heart?
Jessica Lowndes Is Reportedly Engaged to Jon Lovitz
Jessica Lowndes had her social media followers scratching their heads last week after she posted a series of cryptic Instagram photos that hinted at a new man in her life. In addition to a picture of someone's hand resting on her leg with the caption, "His hands are wise and tell a thousand stories... #smitten #hatersgonnahate," the svelte former 90210 actress also uploaded a snap of two bowls of ice cream, writing, "You say sugar daddy but I say ice cream daddy! Lol 🍨🍦😍 #SweptoffMyFeet #ExtraSprinklesPleaseDaddy💁.🏻" The sugar daddy in question is apparently Jon Lovitz, who confirmed their maybe-relationship with a picture of them on Twitter.
In addition to flaunting their coupledom, Jessica posted a video on Friday revealing that Jon has also popped the question. "No, I haven't been hacked. I'm just really excited to be able to finally share this secret with you guys," she said, followed by a close-up shot of a sparkly engagement ring. The pair reportedly met on the set of Hawaii Five-0 in January when they were both guest stars, and if their engagement isn't an elaborate April Fools' joke, it seems like they've truly found love. Of course, this isn't the first time we've seen Zayn show off his sweet chemistry with Gigi. Kelly Clarkson's Daughter Hates the Easter Bunny Almost as Much as You Hate Mondays
Although Kelly Clarkson's adorable daughter, River Rose, has already written a book (well, kind of) and starred in her first music video, there's one thing that she just can't get the hang of: getting her picture taken with holiday characters. After a disastrous meeting with Santa Claus in December, River had her first interaction with the Easter bunny on Sunday, and it didn't go very well. "River loved the Easter bunny about as much as she loved Santa ha! #happycamper," Kelly tweeted, along with a photo of her daughter screaming her lungs out. Luckily, the 1-year-old enjoyed her Easter egg hunt way more, finding a golden egg to put in her Dory-shaped basket. Check out the hilariously cute photos ahead, and if you want to cry as hard as River, watch Kelly's emotional return to American Idol!

Devon Sawa's Family Photos Will Remind You Why You Loved Him So Much in the '90s
Devon Sawa has probably held a special place in your heart since the '90s. In addition to his role in Casper and the iconic line of "Can I keep you?," Devon turned into a full-on heartthrob with other roles in hits like Now and Then and Little Giants. The actor has definitely grown up since those days, but that doesn't mean he's gotten any less adorable. Devon has been married to his wife, Dawni Sahanovitch, since 2010, and the couple have two kids together, 2-year-old son Hudson and daughter Scarlett, who was born in March 2016. While their daughter only recently joined their brood, Devon and Dawni have documented so many cute family moments with their little boy. The Healthy Habit That Has Made My Afternoons Better
I always had the best intentions of packing my lunch, but putting this healthy habit into practice was a different story. I was always filled with lunch ennui and jealous vibes when I would see my co-workers with their cute tupperware containers and mason jars stocked with fresh ingredients that looked much more appetizing than whatever I had grabbed out of necessity.
Occasionally, I would be inspired to have a productive Sunday afternoon where I would cook up a batch of my favorite chili or buy a ton of groceries (that I would never finish), but inevitably once Wednesday rolled around, I would be back on the street, trying to figure out what sounded good to eat. Once I got in the groove of packing my lunch the night before - and remembering it before I left the house - the shift to making this a daily habit became natural. Here's why you should try it, too.
It's Much More Satisfying
At first, the idea of packing my lunch felt like a sacrifice, but since I started bringing healthy recipes to work, I have not looked back. Nine times out of 10, my homemade lunch is more palatable and filling than any grab-and-go salad, sandwich, or soup on the block. I'm able to bring foods that are rich in fiber and protein to fuel my brain as I write, and I steer clear of ingredients that make my blood sugar spike or leave me wanting a snack right after I eat. This was the big kicker for me that made this healthy habit stick for good.
I Always Know What I'm Getting
Even when the ingredients are listed on the menu, you never know just how much butter, oil, or other condiments have been used in preparation at a restaurant. Most lunch spots are in the business of making something tasty, so even if a meal "sounds" healthy, we know that's not always the case. When I layer my ingredients and prep my homemade lunch, I always know exactly what I'm getting, so I can make sure it supports my needs.
I've Maintained My Weight Loss
Portion control has always been a big issue for me; if there is food on my plate, I'm going to eat it. By packing my own lunch, I'm easily able to manage portions and be cognizant about my ingredient choices. Eating a cleaner and lighter lunch not only supports my general weight-loss goals, but it also makes space for the occasional weeknight dinner out where I can indulge freely. There's no reason to waste calories on a sad fast-food lunch!
It Saves Money. Big Time.
When developing my budget for 2015, I made a point to get real about the superfluous expenses I did not even realize I had. I knew that this meant regular Uber rides to work and daily coffees from the shop by my apartment had to go, but until I looked at my credit card statement, I had no idea how much money I was spending on my lunch every week. It's tough in downtown San Francisco to find something that's fresh, nutritious, and filling for under $10. That's $50 a week I could be saving . . . or spending on SoulCycle.
Here's What to Pack
Part of making this shift stick is to pack a lunch that doesn't feel sad or unsatisfying when lunchtime rolls around. Try these 50 healthy lunch recipes, or cook these dinner recipes that make even better leftovers. If you're looking to lose weight, check out these lunchtime rules, and pack accordingly.

How My Love of Animals Led Me to Become a Vegetarian
My name is Daisy Fuentes and I'm a vegetarian.
I grew up in a home with a Spanish mother and Cuban father. Until I was three, I lived in Cuba, and we later moved to Spain when I was eight. During those years, I ate Spanish and Cuban foods, which were cooked in a traditional way: usually fried, then refried if they were being served as leftovers. I didn't like to eat much of it, especially the meat or seafood based meals that were 99 percent of what my parents served. Later, we moved from Madrid to New Jersey, where I was introduced to pepperoni pizza lunches - almost every day - as well as Twinkies and milk, cheeseburgers, mac and cheese, Doritos . . . you get the point. I was a junk food junkie. My parents still tried to get me to eat "protein" or "real" food often. Vegetables were never a real option or very important.

Eventually I grew up and started modeling, traveling the world, and enjoying more sophisticated flavors. I became a foodie. I cooked and created healthier versions of my favorite recipes. I started enjoying dinner parties, great restaurants, quality organic food, and wine pairings. But vegetables were never the stars of my show.
So you can imagine how unexpected and weird it was for my family and friends when I announced that I was a vegetarian.
I'd never really known any vegetarians. I always thought the whole vegan, hippie, yogi thing was interesting - but definitely not a lifestyle for a jet-setting foodie fashionista. But I was becoming more health conscious.
I'm now passionate about plant-based diets, for two main reasons. The first is that I have been reading, researching, and watching films regarding health, fitness, and anti-aging for many years. I was particularly inspired by the documentary Forks Over Knifes, which suggested that food could be used as medicine for major diseases. I was motivated to try an organic, plant-based diet for health purposes.
There is a second reason I became a vegetarian, and that is because I am an animal lover. I've always been subliminally aware of the horrors in the meat industry. For a long time, I was not able to face the fact that my consumption had consequences. But about a year ago, the day finally came when I could not turn away any more. We have all seen the images of terrified pigs and mistreated cows on factory farms. The horrors are engraved in my mind, and I can no longer look away.

Instead of the food, I now see the animal and what it went through to get on my plate. It's a choice. And some things you just can't unsee. I haven't had a piece of meat or fish since I made the decision to become a vegetarian. I can't - and amazingly, I don't even want to.
The most fascinating part of my decision has been the reactions. People seem shocked, even offended, that I made this change. Some even become defensive, as though I suggested they're doing something wrong. Perhaps my choice reminds them of something they're trying to avoid.
Many comments and responses I hear are outright wrong. When I suggested on social media that a turkey-free Thanksgiving is something to consider, I was attacked. Users asked how I could dare ruin such a tradition. But the truth is that I don't care what anyone eats. I have made my choice - and by the way I had a lovely and festive meat-free Thanksgiving.
I am, though, often asked for my fitness, health, and beauty advice. I love sharing all the wonderful, cutting-edge secrets I've learned from the best experts in the world. I always emphasized that a plant-based diet is the most important thing. Beauty and anti-aging happens from the inside out. I believe that eating a plant-based diet is essential to long term health and wellness.
I can still go to my favorite restaurants, but my choices are different. In fact, when I had the vegetarian menu at the world-renowned French Laundry, everyone I was with wished they'd done the same once they saw and tasted my dishes. When there are no vegetarian options, politely asking if the chef could whip something up for me has always worked. And I've learned how to make delicious vegetarian meals at home.
But I do struggle with some parts of this new life. I'd like to follow a vegan diet - but I still have the occasional cheesy pizza.

Fashion is also something I'm navigating and working out. I know I won't buy a fur and I don't want to buy leather again. I still have my old leather jackets and shoes. (It's been very interesting to learn that there are not many other vegan-friendly shoe options, at all.)
I've struggled with writing this because many people in my business are so judgmental. Some talk about following a plant-based diet as if it's all or nothing. If I say I'm vegetarian but get photographed wearing a leather jacket, I know to prepare for a sh*t-storm from the "vegan police." No one wants to be called a hypocrite; I'm a work in process. I'm understanding that this doesn't have to happen all at once. I know it will happen, though.
Changing a lifetime of habits disguised as tradition takes time. I don't know if I'll ever be completely vegan, but I do know I won't eat any type of meat or fish again. I get plenty of protein, and my B12 from shots or supplements. I've checked all my stats with my doctor. I'm healthy - and I feel good.
I'm not trying to preach or convert anyone, but I encourage you to research for yourself. Try the vegetarian and plant-based diet if you'd like, whether half the time or most of time. I want to inform and inspire people to live a healthier, more compassionate life.
Just one thing: if you run into me and want to talk about diets, let's not discuss protein or why animals were put here on earth.
Also, don't ask me why I'm a vegetarian. Instead, ask yourself why you are not.

You’ll Flip Over the Hottest New Workout Gear Just For Marvel Fangirls
As a fitness fanatic and self-proclaimed fangirl, I was pretty excited to test out the new line of workout gear from Marvel and Her Universe. The "Be a Hero" line provides comfort and also a cool, edgy style with thematic-inspired designs from Captain America to Iron Man. In my opinion, in an area where many of us dedicate a few good hours a day, there is not enough stylish, active gear on the market beyond the select pieces from Under Armour and Adidas. After weeks of testing during indoor and outdoor runs and circuit training from Colorado to Orlando, I can attest it is true - Marvel's new line of workout gear can survive a grueling, hardcore routine while also making a mega fashion statement.
Her Universe has changed the game for fangirls and has quickly risen to become a fashion-industry leader, offering unique looks from top franchises including Star Wars, Marvel, and Dr. Who. Founder and designer Ashley Eckstein is known for her designs that range from bold integration of iconic logos to fashionably subtle pieces that are more of an Easter egg, but this is her first foray in to activewear.
It definitely takes the right kinds of geeks to properly execute an activewear line that fangirls will respect both from a fashion point of view and functionality. Eckstein certainly has the credits to do it, serving as CEO of Her Universe by day and the voice of Ashoka Tano in Star Wars: The Clone Wars by night. For the "Be a Hero" performance videos, Eckstein teamed up with Marvel and Heidi Moneymaker, a stunt double that you might recongize as Marvel's Black Widow. She also helped create some of those iconic Black Widow fight scenes.
In addition to standard sizes, the collection is available for junior sizes XS-XL and plus sizes 1X-3X exclusively to Kohl's. Her Universe can be found at retailers like Disney Store, JCPenney, Kohl's, Macy's, Target, and Walmart. The new activewear line has strappy backs, trendy geometrics ,and flattering color palettes that make these workout clothes fun, yet also chic and modern. And I have a confession: when I wear them I feel a little more badass.
Check out photos of the products ahead, as well as an exclusive workout video with Eckstein and Moneymaker. And trust me - the Force is definitely with you when you gear up in Her Universe.

Shine Bright Like a Diamond: Easy DIY Jewelry Cleaner
When your favorite bling just doesn't have the same sparkle, instead of purchasing expensive cleaning solutions or bucking out for a professional scrubbing, try this easy DIY jewelry cleaner. Using ingredients you already have in your pantry, this concoction costs pennies to make and doesn't use any harsh chemicals - just the power of science. And you can give your old toothbrush a new life by gently scrubbing jewels postsoak. Before you know it, your special gems will be dazzling.
What You'll Need:
- Small bowl
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 tablespoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon dish detergent
- 1 cup hot water
- Aluminum foil
- Paper towel
- Old toothbrush
Directions:
- Gather what you need for making the jewelry cleaner. You can use your favorite dish detergent - or make your own - to add a serious grease-busting aspect to this concoction. The salt, baking soda, and aluminum foil create a chemical exchange called an ion transfer, which naturally cleans metals.
- Line the bowl with a square of aluminum foil, and then top with the salt, baking soda, and dish detergent. Now add the hot water and watch as the liquid fizzes. Drop in your jewelry and let sit in the cleaner for 10 minutes.
- Remove your jewelry and use the toothbrush to gently scrub around any prongs, groves in the jewelry, or gemstones. We tested this cleaner on gold, silver, sterling, diamonds, and other gems with glittering results. Rinse after cleaning, and pat dry.
- You'll love how your jewelry sparkles after the quick cleaning, which is safe to do over and over.

Study Finds Horrifying Link Between Scented Candles and Health Problems
Fall and Winter home decor wouldn't be complete without scented candles. Trust us, we love them as much as the next person (we even tested all the best pumpkin spice candles!), but recently discovered information has us seriously considering tossing them all out. Woman's Day and The Daily Mail have published results from multiple studies that link scented candles to major health risks - as serious as lung damage and birth defects.
What's even worse is that candles aren't the only culprits; scented aerosols, gels, and plug-ins are among "an array of hazardous substances which may cause lung damage and tumors, interfere with our hormones, and cause such lifelong problems as asthma," The Daily Mail reports. The scariest part? You don't even have to light the candles to be affected because "simple evaporation" can release the pollutants into the air. Common ingredients in many products are chemicals that you probably can't pronounce and that your body definitely doesn't want; these chemicals can even change the structure of your DNA.
Expectant mothers might want to be especially cautious of the types of candles they bring into their homes. Some studies' evidence suggests that hazardous substances can affect hormones, and in turn, cause problems with babies' hormonal development. Popular brand SC Johnson, which makes Glade products, is just one company that has faced backlash for its reportedly harmful synthetic ingredients, but the company directly addresses this information on its site and assures it uses "the most comprehensive database worldwide of safety evaluations for fragrance materials."
Of course, no study or statement is all-encompassing, but this information is unsettling at the very least. Will you think twice about your favorite scented candles, or is this habit just not worth giving up?
1 Reason You Should Use Apple's New Recycling Program
During Apple's keynote event earlier this week, the company announced its new recycling program - and it's pretty neat. You should definitely use it if you plan on getting the new iPhone SE. To maximize the amount of reusable materials from your old hardware, Apple introduced Liam, a deconstructing robot. Liam rescues cobalt and lithium from your battery, the gold and copper from your camera, and the silver and platinum from the main logic board so that they can be reused in future devices.
Apple is showing its appreciation for anyone who recycles an old device by releasing free wallpapers designed by Anthony Burrill. We can't say no to free wallpapers, especially when they're inspired by sustainability! You can download the wallpapers ahead (they are for the iPhone 6) or go to Apple's website to pick the proper size for your device. Check them out here and watch a video of Liam at work.

Kendall Jenner's Vogue Cover Is Downright Gorgeous - and Very Well-Deserved
Scoring your own cover of Vogue is a tough feat - it takes extraordinary talent to work your way onto the front of the publication and, for Kendall Jenner, plenty of catwalk domination. While her April issue - for which she poses in simple bikini bottoms and standout tops - is a special-edition feature available only to New York and LA subscribers, it'll be highly coveted.
For her editorial, Kendall discusses her business with fashion powerhouse Tory Burch, along with her social media prowess. But it's the thoughtful feedback that industry leaders like Michael Kors, Francisco Costa of Calvin Klein, and Karl Lagerfeld give Kendall that really stick with us. Read on to understand why this Kardashian-Jenner has a staying power all her own, then see Kendall model some of her favorite designers for the shoot, lensed by both Mario Testino and Theo Wenner.
"She is a very sweet person, very caring and not at all spoiled by those superficial successes. I must say I love her." - Karl Lagerfeld
"Her social-media reach is just incredible. She is a combination of things. She is beautiful. She exudes American ease. She's young. As a house, you become part of the culture by embracing someone like her." - Francisco Costa, Creative Director of Calvin Klein
"She's sophisticated but laid-back. She's both. She's chic. She's the Ali MacGraw for the Instagram generation. I remember when Ali first hit in Love Story, every girl in the world wanted to wear her hat. Kendall is Ali times a zillion." - Michael Kors
"She's a bit of a chameleon. She transforms really easily - all the best models can do that. There is something quite transformative about her." - Erdem Moralioglu
These Women Might Just Convince You That Flares Are the Most Flattering Jeans on the Planet
If you've spent the past few years religiously living in your skinny jeans, you aren't alone. But there's a new style on the rise - the flare. With the return of '70s style, they are back and better than ever.
Still, around our office, we've heard many women exclaim that flares "aren't their style" or "just aren't flattering." As a fashion editor, I felt it was my duty to at least try to change their minds. So I turned to Loft, which just released an entirely new line of denim, and challenged five different women, with a range of body types, to give them a try. Curious to know how the flared jeans fared? Read on to find out.

Why Yes, You Can Fly in Star Wars Planes
In the world of Star Wars, there is no try, there is only do - and one Japanese-based airline has decided to go where no other has before with the creation of three Star Wars-themed planes. ANA airlines, which previously announced in April that it would launch an R2-D2-themed plane, revealed that two other planes will also become part of the fleet.
The R2-D2 plane will be joined by another plane called the BB-8 ANA jet, named and decorated after a new droid character from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The third aircraft, the Star Wars ANA jet, will include both droids. Each plane will not only be decorated on the outside but on the inside as well, with headrest covers, napkins, and cups covered in characters from the movies. And if you're flying internationally on ANA, you'll get the chance to see any of the six Star Wars movies as part of the company's in-flight entertainment, making it the first time any of these films are part of the flying experience. Considering the themed planes are part of a five-year promotional partnership between ANA and The Walt Disney Company, we wonder what else the airline might have up its sleeve for fans.
But you can't book your flight on all the planes just yet! Only two planes have started flying. The R2-D2 ANA jet started service on Oct. 18, with different international and Japanese flight routes depending on the time of year. In November, the Star Wars ANA jet began to soar, but only in Japan. And the BB-8 ANA jet will fly international routes between Japan and North America beginning March 27. Once the planes are ready to go, anyone will be able to see their schedule on a website devoted to the Star Wars planes so that it's not entirely a guessing game.
We know we feel this excitement around lots of Star Wars news, like the new Disney theme parks based on the movies, but the force is seriously strong with these planes. Look ahead to see the concept designs of how they will appear and start saving your money now.

How to Use the Night Shift Mode on iOS 9.3
Apple knows you value your sleep probably as much as you value your iPhone, which is why it's rolled out a useful new feature in the latest iOS update. The feature, called Night Shift, is available only on iOS 9.3, and it should help reduce your eye strain late at night.
Night Shift mode is easy to use and set up. It makes your display warmer at night, so that your eyes aren't trying to focus extrahard on your phone screen. You can either choose to start a scheduled time or let it happen automatically. If you go with the latter option, your iPhone uses your geolocation to find out when the sunset and sunrise is to adjust your screen display settings.
This handy feature won't just be easier on your eyes. You can also use it to save your precious battery life - but there's a catch. To use both "Low Power Mode" and Night Shift, you need to first turn on low power mode. Then, ask Siri to "Enable Night Shift."
Keep reading to see how to turn on this hack from both your settings and control center. Then read up on what else you might've missed from Apple's event on March 21.

3 Reasons You'll Love Michelle Phan's New Comic Book Series
We all have lofty dreams when we're kids, but accomplishing them? That's something else entirely. Yet YouTube beauty star, Michelle Phan, is doing just that. Her latest venture includes debuting a digital comic book series, Helios: Femina. The series, which is only available on LINE Webtoon, features a heroine finding out the truth of who she really is and accepting her destiny.
That plot line sounds very familiar to Phan's own life and how she came to begin writing the series. She first started writing it when she was eleven years old, but put it on the back burner as she followed other passions. The elements of the story have stayed the same - despite growing up. "I'm older and my perspective has changed immensely," said Phan. "I can develop characters in a way that's more dimensional and not as calculating."
It Shakes Up the Traditional Comic Book World
With that said, Phan is hoping to break new ground in the ways comic books are created and distributed. Choosing LINE Webtoon, a digital-only publisher, was an obvious and calculated choice. "Having the ability to create a universe where I'm not limited by pages, I'm not limited by the type of paper I have to use, how expensive the coloring might be, printing it," said Phan. "Really, I'm given a blank slate where I can build a universe and go freely." LINE Webtoon, similar to YouTube, is powered by user-generated content. There is an approval process but virtually anyone can create and upload a comic and have people from anywhere read it. The design of LINE Webtoon is also familiar to those used to consuming content on a computer or mobile device. Users can pick a long scroll format where you can just keep reading, and as a creator, you can add in other interactive parts to your story. "I could have gone the traditional way and done the tried and true method of a graphic novel or a manga," said Phan. "I wanted a challenge [though]. I wanted to work with a new format that was different, that wasn't like a book because I don't really write books; I produce content online."
This Is For Phan's Followers, as Much as It Is For Her
Since it's online, Phan is hoping her followers - over eight million on YouTube alone - love and treasure her comic book series. She believes the format, its free availability, and the connection to Phan will draw them to the comic book. "What I think will draw a lot of my followers to check out my comic is that they know I've been wanting to do this for a really long time," said Phan. "So a lot of my followers have been following me for over 10 years and a lot of them know I've always wanted to go into story telling, the comic industry. So really in a sense, this is their way to commemorate this exciting new adventure for me, too."
Phan Wants People to Be Inspired From the Comic Book Series
While Phan is happy she'll have her followers join on her on this new journey, she hopes this pushes them to follow their own dreams as well. She understands that not everyone can follow their dream at the time they think of it, but also knows that not everything has to be rushed. Sometimes, it means "clear[ing] out the noises that one might go through from work, stress, everyday struggles of time," and other times it means finding the right team to work with you. That's a lesson Phan learned immediately while drawing out her comic book series. "Finding these team members is so important because essentially, you're trying to find someone who's better than you at what you're doing," said Phan. Though she didn't set out to specifically seek out female team members or advice from female comic book creators, she wants to learn more as she continues through this process.
Phan's comic book series officially launches today, with the first three chapters of the 26-part series out now. After today, anyone can download the new chapters every Sunday, beginning with March 27. To commemorate the occasion, Phan spoke at this year's South by Southwest festival in a panel titled "Women in Digital Comics." For now, she's not expecting too much about the release of the comic book series. ". . . What I'm most looking forward to is getting my comic out there and interacting with my followers on a new platform," said Phan. "I'm not expecting anything. I just want to tell a story and fulfill a childhood dream."

NASA Just Released the Coolest Video You Will See All Week, Maybe Ever
NASA scientists captured images of a supernova, or an exploding star, for the first time yesterday and we are totally transfixed by the video. While NASA has been able to see supernovae for some time, they were only capable of obtaintaing video of the ephemeral flash by monitoring 500 galaxies every 30 minutes for three years. And we're so elated they did.
Scientists used a Keplar space telescope to catch the star as it burst - it's the same telescope that has successfully discovered thousands of other planets. The supernova in the video, technically named KSN 2011d, is a red supergiant, which has the greatest volume of all the star classifications though they are not the biggest stars in size. Supergiants are also considered to be some of the most luminous stars - and that's definitely apparent here! Keplar was able to spot KSN 2011d's 20-minute blast, despite being 1.2 billion light years away. We're not exactly sure how far away that is, but we're positive Google Maps cannot get you there. The discovery is a monumental step in dissecting the life cycle of stars and it's especially indicative of how different classifications of stars end their life cycles. As NASA analyzes its findings, we're just going to sit mesmerized by the supernova's explosion. Maybe after several hundred loops we'll watch this video of two black holes colliding.

The First and Last Lines of the Harry Potter Books Will Send You on a Roller Coaster of Emotions
