Huda Kattan's New Lipstick Formula Will Make You a Liquid Matte Convert
As a self-professed lipstick addict, I've long been a fan of matte liquid formulas. That said, I'm the first to admit that not all formulas are created equally. Some are so impossibly drying that you feel like your pout was attacked with a sandblaster. Others remain ultra creamy for hours after application, so they wear off your mouth and into your meal. I had resigned myself to all these (admittedly undesirable) side effects in the name of a dramatic pucker until I tested out Huda Kattan's new Liquid Matte lipstick ($20).
Huda herself is undoubtedly a beauty genius. Aside from being a vlogger, makeup artist, and one of the top influencers on Instagram, she has a powerhouse makeup line. Until now, it's consisted of fluttery false lash strips and Lip Contour pencils. Considering that her creamy, durable lip liners quickly became essentials in my beauty bag, I had high standards for the Liquid Mattes, and I was not disappointed.
Her formula is almost surprisingly wet and runnier than others you may have played with, but this is actually a blessing. Because the formula takes longer to dry, you have more time to work with the color and shape your lips. After about 60 seconds, the liquid sets but is slightly tacky to the touch. This is also a bonus. Your pucker will never feel dehydrated or crusty (yuck), and you can layer on coat after coat without the pigment showing any chunky buildup. I experimented with slicking on a few shades - with total ease! - to create a more dimensional, ombré lip look.
The longwear quality of the formula is also impressive - I ate, drank, and even slept in these lipsticks successfully with no flaking or dissolution. However, in the areas where the color faded, it did so evenly, not in large patches. I also loved the scent! It was redolent of true vanilla extract in the tube, instead of the more plastic-like aromas found in other makeup products. On the lips, it dried down to a more subtle cake batter fragrance.
But by far, the best part of the Liquid Matte launch is the color options. The selection leans heavily towards '90s pinks, browns, and vampy hues, with the exception of a few vibrant reds and pinks. While Huda lists the milky chocolate shade "Flirt" and cool red "Heartbreaker" as her favorites, I am living for "Venus," a warm, light mauve. I apply it well outside my natural lip line to get that coveted Kylie-esque grunge pucker.
You can shop all 16 shades when they launch on July 29, which happens to be National Lipstick Day - a holiday that the Huda Beauty brand owns the rights to. In the meantime, read on to scope out which colors you need in your collection, see swatches on different skin tones, and even witness how they hold up to running water (spoiler: they don't budge).
This Woman's Secret Rainbow Hair Will Make You Want Underlights ASAP
Bright rainbow hair is enticing, but hiding hues throughout your natural strands also adds a fun element of surprise.
One YouTube user utilized the hidden rainbow technique to show off a sneaky patch of color in a video. At first glance only her platinum-blond locks are visible, but when she flips her mane over, she reveals neon shades. Her colorful coif is courtesy of the underlights hair dye technique.
Instead of painting your entire head with various pigments, underlights are focused beneath the top layer of your hair. Color is placed in the back so that it can be hidden by the rest of your strands. When your strands are down, your natural tint will cover the rainbow streaks. However, when you put your hair into an updo, you get to show off your secret color. The trick is perfect for ladies looking to dabble in the rainbow trend without making a superbold statement. Watch the video above to see her hair transform, and check out more edgy examples of underlights to get inspired.
6 Tips You Might Not Know For Looking (and Feeling) Better With a Hangover
We're all about moderate (and safe) alcohol consumption, yet when you're having a lot of fun, drinking a few more Fireball ginger ales doesn't seem like that terrible of an idea. (Perhaps Fireball was our first mistake.) Then the morning comes, and it all sets in: you have a hangover - on a weekday, no less - and it can feel like a death sentence. Adulting can be so hard, can't it?
If there's anything you can do to help with feeling like The Walking Dead (outside of taking some Aleve and sleeping the rest of the day), it's looking alive. You might not feel like a normal, functioning human, but you can look like one with a few tips:
Use a makeup-removing towel. If you can, wash off your makeup as soon as you stumble in the door. Do not opt for a lazy-girl makeup wipe routine - your skin will not forgive you in the morning, as many of them are loaded with alcohol, and you've clearly had enough. Instead, use a makeup-removing cloth. They only require hot water and can be a refreshing way to pamper your hammer-timed skin.
Exfoliate the next morning. Exfoliating the next day will help get rid of any residue, dirt, or debris from the night before and will also give your skin a nice glow by sloughing off dead skin. Try a product with papaya enzymes for gentle exfoliation with results you can see immediately.
Drink coconut water. You know you need to chug lots of water while you drink, but if you had, you probably wouldn't be hungover. So in addition to guzzling H2O in the morning, drink coconut water. It contains a lot of potassium, a nutrient you lose a ton of when you drink. (Those frequent trips to the bathroom can do that to you.) Or, the next morning, eat a banana.
What are your favorite hangover tips? Be sure to watch the video to learn all of our best advice, and let us know yours in the comment section.

Luke Cage Is a Groundbreaking Piece of Modern TV, and the Whole Cast Knows It
On Sept. 30, Marvel's Luke Cage will drop on Netflix. While it's exciting to see another addition to the ever-growing comic book universe, this particular venture is so much more than just a superhero show. It features a predominantly black cast, with stars like Mike Colter, Alfre Woodard, Mahershala Ali, and Simone Missick at the helm. It's the first time we're seeing a black superhero (and also a female black superhero, for that matter) as the central focus. On Thursday, many members of the Luke Cage cast showed up at Comic-Con in San Diego to discuss the show, and they couldn't help but gush about this special piece of television history. Keep reading to find out why it's so important in terms of inclusion, equal opportunities, and representation.
Cheo Hodari Coker (Creator)
- "If there's any pressure, it's just that we want to see more people get these opportunities. So, the pressure just comes from trying to make the best show possible. So, people will say, 'Well, hey! Maybe if we do open up these opportunities, maybe if we do tell different stories, then hey, that's cool!' So, it's like, this is part of a renaissance."
- "I'm the father of three. Ten-year-old twins and a 4-year-old daughter. And I go to the movies with them all the time. I remember when I took the twins to see Captain America: Winter Soldier. And when they saw Falcon get on the scene, the excitement in their eyes. And just the fact that it was a hero that looked like them. I really, for the first time, saw the power of that. It made me really excited to do the show."
Alfre Woodard (Mariah Dillard)
- "One of the exciting things about this, besides the fact that he's bulletproof and all that . . . is that it's Harlem, baby. And Harlem has been so many things for African-Americans for so long. And I love that fact. Cheo knows Harlem, knows the history, knows the culture. And so this piece - you know, all of these Marvel superheroes - the neighborhood is a character . . . We came to Harlem because it was Harlem. You don't want to come to Harlem, buy in, and then want to get rid of the drum circle."
- "[Harlem is] everybody together. It was the scribing of the African-American. And you know, at an African-American table, everyone is welcome. But when you come, you gotta say, 'This is home,' not like, 'I'm bringing my home into your house.' It's a way to do that."
- "[The show] acknowledges what's happening present day, and it complicates it. The relationship between law enforcement, superheroes, and people that bend the law. Which, most successful business people do bend the law . . . That's one thing I love about Cornell Stokes, is that he's a man that has used everything at his disposal to be successful. And that's what black men used to have to use."
- "The motherf*cker is bulletproof!"
Simone Missick (Misty Knight)
- "Misty Knight is one of the first African-American female superheroes. We've never seen a show of color for superheroes. So, when we read these things, it's not a limitation, it's more like, 'Aw, yes! I get to do this? Yes, I will do this! You want me to . . . yes, I will do that!'"
- "I think specifically, speaking to playing Misty Knight, it was great to play a character who we've never seen before. We've never heard anyone speak her words. So there was no pressure in that sense, of going, 'Oh, but Halle Berry did it,' you know? And, 'How can I fit into those shoes?' It's like, these are your own shoes. So, it feels the same way with the show. There's a responsibility to the story, and to tell it accurately. And to be fair and honest to the people that you're representing."
- "I think, a lot of times, as a woman, you are either a wife, or a girlfriend, or a best friend. And in this opportunity, you get to see . . . Misty as a person who has a very strong moral compass, who is absolutely dedicated to protecting her community. And that, you don't see a lot of on TV. And so that was, I think the proudest moment, was to be a person who believes in the system. Even though, if you look in our current times, it's difficult to believe in the system."
Mike Colter (Luke Cage)
- "I tend to deflect because luckily, I didn't read a lot of Luke Cage growing up, so I wasn't overwhelmed by the opportunity . . . So, I look at history, and I look at what Luke Cage is, and how he's becoming the first black superhero that's brought to television. I look at it as a guy who's literally, you know, he's unaware of it in the sense that I'm unaware of it."
- "I would say, ultimately, the older generation, the people that are older than I, they walk up to me and say, 'Man, I've been waiting for so long for this character to be brought to life.' And, 'Great job, I can't wait for the series.'"

8 Potential Bachelor in Paradise Couples
The third season of Bachelor in Paradise returns on Aug. 2, and it's set to be a real treat. For the uninitiated, Bachelor in Paradise is if you gathered all the rejected candidates from both franchises and stuck them on an island with no food but all the booze. It's basically The Bachelor on Chad's steroids. (FYI, he will be there.) So, with the season premiere imminent and the cast list revealed, we decided to pair some of them up, you know, for fun!
Rejoice! The Stars of Scandal Reunite For Season 6
Scandal's fifth season wrapped up with an explosive, politically charged finale back in May, and while the show isn't officially set to return until 2017 due to star Kerry Washington's second pregnancy, the cast reunited for a table read this week and gave us a glimpse of their cute bond via social media. On Monday, Washington - as well as costars Tony Goldwyn, Darby Stanchfield, and Katie Lowes - took to Twitter and Instagram to share snaps and videos of themselves gearing up for season six and generally enjoying each other's company.
9 of the Most Underrated Characters on Orange Is the New Black
Orange Is the New Black is a show full of unforgettable characters. From conniving hipster drug mules to authoritative Russian cooks, pretty much every character leaps out at you in each of the show's scenes. There are, however, the outliers, the characters we overlook because they're either so quiet or outrageous, we don't understand the gems they truly are underneath. Here is a listing of the most underrated characters in Litchfield. Beware: there are spoilers ahead!
Olivia and Fitz's 11 Most Scandalous Sex Scenes
Since Scandal's inception, the main focus of the hit drama has been Olivia Pope and President Fitzgerald Grant. Though watching her team of gladiators tackle insane political cases with ease is fantastic, the will-they-or-won't-they pull of "Olitz" takes the cake. Whether you're rooting for Olivia and Fitz or prefer her with Jake, there's no denying that the president and his mistress have a way of lighting up the screen. Throughout the show's five seasons, we've seen plenty of scandalous moments, including them getting frisky in the Oval Office, sharing heated kisses with the Secret Service a few steps away, and even epic "one-minute" stare-downs that are arguably even more intimate than their sex scenes. Keep reading for 11 of the steamiest moments - so far. With the show back for the new season, there will surely be plenty more to come.
The Bachelorette: 1 Guy Crashed the Rose Ceremony, But It’s Not What You Think
You know the classic love story: Boy meets girl, girl meets 25 boys, girl falls in love with two out of the three final boys, and she lives happily ever . . . confused? Well, that's the case for now.
In this week's episode of The Bachelorette, the remaining three men got a chance to spend an overnight date in the Fantasy Suite with JoJo. Robby and Jordan were the first two to spend their days exploring Thailand and their nights doing, well, whatever one does in a beautiful room lined with candles. Each of the men told JoJo that they loved her, and although she didn't (or couldn't) say it back to them, she clued in the audience that she was in love with both men. And if you're sensing a little déjà vu here, it's because last season Ben Higgins had told JoJo and Lauren Bushnell (who ultimately got the final rose) that he loved both of them too. Thankfully, JoJo hasn't said those words to either of the men, though.
When it came time for her third date in paradise with Chase, things took a different turn. The second half of the date was going as the other two had been – dinner by the beach accompanied by wine and dim lighting. Then JoJo presented Chase with the Fantasy Suite card invite and he accepted, of course, and the two made their way there.
Up until this point, Chase had let JoJo know that he was falling for her but had yet to say the three big words. He even noted that he has never been the first to say "I love you" to a girl before. So when Chase finally said, "I think after today, especially after tonight, I'm definitely not scared and I want to say that I'm 100 percent in love with you" . . . let's just say that it didn't take a brain surgeon to read the expression on JoJo's face. She excused herself to go outside and after some thinking and tearing up, went back inside.
"When you said that to me, like in my heart and in my gut, I don't think I felt what I thought I was going to feel," JoJo said to Chase. Is this situation ideal? Of course not. But what would have been worse would have been if she continued the night with him, all the while knowing how she really felt.
Chase was (understandably) upset and angry. I mean, he did just pour his heart out on national television only to be dumped right after. Chase said that he shouldn't have said those words to her and was embarrassed about it. A sobbing JoJo tried to make the situation better, saying that she didn't give him the Fantasy Suite invite knowing that she wasn't in the same place as him at the moment.
Fast-forward to the rose ceremony where Robby and Jordan obviously notice that Chase isn't there. JoJo is just in the middle of telling the men that she sent Chase home when he appears at the top of the staircase at the rose ceremony. This is the point where every person watching the show promptly had to pick their jaws up off the floor.
"Hey, can I talk to you for a second?" Chase asked JoJo. (As a side note, I truly hope that we all have the opportunity to make that kind of dramatic entrance at least once in our lives.) The two sat on a nearby bench and Chase began, "I care too much to let our relationship end the way it did the other night. I think, you know, I was shocked." He made it clear that he wasn't asking for a second chance, but he still had a lot of love for her. We can't blame Chase for being upset and angry, but luckily he had some time to think about the events that had just gone down.
"But I'm here just to tell you that I'm proud of you, I'm impressed by you, I admire you, I think you're amazing," Chase said. "Most of all, I want you to know I'm not mad at you."
Talk about maturity and making things right! Now if only all exes could end on such a good note then we wouldn't have to subtweet and stalk each other's Instagram accounts.

This Is the 1 Product You Need to Remove Stubborn Longwear Lipstick
There are plenty of legitimate reasons that I'm obsessed with liquid matte lip color. The pigment dries quickly, lasts for hours, and won't smear off onto my date. But the biggest downside of these longwear products is their removal. At this point, it feels like I've wasted whole hours scouring my pucker with sugar scrubs in the hopes of erasing the stains left behind. Even worse, the often-painful aftereffects of this time-consuming process have caused me (and my tender lips) to take a break from these mattes.
However, after months of searching for a solution, I've discovered relief in the form of a makeup remover. Ciaté London Makeup Melter ($22) was designed with stubborn longwear formulas in mind (including waterproof mascara). Unlike most traditional cleansers, Makeup Melter is a nongreasy balm that you massage directly into lashes, lips, or skin. As you rub it in, the product turns into a soothing oil that breaks down longwear potions, reducing them to just their pigments. Once you can tell your makeup has fully dissolved, you use water to rinse your face clean.
Because Makeup Melter contains murumuru butter (the rich extract of palm tree seeds), it's intensely conditioning and nourishing. That means your skin will never feel stripped after cleansing - as is so often the case when removing aggressive formulas. So far, I've put the unscented treatment to the test on Huda Beauty Liquid Matte, Kylie Lip Kit, and Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick. Just a mere swipe made all three as easy to remove as lip balm. If you're as obsessed with durable makeup as I am, you need to add Makeup Melter to your stash ASAP.
Answered: What, Exactly, Is Cellulite?
This is the no-nonsense cellulite article you've been looking for. We're not here to BS you about miracle potions and we're not here to shuttle you off to a room full of magic, cellulite-banishing lasers. We're addressing what cellulite is, how it forms, and why people of all shapes and sizes - including fitness buffs - develop it. We're also here to walk you through cellulite treatments (no sugarcoating involved). And we are OK with breaking the news that, ultimately, there's no way to remove 100 percent of your cellulite.
How and Why Cellulite Develops
Fun fact number one: Roughly 85 percent of women have cellulite.
Fun fact number two: Cellulite isn't about your weight.
"Cellulite is not just about fat, but rather about the structure of the skin," explained board-certified dermatologist Marnie Nussbaum, who specializes in cosmetic dermatology. "It is hypothesized that the circulation under the skin slows, causing fat cells to swell. The elastic bands that hold down the fat gradually weaken, enabling the fat cells in between the bands to pop out and cause the dimpling effect."
Dr. Nussbaum adds that while weight gain and poor diet may increase the development of cellulite, hormones - and the genetic predisposition of slowed circulation, as described above - are the leading causes. In other words, a woman can be at her ideal weight and still have cellulite while a woman who weighs more can be dimple-free.
Over-the-Counter Cellulite Treatments
So just how much hope can you put into all those creams that promise smooth skin? Not a ton. Remember, there's no way to remove 100 percent of cellulite. Still, some can slightly improve skin texture.
"When choosing an at-home lotion or firming cream, look for one that is formulated with antioxidants, as this works to attack free radicals that tend to break down healthy skin cells," Dr. Nussbaum said. "[Additionally], products formulated with caffeine can increase circulation and temporarily shrink fat cells, as well as evenly distribute water between fat cells for a smoother appearance."
Another option is dry brushing, which is exactly what it sounds like. You use a specialized brush to massage the skin, which helps exfoliate, brighten, stimulate circulation, and slightly improve texture.
Products that promise to instantly or completely firm, tone, or remove cellulite aren't giving it to you straight. They may temporarily mask the appearance of cellulite by tightening or smoothing the skin, but these effects last 24 hours, tops, or until you wash off the product.
In-Office Cellulite Treatments
When it comes to the most effective ways to treat cellulite, Dr. Nussbaum advises that those performed at your dermatologist's office are your best bet. However, that comes with the same disclaimer as over-the-counter remedies: you won't see a 100 percent reduction, and there's no treatment that will work on every single patient. Add to that the expense of a doctor service - and often the need to repeat them - and you're talking about a serious investment with a potentially minimal return.
If you want to go the in-office route, though, Dr. Nussbaum has a couple of suggestions.
"Certain infrared and radiofrequency lasers use heat to tighten the collagen bands and break up the fat cells, giving a potentially smoother look. These often only last a few months [and] results vary widely," Dr. Nussbaum said. "Ultrasound can also be used to target pockets of fat in conjunction with lasers to tighten collagen bands. However, again, results are temporary and not permanent."
Another option you might have heard of is subcision. For this service, the surgeon uses a needle to physically break up collagen bands under the skin. Dr. Nussbaum said that "research has shown that it is not all that effective and causes bruising and pain." #nothanks
The Bottom (Get It?) Line
We're not trying to be a Debbie Downer, but cellulite is pretty much impossible to prevent - especially if you're genetically predisposed - and is not likely to go away.
"There are ways to improve the overall look and texture of the skin, but it is important to note that there are no treatments that are permanent, achieve 100 percent resolution, or work for every patient. They can only temporarily achieve a reduction in appearance of cellulite," Dr. Nussbaum stressed. "Expectations must be realistic and tempered with physician guidance."
Cellulite research is still underway, so there may be hope yet for those of you who can't stand your dimples. Meanwhile, you can embrace your body - marks, dimples, warts, lines, and all - and keep treating yourself well by eating right, exercising often, and drinking lots of water.

You're eating a snack or a meal at the dinner table and what do you see? Your dog's eyes just pleading for a taste. Love Dogs but Suffer From Allergies? Here's What to Do
Problem: you love dogs, but you're allergic to them. You lean down to pet an adorable puppy, and suddenly you're sneezing. Pet dander sets off your immune system, which overreacts and causes a plethora of unfun symptoms. If this describes you, then you're part of the 15 percent of the population allergic to pets. What's a dog-crazy person to do? Do you have to give up puppies altogether? Say it ain't so!
Don't worry. Just because you have pet dander allergies doesn't mean you have to forgo owning a pet. You do have to be a little extra cautious about eliminating fur from your living space, but it's not as hard as you might think. We've got the scoop on simple, everyday strategies for reducing allergens from pets. These four practical tips emphasize prevention and can help allergy sufferers experience the joy of pet parenthood.
1. Baths and Brushing
Grooming gets the job done. No matter how fluffy your pet, a regular grooming routine will help to reduce allergens in your home. It's important to note that you're not actually allergic to your dog's fur. Instead, your immune system is overreacting to the dander, which are the dead skin flakes present in all that fluff. Er, yeah. Pet parenthood can be gross - which doesn't make us love our dogs any less.
Luckily, strategies for getting rid of pet fur will also help you get rid of the dander. This is where your grooming routine becomes key. Bathing your dog frequently removes the dead skin flakes that cause all that sneezing. In fact, giving your pet plenty of baths can reduce allergens by as much as 84 percent.
Just be sure to use a mild, pet-friendly shampoo, as you don't want to dry out your dog's skin. There are even shampoos and wipes specifically designed to reduce dog allergens while remaining gentle on your pet.
When it comes to brushing, there are lots of great pet hair removal tools that range from low-tech (rubber glove, anyone?) to high-end. Whatever you use for grooming, it's a good idea to get the fur removal done outdoors. That's right. When possible, brush your dog outside! This simple tip will reduce the likelihood of pet dander sticking around your home.
2. Allergen-Resistant House
Are you ready for this? For dog-lovers with pet dander allergies, it all comes down to one simple tip.
Get rid of the carpet.
True, that can be a big step. But consider that carpet is a likely spot for pet hair to hide - and those allergens can stick around for a long time, causing symptoms year-round. If you can swing it, have the carpet pulled up and replaced with dog-friendly flooring like laminate, tile, or hardwoods.
Even if it's not possible to get rid of your carpet, you can reduce trapped pet dander by ensuring that certain parts of your home are dog-free. This is particularly important for your sleeping area. As cuddly as your dog can be, don't let her sleep on your bed. Keeping your pet out of the bedroom will keep the allergens off your pillow.
3. Vacuum Power and Laundry Day
OK, so your dog has a tendency to hop that baby gate and sprawl out on your bedroom floor anyway. No worries: a powerful vacuum will still prevent pet fur from invading your space. A great vacuum is an allergy sufferer's friend. A HEPA filter is especially effective for keeping your home allergy-free.
Pro tip: Once you have the right vacuum, make sure you empty it outside! If you put those piles of fluff in your outdoor garbage can, you'll prevent clouds of pet dander from lingering in the house.
Frequently washing bedding - your own as well as your pet's - is another critical step for reducing pet dander. It helps to have dedicated dog blankets and beds for your pet, which you can wash often.
4. Proper Nutrition For Your Dog
Can your dog's food really make a difference when it comes to pet allergies? In a word, yes. Making sure that your dog is eating a nutrient-rich food that contains plenty of omega-3 or omega-6 fatty acids should help. These nutrients ensure a shinier, stronger coat of fur.
Also, providing plenty of fresh drinking water keeps your pet hydrated, which in turn leads to a healthier skin and coat.
What About Hypoallergenic Dog Breeds?
If your allergies reach a critical point and prevention just isn't helping, you can always search for a hypoallergenic dog breed. Keep in mind that no dog is truly 100 percent dander-free, but there are around 20 breeds that produce less dander and often shed less, as well.
Check out 13 of the most popular hypoallergenic dog breeds here. Many of these dogs, such as poodles, have hair rather than fur - but that's not the reason they're considered good for allergy sufferers! In fact, it's because they have a single, rather than a double, coat - so you can expect less shedding.

Droopy Dog Tongues Don't Always Denote Thirst
Am I the only pet owner who's tried to shove a bowl of water under my pup's dangling tongue . . . only to have him turn his nose up at it? I didn't realize that just because his tongue was out, it didn't mean he wanted a drink. Dogs hang their tongues out when they are hot (sometimes they're also thirsty), but it's actually a way to cool themselves off.
Typically, pups pant and breathe in air through their noses and release the air through their mouth - when the mouth's open, the saliva can evaporate, producing a cooling effect! So if your choosy pooch doesn't choose water when he's outside, just know his body's working to further cool down his blood flow just by that cute technique.

Puppy With Birth Defect Escapes Euthanasia and Beats All Odds
Bronson the puppy wasn't supposed to live. The chocolate Labrador Retriever was born with a cleft palate in a litter of nine, and his owners opted to have him euthanized as most puppies born with cleft palates don't live very long. The cleft palate makes eating very difficult for puppies, and oftentimes they starve to death. One vet tech, however, wanted to give Bronson a chance. She took the puppy home and watched him practically 24/7 to make sure he was eating and his cleft palate wasn't causing him any trouble. She documented their lives for a year, showing Bronson growing bigger and eventually getting surgery on his mouth. Scroll through the gallery to see their incredible story.

The Story of This Dog Rescued From a Meat Farm Will Absolutely Stun You
Image Source: Facebook user The San Francisco SPCA
In mid-February 2016, Humane Society International was able to shut down a Korean dog-meat farm - cold, exposed to the elements, and stuck in cages for their entire lives, the dogs who were rescued had never experienced human kindness. Sixty-four of them were transported to the San Francisco SPCA to begin anew, but what happened when they arrived stateside was unlike anything rescuers had ever expected.
One of the rescues, a Golden Retriever named Casey, had a much different reaction to her newfound freedom than any of the other meat farm rescues. While her furry peers were frightened and unsure about life outside a tiny cage, Casey responded well to humans, leashed walks, and even a regimented bathroom schedule. Rescuers at the SFSPCA realized that Casey had likely been somebody's pet before ending up at the Korean meat farm. They weren't sure how she ended up being raised for slaughter, but Casey's new handlers were completely stunned - and so are we - by her sweet temperament and playful attitude despite everything she'd been through.
You can read Casey's full (mostly happy!) story in the above Imgur gallery, then keep up with the rest of the Korean pups and their rehabilitation journey on the SPCA's Facebook page.
A Dietitian Explains Why You Need to Ditch the Diet If You Want to Lose Weight
If you've been on every diet imaginable and are still not able to lose weight, a registered dietitian has some tips for you - not just for losing weight, but also for keeping weight off and actually enjoying the benefits of healthy living.
Having Trouble Losing Weight? It's Time to Meditate
Kimberly Gomer, RD and director of nutrition at Pritikin Longevity Center + Spa, is not a fan of diets - but she is a total expert in weight loss. Here's what she says will help you lose that weight and feel your healthiest.
- Don't go on a diet! Wait, what? Yep, she's serious. Gomer says not to go on a diet. Instead? Go on a "lifestyle change." She said, "Bring sleep, exercise, and healthy eating into your life." This way, you'll actually enjoy the benefits. Sounds nice to us!
- Find a sustainable eating plan. "Crash, fad diets won't last in the long term," said Gomer. If you can't stick to the diet for the rest of your life, then don't do it. "Once you revert back to your old eating habits, the weight will come back on."
- Don't multitask. By this she means don't eat while you're watching TV, using the computer, on the phone, driving, etc. Attune your brain to your stomach by focusing when you're eating. If you're doing other things while you're eating, Gomer said your "satiety signal" in your brain malfunctions (this means your brain doesn't know if you're full or not!).
- Practice mindful eating. Similar to the last point, be more conscious of why you're eating. Are you eating because you're actually hungry or because you're bored or stressed?
- Put the highest quality fuel in your body. Gomer equates this to fruits and vegetables. "Recent research shows that fruits and veggies make you happier!" She told us about a study showing people who ate eight servings a day of fruits and vegetables experienced happiness levels similar to when people land a new job.

The All That Cast Reunited to Talk the '90s, Britney Spears, and Giant Corn at Comic-Con
Twenty-two years after '90s Nickelodeon show All That dominated TV screens nationwide, four of the original cast members reunited at San Diego Comic-Con for a nostalgic panel devoted to memories about the show. Josh Server, Kel Mitchell, Danny Tamberelli, and Lori Beth Denberg answered questions on stage (alongside a fan-favorite All That prop: the giant ear of corn), recalling their favorite set stories and discussing the impact that '90s Nickelodeon had on fans' lives.
So, was life on the Nick show really "all that"? Here's what we learned from the panel!
The Legends of the Hidden Temple Movie Aims to Please Both '90s Fans and Today's Kids
How they remember the audition process for All That:
Lori Beth Denberg recalled auditioning for All That when it was still referred to as "Untitled Sketch Comedy Show" and credits her high school drama courses for helping her earn the opportunity. Josh Server and Kel Mitchell, who both hail from Chicago, said they already knew one another from other auditions in their hometown, so they were old friends by the time they were cast on the show.
Danny Tamberelli (who didn't join the cast until season four) and Kenan Thompson were already acting pros before hitting the All That set, both starring in different installments of The Mighty Ducks, which the rest of the cast teased Tamberelli about during the panel.
All That's special hazing rituals:
Because Tamberelli joined the cast later, he claimed that his fellow Nick actors "hazed" him by intentionally not laughing at his jokes. This worked out for the best, however, because it forced him to look at his own comedy with a critical eye, ultimately improving his timing and elevating his sense of humor!
The rest of the cast chuckled when remembering the excitement of Tamberelli's addition to the cast, with Server noting that the set boiled down to "teenage angst with a TV show."
The cast's favorite celebrity guests:
With so many celebrity guest-stars and musical performers to pick from, the cast had a hard time choosing their favorites. Server described what a privilege it was to work with comedy legend Chris Farley before his passing and Mitchell waxed poetic about the opportunity to rap with Busta Rhymes.
Denberg and Tamberelli had more humorous memories of their celebrity favorites, with Denberg noting how hilarious it was to bring an adult-favorite celebrity like Coolio into a kid-friendly environment like Universal Studios. Tamberelli might have the rest of his castmates beat, though, describing how he had to reshoot one sketch after ruining the scene by flagrantly staring at Britney Spears's butt. Whoops!
Scandalous on-set romances between cast members:
"We could not keep Kenan and Josh apart," joked Denberg when the panel was asked about crushes between cast members. The entire cast was quick to agree that there wasn't much drama or romance happening between the kids on set, because their relationship was more familial than romantic. "It was more 'brother and sister,'" described Server of the vibe on All That's set.
What it's like to reunite 22 years later:
"We get together and it's like no time has passed," Server noted affectionately of the cast, who were quick to hug, tease, and compliment one another during the panel. Though more than two decades have gone by, the group's endless inside jokes and teary laughter when recalling their past hijinks on set certainly proved his point.
Best memories when they think about '90s Nickelodeon:
Two of the All That veterans shared particularly special stories about their favorite snapshots of their time on set. Denberg recalled going to ride roller coasters at Universal Studios during her lunch break, because the Nickelodeon set was right inside the Orlando theme park. Twenty-two years later, she still recognizes how cool and unique the experience was.
Mitchell remembered how many kids and teens would approach him to share how All That was a reprieve from their tough home lives. Even when their parents were fighting or they were being bullied in school, he described, they had half an hour of TV that made them laugh - and being a part of that, to him, was an incredible privilege.
The Cheat Sheet to Washing Your Workout Clothes the Right Way
Activewear can be crazy expensive. The first time I bought a pair of full-priced Lululemon leggings, I had a miniature stroke; I had never paid that much for workout clothes. I kept them untouched with the tag on for days, just looking at this glorious, luxurious piece of athletic fashion - it was this treasured, unattainable thing that had finally become my possession, and it felt surreal. I imagine it's how my dad or brother would feel if they bought a Lamborghini. My Lambo was $100 yoga pants.
The glamour dissipates the moment you realize you're going to get really, truly, disgustingly sweaty in those treasured leggings. You're quite literally going to soil your expensive pants. Then you're going to toss them in the laundry, because gross. Sweat. Ew.
When you're returning your cherished activewear to its immaculately clean state, make sure you're doing it the right way. Improper washing and mindless missteps can destroy or significantly reduce the life of your workout clothes - and if you're like me, that is the last thing you want for your investment pieces. Even if you're not into the expensive stuff, you likely have a favorite pair of running shorts, the sports bra that fits you better than anything has ever fit you, or that one tank that just looks SO good on you. Very much like Beyoncé, they're irreplaceable.
Here's a helpful guide to the right way to wash your clothes so they stay clean, fresh, and in your rotation for years. We chatted with the experts over at Nashville-based activewear brand Harper Knit, which essentially affirmed our laundry routine and gave us some solid stain-removing tips, too!
- DO: Use the right detergent. Sport-specific detergents can help fight odor from intense sweat sessions and remnant bacteria. Many of these detergents are also made to protect technical sports fabric.
- DON'T: Use too much detergent. Did you know that too much detergent can actually cause a new kind of stink? The experts at Harper Knit told us that because the washer only puts in enough water to wash out a set amount of detergent, the excess detergent gets left behind in your clothes, "creating a perfect environment for fungal growth, which can lead to a mildew-type odor." GROSS.
- DO: Turn it inside out. Since most of the sweat and bacteria is on the inside of the material, flip your clothes inside out. This will also help to protect the color and any kind of detail on your clothes (like foil logos or printed designs).
- DON'T: Use fabric softener. This is probably the cardinal rule of activewear maintenance. This is threefold: for one, fabric softener coats the clothing, which can trap the bad smells. Awesome. Secondly, coating can build up over time and damage fabric. And thirdly, if your activewear is moisture-wicking (drawing sweat to the surface), fabric softener will inhibit this technology - and usually that's the technology that warrants the inflated price!
- DO: Use cold water. Keep it fresh, keep it cold. Use a cold, gentle cycle to prevent shrinkage and the breakdown of materials. You'll also notice that on nearly every piece of activewear you own, the instruction label says cold-water wash only.
- DON'T: Throw your clothes in the dryer. Air-dry always! This prevents pilling, decoration dulling, and melting off (particularly reflective detail) and aids in the overall longevity of your product. I've seen too many cute reflective Nike logos fall off and perfect pairs of yoga pants start to pill and unravel to let you make the same mistake. Just air-dry it.
- DO: Remove stains safely. So you wore your yoga pants to breakfast after your AM Vinyasa and dripped acaí all over yourself (trust me, I've been there too. . . . Did I mention those $100 yoga pants were white?). Maybe you have some hardcore sweat stains from working out super hard (badges of honor, honestly). Don't freak out - Harper Knit gave us a DIY stain-removing paste. Use three parts baking soda to one part water, rub the paste on the stain, and let it sit for 10 to 20 minutes before blotting it with a warm, damp towel. Then wash (with cold water, inside out, and no fabric softener!) - those nasty, set-in stains should be gone!
- DON'T: Let it sit in sweat. Your clothes are going to get smelly and nasty in a way that is hard to combat. If odor is a major issue for you, try soaking your clothes in half a cup of vinegar before tossing in the washer.
25 Amazing Yoga Poses Most People Wouldn't Dream of Trying
We've all had a Polly or Peter Pretzel in our yoga class, and admit it - you can't help but ogle a little at their awe-inspiring strength and flexibility. It's inspirational, and it gives a little insight into what years of practice can lead you to. But let's face it: some poses are just flat-out out of the question. Get ready to be wowed when you see these amazing advanced yoga poses. Would you try them?

This Woman Complied With Her Work's Infuriating Dress Code by Cosplaying
Some bosses are total sticklers when it comes to dress code in the workplace, but one employee just couldn't get a break from hers. June J. Rivas was continuously called out by her superior for her "unprofessional" appearance at work. Wearing her hair in a ponytail, in a scarf, and in pigtails was deemed inappropriate, even though the workplace's loose dress code is defined as "clean and pressed" - so she fought back with some cosplay.
In response to June's harassment complaint to HR, her boss implemented new standards that prohibit strapless clothing, hats, sandals, cleavage, exposed back, lace, and even "cultural head wraps," Rivas shared in a Facebook rant. Rivas reported her boss to the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and found the best loophole in the new dress code: cosplay. "I have come to work each day in an outfit that fits the guidelines she laid out . . . just . . . not QUITE the way she expected," Rivas wrote.
While she waits for a response from the EEOC, June's come to work in a number of geeky outfits that we can't get over. Check out all her awesome looks ahead.
Everything About the Studio Ghibli Exhibit in Japan Is AMAZING - See the Pics!
Studio Ghibli fans know just how magical and uplifting the movies are. It brings a sense of wonder to the films (and your life!) that almost no other franchise can do. It's why fans are regularly obsessed with gifts, tattoos, and cafes geared toward the animation studio. Well, now you can add one more activity to your bucket list: an amazing Studio Ghibli exhibit opened in Japan that has everything you could ever want to see.
The exhibit, called Ghibli Expo: From Nausicaä to its latest film, The Red Turtle, opened its doors on July 7 and runs through Sept. 11. It's located at the Roppongi Hills skyscraper in Japan, with tickets costing around $17. Anyone who visits will find posters, merchandise, and fun Ghibli treasures - and visitors will be able to experience things like posing with a real-life Catbus, view a suspended airship from Castle in the Sky, and more.
Fans will see more than 2,000 pieces of Studio Ghibli items, with no apparent order - an action done on purpose by Suzuki Toshio, a producer at the animation studio. "There are around 2,500 items on display, but they are not arranged chronologically starting from Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind," Toshio said to Nippon. "Instead, we just present everything in a haphazard way, just like memories are arranged in a filmgoer's mind."
Ahead, see photos from other fans who've visited and created some magical Studio Ghibli memories.

5 Megaformer Tips For a Lagree Method Newbie
I recently visited Los Angeles for the Kayla Itsines Sweat Tour - but made sure to pack my schedule with some other fun workouts in the LA area, too.
First on my list was a Megaformer class at The Studio (MDR) near Venice Beach, CA. One of my best friends had been telling me about the Lagree Method for months, and I was dying to try one of her favorite studios. In a frantic flurry of text questions, I asked her, "But wait, WTF is a Megaformer? Sounds terrifying. Is it like a transformer? Optimus Prime?" to which she responded with something to the tune of "It's a super gnarly version of a reformer machine - it's crazy." But her obsession with the class meant two things: it was a good workout, and it was working for her. I was sold.
Walking into the studio, my eyes locked on the room full of what looked like medieval torture machines, and I knew right away they were the Megaformers. To be clear, I've never even taken a reformer Pilates class. So not only was I new to the Megaformer, but I'd also never even been on a similar machine. "That's great," said my instructor, Melissa Kusack, "because this isn't Pilates!"
I loved this class for many reasons, even though I jumped in as a total beginner (an intimidated one at that). My instructor was kind, helpful, and so informative; I didn't disclose ahead of time that I work for POPSUGAR Fitness, and Melissa still gave me tons of attention, help, and adjustments to ensure that I had an excellent first experience. The format of the class was straightforward, easy to follow, and easy to modify for a newbie. And you know what? The machine totally wasn't a torture device . . . my abs and obliques might be on a different page, but that's their problem.
I've gathered up some of the best tips my instructor shared during class, so if you're trying to check out a Megaformer class near you, get your grip socks on, grab a bottle of water, and read on.
- Get familiar. One of the best things you can do before you get started with the Lagree Method? Get there early. "Arrive to class 10 to 15 minutes early so that the instructor can meet with you and familiarize you with the Megaformer," Melissa said. "Be sure to wear grippy socks, have water, and bring a towel - you will definitely sweat!" Once you're a little more familiar with the machine, you can follow along without stressing.
- Go slowly! The slower you go, the faster you change; I can totally attest to this, because there were definitely moments in my first class in which I wanted to rush through a muscle-burning move. "The Lagree Method is all about slow and controlled movements, targeting each and every muscle in a concentrated and focused manner," Melissa said. "Not only do we move slow to keep it safe, but also to engage your slow twitch muscles." This is a great way to burn fat (and lose weight), and as Melissa put it, it's "key in achieving a strong, toned body."
- Don't psych yourself out. Melissa's most important tip for beginners: "Don't be afraid to modify." You don't have to do everything to a T the first time! "The instructor will explain each exercise and call out modifications throughout class," she said. "These [modified] moves work just as great and help to perfect your form, in order to get you to the next level." And a reminder, it's OK to be a beginner! "Remember, everyone starts as a beginner, and the person next to you was once in your grippy socks," Melissa said. She noted that it can take anywhere from five to 10 classes to get comfortable on the Megaformer, so "don't get discouraged; this workout is truly life-changing!"
- Be consistent. But don't forget to give yourself breaks between workouts, so your muscles can adjust (trust me on this one - my abs were awakened). "Consistency and rest are incredibly important when it comes to the Lagree Method," Melissa told me. "Commit to the workout, but also pace yourself and take those rest days." The workout is 50 minutes long - it goes a long way.
- It's OK to shake! Very much like in barre classes, shaking is a sign of strength, so Melissa recommends embracing it. She said, "The more you shake, the stronger you are becoming!" If the shaking is intimidating, Melissa reminds you to "believe in yourself, own your body, smile, and have fun!"

14 Show Dogs Die in Hot Truck After Air Conditioning Malfunctions
In a completely tragic turn of events this past weekend, 14 show dogs died in the back of a truck after the air conditioner shorted out. The owner of the truck, Cortney Corral-Morris, also owned six of the 14 dogs, and all of them were in Roseland, IN, for the Michiana Kennel Club AKC Dog Show. Corral-Morris had been keeping the dogs in the back of the truck outside a hotel for a few days with no issues. The truck was plugged into power on the exterior of the hotel, according to the South Bend Tribune. Corral-Morris had fed, watered, and exercised the dogs, 13 of which were Golden Retrievers and one a Brittany Spaniel, on Friday before going into the hotel for a nap. During the two hours she was inside, the air conditioning in the truck somehow malfunctioned, leaving the dogs trapped in the hot vehicle. Corral-Morris discovered them all dead that evening.
Genny Carlson, executive director of the St. Joseph's County Humane Society, told the Daily Mail, "[Corral-Morris] is beside herself. She is heartbroken." Corral-Morris is complying fully with the investigation, being handled by the Humane Society and the local police, and has informed the other dog owners of the tragic news.
