23 Incredible Costumes From the First Star Wars Day on a Disney Cruise

Cosplay has no limits - not even geography or water can stop any fan from dressing up as their favorite character. This was definitely the case at the first Star Wars Day at Sea aboard a Disney cruise ship.

Sure, you might think that lugging around all the materials required for an epic cosplay might deter cruise ship guests from doing it. But you're wrong. Guests on the Disney Fantasy ship brought makeup, lightsabers, Jedi robes, and everything imaginable to complete their dressing-up dreams at sea. Regular characters like Luke Skywalker made an appearance, but new ones from Star Wars: The Force Awakens also graced the ship - including so many Reys!

Check out some of our favorite cosplays to plan your Halloween costume this year and don't forget to see just what you can expect from a Star Wars Day at Sea.

Dr. Harvey Karp Reveals the "6th S" and Why Your Baby Will Never Actually Sleep Through the Night

The only thing more precious than a newborn is the slight amount of sleep that parents get in between feedings, diaper changes, and fussy tears. Dr. Harvey Karp, author of the popular series of parenting guides, The Happiest Baby, is more than knowledgeable on the topic and has become a hero to many moms and dads trying to figure out how to get their little ones to sleep.

In his beloved book, The Happiest Baby on the Block ($15), Karp gives exhausted parents specific techniques, which he refers to as the "5 S's," to help sooth their fussy babies into a peaceful rest. Although many parents have memorized the swaddle, side or stomach position, sush, swing and suck, there's actually another "S" that many don't think about but Karp still recommends.

"The '5 Ss' are just five easy-to-remember ways to imitate the womb, but there are other Ss that are very calming to babies too," Karp explained to POPSUGAR when he stopped by for a live Facebook chat. "One that I love a lot is skin-to-skin contact. Holding your baby skin-to-skin is the most beautiful thing and not just for your baby but for yourself."

Although this technique is popular - and also recommended right after birth - Karp explains that it isn't just for moms to partake in immediately after their baby is born. According to Karp, both moms and dads should consider soothing their babies with this intimate contact to help lull them into a sound sleep. "It really is something you will remember for the rest of your life," Karp said.

However, it's just as important for people to understand how a baby sleeps before setting themselves up with the false expectations that eventually it's possible to get their baby to snooze without interruption throughout the entire night. "When people say sleeping through the night, they think it's a baby going at least six hours nonstop," Karp said. "It turns out that babies never sleep through the night and it turns out that adults never sleep through the night either."

According to Karp, we all wake up in little bits every few hours but we don't remember it unless something distracting is going on. For kids, white noise and gentle rocking helps keep distractions at bay.

"So it turns out that babies wake up too all throughout the night but if the room is totally quiet, totally still, and they are just lying there, then it's boring and they are going to wake up all of the way and they want you to come in and help them," Karp said. "But if they have sound and they are snugly wrapped up or even if they have motion, that will help keep the baby asleep better."

Instead of focusing on the concept of sleeping through the night, parents should prioritize understanding what sleep cues work best for their baby so when he or she does wake up, they very quickly go back to sleep.

How to Tell If You Have a "Just a Cold" or the Dreaded Flu

It's that time of year where we wash our hands like crazy to prevent getting a cold or the flu, but sometimes, the inevitable happens. Here's what you need to know to determine which illness you have, so you can treat it the right way, and start feeling better.

Note that not everyone will experience these symptoms:

Cold Flu (Influenza)
Fever Low-grade or no fever 100.4 degrees or higher
Chills Uncommon Common
Aches and Pains Mild Usual and often severe
Headache Mild Common
Nasal Congestion Common Common
Sore throat Common Common
Fatigue Mild Common
Cough Common Common, dry, persistent
Complications Ear infections, Sinus infections, Asthma flare-ups Ear infections, Asthma flare-ups, Pneumonia, Bronchitis, Heart problems
Illness Duration Symptoms come on gradually and last 7 to 10 days Symptoms come on suddenly and last 1 to 2 weeks
Treatment Rest, drink fluids, avoid contact with others. Over-the-counter medications can alleviate symptoms but won't cure your cold. Rest, drink fluids, avoid contact with others. Taking antiviral drugs within 48 after first symptoms can reduce the duration of the illness.

Basically flu symptoms are more severe than cold symptoms. They come on suddenly and leave you feeling much worse and unable to do anything but sleep. Colds are much more common than the flu, and getting a flu shot can cut down your chances even more.

Whether you have a cold or the flu, if symptoms last longer than the expected duration, or you're at risk for complications, make an appointment with your doctor.

How to Avoid the Cloning Scam That's Popping Up on Facebook

Scams on the internet are nothing new, but they do become more sophisticated every now and then. One rising scam on Facebook uses your profile photo and identity to steal money from your friends and family.

The scam works like this: Someone steals your profile picture, name, and anything else on your profile that describes who you are. They use that information to create an entirely new profile and send friend requests to anyone who was previously your friend. Once your friends accept, the scammer will then chat them up on Messenger and ask for money. An example of what it can look like (but not always) is below.

Of course, you can take several steps to stop this from happening. First, you can review your privacy settings on Facebook using the website's "privacy checkup" feature. You can also start to think more carefully about what you post on Facebook (and social media) to prevent any of this from happening.

The lesson here: always be careful of what you post and who you agree to send money to on the internet.

The Ancient Practice That Can Ease Your Dog's Nerves

After spending decades researching music and frequencies in order to learn how they affect people, Wholetones creator Michael Tyrrell came to a surprising conclusion: music also has a huge impact on our pets. It can ease separation anxiety, alleviate nervous behavior, and lessen incessant barking, according to Tyrrell. But there's a winning formula for the music in order for it to really work for us and our pets, and the secret lies in the frequency.

"Animals are super sensitive to those frequencies and can pick them up even at a low volume."

In researching music, Tyrrell knew right off the bat that classical music, like that from Mozart, Bach, and Beethoven, had a particularly soothing affect on animals. But in creating music that incorporated similar frequencies, he was able to come up with a whole new concept of music that is like elevated elevator music. Seriously, the music sounds like something you'd hear in an elevator, but it won't bore you; rather, it settles you. The Wholetones collection of music relies on different frequencies to evoke different positive feelings and ease any negativity.

"Three-hundred-ninety-six seems to work like a charm for every dog so far that their owners have played that during stressful holidays," Tyrrell said when I asked him to describe his creation process.

But what even is a frequency? All music is created using a frequency, and 1 hertz means there is one sound wave cycle per second. Tyrrell's perfect music for easing anxious dogs is composed in 396 Hz, or 396 sound wave cycles per second. These things won't mean much to the average person - you just know you like how the music sounds. But what you may not know is that you're feeling the frequency whether you're aware of it or not. This is why Wholetones can be especially beneficial for dogs, because they feel frequencies slightly different from how humans do. It's like how humans can't hear dog whistles. It's because the sound is happening at a frequency that humans can't hear but dogs can.

With all that in mind, I wondered if my very old dog, Winnie, who is nearly deaf, would be able to feel the frequency of Wholetones. Tyrrell insisted that she would.

"Animals are super sensitive to those frequencies and can pick them up even at a low volume," he said. And when I told him that Winnie is an incessant barker, he suggested putting the music on for her to see if she could feel the soothing frequencies. We're still in the testing process, but I can definitely tell that she responds to it, even though she probably can't actually hear it.

Next time your pet is in a stressful situation - namely holidays like Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas -- consider putting on Wholetones to see if the soothing frequencies calm him down. Tyrrell has samples of his work on YouTube or you can purchase the collection from his website. One interesting thing to note is that there are several Wholetones clips on YouTube, some of which are in larger playlists of "soothing" music. I put one of those playlists on at my desk one day and felt really productive with my work. This could have been my imagination, yes, but whatever the case, I felt good. However, as soon as the playlist turned to another "soothing" song that wasn't Wholetones, I could immediately tell that something was off - the musicality. That's what I consider to be the best part about the Wholetones music . . . the fact that it is actually music and not just sounds strung together because the frequencies are right. This is music you'll actually feel good about listening to - and so will your pet.

10 Things I've Learned After 10 Years of Marriage

This post was originally posted on Yanira Garza and written by Yanira Garza, who is a part of POPSUGAR Select Latina.

Today is my 10-year wedding anniversary. Damn. Time flew. It seems like only yesterday, I literally was watching him walk down the hallway, hoping he didn't catch me looking. He still asks if I see him as a piece of meat. (Yes. Yes, I do.)

We made it. Some said we wouldn't (haters), but we did. Not unscathed, but we did, because we wanted to. We have both grown so much in ten years, and while we are still not experts in marriage, we figured out a few things that helped us hang on this far. Here are ten things I've learned over the years.

1. Flirt

My husband, though he doesn't admit it, is flirtatious in nature. Not necessarily a sexual type of flirtation, but he does give off a very charming vibe. People tend to gravitate towards him, and I find it very attractive that people are attracted, even if it is just to his persona - I don't need him to get a big ol' head. At the same time, he's very aware of how flirtatious he can be when he tries, and luckily, still tries with me. When in a room full of 10s, make your spouse feel like an 11 from way across the room, and you're doing it right.

2. Fight Fairly

I would love to say we fought because we were passionate, but the truth is, sometimes we fought because we were jerks. We know exactly how to push each others buttons, so if it is ever pushed, it is simply because the person doing the pushing is being a jerk. Having disagreements is natural, but being respectful helps resolve them faster. Don't be a jerk to your spouse.

3. Making Up Is Important

My husband wouldn't apologize. Ever. Even when he was wrong, especially when he was wrong. Apologies were reserved simply to apologize for my misinterpretation. Enter: eye roll. But eventually, he learned to swallow his pride at times, because the words were important to me. I learned to realize that his actions after were more important. It took me 10 years to realize that, while he doesn't like to say he is sorry, he always shows me when he is. Honestly, that matters more.

4. Make Time

We have three kids, so date nights have turned into "date evenings," where we literally just watch Netflix on the couch with snacks. But we make it a point most nights to be together, even if that means all hands on deck to pick up toys, clean the kitchen, and put our spawns to bed. We give up stereotypical gender roles to make that time.

5. Talk Sh*t

We bicker.

"You make me sick, Eddie."

"Morning sickness, Yany. Quit your nagging woman." My husband calls me Yany. You can still call me Yanira though.

Let's just say it's another way we flirt. We act like 12 year olds with each other. Have fun with your partner.

6. Balance, But Challenge

I am a helpless romantic - a huge daydreamer, a risk-taker. My husband is grounded and well-informed but sticks to his comfort zones. When I float off the ground, he holds my ankles, and in exchange, I keep him on his toes.

7. Learn to Be Still

Sometimes your spouse needs to vent, cry, or fall apart. It is not your job to fix it but to be still and allow them to be vulnerable, without judgment, criticism, or unsolicited advice. Even if you do not understand why they are falling apart, just be still.

8. Walk in Their Shoes

My husband and I see things differently. It doesn't make our perspectives any less valid, just different. Agree to disagree and move on. Except, of course, in moments when your spouse is hurt. Even if you cannot understand why they're upset, it is not your job to tell them how they should feel. If they feel wronged, find a way to make it right instead of arguing.

9. Vent Wisely

Don't go running your mouth venting about your spouse to just about anybody. There are people cheering on your failures and blocking your success. It is OK to get advice from your girlfriends if you really need it, but just make sure they are truly friends. Those issues should be addressed to your spouse.

10. You Don't Have to Be in Love

Say what?! Yep. I said it. I love my husband, but I'm not always in love. Life happens, but you have to put in that work. It can be a wink from across a crowded room, a phone call in the middle of the day to share a hilarious story, a stolen kiss on a subway platform in Paris (yes, I'm that hopeless, and it has happened), and just like that you are in love again. It's easy when to fall in love when the other person makes it easy for you to fall in love. It's the same reason I try to look and be my best. I want him to fall in love too.

The best love stories aren't the ones with a happily ever after. They are the ones that continue, page after page, with stories of imperfect beings tangled up in messes that never end. Happy 10. Holy sh*t, we made it, babe.

One Airline Is Introducing "Quiet Zones" Where Children Are Not Welcome

Flying with children can be difficult for everyone involved - parents, fellow passengers, and flight attendants. One airline finds it to be such an inconvenience, however, that they will begin testing designated zones where children under 12 will not be allowed to sit.

IndiGo, a low-cost carrier in India, recently said it would introduce "Quiet Zones" where young children are not seated. On Twitter, IndiGo said the zone will take up rows one to four and 11 to 14 - a total of eight rows.

In a statement reported by an NBC news affiliate, IndiGo said the zones were created in the best interest of passengers traveling for work. The statement read, "These zones have been created for business travelers who prefer to use the quiet time to do their work."

The announcement has been met with mixed feedback on Twitter, however, IndiGo will continue on with their unprecedented proposal.

What 1 Woman Wishes She'd Known Before Trying to Lose Weight - Learn From Her Mistakes

I was no stranger to the freshman 15 in college - in fact, I experienced something closer to the freshman 30. It wasn't until I saw a photo of myself heading into my sophomore year that I realized I was carrying quite a few extra pounds and that it was time to do something about it. It took me a very long time to lose the weight (we're talking not until after graduation), all because I thought I knew what I was doing. Boy, was I wrong. Here are four things I wish I'd known at the start of my weight-loss journey.

Get That Spoon Out of the Jar!

While peanut butter is full of heart-healthy fats, it's not void of calories - one tablespoon contains 105. I found myself spooning it straight out of the jar, wondering why my jeans weren't any looser. This is important to remember with all healthy foods: just because they aren't considered junky doesn't mean you can eat as much as you want. Be aware of portion sizes when it comes to whole grains, nuts, seeds, and health-food-store snacks.

No Meat, No Dairy

My two roommates in college were tall, skinny, and vegan, so I thought eating a plant-based diet was the key to dropping pounds. I may have ditched animal products, but I ended up eating tons of pasta, bread, french fries, dairy-free ice cream, and vegan chocolate cupcakes instead. Had I focused on fresh fruits, veggies, legumes, and whole grains, a vegan diet might have helped me reach my weight-loss goal, but my junk-food vegan diet actually caused me to gain weight.

How About a Walk?

Walking is definitely a better workout than just sitting on the couch, so I thought strolling through the mall and walking to class would do the trick. But walking isn't a major calorie burner like running. When it comes to losing weight, you need to burn or cut out 3,500 calories a week to lose a pound. A 30-minute walk only burns around 122 calories, which is well under the 500 it takes to affect a weekly weigh-in. If you want to lose weight, you'll need to kick up the intensity and the length of your workouts.

Time to Dig In

After hitting a Step class with my college roommate, we'd hit the dining hall and fuel up. We worked out, so we deserved it, right? Little did I know I was undoing all the good I had done and actually eating way more than I had burned, which was making the scale numbers go even higher. If you need a little workout reward, don't do it with food. Download some new songs on iTunes, pick up a fitness mag, or buy yourself a new top to motivate you to get to the gym.

The Self-Installing Car Seat of Your Dreams Is Now Real

Back in 2013, after a study revealed that four out of five car seats are installed incorrectly, one company announced a breakthrough invention – a self-installing car seat that guaranteed a safe, correct connection every time. It was just a prototype, but now, nearly three years later, that concept is finally becoming a reality for parents everywhere.

"When installed correctly, car seats save lives . . . yet, most times they're not," parenting company 4moms noted on its site. "And there's no easy way to check. We believed it had to be better."

The 4moms infant seat - which was unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas earlier this year and is now finally available for purchase - is the first-ever electronic car seat and one that features robotic technology to actually install itself once the base's anchors are hooked into the vehicle, complete with autoleveling and autotension control. Then, it continuously monitors its status during use, giving moms the confidence every single time they put their baby in the car. If that's not enough assistance, the car seat connects to an app that can recommend the best place to install the seat based on the make and model of your car. It can also track your baby's growth to remind you when to adjust harnesses or move to a convertible car seat.

Like other innovative car seats (namely the Doona stroller hybrid), this one comes at a price. It costs $500 - a steep amount considering it's only for a baby's first year of life. But considering that when the idea was first announced in 2013, 86 percent of readers responded to a poll with serious interest in purchasing one, so it's clearly a technological advance that parents deeply value.

Read on for a closer look at the 4moms self-installing car seat's most noteworthy features and decide for yourself if it's a worthy investment.

Samsung Is Officially Discontinuing the Note 7

You can officially say goodbye to the Galaxy Note 7. Samsung has officially halted production on the Note 7 and will "no longer produce or market" it, according to The New York Times.

The Note 7, which was a promising phone and competitor to the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, has been plagued with problems since the Summer. After numerous reports of phones overheating and exploding, the company and the United States Consumer Product Safety Commissions (CPSC) recalled the device.

The issue seemed resolved, with Samsung offering customers a new Note 7 without any problems. However, several new reports started arising of the new Note 7s also smoking and exploding as well. Late on Oct. 10, the company decided to halt and end the Note 7 at last. If you own a Note 7, you should turn it off immediately and return it to wherever you bought it.

If you're still interested in another Samsung device, the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are perfectly capable replacements. Or, you can also preorder the new Pixel and Pixel XL, the latest phones from Google.

Michelle Obama Is Sending a Powerful Message With This Floral Dress

When Michelle Obama has a powerful message to share, she makes sure that what she's wearing doesn't distract from that. That's why she wore a somewhat simple black and floral printed dress while attending Glamour magazine's Day of the Girl event, where she talked about the importance of education and making it readily available for females around the world. As she shared a bit of her own story and history, revealing she wouldn't be where she is today if it weren't for her schools, her outfit merely complimented her words without stealing the spotlight. Overall, it was a power woman look for sure, and secretly taught us a tip we'll keep with us before heading into our next meeting or interview: don't be afraid to rock something stylish, but make sure it's subtle enough that it doesn't take away from what you're saying. In other words, wear it, don't let it wear you.

Scroll through for more views of Michelle's look straight from Glamour's Facebook Live stream. Then check out the First Lady's casual style, because she's a pro at that, too.

This Is What Kids Have to Say About Trump's "Locker Room Talk"

"Are you both modeling positive and appropriate behaviors for today's youth?" Anderson Cooper asked Donald Trump during Sunday night's presidential debate. "You describe kissing women without consent, grabbing their genitals. You brag that you have sexually assaulted women."

If you watched or read about Sunday's debate, you'll know that Trump's response went like this: "No, I didn't say that at all. I don't think you understood what was said. This was locker room talk. You know, when we have a world where you have ISIS chopping off heads . . . "

Our potential future president has made it clear that most of what he knows how to do is make excuses and change subjects, and as it turns out, our kids are noticing these facts as well. In the above video, a group of kids who have been watching the debates had their own thoughts about Trump's responses, actions, and beliefs.

"I think what he's trying to imply by 'locker room talk' is like, oh it doesn't mean anything, it's casual talk, but he's saying really offensive things. He's using 'locker room talk' as an excuse."

"I don't think that he answered the question at all. I think he just keeps on changing the subject."

"He starts talking about ISIS and all the bad things in the world, but he feels that it's acceptable to be really bad to women and say those things about women."

Watch the rest of the video to hear what else these perceptive young people had to say about Trump's debate performance.

This 25-Year-Old's Instagram Looks Totally Normal, Until You Connect the Dots

Twenty-five-year-old Louise Delage is like many other young women: she spends her Summer at the beach, hits the town with friends, and documents it all on Instagram, of course. Though she joined the social media platform on Aug. 1, she has more than 75,000 followers and counting. At first, most of her followers commented on her lavish lifestyle or looks. However, after some time, her followers came to the startling realization that most of her photos feature alcohol in some way.

Finally, Louise came clean. Well, "Louise" is actually BETC Digital, a Paris-based marketing agency that created the "Like My Addiction" campaign for Addict Aide. The organization and Instagram posts were to raise awareness about alcohol abuse among young people. Over time, the agency took these photos of "Louise" to prove a point about the prevalence and ubiquity of alcohol on social media platforms. To attract more followers, the agency posted three times a day during peak times and used popular hashtags in separate captions.

Needless to say, it worked. The agency recently came forward in a sobering video, shown below, with a caption that read, "Like my addiction." Long before the video, though, many of Louise's followers had already connected the dots and began to realize the common theme. Many of them even expressed feeling concerned for her.

Look ahead for pictures from the powerful project.

A Ranking of the Worst Halloween Candy For Your Teeth

Knowing that a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup takes 734 jumping jacks to burn off may not really phase you, or prevent you from reaching for another. But maybe knowing that those little fun-size treats really do a number on your dental health might make you think twice.

Dr. Holly Halliday, a periodontist, and Dr. Gabriel Mannarino, a dentist, both from Williston Dental Team told POPSUGAR that it's "the most cariogenic foods (ie. the most likely to cause cavities) are the sticky ones." Here's their list of sticky candies from worst to least harmful:

Laffy Taffy
Starburst
Dots
Gummy Bears/Worms
Skittles
Raisinets
Snickers
Milky Way
Twix

Before you go cry into your Jack-o-Lantern, they offered a bit of good news. Better candy options include Kit Kat, Nestle's Crunch, Hershey's Chocolate, M&Ms, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, and "similar chocolates because they are not as 'sticky' as the ones mentioned above."

But more important than what candy you unwrap is how you eat it and what you do after you're done. Holly says, "It's better to have them all at once than several times throughout the day. When you have them all at once it's just one insult to the teeth, but if you eat them often during the day, you're constantly exposing the teeth to sugar. That constant exposure ultimately weakens the enamel, which is called decalcification. If it continues, the enamel will become cavitated, and you have a cavity!" Holly and Gabe then recommend rinsing the mouth out with water to dilute the sugar, and waiting at 30 minutes to brush your teeth.

Holly adds that it's not only candy that puts your teeth at risk for cavities. "Anything that gets stuck in the grooves of the teeth or in between them and stays there for a long time is more likely to cause a problem." Most people don't think of raisins, dried apricots, dates, fruit leather, and one of the worst offenders - potato chips! - as "cavity-causing," but they are if you eat them often.

10 Genius Makeup Hacks For Women With Hooded Eyelids

What do Taylor Swift, Jennifer Lawrence, and Lauren Bacall have in common, besides all being unequivocally beautiful? There's a distinct idiosyncrasy that they each share: hooded eyes. This feature is characterized by excess skin that folds down from the brow bone and "hoods" part of the eyelid. The result is an alluring, sexy look that exudes confidence and wisdom (think the opposite of doe-eyed).

However, as alluring as hooded eyes - and the women who possess them - can be, they often prove to be a difficult canvas for makeup. That's because your canvas is partially obstructed. Instead of having a flat, spacious eyelid to paint, powder, or line, those with hooded eyes are working with lids that cut into their natural crease.

Not sure if you possess this unique trait? Here's a surefire way to tell: First, looking into a mirror, determine whether you have a crease above your eye. If not, then you have monolid eyes, not hooded eyes. But if you do identify a crease, ask yourself if your crease is hidden when your eyes are wide open. If the answer is yes, then you have hooded eyes.

If you're of this very common category, then you've likely struggled with making bright shadows pop or keeping makeup from smudging, and you've almost definitely thrown your liquid liner across the room while trying to create the perfect cat eye. But this challenging shape has never stopped beauties like Blake Lively or Emma Stone from rocking whatever look their heart desires, so don't let it intimidate you either. With a little dexterity and the right tools, you can turn your hooded canvas into a makeup masterpiece. Read on for our beauty tips for hooded eyes.

Emily Blunt Explains Why Rachel Isn't American in the Girl on the Train Movie

Anyone who's read The Girl on the Train knows the novel is set in London and its surrounding suburbs, but for the big-screen adaptation, the setting is moved to New York. In turn, while the characters in the book are British, in the film they're American - except for the titular girl on the train, Rachel Watson, played by Emily Blunt. The choice left some fans of the book scratching their heads, especially since Luke Evans and Rebecca Ferguson, who are Welsh and Swedish, respectively, use American accents for their characters in the film. I asked Blunt about the choice during a press day in New York, and apparently making Rachel American was a consideration:

"I was open to doing whatever people wanted, I could've played it either way. But I think that Tate [Taylor, who directed the film] really loved the idea of maintaining the accent. Number one because New York is so cosmopolitan, there's British people everywhere. It was also sort of an ode to the book, which is nice. And Tate liked the idea that how I speak makes me even more isolated, in a strange way. Even more removed from everybody else. Maybe there's something good in that. I think for me, it was helpful because it was the most uninhibited that I was required to be in my entire career, so I didn't want to be weighed down by anything, which you typically are when you don't speak that way normally."

Thought Watching the Debate Was Rough? Try Watching It With a Tween Son in the Room

We were only five minutes into watching the second presidential debate when I started blushing. My husband, my 10-year-old son, and I were sprawled across the sofa after an otherwise rainy and quiet Sunday afternoon. After taking an interest in the presidential election in school, my son asked if he could stay up past his bedtime to watch "at least the first half" with us. I knew what to expect - we all knew what to expect - based on the release of that tape of Donald Trump and TV host Billy Bush having a vile conversation about women, but how can you tell your civic-minded child that he can't watch one of the pillars of our democratic system?

But five minutes in, I was already regretting my decision. Seven months ago I had a similar reaction after watching the Republican debate with my son and listening to Donald Trump discuss the size of his manhood in response to an earlier insinuation by Marco Rubio. But this was already worse. The first question came from an audience member who asked if either of the candidates thought they were modeling appropriate and positive behavior for youth, saying "the last presidential debate could've been rated as MA - mature audiences." You could say that again! It would only be a few minutes before the elephant in the room made its way onto the debate floor.

As Anderson Cooper posed the second question, I knew it had arrived. "We received a lot of questions online, Mr. Trump, about the tape that was released on Friday, as you can imagine," Cooper began. "You called what you said locker room banter. You described kissing women without consent, grabbing their genitals. That is sexual assault. You bragged that you have sexually assaulted women. Do you understand that?"

My eyes immediately darted to my son, who looked confused and uncomfortable. We had discussed the CliffsNotes version of Friday's news but hadn't gone into much detail. How do you explain to your impressionable child that the man laughing about kissing women whether they agree to it or not and grabbing their genitals is running for the highest office in the land and has the support of millions of people?

The answer is you don't. You tell him that the man is a misogynist and explain what that word means. You use the opportunity to begin a much deeper conversation about consent (while sending your 7-year-old to bed). You tell your 10-year-old that you are about to have a mature conversation with him because the news of the day dictates that - a conversation you weren't prepared to have for another few years but will begin now because he needs to know this was not just "locker room banter." You discuss that boys and men must not only respect women in their presence, but defend and champion them when they aren't in the room. And you talk about the importance of consent.

I'll admit that the conversation was not as in depth as I wanted it to be - I was determined to watch the full debate in real time vs. seeing my friends commenting about it on social media - but it was a beginning. About 45 minutes in, as talk moved to taxes and health care, my son grew bored of the debate and asked to change to the football game. We told him it was time for bed and he called it a night.

This morning, he asked what he missed. He specifically wanted to know if Donald Trump "said any other crazy things." My kids know my political beliefs - I wear them proudly on my t-shirts and speak of them often - and they know that some friends and family don't have the same beliefs. But I'm also raising them to know what's right and wrong - not politically, but morally. Unfortunately, this election is providing us with more fodder than I ever could have dreamed about.

Prime Reading joins a list of benefits Prime users already receive, like two-day free shipping and access to Prime Video. The books available for Prime reading will rotate, but Amazon promises that people will be able to read books like Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and The Hobbit. In addition to books, Prime Reading also includes magazines, Kindle Singles Classics (short stories from writers), and Kindle Singles (short stories, essays, and memoirs).

Accessing Prime Reading is easy enough. If you're already a Prime member, open up the Kindle app on your iPhone or Android device. Or, use your Kindle or Fire tablet to see it. This should make accomplishing any book challenges even easier!
