1. Pack in layers:
Layer clothes, electronics, then clothes again inside a carry-on so the TSA agent can quickly see what's in there. This strategy also works better than the cram-everything-in-your-bag strategy once you unpack at your destination.
2. Wrap the cords:
A tangle of cords could look like something potentially harmful if it's viewed a certain way, which could mean a more thorough and time-consuming bag check. 3. Keep big items in your carry-on:

Of course, you could just get a TSA-friendly bag for your laptop, which will glide right through the checkpoint without a problem. TSA-approved bags provide a clear and unobstructed view of the device inside through the X-ray scanner. These can be one of three styles: sleeve style, butterfly style, or trifold style. They won't have pockets, metal zippers, snaps, logos, emblems, or other branding that can obstruct the view of the laptop in the X-ray scanner, and they can only house the laptop. Other items like chargers, cables, and accessories should be packed separately.

The perils of sitting all day aren't good. Researchers have shown that remaining stationary for extended periods of time (like at your 9-to-5 desk job) can be detrimental to your health. While exercise is a big part of offsetting the harmful effects of sitting, it was unclear how many gym sessions were needed to help - until now.
A new study, published in The Lancet, shows the ideal formula for counteracting the negative effects of a sedentary job. Instead of a fixed number of hours spent exercising, the ratio depends on how much you sit: people who work a typical eight-hour day should spend at least one hour each day moving; if you sit six hours a day, you should spend half an hour exercising. The research also indicated that the exercise doesn't have to be all at once - or rigorous. It can be spread throughout the day and be as simple as walking.
The team behind the study analyzed data from a pool of a million adults over the age of 45 in Western Europe, the United States, and Australia. Using previous data, the researchers examined data from 16 published studies and used it to determine how much exercise is required to compensate for sitting. Their recommended daily exercise goal is higher than previous advice but not necessarily less attainable, given it can be completed throughout the day.
Fitting in an hour of exercise a day sounds especially daunting if you have a desk job, but there are plenty of workouts you can complete before and after work. Even if it means taking a 10-minute walk during lunch, your body will thank you in the long run.
Gilmore Girls: Did We Just Get a Hint About Who Rory Ends Up With?
One of the things we're looking forward to seeing resolved the most when the Gilmore Girls reboot hits Netflix this Fall is who Rory ends up with. Call us simple, but the romantic resolution is something we're craving since the series ended with so many loose ends. Compound that with the fact that all of the actors who played one of Rory's boyfriends (Matt Czuchry, Jared Padalecki, and Milo Ventimiglia) are in the cast for the revival, so it was obviously one of the issues that came up when the cast of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life came to the Summer TCA.
Obviously, Alexis Bledel, who plays Rory, couldn't come out and say what happens, but she did address Rory's love life a little. She addressed the tight-lipped nature of the reboot, saying, "We're not supposed to discuss where we pick up with her romantically, but all of her ex-boyfriends make an appearance in these chapters in one way or another." One way or another? Interesting. Most promisingly, she confirmed, "I think people's questions are answered by the end of it."

Gilmore Girls: Did We Just Get a Hint About Who Rory Ends Up With?
One of the things we're looking forward to seeing resolved the most when the Gilmore Girls reboot hits Netflix this Fall is who Rory ends up with. Call us simple, but the romantic resolution is something we're craving since the series ended with so many loose ends. Compound that with the fact that all of the actors who played one of Rory's boyfriends (Matt Czuchry, Jared Padalecki, and Milo Ventimiglia) are in the cast for the revival, so it was obviously one of the issues that came up when the cast of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life came to the Summer TCA.
Obviously, Alexis Bledel, who plays Rory, couldn't come out and say what happens, but she did address Rory's love life a little. She addressed the tight-lipped nature of the reboot, saying, "We're not supposed to discuss where we pick up with her romantically, but all of her ex-boyfriends make an appearance in these chapters in one way or another." One way or another? Interesting. Most promisingly, she confirmed, "I think people's questions are answered by the end of it."

The 5 Biggest Mistakes You Make When Getting in Shape For Summer
It's the end of July and the sun is out! It's natural to start thinking about a few weeks by the beach, hot weather, and, invariably, the thought of being "ready" for Summer creeps in, whatever that means. As a trainer, I believe that we should feel comfortable and happy all the time - body positivity is very important! But I also know that being healthy and feeling good is important too. And, yes, some women want to look good by losing weight or toning up - and that's OK! The problem lies in equating looking good with being slim. This constant pursuit of trying to look our best can be stressful, so instead, focus on feeling your best by eliminating these quick fixes from your life and focusing on sustainable changes.
1. Crash dieting
You know the drill. That blissful upcoming beach vacation, where cocktails and sunshine are imminent. You panic and decide to starve yourself in the hope that you'll lose weight quickly, but, well, you can guess the results: you lose couple of pounds, feel awful, and just want to stuff your face full of doughnuts. Crash diets never work.
The emergency fix? Replace refined carbs with leafy greens. After a week of replacing carbs with healthy veggies, not only you will feel lighter and less hungry between meals, but your cravings for sweets and snacks will diminish.
2. Body sculpting
It's not unheard of to want toned thighs, slimmer arms, and a flat belly, but trying to spot tone is a huge waster of time. When done alone, isolated exercises rarely trigger the results you want.
The emergency fix? Stick with big, compound exercises that work the whole body like squats, push-ups, or deadlifts. Focus on intensity rather and make these part of a well-rounded fitness routine. Your muscles will respond by becoming stronger and more toned, and you'll also feel more energized.
