Instagram's 2 New Features Might Make You Forget All About Snapchat
Are you someone who goes back and forth between using Snapchat and Instagram? Well, Instagram's two new features, live video and disappearing photos and videos in direct messages, might finally make you stop switching between the two.
Instagram's live video combines features from Facebook Live and Twitter's Periscope. To go live, all you need to do is swipe right and tap "Start Live Video." Unlike Facebook and Periscope, however, the live video exists only in the moment - it disappears once you're done filming. If you're someone watching the live video, you can tap and leave hearts (similar to Periscope) or leave a comment. Swipe right on a live video to see more, or go to the search page to discover who's live right now. Instagram is testing the feature for now and will roll it out to everyone in the next few weeks.
For those of us who love Snapchat's ephemeral photos and videos, Instagram is now integrating something similar into the app. Starting today, you can send temporary photos and videos to your friends as a direct message. When you look at your direct messages, you'll see what messages have these short-lived photos and videos at the top.
Read ahead to see what these two new features look like and start playing around with them. It might be enough to make you forget about Snapchat's spectacles.

I have a confession to make. Sometimes, I use the fact that I'll have to shower after as an excuse to not work out. It's a legitimate problem though - and I know I'm not alone. Don't act like you haven't done the same before. Sometimes I'm just having a good ass hairday and can't jack it up with a workout. (Priorities, right?)
So, the solution? Squeeze in a workout right before hopping in the shower. Genius. All the moves can be done within a small space and only take five minutes. Yes, FIVE minutes!
There ya go. No more the "but I'll have to shower" excuse. And if that's never been an issue for you - consider this a quick workout for when you're in a pinch!

This Sparkly Unicorn Chocolate Is About as Rare as a Real Unicorn, but OMG
One UK candy company is getting in on the mythical creature fun with their limited-edition unicorn chocolate bar. The flavor is "white chocolate with a yogurt and raspberry-cassis rainbow," and naturally there's a layer of edible glitter on top of each chocolaty bite.
The superexclusive bars already appear to have been distributed to lucky influencers (and unicorn enthusiasts) across the UK, so that noise you just heard? It's the sound of our hearts breaking. Check out these incredible photos from some of the lucky unicorn chocolate recipients - maybe if we stare at them long enough, Ritter will decide to mass-produce this magical treat for the rest of us.
If you thought our unicorn cake tutorial was the end of unicorn-inspired desserts, we're happy to report that you're wrong. Unicorns have taken over fudge, cupcakes, chocolate bark, and even milkshakes, and they show no sign of stopping!

I Did CrossFit 5 Days a Week For 1 Month and This Is What Happened
I don't really want to share half-naked selfies of myself with the world, but I feel compelled to. Because after years and years of working out four to six days a week, running and training for half-marathons, sweating it out in yoga classes, and eating healthy, I have finally caught a glimpse of the kind of transformation I have been wanting ever since I can remember. And it's only been one month.
Before
This might sound like a PSA, but so what? I really do owe it all to CrossFit. I had been wanting to try it for years but through two pregnancies, working, and taking care of my two young kiddos, I just felt like I couldn't carve out the time. It was kind of a lame excuse, actually, and I realized it was high time to make the time and do something for me. So on Mother's Day 2016, I bought myself a $250 On-Ramp course for CrossFit. No it's not culty, yes the workouts are frickin' hard, and yes, the community support really is amazing and was the key to my success.
After completing that course, I decided to go all in and committed to going for one month, five days a week. Here's what happened.
- Weight down: I have been the same weight for years, trying to lose those last pesky pounds that hide my muscles and make me look softer than I'd like. I was amazed when I stepped on the scale and realized I was at the weight that I lied about on my driver's license. Down five pounds! I mean, that's huge when you don't have a ton of weight to lose. CrossFit smacked my weight-loss plateau in the face!
- Less to pinch: OK, so the scale isn't everything. I also lost at least one inch around my waist. It's not an enormous change, but I can totally tell in the photos because it's the first area of my body my eyes move to whenever I look in the mirror. I have had a belly my entire life it seems, and I can finally see it slimming down and that little muffin top diminishing. I even noticed a little definition in my obliques!
- Arm definition: While brushing my teeth a couple weeks in, I happily noticed my biceps bulging but didn't think anything of it until the month was up and people commented on my arms. "What have you been doing?" they asked. Someone else said when they hugged me, my arms felt stronger. Even the Comcast guy who came to fix my cable commented on my "guns." I also noticed more definition in my upper back.
After
- Toned thighs: I've always had lean legs, thanks to running and inherited genes from my mom, but they look even more toned and defined. I slipped on a pair of leggings and loved that I could seen my quad muscles popping out a little. Thank you lunges and deadlifts!
- Perkier butt: I also inherited a flat butt from my mom, but a month full of squats, wall balls, and kettlebell swings have turned my flat rear into a more shapely, rounder, lifted bum. My husband has noticed, too. Bonus!
- More energy: I used to run for an hour in the morning from 6 to 7 a.m., and by late morning/early afternoon, I felt completely drained. My body felt exhausted, my brain felt foggy, and all I wanted was a nap. I craved sugar and chocolate because I thought it'd give me a pick-me-up. Of course, that backfired with an inevitable sugar crash, plus the extra calories didn't help me lose weight. I didn't feel tired once during this month-long CrossFit experiment. Even after getting up at 4:50 to make my 5:45 a.m. classes, I still had more physical and mental energy.
- Less hunger: Now this surprised me. I thought all that intense cardio and heavy lifting would leave me insatiably famished. But I felt way less hungry than I did after those hour-long runs. I never ate before those early a.m. classes for fear or puking, and by the time I got home, showered, and started working, I wasn't hungry until 9 or 10. I was also inspired to eat better because I was putting in all this time and energy, and I didn't want to undo all that by devouring half a box of Wheat Thins dipped in peanut butter.
- Varicose veins diminished: I thought the bulging blue varicose vein behind my left knee was the oh-so-special badge of honor I shared with moms everywhere. But after four weeks of CrossFit, I swear, it's hardly noticeable. The increased blood flow from all that heart-pumping cardio works magic! I feel way more confident in short shorts and skirts now.
- Stronger overall: Carry three bags of groceries on each arm from the car to the house? No problem! Lifting heavier weights for just one month made me stronger and more capable of handling life's challenges. When both kids' heads accidentally collided when reaching for the same flower, CrossFit mommy power came to the rescue and I could bend down and lift 80 pounds worth of kid without my knees giving out with energy left to kiss both boo-boos! Running feels easier, previously difficult yoga poses like One-Legged Crow are doable, and come Winter, I'm excited to see how CrossFit-strong legs tackle the ski slopes.
- Confidence: It wears on you when you spend years thinking about your weight while working hard to change your body and not seeing the results you're after. Making a change that actually worked was life changing. I feel more confident and am just overall happier. I also realized that I like pushing myself and since CrossFit encourages you to to get stronger every day, I'm embracing this feeling of pride, and it's inspiring me to keep pushing myself. I see now why people become hooked on WODs. It only took one month, but I'm addicted now, too. I can't wait to see how my body changes in the months to come.

Gilmore Girls: Why Corn Starch Is So Special to Rory and Dean
While we may have rallied for Dean to have more than five minutes of screen time in Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, the time we do spend with him is very special. Rory bumps into him as Doose's, and their interaction includes a heartwarming shout-out to their first kiss in season one of the original series. As he's walking out the door, she spies a box of corn starch, and calls out to him. He chuckles and says, "Pay for it this time." If you've forgotten, here's the scene they're referencing:
And now we have to go back and watch the whole series again.
Is Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life Coming Back for a Second Season?
Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life was supposed to be cut-and-dry. One season for Any Sherman-Palladino to properly wrap up the series she started, and for fans to get closure with their long-lost friends. Instead, infamous those Last Four Words opened new doors in a way that we didn't expect, leaving us with even more questions that we came in with.
Warning: Major spoilers below!
Rory is pregnant, so what does that mean for the series? If this were a regular show, it would just be a cliffhanger until we find out who the father is next season - but it's not just a regular show anymore. Is it Logan's baby? A Wookie child? At no point in the series did she seem to long for a child; did she enlist Paris's help to be a surrogate for Lorelai and Luke? Will this haunt us for the rest of our lives??
That certainly seems to be Sherman-Palladino's intention. Before the new episodes premiered on Netflix, she teased the ending to Entertainment Weekly. "We got the ending that weirdly was supposed to be the end of the series. They could've done something in season seven that would've changed our ending and that would've been OK, but they didn't . . . I knew it from the very beginning, I really did. And it was only because I knew where I wanted the show as a series to go."
Netflix currently has no plans for a second season of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. But hey, that doesn't mean that it definitively won't happen. We'll keep you posted!

Proof That Girls With Green Eyes Can Wear Every Eye Shadow Color
Being blessed with green eyes makes you somewhat of a unicorn! Your rare eye shade often changes hues in the light, gives you a distinct uniqueness, and also allows you to be ultra creative with makeup.
On the color wheel, green is paired with reds and pinks. But when we look at real images of emerald eyes next to diverse shades like gold, aqua, and purple, the results are stunning.
Here, we prove via images women shared on Instagram just how many different styles green-eyed girls can pull off.
Brunettes Will Swoon Over These Fall-Friendly Rainbow Hair Ideas
When I first covered rainbow hair in the Summer of 2014, I was spotlighting a select few women who were bold enough to rock unexpected colorful coifs in everyday life. Since then, the style has evolved to become a universally beloved look. Whether you're walking through the streets of New York City or Hong Kong, you'll see dozens of varied manes, including rose gold hair, amethyst strands, or denim dye jobs.
Equally apparent as these vibrant heads of hair is that the rainbow trend is especially popular among blondes (both natural and bleached). This is because light strands are an excellent foundation for electric dye . . . the color just pops on top. As a brunette, I felt jealous of this advantageous hair color and bemoaned my darker 'do. That is, until colorist and Brush In Hand owner Hannah Edelman created the now-viral chocolate mauve trend, which incorporated the client's naturally brunette roots.
According to Edelman, almost all hair needs to be prelightened for rainbow.
"I ask my clients to imagine they have a half white, half dark brown piece of paper in front of them," said Edelman. "If they painted a pink line with watercolor paint across both halves, where would they see the color? Only on the white paper. Semipermanent hair color is the same: completely translucent." She added, "You cannot get around the fact the hair needs to be lightened."
In the world of hair dye, there is a color wheel that assigns numbers to (natural) hair colors, starting with one - black - and ending with platinum 10. To tint their strands with rainbow shades, brunettes need to lift their natural color to a minimum of a level six on the hair color wheel (which is the darkest shade of blond you can be without being a light brunette).
That said, if you are wary about making the plunge and fully committing to platinum blond, you can make the process easier on yourself and your hair. Try an ombré balayage style, which will fade nicely into a standard blond and require much less upkeep than a completely bleached foundation.
The rainbow hue you select will also indicate how much you should lighten your hair. "Blues and violets should have a level eight or nine base," said Edelman. (These are pale blonds.) "For reds, oranges, and yellows, and greens, hair needs to be lifted to a level seven or eight," but she acknowledged that red will be visible (albeit less powerful) on a level six blond. Those who feel passionate about achieving pastel hair should know that you must bleach your hair all the way to a "level 10 with minimal warmth" (white blond).
Now that you're likely feeling more intrigued about pursuing colorful hair, we have good news. Edelman has divulged her favorite Fall/Winter rainbow styles that cater best to brunettes. Should you be convinced that you won't be able to pull off your top pick with your complexion, don't be: your skin tone should not be the ultimate deciding factor.
"Vivids are already breaking the rules," she said. "You can rock anything as long as you're sassy." So whether you're in search of a more subtle style or a vivid rainbow look, you'll find some serious inspiration when you read on.

If trendier renditions of cheesecake like Fruity Pebbles cheesecake or no-bake pumpkin cheesecake aren't your thing, stick to tradition and try this viral recipe that's guaranteed not to disappoint.

A Reminder That The Holiday Contains One of the Most Heartbreaking Scenes in Movie History
The Holiday isn't necessarily lauded as a Christmas classic due to the fact most people watch it home alone on Friday night when it airs on TBS, Ben and Jerry's pint in hand. Despite this, the romantic comedy has really held up over the past decade. Since the movie's 10 year anniversary is coming up in December, it's time to give ageless actress Kate Winslet's flawless performance as Iris its due. As a romantically challenged British woman desperately searching for a distraction from her doomed relationship, there are plenty of gut-wrenching moments. However, none of them compare to the scene when she delivers an epic speech about heartbreak that perfectly encapsulates how it feels to break up with someone (i.e. torture and death). Watch the speech above if you have a big box of tissues handy, and if you need a pick-me-up, check out 17 other essential holiday movies.
The Backpack Challenge Might Be the Most Savage One Yet
In case you thought those viral challenges couldn't get any crazier, the #BackpackChallenge is here to change your mind. According to Mashable, the challenge was created by Twitter user abucciwood and is very similar to the game dodgeball.
In order to do the challenge, students line up in rows of two and toss their heavy backpacks at one unlucky challenger, who attempts to get through the attacks without falling over. Keep reading to see more examples of the latest viral challenge that you may - or may not - want to participate in ahead.

There's Officially Game of Thrones Wine, So You Can Drink and Know Things
The wise Tyrion Lannister once said, "Everything's better with some wine in the belly." And now the folks from Game of Thrones are making sure that fans can always have wine in their bellies with a brand-new line of officially licensed wines, made in collaboration with Vintage Wine Estates. So whether you aspire to become "the god of tits and wine" or simply aim to "drink and know things," take a page out of Tyrion's book and grab yourself a bottle (or three) of these Westeros-worthy varietals.
The wines will be available in Spring 2017, which means they'll be on shelves nationwide in time for the show's seventh season return. According to HBO's press release, the three wine options are Chardonnay ($20), a red blend ($20), and Cabernet Sauvignon ($40) - so they may not be Tyrion's favorite Arbor gold, but these Sonoma wine-country varietals sound like the next best thing.
See the gorgeous bottles and label details, then start planning your King's Landing-inspired wine cellar. It's what Tyrion would want.

27 Holiday Movies You Can Stream on Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, and HBO Now

After all, cold - perhaps even snowy, depending on where you live - weather is coming our way, and there's nothing quite like tucking in with a feel-good holiday film. Before you resign yourself to renting something, take a look at the free (with subscription) movies you can watch right now. All the titles link to where your can watch them!
Netflix
Netflix is where you'll find the biggest titles. Love Actually is fortunately still available for your annual viewing, but there are also classics like White Christmas.
- A Very Murray Christmas
- Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas
- Miracle on 34th Street
- Christmas With the Kranks
- The Legend of Frosty the Snowman
- Ernest Saves Christmas
- Saving Santa
- White Christmas
- The Fitzgerald Family Christmas

Amazon
Unfortunately, holiday movies aren't Amazon's strong suit. You can rent or buy the major ones to stream, but if you just want to watch something that comes free with your Prime subscription, you're limited to some pretty cheesy-sounding titles.
- A Merry Friggin' Christmas
- Christmas Miracle
- Christmas Lodge
- A Norman Rockwell Christmas Story
- Christmas Grace
HBO Now and HBO Go
What HBO lacks in quantity it makes up for in quality. The five holidays movies they have are all great ones, including Reindeer Games, which yes, is a Christmas movie.
Kelly Bishop Confirms That Returning to Gilmore Girls Was Pure "Heaven"
When Netflix announced that it was dusting off Gilmore Girls for a four-part reboot, the show's devoted fans just about lost their damn minds. The internet was almost instantly abuzz with heady theories regarding Rory's (Alexis Bledel) love life, what creator Amy Sherman-Palladino's infamous last four words for the series will be, and deep analyses of the recently released trailers. Despite viewers practically champing at the bit at this point to see the Gilmore girls make their triumphant return on Friday, they still don't hold a candle to Kelly Bishop. "It's heaven to be back," she said of returning to the show, looking just as polished and elegant as Emily Gilmore ever has while sitting in a hotel room overlooking Central Park. "It was like going home."
That sentiment seems to resonate with a lot of devoted fans, who view Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life as less an exercise in nostalgia and more a chance for closure for the beloved characters they were forced to say goodbye to nine years ago. They're happy to go home to Stars Hollow, even if it's for the last time. Surprising as it may be, Bishop revealed that not everyone was as on board with continuing the Gilmores' story, at least at first. "I had actually been pressuring Amy Sherman-Palladino for years to see if we could do a movie of it, all the way back to maybe the second year we were off the air," Bishop said. "I think that Warner Brothers was a little loath to do it. I don't think they quite understood what they had. I think they thought it was another teenage show, like all the other teenage shows. But it started to develop a following."
Sitting across from Bishop, clad in a silky black, bedazzled blouse (the most tasteful bedazzling you could possibly imagine, I should add) and with the subtle curls her character is known for, she looks just like Emily, only slightly softer. The voice is the same, the razor-sharp look in her eye is the same, but the near-giggle she lets out while recalling a federal judge who used to demand his employees not bother him while he watched Gilmore Girls each week is a reminder that the two couldn't be more different. "Emily is just so unpleasant. Sassy is a nicer way to put it," she said. "She's so outspoken and so snobbish. To me, she has so many things wrong with her, things that I don't like in women. When I get a character like that, I like to really work it and make her as thoroughly unpleasant as possible, because I want to play them as awful as they can be. Somehow I've managed - and I didn't do this on purpose - to make her sympathetic. People don't hate me as much as I thought they would."
If fans felt for Emily before, as she nitpicked her rocky relationship with daughter Lorelai and spoke in constant snark, the new episodes certainly seem to hint that we'll see a more vulnerable side to the character. Each episode is designated a different season, and we'll pick up with Emily in Winter, six months after Richard (actor Edward Herrmann, who passed away in 2014) has died. All of the Gilmore girls grapple with the fallout of his death (Bishop calls Herrmann's absence from the show "a real emptiness"), but Emily is obviously hit the hardest. "Emily is just groping around trying to find her way with dignity, with complete confusion," she said. "She's not acting confused, but she is confused. She doesn't know where to go or what to do. As she says in one scene, 'We were married for 50 years, half of me is gone.' We watch her find her way, whatever her way is. It might not be somebody else's way, and some of it's a little weird, but of course it is. It's Amy Sherman-Palladino!"
The most recently released trailer hints at a whole new Emily, showing her getting rid of all of her belongings à la Marie Kondo and dressed in, wait for it, jeans. The character's edge isn't all gone, though. Bishop notes that when we first see Emily, her connection with Lorelai is as strained as ever, which will be explained in a flashback to Richard's funeral. Their relationship has "taken on a more mature dysfunction" rather than mellowing over the years, but what else could we expect from the Gilmores? Their Stars Hollow alter egos notwithstanding, Bishop lights up while talking about her onscreen daughter. "Just the thought of getting back together and working with Lauren, I'm really crazy about Lauren," she said. "We really love each other, both as actors and as people. That is a joy."
When you think about it, "joy" is probably the best word to sum up Gilmore Girls, isn't it? Pure, caffeinated, pop-culture-saturated joy.

11 DIY Beauty Remedies Your Grandma Always Talked About That Actually Work
Every abuela has one: that wild concoction she whips up from ingredients in her kitchen and swears by every time you have a pimple, dry skin, unruly hair - you name it. As kids, most of us rolled our eyes and went along with it, but we've done a little digging, and it turns out maybe Grandma wasn't so crazy after all. Many of those beauty recipes actually work! Warning: do try these 11 practices at home for smooth skin and silky hair - or get these beauty buys that are also grandma-approved.
1. Using mayonnaise as a deep conditioner for healthy hair.
According to hairstylist Nathaniel Hawkins, this old-school method works because of the fat to protein ratio. "The oil softens the hair, making it shinier - and the protein in the eggs will make strands stronger." He recommends applying the treatment to dry hair, and leaving it on as a mask for 15-20 minutes. Shampoo twice, and condition afterwards. But, Hawkins notes, this treatment works best for hair that isn't fine or limp.
2. Dabbing nails in olive oil for a healthier look.
Nail expert Stephanie Stone debunked the myth (common in Dominican culture) that rubbing garlic on nails will make them strong (according to studies, it has no benefit). But, she says, applying olive oil (a popular DIY beauty ingredient in Puerto Rico) on nails and cuticles throughout the day is a great way to improve their health. "Keeping your hands and nails moisturized is key, especially if you're trying to repair damaged nail beds. I'd also recommend applying it lightly throughout the day instead of a full on soak. But consistency is key!"
3. Coconut oil as a body moisturizer.
"This one 100% works," says dermatologist (and Sofia Vergara's derm!) Dendy Engelman, M.D., of coconut oil for soft skin, a popular technique in many Latin American countries. "Coconut oil is mostly made up of saturated fats and medium-chain fatty acids, which help repair the skin barrier, trap water to hydrate skin, and also reduce inflammation. And recent studies show it's also a great treatment for eczema."
4. Adding honey to hair conditioner for softer tresses.
A custom common in Caribbean Latin America, honey is a natural moisturizer, which Hawkins says does work to help rehydrate your locks. And using unprocessed honey will give you an extra bonus: it's full of enzymes that will help create a healthy scalp and prevent dandruff.
5. Agua maravilla to fight blemishes.
Also known as witch hazel, this is common in many Latino families, especially from Puerto Rican and Dominican backgrounds. Engelman says it works because the mixture contains anti-inflammatory, astringent, and antibacterial properties. Engelman also recommends Dickinson's Original Witch Hazel Refreshingly Clean Towelettes ($6) to control blemishes and calm bug bites.
6. Washing hair with Coca-Cola for shine.
This is a long-time favorite technique among not just Latino families, but celebrities like Suki Waterhouse. Hairstylist Nunzio Saviano gives this traditional trick the thumbs up: "The acidity closes the hair cuticle, which makes it look healthy and shiny. But be careful: the sugar can leave your hair sticky, so you might need to rinse it out quickly. Apple cider vinegar is an alternative that might not be as messy!"
7. Beach sand as a skin exfoliant.
"Sand is essentially finely granulated rocks, so it's perfect to remove excess dry skin cells," Engelman says. "But because it's so abrasive, I'd only recommend you use it to exfoliate feet. It might be too harsh for other parts of your body."
8. Manzanilla grisi shampoo to lighten hair.
Saviano says that this traditionally Mexican and South American product - which contains Flor de Manzanilla and claims to both wash and lighten hair - does work, but he would use it sparingly. "This will maintain your tone and even lighten it at times, but if you use it too much, your color might become dull or even fade."
9. Grape skin paste for glowing skin.
Grapes are a gold mine, says Engelman. "They'll have a brightening effect over time because they contain vitamins B6, C, and A, and minerals like potassium, magnesium, selenium, and flavonoids, which act as antioxidants and remove toxins from the skin."
10. Sugar and lemon juice as an antiaging exfoliant.
According to Engelman, the sugar crystals act as an exfoliator, sloughing away dead skin, while the lemon juice helps peel away dead skin cells because of their content of alpha hydroxy acid (which is found in many antiaging treatments). Exfoliating is important, Engelman says, "because as we age, our skin doesn't shed as effectively. Plus, getting rid of dead cells helps your moisturizers penetrate better."
11. Avocado for healthy cuticles.
"Actually, rubbing avocado oil on cuticles is more effective than actual avocado," says Stone. But good news for avocado lovers: "Avocados in a healthy, balanced diet will help you see overall improvement in your hair, skin, and nails, too." Bring on the guacamole!

Here's How to Trade In an Old iPhone For an Apple Store Gift Card
Got an old iPhone waiting in the wings? If you're definitely getting the new iPhone 7, turn your elderly iDevice into store credit that you can use to redeem the latest and greatest model to come.
Apple's Trade-Up Program will accept used phones and, after evaluation, you either get in-store credit to use then and there or you can send the phone via mail and receive a gift card redeemable at the Apple retail store or Apple online store. If you choose to do it at the Apple store, you can decide whether to apply the credit you receive to either the "full cost of a new iPhone or to reduce the monthly payments with your carrier." The price varies based on what iPhone model you have.
To trade in online, start by filling out the questionnaire, which will prompt you with questions about the functionality, condition, and carrier of your phone, and whether it has ever been water damaged. After completing the survey for a 16GB silver iPhone 6 in good condition, the estimate return was $200. You can also recycle your old iPhone (or any other device) for free through Apple's Renew and Recycle program.

Feeling Overstuffed and Bloated? Here's How to Get Relief From Your Food Hangover
When there's such a delicious (and elaborate) meal on the table, it's easy to go overboard during the holidays. Whether it's a salt binge, too many sweets, or a combination of the two, don't resign yourself to feeling uncomfortable all day long. These tips will help you feel better sooner.
Start chugging (water, that is): Be sure to hydrate before bed and have a full cup of water ready to drink as soon as you wake up. Former Canyon Ranch director and group fitness expert Aimee Nicotera also recommends drinking two to three liters of water throughout the day. It may feel counterintuitive to drink a lot of anything when you're feeling full, but you'll start feeling better immediately.
Freshen up: Aimee suggests starting out the morning with a hot shower, so there's no time to sit around and succumb to that "blah state." Taking the initiative ASAP will make everything else feel easier. Once you're all cleaned up, don't just reach for any old outfit; choose clothing that makes you feel confident and comfortable. "Feeling better mentally is an important part of feeling better physically," says Aimee.
Fill up with morning fiber: One of the worst things you can do after overindulging is skip out on breakfast the next day and mess with your metabolism. Instead, enjoy a filling breakfast like a cup of oatmeal or bowl of high-fiber cereal. A breakfast that's full of fiber will support healthy digestion and keep your stomach satisfied throughout the morning. This way, you won't be ravenous for a huge lunch or snack on whatever's in sight and stay stuck in the cycle.
Stretch and twist: According to yoga teacher Tara Stiles, it's plain and simple: "Twists just get things moving." After a big meal, get things moving with a fire-building yoga sequence full of twists that support digestion and release toxins. If you don't have time for a full sequence, take two minutes to move through a handful of yoga poses for digestion - especially that Reclining Twist!
Get in some cardio: Even if you're feeling bloated and sluggish, hitting up a quality cardio session to sweat things out is one of your best defenses against the dreaded food hangover. Whether you head to your favorite cardio class or spend 30 minutes on the treadmill, you'll feel 10 times better after a little exercise.
Keep your meals clean: You don't have to go overboard with a liquid diet or crazy detox, but do your best to eat clean all day long. Reach for balanced, light meals full of fresh seasonal produce and whole grains. Steer clear of processed foods and too much sugar or salt - your body will thank you later.
Let it be: After you've had a fun night out, don't be unkind to yourself. There's no reason you shouldn't be able to enjoy a festive meal freely, so don't allow negative self-talk to take over. The best thing you can do is move forward with a positive attitude and happy memories of your fun.
