Negative space has long been a technique utilized in eye-popping nail art designs. It's characterized by leaving the bare nail visible in certain areas and, depending how it's executed, can result in a minimalist, cheeky, or even sensual result. Now, the trend is making its way to eyes and lips.
The effect is spectacularly edgy but doesn't have to be time-consuming to achieve. In lieu of painstakingly applying eye makeup and lipstick around bare patches, you can use the formulas normally. Just lay down tools like striping tape or even carefully cut adhesive tape on the parts of your lids and lips that you'd like to leave bare, apply your makeup, then peel them away to reveal the fresh skin underneath.
