8 Major Things You Can Expect to See in Fifty Shades Darker
It feels like it's been forever since Fifty Shades of Grey hit theaters, leaving a massive hole in our lives because we didn't get to see Christian Grey chase after Anastasia Steele after she shouted "No!" before those elevator doors closed. And with days to go until the franchise's second installment, Fifty Shades Darker, comes out, that satisfying feeling of seeing Jamie Dornan on the big screen again is getting closer by the hour. While the first movie just scratched the surface of the complex emotions behind Christian's beautiful eyes (and controlling behavior), Darker will give new meaning to the phrase, "What the actual f*ck." We've already seen tons of steamy set photos and trailers, but just in case you need more to satisfy your "nonvanilla" craving until then, here are eight major things that you expect to see in Darker.
1. Ana and Christian's lives fall apart without each other. While the end of Fifty Shades of Grey left fans (who didn't read the books) with a bit of hope that Christian might stop the elevator and make things right again, that's not at all what happens. Ana and Christian don't speak for days after she leaves, which causes both of their lives to slightly unravel. Ana starts her new job as a personal assistant to Jack Hyde, a big-time book publisher, but her grief causes her to stop eating, lose weight, and not properly function in everyday life.
2. They then get back together. After Ana and Christian both attend a photo gallery exhibit for her friend José (the one that has a massive crush on her), they kiss in an alleyway and pick up right where they left off.
3. Christian screws with Ana's career. Throughout their romance, Ana insists that she wants to make her own way in the publishing word without relying on Christian or his money. So when he buys the company that she currently works for because he doesn't trust Jack (he also freezes the company's accounts so Ana and Jack can't go on a business trip together), Ana is furious.
4. Christian's instincts about Jack turn out to be spot on. It becomes clear very quickly that Jack is an inappropriate and dangerous boss. In addition to continuously asking Ana out for after-work drinks and making her uncomfortable by invading her personal space, he also ends up cornering her in their office one night to try and blackmail her. He presents her with her personal emails with Christian that she sent on her work computer and threatens to expose her if she doesn't give him sexual favors. He then assaults her before she manages to escape. Christian has him fired and confiscates his work computer.
5. We finally meet "Mrs. Robinson." Elena Lincoln, who will be played by Kim Basinger, comes face to face with Ana when they all attend a masquerade ball at the Grey's house together. When Elena finally realizes that Christian is in love with Ana and doesn't see her as just a submissive, she becomes short with Ana and tries to sabotage their romance out of jealousy.
6. A dangerous stalker is thrown into the mix. While Jack presents his own problems for Ana, it's one of Christian's former submissives, Leila Williams (played by Bella Heathcote), that really takes things up a notch in Darker. After Leila's boyfriend dies in a car crash, she has a mental breakdown and becomes obsessed with Ana and her former relationship with Christian. She begins to stalk Ana and eventually breaks into her apartment and threatens her at gunpoint. Christian shows up and talks her down, but the whole situation has Ana worried that Christian won't be satisfied with their "vanilla" relationship.
7. Christian proposes to Ana. When Christian fears Ana may be leaving him again, he quickly proposes to her. She says she needs time to think about it and he leaves on a business trip in his helicopter, Charlie Tango. The helicopter then disappears from radar and Christian is missing for several hours, but when he returns to his apartment safely, he tells his family that both the helicopter's engines failed and he thinks someone was trying to kill him. Because Ana thought he had died, she realizes she wants to be with him forever and accepts his proposal.
8. Jack Hyde is not done. After Ana accepts Christian's proposal, his family throws him a party for his 28th birthday at their home. Jack, however, is watching the entire thing from outside, and in addition to revealing he sabotaged the helicopter, he also swears revenge on Christian because they are connected in more ways than one.

Most people know that they're the good guys who use the Force and might even know who some important Jedi are. The Force
A Jedi is someone who is Force-sensitive, but what is the Force? According to Obi-Wan Kenobi, it's "an energy field created by all living things . . . It binds the galaxy together." Force-users have access to several extraordinary abilities, such as telekinesis, precognition, and persuasion (more famously known as a Jedi mind trick). In order to master their powers, Force-users undergo training. One organization that provides such training is the Jedi Order.
The Jedi Order
The Jedi Order is a diplomatic organization of Force-users who, before the Galactic Empire's takeover, keep peace in the Galactic Republic. They follow the light side of the Force, which is meant to be used for defense and knowledge rather than aggression. In contrast, their mortal enemies called the Sith look to the dark side for their power. The governmental center of the Jedi Order is the Jedi Temple on the planet Coruscant. There, the Jedi High Council rule the organization, and Force-users can train to harness their abilities and earn the Jedi title.
Jedi Ranks
In addition to the 12-member Jedi High Council, there are several different ranks among the Jedi Order.
- Youngling: A youngling is a young, Force-sensitive child undergoing Jedi training. There's an age limit to this training, though, as Anakin Skywalker was initially deemed too old to train despite being just 9 years old when presented to the Jedi High Council.
- Padawan: When a Jedi Knight or Master chooses a youngling to train and acts as their mentor, the trainee is called a Padawan. Obi-Wan, for example, was Qui-Gon Jinn's Padawan.
- Knight: After a Padawan is deemed worthy of moving up in the ranks, he or she becomes a Knight. Knighthood is traditionally determined by the successful completion of a series of challenges known as the Jedi Trials. However, some Jedi Knights achieve their titles through grand actions, like Anakin's display of valor during the Clone Wars.
- Master: A Jedi Knight becomes a Jedi Master after his or her Padawan rises to the Knight rank. Knights can also become Masters if their skill, wisdom, and commitment to the Force lead to an offer of a Jedi High Council seat.
- Grand Master: The Jedi Grand Master is the leader of the Jedi High Council. The title is given to the oldest and wisest member of the Jedi Order. Before the destruction of the Jedi Order, Yoda has this title.
The Future of the Jedi
The Jedi Order meets a grim fate at the end of the Clone Wars, and eventually, Luke Skywalker is the last known living Jedi. He tries to train a new generation, but his efforts fail. If more Jedi do come into the fray, will the old traditions still stay the same? Jedi will most likely always be Force-sensitive individuals who follow the light side of the Force. With the ancient Order destroyed, though, maybe some new rules will apply.
Set Your Alarms! A Full Moon, Comet, AND Lunar Eclipse Will All Appear This Weekend
Dust off those telescopes, because three breathtaking astronomical events will occur on the same evening this upcoming weekend. From the evening of Feb. 10 into the morning of Feb. 11, space observers will be treated to quite the stunning show, as a snow moon, lunar eclipse, and New Year comet will simultaneously light up the sky.
Each of these occurrences is individually awe-inspiring, but all three together? We can hardly contain our excitement. To fully understand this phenomenon, we're breaking down what each of these celestial events entails.
- Snow moon: This is basically a fancy term for February's full moon. The name derives from the fact that February is usually the month that sees the highest average snowfall in a year. The snow moon will rise at 4:44 p.m. on Friday and set at 7:30 a.m., and it shouldn't be too hard to spot it in the sky.
- New Year comet: Named because it began moving across the sky at the tail end of 2016, the New Year comet is set to shoot across the sky on Feb. 11. This comet is only visible every five and a quarter years, so the fact that it just so happens to arrive this weekend is pretty darn cool.
- Lunar eclipse: Not to be confused with a solar eclipse, lunar eclipses occur when the sun, Earth, and moon line up. When the Earth aligns in front of the sun, the moon is covered in a shadow, which makes it appear red. Anyone in Europe, Africa, and most of Asia and North America will be able to view this somewhat eerie yet stunning event. The shadow will be mostly visible from 12:43 a.m. until 2:52 p.m., according to Metro.

La La Land: Is That Really Ryan Gosling Playing the Piano?!
La La Land is the most enchanting movie of 2016, but besides the singing and dancing, one particular element will dazzle you: Ryan Gosling's piano skills. He plays a struggling jazz purist in the film, and there are some musical scenes that may cause you to wonder if it's really Gosling playing or a body double. Shocking as it may be, it's definitely Gosling playing the whole time!
"In fact, there's not a single close-up shot of [the character] Sebastian's hands in the entire movie that's a piano double," director Damien Chazelle said at a press event for the movie. "It's all Ryan." Even John Legend, who has a smaller part in the film, was impressed: "I was jealous, man," he said. "Watching him play, I was like, 'Wow, this guy is really good and he just learned this in the last few months.' It's pretty amazing."
According to Gosling, it took him three months of lessons to learn to play jazz piano: "The director wanted to shoot all those sequences in one take so there was no opportunity to squeeze in, or sneak in, a proper piano player." How is one person this talented?

11 Details We Have About the Stranger Things Season 2

If you watched and loved Netflix's new sci-fi megahit Stranger Things, we've got good news and bad news. The good news is that Netflix has confirmed that there will be a second season and released two short teasers that give a few clues about what's next. The bad news is that the Duffer Brothers, who created the show, also pretty much confirmed the tragic fate of Barb, the darling outcast whom countless viewers fell in love with despite her not-so-ample screen time. This latest information comes from a new interview with IGN, in which the Duffer brothers drop the first hints about the second season and explain the situation with Barb. If anything, it might make the wait for the next season a bit more bearable . . . but if you need more ideas for passing the time, you could always plan your Stranger Things Halloween costume or listen to that '80s-tastic soundtrack hundreds of times. Check out what we know so far below.
- Eleven will be back: Though her fate was questionable at the end of the first season, Millie Bobby Brown is returning as Eleven. Whether she'll still foster an obsession with waffles is questionable.
- There will be new faces: Producer Shawn Levy spoke to SlashFilm about the fate of season two, and what they hope to accomplish. "We definitely are hopeful to go several more seasons. And the plan is to continue with this set of characters while introducing a few critical key new ones next season," he said. "So I'll just say that a lot of the big mysteries get answered at the end of season one, but we are very much kind of unearthing new problems and questions that merit future stories and future investigation in the most enjoyable way. So we are in love with our cast and our characters."
- Brenner will likely be back: Matt Duffer said, "I would say that if we were going to kill Brenner . . . as an audience member watching the show, if that was his death, that would be very unsatisfying to me, when the monster jumps on him and we cut away. He would deserve much more than that as an ending. So yes, there's a possibility of seeing him again."
- A few new characters have been announced! According to THR, three new characters have joined the fold. There's Max, a "tough and confident 13-year-old female whose appearance, behavior and pursuits are more typical of boys than of girls in the era." She's great with a skateboard. There's Billy, a "supermuscular, overconfident 17-year-old. He's so captivating and edgy that there are rumors flying around that he killed someone at a school he attended in the past." And finally, there's Roman, a "male or a female of any ethnicity between the ages of 30 and 38." This is interesting. Very interesting.

- New characters have been cast: In October, two new casting additions were announced. Dacre Montgomery, pictured here, will play Billy, and Sadie Sink will play Max. Both of the characters have been listed above as newcomers in Hawkins.
- Matt Duffer on whether Barb will be in season two: "I can't see it happening . . . but Barb will not be forgotten. We'll make sure there's some justice for Barb. People get very frustrated, understandably, that the town doesn't seem to be really dealing with Barb. That stuff is all happening. We're just not spending any screen time on it."
- On what else season two would tackle: "Part of what we want to do with hypothetical season two is to explore the repercussions of everything that happened."
- More nitty-gritty details: It will be set in 1984 (picking up sometime in the Fall, which is about a year after the events in season one) and consist of nine episodes.
- The premiere date: According to a teaser that ran during the Super Bowl, season two will premiere on Halloween!
- The first season two teaser: Clocking in at just under a minute long, the short video doesn't give us much. What it does do, though, is reveal the names of each episode in the new season: "Mad Max," "The Boy Who Came Back to Life," "The Pumpkin Patch," "The Palace," "The Storm," "The Pollywog," "The Secret Cabin," "The Brain," and "The Lost Brother."

This Photo Shows the Impact a Dedicated Teacher Can Have on a Struggling Student
Brittney Salway is a first grade teacher who understands that her responsibility to her students doesn't end when she steps outside of the classroom.
As a teacher, it is her and her colleagues' responsibilities to give their all to their students, and sometimes that involves going above and beyond their job descriptions. To prove this, Brittney shared a snapshot of a fellow teacher sitting on the floor with a student who was struggling. "Sometimes teaching is sitting down in the middle of the hallway with a kid who is having a rough time and having a heart to heart. What a beautiful moment," Brittney shared on Frank Somerville's Facebook page.
According to Brittney, the child in the photo has been having a hard time since coming back to school after Winter break. Although he has been acting out in class, his teacher hasn't given up on trying to reach him. "Mr. Bailey figured he may need more of a father figure to help figure out what was wrong," Brittney explained.
For Brittney, this is just another example of a teacher doing his job, but she still decided to take a quick snapshot to capture this meaningful interaction. "I didn't hear much of the conversation, just that the student was being picked on at school and that the teacher was trying to lift the kid's spirits up and help him out of the situation," Brittney wrote.
Even without knowing the exact words of their conversation, this photo says everything we need to know about the power of a dedicated teacher.
This Insane Watermelon Skinning Trick Will Make Your Jaw Drop

Everything We Know About American Crime Story Season 2

If you got sucked into the crazy world of American Crime Story last year, we have good news. The show has already lined up quite a few stories for future seasons. In addition to plenty of season two details, we already know season three will focus on the Versace murder, and season four will hone in on the Clinton/Lewinsky scandal. (And before you ask, we've already got some dream casting for the latter.) Before we get too far ahead of ourselves, though, let's dial it back to season one's follow-up. Where will we be going after the O.J. Simpson case? We've scrounged up all the details we could find, and we've got good news and bad news.
1. The Story
The second season of American Crime Story will focus on Hurricane Katrina and the aftermath of its devastation in New Orleans. "We just started the writers' room to really explore Katrina as a crime and the crimes within it," executive producer Nina Jacobson revealed in April 2016.
2. The Themes
While Hurricane Katrina may not exactly focus on a high-profile criminal case, those working on the project insist it will carry the same themes as season one. More specifically, it will anchor the audience in characters as a way of making the experience more visceral. "Obviously that is our job on Katrina," executive producer Jacobson said, "is to take an event that people think that they know and to give them fresh eyes to see it from the perspective of character."

3. The Big Difference
We all knew the outcome of the O.J. Simpson case going into season one, but season two will be a bit harder to predict. "Katrina will be very different in that you won't know the outcome," executive producer Brad Simpson explained in an interview. "Who lives, who dies, it's all going to be true stories."
4. The Cast
Not a lot has been revealed when it comes to the cast. Of course, Ryan Murphy confirmed that his muse Sarah Paulson would return for a second round. Ad for the other members of the People v. O.J. Simpson cast, both Courtney B. Vance and John Travolta have expressed interest in coming back. Official casting announcements on all three actors have yet to be made.
As for confirmed news, Annette Bening has been added to the cast as Louisiana governor Kathleen Blanco. How exciting that Ryan Murphy is adding another huge actress to his TV family!
5. The Premiere
Here's the bad news: American Crime Story won't be back until 2018. FX Networks CEO John Landgraf confirmed the news at this year's Winter Television Critics' Association press tour. He did reassure fans, though, that season three would follow quickly thereafter.

Taylor Kinney Was at the Super Bowl to Watch Lady Gaga, and Wow, Our Hearts
Lady Gaga gave a stunning, nostalgia-inducing performance during the Super Bowl Halftime Show on Sunday, and in addition to having her best friends and parents in the audience - she even stopped during her set to say hi to them - her ex-fiancé, Taylor Kinney, was also in the stands on her big night. Taylor was spotted hanging with fellow actors Zachary Levi and David Walton in the stands and popped up in a photo that made the rounds on Twitter. Though Gaga and the Chicago Fire star went their separate ways in July 2016 after five years together, she has since called him her "best friend" and confirmed that he was the inspiration for her hit single "Perfect Illusion." It comes as no surprise, then, that Taylor would support his former flame through such a huge accomplishment, and we really love it.
Gaga explained their split in a heartfelt Instagram snap at the time, saying, "Taylor and I have always believed we are soulmates. Just like all couples we have ups and downs, and we have been taking a break. We are both ambitious artists, hoping to work through long-distance and complicated schedules to continue the simple love we have always shared." She added: "Please root us on. We're just like everybody else and we really love each other." We're holding out hope that their break will come to an end and this latest show of affection definitely helps.
