Mandy Moore's Golden Globes Look Hasn't Even Happened Yet, and It's Already Our Favorite

Long before Mandy Moore landed her role on one of this year's biggest TV dramas, This is Us, she had already taken Hollywood as a teen and pop star - and if you were in high school in the early 2000s, you certainly remember that. I, like most millennials, will forever think of Mandy as Princess Diaries' mean girl or belting out "Only Hope" on stage to Landon in A Walk to Remember. I will think of her dressed in pedal pushers and tube tops and flared jeans and pointed-toe pumps on early aughts red carpets for the MTV Movie Awards, but I never really thought I'd see her dressed up and nominated for a Golden Globe; and I'm pretty freaking excited about it.

Breakout stars or legends like Meryl Streep are an inspiration for obvious reasons, but Mandy's accomplishments this year hint at something different. This is Mandy growing up; the 32 year-old actress looks elegant and confident in her own skin - even better than she did in her 20s - and her Golden Globe-nominated role is far more interesting than anything she's played before. She's a reminder that most of the time we're actually getting better with age, dammit. A quick look back at her red carpet past and you'll probably nod in agreement.

Dad Jokes and Cute Cats Star in This Animal Shelter's Hilarious Viral Commercial

Most animal rescue organizations use tear-jerking photos of despondent pets to move people to adopt a new furry friend (we're looking at you, Sarah McLachlan). But one genius animal shelter took a more humorous route, and it's making all the difference. Furkids Animal Rescue and Shelters, a Georgia-based nonprofit with tons of no-kill shelters, recently posted a hysterical online commercial to make its cats look as cute and adoptable as possible. The star of the video is loaded with dad jokes galore, saying things like "2016 models are compatible with Windows" as a group of cats press their paws to an actual glass window. The hilariously enthusiastic advertisement wraps up with an off-key rendition of McLachlan's tear-jerking hit "In the Arms of an Angel" - the ultimate cherry on top.

Why can't all pet adoption commercials be this entertaining? Watch the video above for your daily dose of chuckles and cats.

What You Should Know About the Disturbing Allegations of Sexual Harassment Against Casey Affleck

Image Source: Getty / Laura Cavanaugh

Casey Affleck is currently riding high on the award season success of his latest film, Manchester by the Sea, but his skyrocketing career isn't the only part of the 41-year-old's life that's been pulled into the spotlight. Amid all of the rave reviews for his dark, emotional performance, serious allegations of sexual harassment made against him by two women in 2010 have come back to haunt him.

In October 2016, Variety ran a cover story on Casey, and squeezed in between stories about his childhood and glowing praise for his acting abilities was a brief blip about the lawsuits, which were brought against him by the female producer and the cinematographer of his 2010 mockumentary I'm Still Here. "People say whatever they want," he told Variety when asked about the charges, which were later settled out of court. "Sometimes it doesn't matter how you respond . . . I guess people think if you're well-known, it's perfectly fine to say anything you want. I don't know why that is. But it shouldn't be, because everybody has families and lives." Despite his family-centric brushoff of the claims, what allegedly happened between him and the women working on the set of his film deserves far more than a blip.

Casey and other male crew members almost immediately made comments about having sex with her, and suggested she have sex with the film's camera assistant.
The harassment occurred multiple times on the set of the ill-received mockumentary Casey made with his then-brother-in-law Joaquin Phoenix, according to the film's producer Amanda White and its cinematographer Magdalena Gorka. In December 2008, Amanda signed on to be a producer of the doc after having worked with Casey a few times in the past. In her formal complaint (which you can read in full here), she claimed that the younger Affleck brother repeatedly called women "cows" on set, obnoxiously discussed his sexual encounters, and at one point ordered a crew member to flash his penis at her despite her objections. She also made note of an incident where Casey asked "Isn't it about time you get pregnant?" after hearing how old she was and made comments about how she should have sex with one of the male crew members so she could have a baby.

On top of Amanda's accusations about his lewd behavior, she claimed that Casey physically threatened her more than once. After rebuffing his request to share a hotel room with him one night, she said he grabbed her in "a hostile manner" to try to manipulate her into submitting to his demands. When she still said no, he allegedly called her a variety of "profane names" via text message. Amanda further alleged that while shooting the documentary in Costa Rica one night, she wasn't able to return to her bedroom because Casey and Joaquin - the brother of Casey's wife, Summer, whom he split from after 10 years of marriage in March 2016 - had locked the door so they could have sex with two women they'd invited inside. On July 23, 2010, she filed a $2 million lawsuit against the actor in Los Angeles Superior Court.

While still working as a producer, Amanda was instructed with renegotiating a contract with Magdalena, the film's director of photography, who'd left production early on because of her own alleged negative experiences with Casey. Magdalena described her time working with him in her formal complaint (which you can read in full here) as "the most traumatizing of her career" due to "routine instances of sexual harassment." When she first started working, Casey and other male crew members allegedly almost immediately made comments about having sex with her and suggested she have sex with the film's camera assistant (Casey's close friend). Magdalena hoped that things would get better as production wore on, but she alleged that Casey's behavior only escalated.

Image Source: Getty / Kevin Winter

In mid-December 2008, she traveled to NYC with other crew members to shoot scenes involving Joaquin. Instead of putting the crew up in a hotel, Casey and Joaquin decided to have them stay overnight in their apartment. Magdalena claimed that Joaquin told her she could take his bedroom while he slept in the living room, only for her to wake up in the middle of the night and discover Casey was lying in bed with her. In her complaint, she described him as "curled up next to her in the bed wearing only his underwear and a T-shirt. He had his arm around her, was caressing her back, his face was within inches of hers and his breath reeked of alcohol." Feeling "shocked and repulsed" since she wasn't sure of how long he'd been there or if he'd touched her while she slept, she told him to get out. He allegedly asked her why he had to leave, to which she replied, "Because you are married and you are my boss." He "left and slammed the door in anger." The next morning, Magdalena flew back to LA, told her agent what allegedly happened, and quit I'm Still Here.

After going a few weeks without work, Amanda convinced Magdalena to continue working on the film, which she agreed to in hopes that the presence of both women on set would deter further harassment. Unfortunately, Magdalena alleges that she was once again subjected to "a nearly daily barrage of sexual comments, innuendo, and unwelcome advances by crew members, within the presence and with the active encouragement of Affleck." She resigned once again, which resulted in Casey refusing to give her the "director of photography" credit on the film as retaliation. One week after Amanda filed her lawsuit in 2010, Magdalena filed a $2.25 million suit of her own against Casey in LA Superior Court, citing the "humiliation, embarrassment, and emotional distress as a direct result of the harassment and abuse she endured during production." Amanda was also denied the payment of her producer's fee ($50,000) after complaining about Casey's behavior and claimed that she had yet to be paid at all for the three months she worked on the film at the time she filed her official complaint. Casey initially denied the allegations and briefly threatened to countersue but eventually settled both suits out of court through mediation.

The Golden Globe Awards air on Sunday, which kicks off a long line of appearances from the actor thanks to the multiple award shows that will take place in January and February. Unlike Nate Parker and Bill Cosby before him (both of whose alleged crimes are different and more serious, it's important to note), Casey has been raking in accolade after accolade rather than career-ending blows to his reputation. Much like a former reality star who was elected into the highest office our country has to offer after bragging about his preferred methods of sexual assault and a high-profile actor involved in a domestic violence dispute, it doesn't look like Casey is going to be tried in the court of public opinion for his alleged actions. In fact, it's quite the opposite. Over the next few months, Hollywood will likely not only stand by him but also celebrate him.

The Scary, Unexpected Thing That Happened to Me After a Grueling Workout

I recently tried my first CrossFit-like class at a weightlifting studio and woke up the next morning with more than just sore muscles. I wound up with a subconjunctival hemorrhage. That's the proper term my eye doctor used for a broken blood vessel in the eye that can occur due to sneezing, rubbing your eyes too roughly, or, in this case, heavy lifting. I'll spare you a photo and even dissuade you from doing a Google search, as it looks terrifying. The good news is, a subconjunctival hemorrhage is relatively harmless, doesn't hurt (or prevent you from wearing contacts), and heals on its own in two weeks. The bad? For those two weeks, it looks like someone stabbed you in the eye.

Here's what happens: A blood vessel breaks just below the surface of the eye, but because the eye can't absorb blood very quickly, the blood is trapped, turning the white of the eye red. Over the first few days, it spreads and looks worse before slowly getting better. Our POPSUGAR Fitness director asked me, "What exercise were you doing?" TBH, it could have been the 100 bench presses. Or the five reps of American kettlebell swings. Or the sledgehammer/tractor tire exercise. I don't really know.

The class itself felt like a challenge and outside of my comfort zone. I did grunt my way through the workout, but I wasn't pushing myself to the point of breathlessness or nausea. That's why I didn't feel the burst when it happened. Though the eye hemorrhage didn't stop me from exercising over the next few weeks, it did cause me to be more aware of my limits and to not push myself needlessly, as in complete an absurd amount of reps.

Though I'm committed to shedding the weight I put on during the holidays, and while I did enjoy the class, I'm feeling like part of my 2017 wellness plan is to slow it down and gradually build up my strength rather than strain myself out of the game. So for now, I'll simmer down the high-intensity workouts and stick to lifting my five-pound weights at my own pace.

19 3D Touch Tips That Will Change How You Use Your iPhone

Still confused about what 3D Touch is? Don't worry - I was too until I started tinkering around with the feature more. Available on the iPhone 6S, 6S 7, and 7 Plus, 3D touch is a great shortcut tool to use on your iPhone that you won't regret learning how to use.

In short, 3D Touch uses force and pressure on your iPhone to determine what action to do next. If you press down hard on an app or a link in a message, you'll get a "Peek" of what actions you can take or a preview of links. Press a little harder and you'll "Pop" into the app itself.

Keep reading to see our favorite ways of using it, and then catch up on these other iOS 9 tips.

Starbucks's New Egg Bites Allow You to Try the Sous Vide Trend on the Cheap

You might have heard the term "sous vide" circulating around, but what is it and where can you try it? Allow Starbucks to banish your FOMO - on the cheap - thanks to its 2017 menu. POPSUGAR had a chance to try the new Starbucks Sous Vide Egg Bites ($5 for two) before they are released nationwide on Jan. 10. This low-carb breakfast option (made without bread) has a light and velvety texture due to the sous vide method of cooking the eggs, defined by Starbucks as "a culinary technique in which vacuum-sealed food is immersed in a water bath, and cooked at a very precise, consistent temperature."

Starbucks "noticed this tech-forward trend slowly growing in popularity over the years" and wanted to "develop a perfect, protein-packed egg breakfast." Buying a sous vide immersion circulator for home use can cost you upward of $100 or more, so this breakfast is a great entry point if you want to see what all the fuss is about. Editorial assistant Sarah Siegel tried both of the egg bites and had this to say:

Bacon & Gruyere: "This egg bite is salty, hearty, and has a nutty flavor from the gruyere. It's incredibly satisfying and gives the taste of a traditional breakfast sandwich without the grease or excess bread."

Egg White & Roasted Red Pepper: "Made with monterey cheese and pepper, the flavor really stands out. Light and not so salty, they're blander than the bacon counterpart, but a healthier vegetarian option."

If you need even more condiments to spice up your breakfast options, Starbucks also has plans to expand the release of its avocado spread (essentially guacamole), and if you didn't know this already, it offers sriracha, which, according to Sarah, "tastes different than what you get out of the bottle."

Read This Before You Try Starbucks's New Cascara Latte

Starbucks announced new menu items for 2017, including a new latte with an intriguing name: the Cascara Latte. Eager to try it out, we got one of the first tastes of the latte along with answers to our burning question: what exactly is a Cascara Latte? It's an espresso-based drink that's inspired by the actual fruit that coffee beans come from - coffee cherries. The "cascara," meaning husk or shell in Spanish, is the outer shell of a coffee cherry that encases a coffee bean. With this in mind, Starbucks created its Cascara Latte, which has a syrup made from the coffee cherry extract, coconut, and cane sugars.

According to our resident NYC-based Starbucks enthusiast Sarah Siegel, the latte is subtly sweet and not overbearing. "I always have to tell baristas to use half the syrup they normally do to keep my drink from being overwhelmingly sweet. This latte is lightly sweetened and reminds me of brown sugar," she said. The latte is finished off with steamed milk and topped with micro foam and a cascara topping, "which is a crunchy, sweet topping reminiscent of caramel." It's safe to say this unexpected latte lived up to its expectations and delivered the sweet, satisfying flavor we were seeking. If you're just as eager to try it as we were, look out for the new drink on Starbucks menus starting in early January. It's available early to Starbucks Rewards members on Friday, Jan. 6, and available to all customers nationwide beginning Tuesday, Jan. 10, while supplies last.

This Edgy Technique Will Be One of the Hottest Beauty Trends of 2017

Negative space has long been a technique utilized in eye-popping nail art designs. It's characterized by leaving the bare nail visible in certain areas and, depending how it's executed, can result in a minimalist, cheeky, or even sensual result. Now, the trend is making its way to eyes and lips.

The effect is spectacularly edgy but doesn't have to be time-consuming to achieve. In lieu of painstakingly applying eye makeup and lipstick around bare patches, you can use the formulas normally. Just lay down tools like striping tape or even carefully cut adhesive tape on the parts of your lids and lips that you'd like to leave bare, apply your makeup, then peel them away to reveal the fresh skin underneath. The design possibilities are endless! Get inspired by some of our favorite masterpieces from Instagram when you read on.

Drew Barrymore's Netflix Comedy Is a Lot Darker and Grislier Than You Think

While going over the upcoming slate of new shows for Netflix, it's pretty easy to skip over Santa Clarita Diet. On the surface, it looks like a fluffy, lighthearted comedy set in suburbia. Upon a second look (complete with telling promotional images), there's much more to the series than meets the . . . eyeball. It turns out, Drew Barrymore is actually playing a zombie, and the "diet" at hand is "pure protein," "totally organic," and "100% flesh." Have we piqued your interest yet? Get the details on the tongue-in-cheek show below.

1. The Cast

The main player is of course Barrymore as Sheila, and Timothy Olyphant is on board as her hunky salt-and-pepper husband, Joel. Other major stars include Ramona Young, whom you might recognize from Man Seeking Woman and The Real O'Neals, and Natalie Morales, who portrayed Lucy on Parks and Recreation. Also, Nathan Fillion is reportedly making a cameo!

2. The Details

According to new details from USA Today, Sheila actually dies at the beginning of the series. "Presumably, she has been exposed to something - although we don't know what - which is making her feel a bit off," creator Victor Fresco revealed. Sheila and her husband must satiate her newfound hunger while keeping her, um, predicament under wraps. They start with raw meat but eventually must move on to human flesh.

3. A Few Extra Tidbits

For Barrymore, this show seems to have come at a perfect time. "My whole personal life was falling apart . . . I don't want to watch a show about a couple fighting and falling apart, I can't handle it right now. It's not heavy, but it's not lacking in a sort of sweetness, if you will. But it's also got bite and backbone and balls." She also called it "a very perfect recipe for 2017" and said "I had no idea in early 2016 when I was trying to figure out if this was even possible that it would be so right for my life . . . I like things that are easy to digest. Pun intended."

The actress also revealed something else: it's not just an average zombie show. "What if she finds herself, and we do this sort of Cro-Magnon type of evolution with her over the course of the 10 episodes. No gimmicks, no prosthetics, just an awakening." Seems like Sheila could have a whole new life experience in addition to her sudden hunger for human meat.

4. The Premiere Date

The show is dropping on Feb. 3, which means we have less than a month until we get to the meat of the show, so to speak. Can your stomach handle it?

This Spot-On Video Basically Shows How "Crazy" We All Are at the Gym

As all of our New Year's resolutions take off and the gym begins to crowd like a local bar on a Friday night, it's time to take a step back and think about how weird working out really is. "Working out is kinda crazy," the video starts. "We talk to ourselves out loud in a repetitive fashion. Climbing stairs, to nowhere. Letting an adult berate you in front of other adults . . . and paying for it."

During a time when getting an elliptical seems harder than scoring Coachella tickets, this spot-on video points out how we drop all of our social skills the second we walk into the gym and turn into barbaric weirdos. Thanks for the good laugh, Samsung, because we've never really thought about how truly strange gym culture is until now.

Frozen's Anna and Elsa Have a Brother . . . And It's Tarzan

Two years ago, the team behind Frozen did an AMA on Reddit, and a comment they made blew the collective minds of Disney fans everywhere. While the theory is old, it has just resurfaced and Twitter is not OK. Basically, the directors casually mentioned that Elsa and Anna's parents did not die on a boat and that their story is much different than what we assume when watching Frozen. Here's the full comment:

This is the beginning of 1999's Tarzan, another Disney film which Frozen codirector Chris Buck (the "Chris" mentioned above) codirected. If this is true, it would mean that Elsa, Anna, and Tarzan come from the same set of parents. The reason this connection is getting brought up now is because of Buck's interview with MTV News in 2015. When asked about the conspiracy theory, Buck said this:

"When you're working on a feature, you have a lot of time to think about stuff because it takes four years to make one. I think Jen [Lee] and I were walking to a meeting, and I just start to tell her the entire story. I said, 'Of course Anna and Elsa's parents didn't die. Yes, there was a shipwreck, but they were at sea a little bit longer than we think they were because the mother was pregnant, and she gave birth on the boat, to a little boy. They get shipwrecked, and somehow they really washed way far away from the Scandinavian waters, and they end up in the jungle. They end up building a tree house and a leopard kills them, so their baby boy is raised by gorillas.' So in my little head, Anna and Elsa's brother is Tarzan - but on the other side of that island are surfing penguins, to tie in a non-Disney movie, Surf's Up. That's my fun little world . . . I say, whatever people want to believe, go for it. If you want to tie them all together, then do it. That's the spirit of Disney."

In case you're wondering, Buck also codirected 2007's Surf's Up. In conclusion, the movies are not officially connected. But in Buck's mind, this little guy is Anna and Elsa's baby brother, and penguins are surfing on the other side of his island! And there you have it.

5 Things Your Fitness Studio Wants to Tell You to Your Face (But Doesn't)

If you've ever worked in a gym or boutique studio, you're more than likely aware that clients can be rude from time to time . . . or completely neglect the rules . . . or come in not smelling eh, awesome. But if you're said client, you might not be aware that you're doing anything wrong! In this new year, let's choose to be better, more polite, more respectful people - especially in the gym or in our fitness classes, where we're already trying to better ourselves with exercise.

We chatted with a boutique fitness studio manager in Los Angeles who shared some secrets, (hilarious) horror stories, and what she wished clients knew before stepping into the studio for a workout. It's pretty direct, but these pieces of advice make sense and create a better environment and experience for everyone involved. Listen up, people!

No Cell Phones (Seriously)

Focus on your workout, and don't disrespect your trainer. It's a good courtesy rule. "If you can't take an hour for class to stop checking how many likes you got on your new fit tea promo, you have bigger problems to deal with - but mostly, it's incredibly rude to the instructor and distracting to other clients."

Please Come Clean

If you smell, you probably don't know it . . . but you're ruining the workout for everyone within a 10 foot radius of you. "Please be mindful of how you smell. While we're jazzed you made it to Saturday morning class after a night of debauchery, don't show up reeking of cheap tequila in your unwashed athleisure . . . it's unpleasant for everyone around you. On the flip side, not everyone wants to suffocate in a cloud of Curious by Britney Spears (and you shouldn't either tbh), so save the perfume for your reluctant Tinder date."

Help Us Help You

"You NEED to tell us about your injuries. You NEED to tell us if you're pregnant. If you're going to bemoan these procedures and blindly sign the release form because you can't be bothered to take 30 seconds to fill out the form correctly, don't act bamboozled when your instructor doesn't provide modifications specifically for you and your needs. We're here to give you the best workout for your body, but we can't do that if you don't let us know before class starts."

Please Don't Be Cheap

We're looking at you, returning vet with a new email account. "It's OK to ask if we have a sale or promo going on, or if you can get a discount on your autopay because you've been a loyal client for 3 years . . . we're all for it. But if you expect to pay $5 per class at a boutique fitness studio, you need to wake up and smell the mat cleaner. Your studio prices their classes according to how they pay their phenomenal instructors, and the fitness hustle is not an easy one. If you want to pay Forever 21 prices for bargain bin 'teachers,' then go for it - but you'll certainly miss us."

The Rules Are There For YOU

"The rules are in place not to annoy you, but for your safety. At the end of the day, you've signed a release and have to use your best judgment when taking care of your own body. But just know that we're judging you for doing a HIIT class in your 'cute AF' yet unsupportive Nike Roshes."

Does Melania Trump Have What It Takes to Master First Lady Style?

Image Source: Getty / JEWEL SAMAD

When I woke up the morning after Election Day to find that Donald Trump would be the next president of the United States, I cried. Then I signed online and covered the latest Instagram trend: DIY crop tops made from an old pair of tights. Then, obviously, I cried some more. I had just witnessed one of the most heartbreaking and important elections in history, at least in my opinion. How did I muster the strength to write about a passing fashion trend on a day like that?

After that, it was admittedly hard to keep working. I talked to my sister, who also felt devastated, and I texted my boyfriend, who is one of those people who, political views aside, always reassures me I am worrying before I need to be. Then Hillary Clinton gave her concession speech wearing a purple-lapeled Ralph Lauren blazer, and instantly, I was inspired to write again. She was most likely wearing that shade because it was a blend of red and blue, the Republican and Democratic parties unifying right there on her outfit.

I don't think that Hillary's pantsuit was more important than the powerful words she spoke, a recognition of defeat but a promise she won't stop fighting for women, minorities, and our nation's progress. I do think that Hillary hammered her point home with that blazer, and in that moment, I felt it my duty to explain why. For the time it took me to crank out that post, my job had purpose again.

Every time I have written about Michelle Obama's dresses, since I began my career as a fashion editor, I have felt a sense of pride. It has been remarkable to track Michelle's style during her time in the White House, watching her thoughtfully support American designers with each appearance.

Image Source: Getty / Chip Somodevilla

I don't think she started to wear Brandon Maxwell (he dressed her for the Singapore state dinner and for the cover of InStyle) because he was Lady Gaga's stylist. I don't think Michelle was trying to resonate with pop culture, but rather to rally behind new art and its artists.

With every outfit choice Michelle makes, she tells a story. Michelle rotates between her favorite London fashion houses when she's in the UK, and she wore a Narciso Rodriguez dress to meet with Melania Trump for the first time. First, because Rodriguez is a Cuban-American designer whose family came to the country before he made a name for himself; an immigrant's success story like those Michelle and the Obama administration have often championed. Second, I'm sure, for its color palette: a purple dress, again marrying blue and red, but with a fiery orange stripe, a blaring, shocking wink: "Melania, can you handle this?"

But Melania can handle this. She has been in the public eye for many years, and when CBS's Lesley Stahl stared her down during the Trump family's 60 Minutes interview, warning her that first ladies have been famously scrutinized and that they must present themselves "with not a hair out of place," Melania didn't bat an eyelash. Throughout the entirety of her husband's campaign, Melania has worn a lineup of sophisticated looks that are nothing short of appropriate. They are what you'd call modern FLOTUS attire: well-tailored, modest, sleek, but with a bold twist thanks to an ultrasaturated color or a trendy sleeve.

Image Source: Getty / DOMINICK REUTER

These pieces got her noticed; these pieces sold out instantly, right after she debuted them. Melania already possesses the allure of a first lady. It might even be more uniquely exciting that Melania is shopping for these looks herself and counts covetable designers like Roksanda, Gucci, and Antonio Berardi as her favorites. Time will tell whether fashion houses begin to dress her (perhaps for the Inaugural Ball), but if they choose not to, I don't think any woman in America, Democrat or Republican, will knock her gown.

What I will miss, ultimately, is a lady like Michelle, and maybe even one like Hillary, who uses her clothes to tell a story or to convey a mood. Throughout her period in the White House, Michelle mixed high and low. She wore a J.Crew studded belt with a long Thom Browne plaid coat because it was fun and it felt right, and she was learning about what she liked.

Once she did, she selected designs that did all the right things: they flattered her figure by showing off her toned arms or they recognized the holiday season with the mixing of two festive colors. They purposefully showed support for certain cultures or countries. Michelle's outfits did not always look perfect. Sometimes her skirt blew up in the wind or she had to fight a hair out of place. But Michelle's outfits were fairly thought out, brave, bold, and irrefutably American. Melania, are you ready?

Excited for Wonder Woman? Brush Up on Her Story From the Comics

The long-awaited film adaptation of DC's Wonder Woman hits theaters on June 2. As the character has been around since the 1940s, the original source material is predictably chock-full of various characters, storylines, and all kinds of other information that can seem intimidating to get through. Don't quite know where to begin? If you want to brush up on your Wonder Woman knowledge before catching the movie this Summer, here are some highlights from the comics.

Origin Story

Wonder Woman's classic origin story is heavily rooted in Greek mythology. She is the daughter of Hippolyta, Queen of an Amazon-occupied island called Themyscria (or, earlier on, Paradise Island). Hippolyta, who wishes for a child, forms her out of clay from the shores. The gods of Olympus then bring the clay to life as Diana and bless her with gifts, such as beauty, strength, wisdom, speed, and flight. Her superhuman abilities assist her in her role as an emissary in Man's World. In the New 52 reboot (DC's 2011 relaunch) and the DC Extended Universe, Diana is not created from clay. Instead, she is the daughter of Hippolyta and Zeus, making her a demigod.

Notable Nemeses

Wonder Woman goes head-to-head with several enemies in the comics. Among the most notorious is Circe, a powerful witch and sorceress who's based on her namesake in Greek mythology. Notably, she sets up the War of the Gods, an epic war between numerous pantheons. Another one of Wonder Woman's well-known adversaries is Cheetah. Several people have donned this title, but the most prominent is possibly Barbara Ann Minerva, an archaeologist who gains an interest in besting Wonder Woman in battle after a failed attempt to take the hero's Lasso of Truth. Wonder Woman has also fought Ares (yes, the God of War), a misogynistic occultist called Doctor Psycho, and the size-manipulating Giganta.

Love Interests

Though Wonder Woman has quite a few love interests over the years, her most notable one is Steve Trevor. He originally debuts as the first man she ever meets, after his plane crashes on her island during World War II. She nurses him back to health, falls in love with him, and easily wins a competition to escort him back to Man's World (aka Earth) and assist in the country's battles. Other iterations of Steve remove his romantic relationship with Wonder Woman, but fans are still very familiar with it. In fact, Chris Pine is playing him in the film. Other than that, Wonder Woman also has trysts with characters including Nemesis, Aquaman, and Superman.

Team Affiliations

Wonder Woman starts off as a member of the Justice Society of America - though she mostly appears as the team's secretary and doesn't get in on the action much until later on. She's more famously a part of the Justice League of America, a superhero team consisting of several heroes like Batman, Superman, Aquaman, and the Flash. The JLA has undergone tons of changes to its origin story, but Wonder Woman is almost always a founding member.

The Gucci Piece to Buy For 2017 Goes With Every Outfit You'll Ever Wear

Think back to the last time you wore a belt. If you can't, same here. It's one of those accessories that gets more wear on the hooks of our closet than around our actual waist. But, that's about to all change when you see the Gucci logo belt. Bloggers are already wearing it, of course, and they just gave us some fresh inspiration on how to style the iconic piece.

You can loop it around the waistband of your jeans with a tucked sweater or use it to cinch in your boho dress. Regardless of how you wear it, the eye-catching, but not flashy, logo provides the right punch to an outfit. Heck, it even looks good with a t-shirt and sneakers. The accessory is such a simple piece that can be magically dressed up or down hundreds of ways, which is why we love it.

We say the Gucci fur loafers had a good run, because the belt is the piece you should invest in for 2017. Read on for some smart style inspo, then add one to your cart.

How This Wacky Product Can Takes Decades Off Your Aging Neck In Seconds

Certain body parts show signs of aging more overtly than others, and one of them is the neck. As the late, great Nora Ephron once wrote, "Our faces are lies and our necks are the truth. You have to cut open a redwood tree to see how old it is, but you wouldn't if it had a neck."

Short of plastic surgery and turtlenecks sweaters, there are seemingly few options to remedy sagging in this area. However, a new brand is revisiting a technique that was used frequently during the golden age of Hollywood: taping.

Nexsey is a clear medical-grade tape that when used correctly, makes an aging neck look totally taut. (It also eliminates double chins.) The technique is simple: after you cleanse and dry the back of your neck, apply one end of a piece to the side of your neck. Then pinch the back of your neck to tighten the skin and temporarily hide wrinkles. Once you do this, carefully secure your work with the rest of the tape strip.

Actress Marlene Dietrich famously used tape to firm up her own face, and more recently, Lady Gaga has been rumored to use the technique to alter her appearance. Watch a video about how it works when you read on, then keep reading to see more examples of it in action.

Beware: These New Walking Dead Pictures Have Grave Implications

This week, we got a cryptic new look at the rest of The Walking Dead's seventh season. In a large handful of photos posted to the show's official Facebook page, we get an up-close look at a bunch of seemingly innocuous objects: a big hole, a bunch of rubber ducks, a handful of peanuts, the list goes on. There is, of course, the chance that AMC is giving us very subtle hints about what's to come, but considering how the show frustratingly tells one story per episode and teased Glenn's dumpster death for weeks, we wouldn't be surprised if this was just some light fun at our expense. Since we have the distinct feeling we're getting trolled, we thought we'd have some of our own fun in trying to "interpret" them.

You'll Soon Be Able to Watch Alexis Bledel on This Brand-New Hulu Series

Alexis Bledel is moving on from Rory Gilmore (not permanently, we hope!) to take on a completely different role in Hulu's adaptation of The Handmaid's Tale. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 35-year-old actress will play Ofglen, a handmaid, in the 10-part drama set in a fictional place called Gilead, where, under a totalitarian government, fertile women are sent to rich families to help them procreate.

If you're wondering why you're just now hearing about this series, Hulu actually had to wait until Alexis's Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life contract expired with Netflix to make the announcement. The interesting storyline will make its debut on the popular streaming service on April 26, and considering Alexis is slated to appear in most of the episodes alongside her fellow Mad Men costar Elisabeth Moss, we can't wait to see even more talented acting.

Elisabeth teased the exciting performance to come, telling THR: "[Alexis] has this incredible fragility and vulnerability to her, but there is another side - a strength and a toughness to her, that some people maybe haven't seen . . . Obviously it doesn't hurt that she's a friend of mine." Wow! Is it April 26 yet?
