How to Get Your Pet Microchipped
Today is Check the Chip Day, which means if you haven't already microchipped your pet, now is a great time to do so. The American Kennel Club's pet-recovery service, AKC Reunite, has helped bring more than 475,000 pets home because of their microchips, and the best tip it can offer to pet owners is to always be sure your information linked to your pet's chip is up to date. According to research, only 58 percent of pets with chips have the correct information saved in the system.
Microchipping your pet is an easy two-step process, described below by AKC Reunite.
- Step 1: Have the microchip, which is about the size of a grain of rice, implanted by your vet between the cat's or dog's shoulder blades. The implantation is quick and no more painful than having a shot.
- Step 2: Enroll your pet's microchip with a recovery service. This will link the ID number on your pet's chip to your contact information. If you don't enroll the chip, having it scanned if your pet gets lost will render it useless. The chip has to be linked to contact information in order to reunited you and your pet!
It really is that easy to help prevent your pet from getting lost forever. Just make sure to always keep your information up to date on your pet's account if you move or change your phone number.

4 Rumors About the New iPad Pro That Will Make You Super Excited
Move over, iPhone: hints of what the new iPad Pro models hold are here and it sounds promising already. The rumors include a new iPad Pro size and display, and even a lower price.
The news comes from Ming-Chi Kuo, a respectable and reputable Apple source. Kuo released a new report that MacRumors sums up. The details are below.
- More iPads: The report states the three new iPads will be released in 2017, from 9.7-inch to 12.9-inch models.
- A new iPad Pro size: In addition to keeping the 12.9-inch and 9.7-inch iPad Pro, Apple intends on announcing a 10.5-inch iPad Pro.
- Reduction in price: The 9.7-inch iPad Pro will reportedly come as a "low cost" model.
- A new display: Kuo's last speculation surrounds a new "revolutionary iPad model" coming in 2018. The new iPad will include a "flexible AMOLED panel."
For now, it looks like we'll need to wait till at least next year to see what other leaks start circulating, but this is a pretty good start on the iPad Pro.

Find Out How Laurie Hernandez Did on the Balance Beam Final at the Olympics
After helping USA's Final Five win gold during the Team Finals in Rio, 16-year-old gymnast Laurie Hernandez just achieved her own medal success on the balance beam at the 2016 Olympics. The powerhouse athlete, who is affectionately known as "Baby Shakira" in the gymnastics community, scored a whopping 15.333 during the intense event final on Aug. 15.
Laurie's dizzying routine, featuring difficult tumbling passes and a gorgeous dismount on a 4-inch surface area, earned her a coveted silver medal spot on the podium beside her fierce competitors, including teammate Simone Biles, who, after a fall, took home bronze, and the Netherland's Sanne Wevers, who won gold. Congratulations, Laurie! While this event marks the last time we'll be seeing Laurie take center stage in Rio, fingers crossed she'll be back for more at 2020's Games in Tokyo, especially now that she has officially gone pro.

Instead of subjecting yourself to the whines and cries of your little one, make sure you're always prepared with a bag of tricks - or a "busy bag," if you will - stuffed with games and activities to keep even the toddler with the shortest attention span busy for a while*.
Read through to see some of our favorite activities and games for toddlers on the go.
- Sticker books
- Play-Doh
- Board books (they can handle anything a toddler throws at them)
- Mini Etch A Sketch
- Boogie Board LCD drawing pad

- Letter popsicle sticks: Write out capital and lowercase letters on popsicle sticks (one per stick) and have your child match the capital letter stick to the lowercase stick.
- Wipe box guessing game: Put a bunch of small objects in an empty wipes container and tell your toddler to put their hand in and guess what they're about to pull out.
- Finger paint in a bag: Put paint in one Ziploc, then place zip side down into another Ziploc to allow them to "paint on the table."
- Color matching: Grab a bunch of paint chips from the hardware store in different shades of the same colors and have your child stack up the cards that are variants of the same color.
- Easter egg letters: Write a lowercase letter on the bottom of a plastic egg and a capital on the top, then give them to your child in halves so they can match the lowercase to the capital.
- Lego stacking: Pack up a bunch of big Lego blocks into a baggie to be stacked by color or to stack to certain numbers.
- Snacks (because when all else fails, food reigns supreme)
*We really hope this works out for you, but we know that toddlers are the most unpredictable. If all else fails, including the snacks, there's always the iPad?

Apple Might Finally Give Us What We've Been Waiting For: a Waterproof iPhone
As rumors continue to circulate about Apple's iPhone 7, which has an expected release date of Sept. 7, one leak is emerging that might actually come true. The blog Patently Apple recently discovered that Apple acquired a patent for color-correcting technology in underwater photos - meaning the phone itself would have to be waterproof . . . right?
This news seems long overdue as many smartphones, like Samsung's Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, are already waterproof or, at the very least, splash-resistant. It also makes sense considering another rumor stating the iPhone 7 won't have a headphone jack - removing the possibility for water damage to occur.
According to Patently Apple, the patent was originally filed in late 2013, but was just published this August. The blog states that Apple's invention edits photos taken under water to remove "undesirable tints from objects in the scene." So not only will we soon be able to (hopefully) hop in the pool with our phones, but our subsequent photos will come out looking Instagram-ready.
It is worth noting, however, that not all of Apple's patents end up actually coming to fruition. For example, they filed a patent for a curved, wrap-around display screen in 2011 that still hasn't been introduced. So unfortunately, this rumor can neither be confirmed nor debunked until the phone is released.

The 1 Thing I Learned in Italy That Changed the Way I Cook
I thought I knew how to cook Italian food . . . until I went to Italy. I got the amazing opportunity to travel to Tuscany to stay at Casa Buitoni, home of Buitoni, the fresh-pasta brand you've likely seen in the refrigerated section at the grocery store. I was in good company with chefs who develop authentic recipes for the nearly 200-year-old brand (it was founded by the Buitoni family in 1827), so I think they know a thing or two about Italian food. After a week of making pasta from scratch, visiting wineries and restaurants among the rolling hills of Tuscany, and eating too many incredible meals to count made by chefs born and raised in Italy, I learned an invaluable lesson that really stuck with me and will change the way I cook for myself from now on.
Simplicity is key, and less is more.
The mentality that surrounds food in Italy is unlike everything typical about food in the US. Italians eat slowly. They savor every single bite and every single moment at the table - "family style" means more than just passing around a plate of food for everyone to try. A young woman who grew up in Italy told me her family never served a meal without setting the table, complete with a white tablecloth. And yes, of course I realize that setting up a gorgeous tablescape with a movie-worthy view is not something most people have the privilege of re-creating at home, but what we can (and should) copy is the overall idea. Eating is a time to unplug from the rest of the world and to connect with the food and the people right in front of you.
And most importantly, authentic Italian cooks let the ingredients shine. If you start with the best quality ingredients you can find, you only need a few to make an amazing dish. I'll be the first to admit that using restraint in the kitchen is not my strong suit. My favorite pasta recipes often involve a long list of ingredients (spaghetti with garlic, white wine, thyme, lemon, and more, for example), but now I realize that there is such a thing as too much, and you don't always need 20 ingredients to make the most flavorful dish.
The best thing you can do is start out with really, really good olive oil. Spend the money on that fancier bottle - it's 100 percent worth it. Because, as I learned, olive oil is just as much an ingredient as pasta or parmesan cheese. When you simply use olive oil to sauté vegetables or throw in a tablespoon to prevent your pasta from sticking before adding other ingredients, the pure flavor gets lost in translation. The rich flavor of homemade olive oil is unlike anything else, and it's truly at the heart of Italian cooking - let it be the star.
Use good salt and fresh garlic. Invest in the freshest seasonal vegetables when you can. And, most importantly, take the time to savor every single bite. I thought this pizza topped with merely tomato sauce and a thin slice of roasted garlic would be boring, but I could not have been more wrong. After one bite, I realized it embodied everything Italian food is about: freshness, simplicity, and flavor. And that's what I'm going to aim to re-create in my own home.
Let These Pictures of Gina Rodriguez Convince You to Show Off Your Abs in a Crop Top

How Long Can an Opened Bottle of Wine Really Last?
How long can an opened bottle of wine really last? To answer this question, I spoke with wine educator Collin Lilly during a recent trip to Andretti Winery in Napa Valley, CA. Although he claims that his response is completely subjective, here are his thoughts on a wine's life span. "I believe that when you are grabbing a bottle of wine, you're making a personal investment and you need to drink that entire bottle that night," said Collin. "Because one thing that is happening with wine when you've consumed half the bottle or more, there's now a gap of air that's filling the bottle. Over time, when it's exposed to too much air, the phenols (or components that affect the wine's taste) will dissipate and become negative flavors."
So should you let a bottle sit out for a day or two? "No, it won't be worth your money. The wine is continuing to age at an accelerated rate." When you open a bottle, it's best to drink it within four to six hours of opening without compromising taste. The wine will change slightly during that time of oxidation but in a positive way. After 24 hours, he doesn't believe it to be good. Although leaving a bottle out for a couple days won't cause it to spoil and make you sick, you will taste a perceivable difference even after just a day. The flavors will die out and eventually turn into an unpleasant taste after two to three days. But again, what you find acceptable will differ from what others can handle.
To slow down the aging process, be sure to recork the bottle and refrigerate it. The rate of oxidation will also depend on the type and age of wine. But to avoid any disappointment, drink it within the same day if possible. And when it comes to cooking with wine, the same rules apply, according to Collin.
The Obama Girls Have Grown Up Before Our Eyes
Barack and Michelle Obama's little girls, Malia and Sasha, aren't so little anymore! As the nation's most public mom, Michelle has always tried to connect with other Americans raising their kids. Malia was just 10 when Barack was elected, and Sasha was 7. "My life is no different from any other working mother. Mine is just more public," First Lady Michelle Obama told us back in 2012, adding, "Some of us have more resources than others, but the pain, the challenges, the fears of motherhood, the frustrations of being a woman, the hopes and dreams that you have for your daughters, and all our daughters are the same." Let's take a look at the Obama girls' family photo album, and then check out more celebrity kids who grew up before our eyes.
What's Up With Kids Rolling Around in Their Beds All Night?
My husband and I like to joke that we gave birth to a grandfather clock. From the day my firstborn was old enough to sleep without a swaddle, he was rolling around the crib in a clockwise fashion. Seven years later, he's still doing it. We've tried twin beds, full beds, and even our own queen bed. It doesn't matter the size, he'll find a way to spin around in his sleep. We've tried tucking him in tightly with his covers, but that doesn't work. And don't even try to lay down with him when he's sick - it's become a dangerous proposition, one that'll likely leave you looking like you were on the losing end of a street fight.
We thought he was an abnormality, until our second son was born, and he started doing the same thing. And when I started asking friends if they'd ever heard of such a thing, I began hearing more stories - including kids that actually do flips in their beds in the middle of the night. There must be an age when they start sleeping more soundly - and in the right direction! - because you don't see many adults doing the clockwise spin, but when?
If you had a restless sleeper, was there a certain age when it stopped? And did you do anything to make it stop?

You Will Cry Laughing at This Mom's Instructions to Her Husband For Watching the Kids
"I'm writing this to you out of love, not fear," starts Meghan Maza Oeser in a letter to her husband that outlines instructions for watching their kids while she's away. "I wanted to go over a few things with you before you embark on this weekend alone . . . with the others." In the letter, Oeser details everything from meal preferences to which sippy cup is acceptable for bedtime, and the way she describes her children's antics will make you fall off your chair laughing.
"Upon arriving home after work, things won't seem so bad. The others will hug, jump, and for the most part, be pretty excited to see you. This will be short lived . . . I promise." Oeser continues by disguising horror stories as directives that will help her husband "survive" the weekend:
Dinner will suck. Bailey will want pizza, while Harper will ask for hot dogs. Quinn will cry when you say the word hot dog, and will insist on mac n cheese (not the orange kind or the white kind, but the purple kind). We'll be fresh out of the purple kind, so she'll ask for toast. You'll already have started making mac n cheese for Penny, but since she heard Quinn ask for toast, she'll also want that toast.
You'll want to sit down and relax after dinner, but I'm warning you against this. It will get quiet...REAL quiet. This is when you'll realize that the threenager has fallen asleep somewhere. Do NOT let the threenager fall asleep. You're basically f*cked if this happens.
Pajamas. F*CK pajamas. Don't even ATTEMPT anything but a nightgown for Penny. And if you cannot find a nightgown for Penny, keep f*cking looking. She'll ask for her Minnie Mouse nightgown, but once you put it on, she'll scream in agony because the sleeves are CLEARLY ripping her f*cking arms off. Just find her Elsa one. Chances are, it's dirty as sh*t, but so what . . .
Quinn, Harper, and Bailey will go down seamlessly. Just wait. As they lie in their beds, they'll then realize that their tiny mouths are on God damned fire . . . They will come down one by one every god damned five minutes for water. Don't let ANYONE use Quinn's pink Elsa cup. If she sees this, she will lose her holy sh*t.
Breakfast. . . . Penny might want cereal, or she'll go for toast. Whatever you do LET HER PICK HER SPOON. Chances are, Quinn will have the ULTIMATE spoon, and Penny will convince you that you've left her with the sh*ttiest spoon in the bunch. Sometimes I'll give her a fork, and then flip her off.
Oeser ends her hilarious note with a few more good lucks, a subtle jab at him, and a simple, yet incredible, "Kisses." Read the whole incredible thing above.

The Top iPhone 7 Rumors, Including 1 About Its Release
It feels like the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus just hit shelves, but the tech world is already abuzz with rumors about Apple's next installment, the iPhone 7. Much of the speculation is taking place on the Chinese version of Twitter, Weibo.
However, despite all the rumors flying on Weibo and other sites, the Wall Street Journal reports that the iPhone 7 will not have any significant changes, other than removing the headphone jack. The next iteration of iPhone's will also keep the 4.7 inch and 5.5 inch display size. The report further suggests that "bigger design changes" will happen in 2017, which is the 10th anniversary of the iPhone. Those changes might include an upgrade to an OLED screen.
Ahead are the other rumors that you can expect when the iPhone 7 comes around.
- A September release date: Evan Blass, a reliable source on Apple leaks, tweeted that the iPhone 7 will arrive on September 16. We can expect this one to be true, since most launch events occur around that time.
- A better camera: A new leak that originally surfaced on Weibo show a prototype iPhone 7, reports 9to5Mac. The photo shows a larger camera lens that will most likely be able to take better pictures with poor lighting. The raised camera lens is still on the phone.
- An iPhone without a headphone connection: Several sources are speculating that the next iPhone will no longer come with a headphone jack. Instead, people can either use earphones that can connect in the Lightning port or use wireless Bluetooth ones. Some people are extremely upset about this change and over 200,000 have even signed a petition against it.
- Bigger battery: The new iPhone will comes with a battery that's bigger than current ones - a 3100 mAh battery to be exact, according to Chinese website MyDrivers . This doesn't necessarily mean longer battery life, but we can only hope.
- A 256GB storage option: Current iPhone models come in 16GB, 64GB, and 128GB storage options, so the 256GB model would be a nice option if the leak reported by MyDrivers is true.
- A completely waterproof phone: Mac Otakara also claims that early iPhone 7 prototypes are both dustproof and waterproof, reports Mashable.
- Liquid Metal body: Because Apple owns patents with Liquid Metal Inc., many rumors suggest that the next iPhone will skip plastic and aluminum bodies in favor of a new material.
- A completely flat LCD screen: Forget curved edges - Apple will reportedly stick to a classic, flat-screened iPhone model.
- A barely there home button: The home button you know and click, might go away for a more "touch-sensitive" one, according to 9to5Mac. The rumors, coming from Chinese site, Storm, state that the new phone would use haptic feedback (the same technology behind 3D Touch), to replace the home button.
- Smart connector: The popular feature on the iPad Pro might be coming to the larger iPhone 7 model. A new leak from OnLeaks shows the smart connector, which lets you transfer data and power between the keyboard and iPad Pro. If it's on the new iPhone, it opens up the possibilities of new accessories to use with it.
- A new color: A new rumor reported by 9to5Mac via Mac Otakara, speculates that the space grey color will no longer be available and instead, a deep blue color will replace it. A designer then mocked up what the phone could look like in such a color. However, Italian blog Macitynet posted supposed photos of the new devices and no blue color was shown. Another rumor from TechTastic shows off another new color: a space black iPhone. This might be one rumor we won't get any confirmation until the phones are out.
- Wireless charging: Start saying goodbye to chargers that bend and break. According to a report by Bloomberg, Apple might introduce wireless charging for its smartphones in 2017. A charger would still exist but the iPhone could charge over the air. No word yet on how far you can be from a charger to do this.
The one rumor that doesn't appear true is the dual camera that Apple Insider once suggested would appear on the iPhone 7 Plus. According to a new report from Cult of Mac, the technology isn't ready yet, so it won't appear on the new phone.
That's ok, considering the rest of these changes would be pretty drastic. What do you hope Apple will change about the iPhone 7?

27 Pokémon Toys For Your Kids That Won't Drain Your Family Data Plan
Since early July many of us have watched as our children walk around consumed by Pokémon Go - catching Pikachus in the park and Eevees in the living room - and the most draining part of it is, well, the data-draining. If you're a mom with an unlimited family data plan, you are truly blessed, but for the rest of us, we're looking for any way to get our kids to cut down on the excessive data usages caused by needing to catch that last Weedle on the drive over to the grocery store (Niantic, can we get some game features our kids can use over WiFi at home?!).
If you've been feeling the data struggle but your kid is totally obsessed with the game, check out these 27 toys that will satisfy their Pokémon cravings and inspire them to put the cell phone down (if only for a little while . . . ).

Just Looking at Angelina Jolie's Shopping Outfit Will Make You Feel Like a Movie Star
We can't say we'd think to wear Angelina Jolie's latest look on a shopping trip. It's not that we don't own a pleated white dress, neutral ballet flats, and a crossbody bag - these are all basic staples, after all. But the actress and director makes her pieces look so chic, especially when swathed in an oversize shawl.
"You know, it does get awfully cold in the mall," we thought to ourselves as soon as we saw her. If there ever was a pristine method for layering in the Summer, this would be it. Read on to see how Angelina styled her asymmetrical silhouette with Gianvito Rossi shoes, a taupe Saint Laurent accordion bag, dark aviators, and silver jewels, then shop her seasonally appropriate separates and wear them just as glamorously.

"We will always love each other and have a deep respect for one another, as we have each grown to be better people because of our time together. Our schedules made seeing each other difficult, and we decided that for now this would be best."

She told the Today show, "I started watching him when I was 6 years old, when I started getting into the sport, and to be on the team with him has been such an honor." People Across the Globe Are All Sending a Mom the Exact Same Shirt From Target
Behold, the power of Facebook: Deborah Skouson, the mother of a girl with autism, updated her status last week with a call to action to her 500-odd Facebook friends.
Her daughter, Cami, has become attached to one very specific shirt, and it's now the only top she'll wear. Her mom is desperate to find another one, but there's one problem: it's discontinued.
"For the past 4 to 5 years, she has been fixated on THIS shirt," Skouson wrote on her Facebook page. "She got her first one in kindergarten five years ago, and we have found four more since then, mostly on eBay. Her current one is almost unwearable, and eBay has gone dry. "
The shirt, from Target's popular Circo brand, was sold in 2011-2012 and is pink with a flower print.
In her plea, Skouson offered to pay for the shirt and shipping for anyone who has the exact shirt . . . in any size. "It has to be this exact shirt," she added. "We've tried similar shirts, and they don't cut it with Cami!"
Nearly a week after her initial post, her story - along with a photo of Cami happily wearing the shirt - was shared on popular local news anchor Frank Somerville's Facebook page. In no time, Skouson's request went viral, with more than 22,000 shares combined. And miraculously, she's received 80 identical shirts so far – many internationally – with more on the way.
It seems Cami won't have to part with her beloved pink flower shirt just yet.

Queen Máxima and King Willem-Alexander attended the men's swimming 4x100m medley relay final in Rio de Janeiro on Aug. 13, and even with the Netherlands out of the race, the royals could barely control their emotions during the event.
Well-known for their expressive faces - Queen Máxima can't help but smile big every time she sees her adoring fans - the Dutch royals didn't disappoint while watching Team USA take the gold medal at the Games. They were bored while waiting for the festivities to kickstart, nervous during the 3 minutes it took for the team to swim to a win, and then happy to have been there to witness their olympic record. Scroll ahead to see all the hilarious and relatable faces the cameras captured the queen and king making.
Cancel Halloween - This Adorable Baby Groot Costume Already Has It Beat
For fans of the latest Guardians of the Galaxy film adaptation, Groot quickly became a beloved character as the lethal but kind tree-like humanoid, hilariously voiced by Vin Deisel. The teeny baby Groot shown at the end of the film might just have an even bigger following.
At Boston Comic-Con, which began on Aug. 12, one couple shared a photo of their son dressed up as baby Groot and it has since won over the internet. On Imgur, the boy's mother wrote, "It's my husband's booth, and I can assure you no comics were injured in the process. Since he can't stand, we supported most of the weight."
The incredible costume even caught the attention of Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn, who shared the photo on his Instagram with a caption jokingly referring to it as the first still from the film's sequel.

The First Look at E!'s Rob & Chyna Shows the Many Sides of Their Roller Coaster Relationship
The first look at Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna's upcoming docu-series on E!, Rob & Chyna, is here, and to call it dramatic would be an understatement. As cute shots of the engaged couple and parents-to-be flood the screen, the romance is quickly interrupted with another clip of Chyna screaming into her phone, "Are you still texting b*tches, yes or no?" Aside from showcasing details about their romance, including Chyna's shaky introduction into the Kardashian family, the six-episode series will also focus on her pregnancy. If this sneak peek is only a small taste of what's to come when the show premieres on Sept. 11, it may even surpass Keeping Up With the Kardashians.
Apple's Announced Its Annual Back-to-School Deal
School isn't even fully done for many high school seniors and college students, but Apple's already released its back-to-school deal for the year. Buy any eligible Mac, iPad, or iPhone product, and you'll get a free specific pair of Beats by Dre headphones.
The promotion, which starts June 2 and ends on Sept. 5, focuses on very specific products. If you buy an iMac, MacBook, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, or Mac Pro, you'll get a pair of Beats Solo2 wireless headphones. If you buy an iPad Pro, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6S, or iPhone 6S Plus, you'll receive a pair of Powerbeats2 wireless headphones. If you choose to buy an iPhone or iPad and want the Beats Solo2 wireless headphones, Apple will give you a credit of $199.95. You'll then have to pay the remaining balance of $100 to fully purchase the headphones.
As always, you need to buy the eligible products via the Apple Education store online, at Apple, or at authorized campus stores. Also, it's not just students who can qualify for the discount - educators and parents of students can also participate.
Though it's not the first year Apple's included wireless headphones in its back-to-school promotion, it might be another sign that the next iPhone will come without a headphone jack.

Fast 8 is almost finished filming, which means we are that much closer to seeing the whole gang take to the streets once more. On Friday, the movie's official Facebook page thanked the "Fast Family" by sharing a group shot of the whole cast on set. Aside from giving a shout-out to the film's amazing team, they also payed tribute to their late costar, Paul Walker, who tragically died in a car accident in November 2013 while Furious 7 was still in production. "Thank you Vin, who has been at the wheel since this journey began, first as star and then as producer," the caption reads. "And thanks to all of the cast of the eighth Fast. Michelle, who's also been with us from the start...And our brother who continues to inspire us all, Paul." This INSANE Optical Illusion Will Make You Question Everything You Ever Thought You Knew
So first of all, an "Illusion of the Year" contest exists. Let that sink in for second. Cool. Now this year, a finalist created an "ambiguous cylinder illusion" and after watching this mind-bending video, you will 100 percent be either thinking (or perhaps screaming) "WTF". The optical illusion uses a mirror to turn circles into squares and squares into circles and I promise you - you will NOT be able to figure out how the hell the whole thing works.
If you give up and simply MUST know the hows and whys of the the cylinder illusion, you're in luck. Thanks to a wise YouTube user and some 3D printing, we can (sort of/kind of) understand how it works now. Check out the original video, then follow up with the explanation video, and prepare to be as intrigued by the logistics of the illusion as much as with the illusion itself.
