Parents Are Reporting That Their Kids' Hatchimals Use Swear Words

The latest news in Hatchimals is that they enjoy swearing just as much as many moms do. Parents are taking to social media with tweets, statuses, and videos to share that their child's coveted hot toy of the year learned a new trick in the form of repetitive curse words. If you listen carefully to the Hatchimal in the video above, you'll quickly notice that its seemingly innocent snoring noises actually sound a lot like it's saying "F*ck me" over and over and over.

Although this newest revelation regarding the interactive toy is hilarious, it's just another issue parents are having with the toy - one of which involved the eggs not even hatching - since its release late in 2016. Nick and Sarah Galego shared a video of their 6-year-old's Hatchimal showing off its foul mouth, however, the couple told CTV Vancouver that their son loves his toy and is young enough that he doesn't seem to acknowledge the phrase, so they'll be keeping it around.

After seeing the Galego family's video, Spin Master made a statement saying that the toys are not loaded with curses in their vocabulary. "Hatchimals speak their own language made up of random sounds. We can assure you that the Hatchimal is not saying anything inappropriate. The one in the video appears to be sleeping."

Nicole Kidman Remembers Her Late Dad at the Palm Springs Film Fest: "It's Emotional"

As Dev Patel presented Nicole Kidman with an award for portraying his mother in Lion at the Palm Springs International Film Festival gala, her own parents and children weren't far from her mind. "It's so lovely to be here," she told us on the red carpet. "I came here 12 years ago with my dad, so it's emotional."

Nicole's father passed away unexpectedly in 2014, and during her speech, she remembered the year they attended the gala together. She had just split from Tom Cruise at the time. "I was newly single and [my father] came with me as my date. He held my hand as we walked up the red carpet," she said. "And even though he's not here now a lot of great things have happened in my life in the last 12 years. I met the love of my life and I got married to him and I grew my family with him."

As Nicole took the stage, she also reflected on how the role in Lion related to her own experience as mother to two adopted children with her ex-husband, Tom Cruise: Isabella, 24, and Conor, 21.

"The role of Sue Riley so aligned with me, and as an adoptive mother, I suddenly had found this woman who was able to express feelings I didn't have the words for, and she was able to express it - as was the role. And that is a fantastic thing when that happens as an actor; when you find something that deeply aligns with the things that are inside you."

Wondering What Corinne From The Bachelor Does For a Living? Here's What We Could Dig Up

The latest season of The Bachelor rolled out on Monday night, and aside from being filled with drama, we finally got to meet the ladies competing for Nick Viall's heart. While the contestants usually have some unique job titles, there are actually quite a few established career women this go around. One in particular, however, is business owner Corinne Olympios. Even though it's not exactly clear what type of business Corinne manages - there are some rumors that she is involved with ArmorGarage Inc. - we do know that it's a family affair.

During her segment, Corinne revealed that she is running her parents' multimillion-dollar company - but that's not her only occupation. The 24-year-old also has profiles up on ExploreTalent and Model Mayhem. On ExploreTalent, she details her past experience in modeling, acting, and singing, calling it her "dream," while her Model Mayhem profile echoes that same zealous attitude, adding that she is willing to "do whatever it takes to fulfill my dreams and goals." If the previews are any indication, The Bachelor is already painting Corinne as the Chad of this season, so we guess only time will tell if she's doing the show for "the right reasons."

50+ Stars We Lost in 2016

How 1 Boy With Autism Got the Haircut His Mom Didn't Think Was Possible

For parents of children with autism, there are specific activities that can be overwhelming, sometimes triggering temper tantrums and chaos, but one woman went above and beyond to make sure a young boy had a successful haircut, something he usually can't stand. Jennifer McCafferty opened up on Facebook about her son Isaiah's recent haircut, where she praised an employee for giving her and her son an experience she will never forget.

"This woman, Kaylen, at Sports Clips in Charleston did more for my heart than she will probably ever realize," Jennifer wrote. "Haircuts with Isaiah are no small feat. He hates having anything near his ears, the sound of clippers sends him in to a tailspin . . . this evening was no different. I was ready to give up, but she wasn't. She sat on the floor with my baby in her lap, and she cut his hair. They talked about Dory and Christmas, and she even let him spray her with her water bottle. Autism can be so very, very hard, but people like this make our days just a little easier."

It was Kaylen's patience, kindness, and huge heart that made it possible for Isaiah to get a haircut, and we can only imagine how thankful his mother was. We're guessing Isaiah is going to be her new regular client!

Kaylen responded to Jennifer's post, writing, "I am so beyond happy that I could make his experience less stressful and scary. He made my heart smile. You are so lucky to have such a wonderful little boy. This whole experience has been so humbling and heartwarming. I never knew what impact just doing my job could have on someone. Thank you for letting me cut his hair."

When You See Miranda Kerr's Bridesmaid Dress, You'll Think "Genius Choice"

No one wants to spend a couple hundred dollars on a bridesmaid dress she'll never wear again. You want one that not only works for the wedding, but after, too - a piece you can rewear on dates or to other parties. Miranda Kerr hit the jackpot in a sweet eyelet maxi at her brother's wedding. As one of the bridesmaids, the model wore a white dress with delicate lace embroidery and a colorful floral crown. The casual piece looked like something Miranda could've lifted right out of her closet, but it was still an appropriate choice for the wedding in Australia.

We can't help but thank Miranda for finding this unconventional bridesmaid pick because it's a style that won't lose its staying power. The summery piece worked for her brother's ceremony and we can totally see Miranda rewearing the dress - perhaps on a tropical honeymoon with fiancé Evan Spiegel? Saint West Takes His First Steps in an Adorable, Intimate Home Video From Kim Kardashian

Rumors of a potential breakup between Kim Kardashian and Kanye West surfaced in the weeks following the "Famous" rapper's recent hospitalization, but it seems the power couple is stronger than ever. Kim, who has stayed away from social media since her harrowing October robbery in Paris, posted an intimate video of her and Kanye's life at home with their children, Saint and North, on Monday. The two-and-a-half-minute YouTube video is set to Jeremih's 2015 song "Paradise" and features a montage of adorable home videos.

One-year-old Saint can be seen trying to walk with his dad's help, and there are plenty of cute moments showing North in big-sister mode. Despite Kim's decision to let the public into her private life through Keeping Up With the Kardashians - as well as Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat - it's still rare to see her and Kanye in (presumably) unstaged moments like these. A source told Us Weekly that the videos are all "from the past few months," both before and after Kim's robbery and Kanye's breakdown. Watch it above!

How Filmmakers Re-Created Young Princess Leia For Rogue One

Warning: Major spoilers for Rogue One!

Of all the sly references to the original Stars Wars films within Rogue One, there's one that you absolutely cannot miss. As the story wraps up, you see that the end of Rogue One flows seamlessly into the beginning of Episode IV - A New Hope. We find ourselves face to face with none other than Princess Leia, who receives the plans to the Death Star. It's a close-up shot, and while you don't see her long enough to study her, it definitely looks like an actual actress, and not a digitally re-created version of the late Carrie Fisher. Turns out that it's a combination, though it's not as obvious as the CGI job on the late Peter Cushing as Grand Moff Tarkin. So, who does play the Princess?

It's Norwegian actress Ingvild Deila, enhanced with CGI. The day the movie opened, she confirmed via Twitter, "As a Star Wars fan I am incredibly thrilled, grateful and honoured to play Leia and be part of this beloved and amazing universe." You may not recognize her, seeing as her biggest part was a bit role in Avengers: Age of Ultron, but you can watch her demo reel . . . and read her profile via her agency. Also, here's a picture of her from two years ago:

March 20 is National Ravioli Day, but you don't need an excuse to make these cheesy, saucy meals that range from simple toasted ravioli to homemade ravioli with goat cheese and lemon.

Grab Some Tissues, Because Mark Hamill's Goodbye Letter to Carrie Fisher Will Make You a Blubbering Fool

Mark Hamill has much love for his Star Wars costar Carrie Fisher. While many celebrities were shocked by her death, the actor, who played her brother in the franchise, took the news especially hard. Aside from releasing a heartwarming statement about his "beloved space-twin," Hamill recently paid tribute to Fisher with a farewell letter in The Hollywood Reporter. "Carrie and I occupied a unique area in each other's lives," he wrote. "It was like we were in a garage band together that somehow hit it huge. We had no idea the impact Star Wars would have on the world. I remember we were out on tour right before the movie opened. By the time we got to Chicago, there was a crowd at the airport. I said, 'Hey look, you guys, there must be somebody famous on the plane.' I was looking around to see who it might be. And then in the crowd I saw a kid dressed in a Han Solo vest. Then I saw girl dressed like Princess Leia. I said, 'Oh my God, look, Carrie, there's somebody dressed just like you. She's got the buns on her head!'"

The first time I met Carrie was at dinner in London before we started filming together. I had been the first one to go over to Africa with Sir Alec Guinness and the robots, to do all the desert planet stuff, then I came back to London and then Harrison Ford came over. Carrie was the last piece in the puzzle to come to London. So I said to the production office, "I'd like to meet her before we work together." They worked out that we'd meet for dinner. You know, she was 19 years old at the time. I was a worldly 24. So I was thinking, "Oh my God, it'll be like working with a high school kid." But I was just bowled over. I mean she was just so instantly ingratiating and funny and outspoken. She had a way of just being so brutally candid. I'd just met her but it was like talking to a person you'd known for 10 years. She was telling me stuff about her stepfather, about her mom, about Eddie Fisher - it was just harrowing in its detail. I kept thinking, "Should I know this?" I mean, I wouldn't have shared that with somebody that I had trusted for years and years and years. But she was the opposite. She just sucked you into her world.

I was so middle class. Growing up, the closest thing to a celebrity we had was our next door neighbor, who was a baggage handler who returned Jerry Lewis' wallet that fell on the tarmac in San Diego. But Carrie was something completely different. She dropped out of high school to be in the chorus of Irene on Broadway. I was just in awe of her.

She was so committed to joy and fun and embracing life. She had an Auntie Mame quality to her. I would do crazy things to amuse her on the set. Making her laugh was always a badge of honor. I remember during Empire we were split up storywise; it was a difficult film to shot and there was a lot of tension on the set. I was off in the swampland with the puppets and robots, but at least Carrie and Harrison got to work with human beings. Once at lunchtime she said, "You should try on my jumpsuit." I said, "The one-piece white jumpsuit? You're what, 5'2"? I'll never get in!" She said, "Just try." I put on that Princess Leia zipper jump suit and it was so tight I looked like a Vegas lounge singer. If that wasn't ridiculous enough, she had me put on one of those bald cap masks with the Bozo hair and glasses and nose and then she walked me around the back lot.

The lengths I would go to hear her laugh - there were no limits. I loved her and loved making her laugh. She would do these crazy things and make me do these crazy things, but I really don't think they were crazy after all. In a way, it was a defense mechanism for her. She was so off the wall, she could use it as protection. Part of what was so poignant about her was that she was vulnerable, that there was this glimmer of a little girl that was so appealing and it roused the protective nature in my personality.

Hamill also touched on how great it was to reunite with her during Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Episode VIII. "I think it was reassuring to her that I was there, the same person, that she could trust me, as critical as we could sometimes be with each other. We ran the gamut over the years, where we were in love with each other, where we hated each other's guts . . . We went through it all. It's like we were a family." Even though they had their disagreements, he admitted that he wouldn't trade their friendship for anything. "Like I say, she was a handful. She was high maintenance. But my life would have been so much drabber and less interesting if she hadn't been the friend that she was."

The Walking Dead Has Nowhere to Go But Up in 2017

Spoilers for season seven below!

It was during The Walking Dead's season seven episode "Swear" that I finally realized I'd been played. Six episodes into a season that started off with a much-hyped, stomach-churning explosion of blood and brain matter, and the show was still no closer to moving the plot forward in any major way. As a longtime fan of the AMC hit, I know complaints about its slow pacing are nothing new. Every season but the first drags by the time it reaches its middle, typically bogged down by mind-numbing, monotonous exposition that serves no one but the writers desperately trying to find something to fill TWD's 40 minutes. Still, it's hard not to feel cheated by the first half of season seven, which was essentially an eight-episode experiment in lush but meaningless filler. Is it about money? A disconnect in the show's creative vision? Worries that they'll run out of story?

In this line of thinking I'm not alone. As Vulture recently pointed out, a noticeable chunk of the show's massive audience has actually stopped watching, and ratings for this season's midseason finale were down nearly 20 percent. If there were ever a time to worry that TWD was dropping the ball, it's now. In the show's mission to make Negan the most visible threat to Alexandria, TWD let its hordes of terrifying walkers fall by the wayside as nothing more than mildly annoying supporting characters with skulls that have apparently grown so soft that Rick and the rest of his group need only butter knives to defend themselves. The walker lake sequence in "Hearts Still Beating" was the first real, anxiety-inducing moment with zombies since season six, proving that the show has officially lost its stakes. There is no real existential danger when the Saviors are nothing more than an oppressive neighboring state.

With the second half of the season slated to premiere on Feb. 12, there's hope that the show will get back on track. There's no reason that TWD won't be able to lure its fanbase back with explosive new episodes. There's a war coming, after all, and we have a lot to look forward to. If the show plays its cards right, the next batch of episodes might be the best yet. Here are two big things that we have to look forward to.

"All Out War"

As we saw in season seven's midseason finale, Rick's confidence and taste for justice is rejuvenated after Negan kills Spencer Monroe and takes Eugene captive. He and the rest of the Alexandria crew meet back up with Maggie at Hilltop, and as we saw in the preview for episode nine, Rick travels to Ezekiel's Kingdom to presumably convince them to unite against Negan. In the comics, Rick and company end up facing off against the Saviors in a series of attacks known as "All Out War." The storyline includes brutal battles between the warring communities and the eventual capture and imprisonment of Negan, which effectively ends the war.

The Whisperers

Thanks to the comic books and a not-so-subtle hint on the show's official Instagram, it looks like the Whisperers will make an appearance at some point. This group of survivors covers themselves in the skin of walkers, leaving them completely undetected by the zombies and also incredibly hard to spot by other humans. Their leader, Alpha, is also in the habit of impaling the heads of her victims on spikes (which is why TWD's Instagram photo got people talking). Since the Whisperers don't show up until Issue #130 of the books (Glenn's death happens in Issue #100, to put it into perspective) it seems more than likely that we won't get a glimpse of them until possibly the season seven finale. For now, this threat will just have to menacingly loom on the horizon.

All the Drama That's Gone Down Since Mariah Carey's Disastrous New Year's Eve Performance

Thanks to Mariah Carey's iconic Christmas hit, "All I Want For Christmas Is You," the music legend is practically synonymous with the holidays. It seemed like a no-brainer, then, that she was asked to perform a slew of her biggest singles during Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve in NYC on Saturday night. Unfortunately, all did not go according to plan thanks to a number of technical difficulties, which revealed Mariah was lip-syncing and led to her walking off the stage (you can watch the performance here). "Trying to be a good sport here," she told the crowd about the glitch, explaining, "We didn't have a check for this song . . . we're missing some of the vocals, but it is what it is. I'm just going to let the audience sing. We didn't have a sound check for this New Year's baby, it is what it is." Unsurprisingly, people on social media quickly went in on the singer.

It seemed like it would all blow over soon enough, but since the incident, Mariah's team and ABC have been in a savage back and forth about who is to blame for the bad vocals. It doesn't seem like the drama is going to die down anytime soon, so check out a timeline of everything that's happened below.

  1. Mariah laughs off the incident on social media. A few hours after the performance, she posted a GIF of herself shrugging on Instagram along with the caption, "Sh*t happens 😩 Have a happy and healthy new year everybody!🎉 Here's to making more headlines in 2017 😂."
  2. Her camp reportedly claims they were sabotaged. Despite her seeming to have a sense of humor about it all, TMZ reported on Jan. 1 that Mariah and her team felt she was purposefully sabotaged by execs at Dick Clark Productions to score higher ratings and that her earpieces weren't working.
  3. Mariah's manager releases a statement blaming ABC. "We told them [the stage managers] that the in-ears were not working 10 minutes before the performance," Mariah's manager, Stella Bulochnikov, told Billboard. "They then changed the battery pack, and they were still not working on the frequency four minutes before the show. We let them know again, and they just kept counting her down and reassuring her that they will work as soon as they go live, which never happened - at which point she pulled them out but could not hear the music over the crowd."

On top of accusations about the technical difficulties, Stella also decried ABC's choice to air the botched performance on the West Coast despite her request for them not to. "After the show, I called [Dick Clark Productions'] Mark Shimmel and I said, 'What the f*ck happened?' He said, 'Let me call you back,' then called me back and confirmed the in-ears were not working and asked if I would make a joint statement. I said, 'No way.' I asked him to cut the West Coast feed. He said he could not do that. I asked him why would they want to run a performance with mechanical glitches unless they just want eyeballs at any expense . . . It's not artist-friendly, especially when the artist cut her vacation short as a New Year's Eve gift to them."

  4. Dick Clark Productions denies any involvement in sabotaging the performance. "As the premier producer of live television events for nearly 50 years, we pride ourselves on our reputation and long-standing relationships with artists," it wrote on Jan. 1. "To suggest that DCP, as producer of music shows including the American Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards, New Year's Rockin' Eve and Academy of Country Music Awards, would ever intentionally compromise the success of any artist is defamatory, outrageous and frankly absurd. In very rare instances there are of course technical errors that can occur with live television, however, an initial investigation has indicated that DCP had no involvement in the challenges associated with Ms. Carey's New Year's Eve performance. We want to be clear that we have the utmost respect for Ms. Carey as an artist and acknowledge her tremendous accomplishments in the industry."
  5. Mariah thanks her fans. As accusations flew between both parties, Mariah took to Twitter to send a message to her "lambs": "I always always love seeing #Lambily members in the audience. Thank you for all your love and support. #LYM 😘❤️"
  6. DCP reportedly continues to pin the blame on Mariah. According to TMZ's sources, the singer "refused to personally do a sound check" and there was more than enough sound on stage for her to properly hear the music.
  7. Mariah's team apparently wants an apology from DCP. A source at E! News revealed that she "went through vocals and her team ran through sound" and that "all was well at rehearsal" but that "DCP knew her ear piece wasn't working and sent her on stage regardless" on Jan. 2. "It was sloppy and unprofessional on their part. Their statement says they didn't intentionally sabotage her, which [her team] agrees with. It doesn't apologize for failing to do a good job producing her performance, which is what happened. Her team knows that there are sometimes technical issues with live performances. All her manager asked DCP for was an apology for the poor job that they did producing and support of Mariah."

Shay Mitchell Might Be Wearing a Cover-Up, but We Can See Her Bikini Right Through It

We don't only look to Pretty Little Liars star Shay Mitchell for swimsuit inspiration, but for full-on beachwear. The actress is vacationing in Tulum and sharing plenty of moody, carefree shots on her Instagram. While she struck a pose in a Flynn Skye cover-up, it was easy to make out her red string bikini through the sheer piece.

But hey, that's exactly what we like about it. After all, poolside kimonos need not completely hide your bathing suit, but rather offer a sneak peek. Read on for another glimpse at the subtly sexy (and shoppable!) design, then score your own ahead of your next tropical getaway.

Twin Boys Were Born Not Only on 2 Separate Days but Also in Different Years

It's one thing to have a hospital's first baby of the New Year, but for the Shay family, who just welcomed twins, they had that honor in addition to another fun birth-story quirk: their first twin was born right before midnight on Dec. 31. Sawyer Matthew Shay was born at 11:51 p.m. on New Year's Eve, closing out 2016 for his parents with a bang, and his younger twin brother, Everett Jackson, was born at 12:01 a.m. on Jan. 1, making him Banner Health's first birth of 2017.

Although the Arizona fraternal twins are typical in that they're just minutes apart, both boys will have a rare story to tell when they're older about how it is that they were born not only on different days - which both happen to be holidays - but also in different years.

Prince Harry's Love For Africa Has a Bittersweet Connection to His Late Mother

Prince Harry is known for being an activist, but one project that's particularly close to his heart is his work with African Parks. The famous royal recently opened up about the nonprofit organization in the February issue of Town & Country as he worked alongside volunteers, vets, and experts in Malawi to help relocate nearly 500 elephants. Aside from looking devastatingly handsome on the front cover, he also talks about the importance of protecting wildlife and how his relationship with Africa stems from his late mother, Princess Diana. See his best quotes ahead.

Angelina Jolie Started the New Year in the Most Underrated Coat of the Season

Lest you thought Angelina Jolie had only mastered elegance in the office or on the red carpet, the actress is here to prove you wrong. She spent the holidays in Colorado with her children, and when they hit the street to grab ice cream, Angelina debuted an all-black ski look. But while her pants were puffy and her Gore-Tex coat thick, we zoomed in on the little details.

Angelina's quilted snow boots were lined with fur, matching her shearling hood to a T. And if that's not enough to ensure you she looked graceful, what about the lacy black tank that peeked out from under her layers? Though a parka is a Winter jacket some might consider typical, Angelina's smart styling makes it underrated in our book. Read on to get another look, then shop inspired coats and fashion a snow outfit like Angelina's.

Angelina Jolie Flashes a Huge Smile While Ringing in the New Year in Colorado With Her Kids

Angelina Jolie rang in the New Year with her kids by her side. The actress, who filed for divorce from Brad Pitt in September, was all smiles when she went shopping in Crested Butte, Colorado, on Tuesday. Bundled up in a dark parka and snow boots, she was spotted grabbing some sweet treats with her six children after hitting the slopes. The happy outing comes on the heels of Brad's recent visit with the kids on Christmas. After he was cleared in his child abuse investigation, he was able to see his children over the holiday weekend and exchange gifts. As the former couple continues to settle their divorce, it's nice to see Angelina staying so positive and happy.

Manny MUA and Shayla Reveal the Best and Worst Parts About Being Beauty Influencers

Being a beauty blogger with over two million social media fans sounds like the dream gig. You likely started as a makeup artist for MAC at the mall, you set up a camera in your bedroom to shoot a few tutorials, and boom, millions of girls (and boys!) started subscribing to a brand based around your personality. These devotees want to copy your looks, you get sent piles of free makeup, and major beauty brands pay you to collaborate with them. But like all celebrity, fame comes with a price. And in this case, it's often delivered in the form of internet trolls and haters. Being in the Instagram spotlight - while certainly glamorous - is not always as easy as it looks.

Two beauty stars, Manny Gutierrez (@MannyMUA733) and Shayla Mitchell (@MakeupByShayla), are living in this fabulous reality. And while they did need to hustle to get where they are today (both actually started out as MAC pros) and have to deal with ongoing negative criticism, they learned how to take on the challenges with class and style. It's just part of what makes them both so damn inspiring.

Manny is also one of the leaders of the viral men in makeup pack. He is known to test out the latest trends - be it a pink eye shadow look or edgy matte lip. And Shayla is a role model for young black women with her gorgeous natural curls and glowing skin. That said, you certainly do not need to be a dude in guy-liner or a dark-skinned beauty to be fans of their styles.

In fact, they're so popular that Maybelline New York (re: one of the most influential drugstore makeup brands on the planet!) tapped them to be the faces of a new campaign for its The Colossal Big Shot Mascara (which we are fans of and reviewed here).

"We're so excited to team up with Manny and Shayla, who are true leading influencers in the social media world, on our first ever video campaign that features influencers as the stars," Anne-Marie Nelson Bogle, senior vice president marketing for Maybelline New York, said in a press release. "The duo's boss-like personalities, in which they unapologetically slay both their makeup looks and their professional lives on a daily basis, made them a perfect fit for the role. They represented the 'boss' beauty attitude in this mascara campaign that no one else could, truly inspiring their audiences daily to be their own bosses which brings the inspiration and message of this mascara to life. We're looking forward to more exciting social influencer collaborations in the future."

Expect Manny and Shayla to front digital campaigns starting this month. In the videos (below), the duo will be showing fans how to rock #LashLikeaBoss. When we met up with them in NYC for an exclusive interview, they admitted that the commercials were the first time both have gone faux-lash-free in months. Keep reading for more about how they "made it," the classy way to deal with those aforementioned bullies, and exactly where to hold your phone to make sure your strobe pops in selfies.

Newlyweds Margot Robbie and Tom Ackerley Are All Smiles While Holding Hands at LAX

You can definitely tell that Margot Robbie and Tom Ackerley recently tied the knot. The couple, who wed in an intimate ceremony in her native Australia in December, was all smiles after they touched down at LAX on Monday. Dressed in a casual sun dress and sneakers, the Suicide Squad actress looked so in love as she glanced at Tom and held his hand as they made their way through the airport. Despite never announcing an engagement, Margot confirmed their marriage when she posted a cheeky photo of herself kissing her new hubby and showing off her new ring on Instagram.

17 Books to Read Before They're 2017 Movies

As 2017 begins, we're looking forward to a fresh new year of films. And, like any other year, many of the big releases will be based on books. To start thinking about what should be on your reading list - or to see books you've already read up on the big screen - take a look at all the adaptations coming in 2017!

The Smartest Whole Foods Shoppers Take Advantage of This Hack

We reached out to a Whole Foods employee to learn insider tips, and the best secret she shared is that you can taste anything before you buy it. Seriously - there's a company-wide Try Before You Buy policy. This includes but is not limited to anything fresh from the produce section or any packaged foods within the center aisles of the store. She told POPSUGAR, "This is super handy when you head into the produce section. I've used it for things like a new apple variety - I'm very particular about apples. If there's a new apple that comes out, you can just ask someone in the produce section to cut you a slice, and then it actually turns into this fun communal thing because if you do that then other people will see it, and then you're hanging out with other customers."

You might want to brace yourself for what she told me next. "The same thing works for the cheese department, which is extra fun. If you have a specific question, you can end up tasting a bunch of cheeses to get the right one for whatever you're up to. Also, team members are completely empowered to open things on the interior shelves, too. If there's some weird cracker and you're like, 'Can this possibly be good if it's a gluten-free, seed-based cracker?' You can try it before you decide to buy it."

Cheese! Lacinato kale! Vegan white-cheddar popcorn! Not that I'm encouraging taking advantage of this tip so much that you get a free lunch made of samples from all over the store, but I'm just saying it's possible. Even frequent Whole Foods shoppers (like me) had no idea this budget-friendly policy existed. So the next time you step into your neighborhood Whole Foods Market, avoid the "Whole Foods, whole paycheck" stereotype by simply asking someone to try what you're eyeing.

Michelle Obama Left Hawaii in a Dress You'd Never Think to Wear on a Plane

When Michelle Obama jetted off to Hawaii with her family for their annual vacation, she wore a red shirtdress. The piece was vibrant and spoke to the mood of the bright occasion. While she was away, her wardrobe followed suit. She made a brief public appearance alongside Barack in a DVF colorblock wrapdress, maintaining her cheerful style.

Now, while most of us drearily opt for sweatpants on the way home, Michelle sang a different tune when she boarded Air Force One hand-in-hand with the POTUS. The pair's headed back to the White House for now, and Michelle's floral chiffon dress suggested she's feeling positive. Zoom in on her eye-catching sky blue nails for further confirmation - Michelle is wearing her optimism on her sleeve.

Read on to get an all-angles view of the FLOTUS's final vacation dress, then shop for a similar design. Whether you're going or coming, there's no doubt you'll get plenty of wear out of a lightweight fit-and-flare like this one.

Bikini-Clad Hilary Duff Enjoys a Low-Key Day at the Beach With Her Family

If we had to pick the best way to celebrate the New Year, Hilary Duff's tropical vacation would probably be at the top of our list. The Younger actress rang in 2017 in Kauai, Hawaii, with her adorable son Luca, older sister Haylie, Haylie's fiancé Matt Rossenburg, and Haylie's daughter, Ryan. On Monday, the happy family played in the sand, and after a splash in the waves, Hilary gave her 4-year-old son a piggyback ride down the beach. Although Hilary recently broke up with boyfriend Jason Walsh, she looked happy and carefree. Not a bad way to kick off January, right?

Live Somewhere Cold and Own a Gadget? You Gotta Read This

You may not realize it, but freezing temps can be just as dangerous to gadgets - if not more so - as the Summer heat. That's because there are hidden dangers you can't see. Check out these six Winter weather tips that will help ensure your gadgets see the light of Spring this year.

  • Keep them out of the trunk - Keep your laptops, cell phones, and tablets out of the trunk for extended periods during cold days to prevent damage to screens and to keep your hard drive from freezing.
  • If you must trunk it, keep it bundled up - If you absolutely must leave your gear in your car in freezing temps, wrap it up in layers - like a jacket or sweater - to keep it warm. You can also find laptop warmers (which are specifically made for laptops) to keep them from getting icy if you live in cold conditions.
  • Turn them off - Letting your laptop or tablet remain in sleep mode may keep it warmer (since it is still working), but it also increases your chances of damage if you're on the move. Be sure to power down all the way to keep your data safe.
  • Warm up before booting up - If your machine is on the cold side, let it warm up to room temps slowly before turning it on. This will prevent condensation and dew, which can ruin your computer's sensitive guts.
  • Carry a charger - Cold weather sucks the life out of your batteries, so be sure to carry extra chargers in your car for emergencies.
  • Watch out for sensitive screens - Cold weather makes a smartphone screen extra sensitive, so be sure to keep it close to your bod if you're out in the snow or consider a warm accessory - like a smartphone wallet, sock, or sleeve - to keep it cozy.

This Bride Wore a Purple, Prince-Inspired Veil and Thrifted Her Party Dress

When Frank151 editor Lily Waronker married Jonny Gordon at the Alexandria Ballrooms in LA, they got groovy about it. The couple love Prince and the movie Boogie Nights, so they sent out purple invitations and set up their reception like a disco. Of course, the dress code reflected the theme - at least for the bride, who wore a purple lace veil as an homage to the iconic singer and didn't back away from sparkle when it came to her wardrobe.

While Lily's initial gown - a Jonathan Cohen creation brought to life by the designer's partner, Sarah Leff - was made of velvet and stitched with shimmering embroidery, it was her thrifted party dress that we admired most. Lily went shopping in her hometown of LA at Paper Bag Princess, where she found a sequined halter maxi that encouraged guests to dance the night away. Scroll to see all her festive bridal looks that prove outfitting a theme can be pretty darn classy.

9 Iconic First Lady Gowns Worth Talking About

Traveling to Washington DC two days after what will surely be the most important election of my lifetime was scary. I'm not going to lie. I heard rallies outside my hotel room all night and passed angry mobs holding signs outside the Trump hotel. But during the day, while Barack Obama met with President-elect Donald Trump inside the White House, the streets were quiet.

I traveled with a small group of editors to the first ladies inaugural dress exhibit at the Smithsonian Museum, and it was only there, in that small, dimly lit room, that I could feel myself starting to relax. The first sign was a poster on the wall that featured a Q&A series: "How will the first ladies collection change when a woman is elected president?" Using the term "when," not "if," instilled hope. Then I veered off, where a short film of Michelle Obama donating her Jason Wu gown to the museum was playing.

So Much More Than a Dress

"This gown is one of the most tangible things I have left to remember that day. At the end of the day today is about much more than this gown. It's also about how with enough focus and determination someone in this room can be the next Jason Wu. Someone can be the next Barack Obama . . . Something you create today can help teach the next generation in a way that nothing else can," Michelle said at the podium.

Her dress was absolutely one of the most intricate on display, what with its Swarovski crystal embellishments and impeccably organized beading. But these dresses I was admiring, some of which dated back to the 1800s, were not made to make the first ladies feel pretty. Each one signified a new beginning.

"Inaugurations are times of optimism . . . In addition to attending ceremonies and balls, incoming first ladies announce the agendas and special projects they intend to pursue. Some projects are ambitious. Some are traditional. Some may be controversial," read a sign on the wall.

Just like the fashion choices they make. And it's true: every first lady was scrutinized for her style, even if she wasn't viewed as an icon. But it was the choices she made in that suit, the momentous speech she gave in that ballgown, that we'll remember. If a floor-sweeping dress is one way to preserve these memories, why not learn everything we can about it? Why not try to understand why Michelle wore white or Lady Bird Johnson chose a simple yellow sheath?

The Legacy, The Future

As I traveled around the exhibit, reading about each gown and the woman who wore it, I passed a very young girl staring up at a picture of Michelle and Barack Obama on Inauguration Day. "Who's that?" her mother asked her, pointing up at a glowing Michelle. "It's the president! They're both presidents!" she screamed.

The first female president will not be sworn in on Jan. 20. In fact, the Smithsonian Museum will make space for one more dress when Melania Trump accepts her role as FLOTUS. But until then, let's consider the takeaways I learned about the first ladies who stood before her.

Each of the facts ahead is proof that these strong women, from Lady Bird Johnson and Jackie Kennedy to Hillary Clinton and Michelle Obama, were compassionate. They thought of function first, then fashion. They embraced the spotlight, not because of what they were wearing, but because of the confidence they felt when wearing it. All of the women I learned about were leaders. They had what it takes to lead a nation, and one day, a lady as determined as them will. When you're finished reading, I think you'll agree.
