You've Never Seen Anything Like This Italian Villa Where Old Hollywood Used to Let Loose
When it was first constructed in the 1500s, the Villa d'Este on Lake Como served as a resort for ecclesiastical leaders and local politicians. A few renovations and centuries later, the palatial complex hosted glamorous celebrities and was even the site of an infamous murder.
Though the villa started out as a sort of spiritual resort center, it became a private residence in 1815 when Caroline of Brunswick moved in shortly after separating from King George IV. Decades after her death, the villa became a proper hotel open to the public . . . the very wealthy public, that is. During the Golden Age of Hollywood, celebrities like Bette Davis and Clark Gable vacationed there. Alfred Hitchcock was particularly fond of the villa and visited many times throughout his lifetime.
Around this same time, a notorious murder took place inside of the villa. In 1948, Pia Bellentani shot her lover Carlo Sacchi after he had continued to see other women. The murder took place right after a fashion show that was being held at the villa that evening. Despite the grisly incident, the Villa d'Este continued being an aspirational travel destination and still hosts many celebrities and fashion insiders.
A night's stay does not come cheap: a room can cost anywhere from $1,000 to $5,000. According to many reviews on Trip Advisor, however, tourists can still stop by the villa for a lakeside lunch or a walk through the gardens.
Ahead, you'll find pictures of the timeless and over-the-top estate.
YouTubers Will Be Batsh*t Obsessed With This Genius Blending Sponge
Yes, you love your beauty-blending sponge, but it has some issues. Maybe it gets dirty too quickly or doesn't diffuse your makeup well - be it a sponge or silicone version. Ena Vehabovic, an engineer and previous Miss Word Canada finalist, saw some of these problems and decided to create her own iteration, dubbed the Enavee.
While the Enavee is not available yet, you can support it by donating to its Kickstarter campaign. Here's why you should: the Enavee is basically the love child of the Beautyblender and the Evie Blender. It is a soft, platinum-grade silicone with a unique pinch tip that keeps bacteria from your fingers off of the sponge (genius).
The texture of silicone is soft enough to mimic that of a sponge. There is also a pointed tip at the end for the under-eye and nose areas. It's really a combination of the best qualities of top-rated blending sponges.
We predict if this little guy gets made that YouTubers (and us regular folks) will absolutely love it. Just watch it in action in the video below!
Michelle Obama Just Got Officially Sworn In - by J.Crew
Michelle Obama left the White House, and so many of us felt unprepared. Especially the fashion crowd - American designers who have gained recognition and respect thanks to their relationship with her. Michelle has always kept fashion at the forefront, taking her outfit into consideration as she plans each of her appearances. When it comes to debuting a new look, Michelle makes sure there's a message behind her style choice, a strong tie to location or culture, and an acknowledgment of talent.
WWD invited American designers to write letters to Michelle, thanking her for the opportunities she's given them and the way she has inspired them during the past eight years. We couldn't help but call out one in particular. Jenna Lyons, formerly of J.Crew, mastered the task, choosing to list off Michelle's greatest attributes, all of which she embodied every time she wore the brand. Scroll to read the note for yourself, then reminisce about Michelle's most iconic moments in J.Crew, when it became clear she knows exactly how to mix preppy pieces with spunky ones, always keeping sophistication in mind.
The 1 Makeup Tip That Totally Changed My Beauty Routine
Listen, I don't want to sound too over-the-top about this, but I'm honestly not sure how I lived before I embraced makeup-setting spray. A refreshing mist? A full face of makeup that actually lasts? The product's promises seemed too good to be true. (Spoiler alert: they weren't.)
It all started when I learned that I'd be doing my own makeup as a bridesmaid in my best friend's wedding. I've cried during literally every wedding ceremony I've ever attended, so I panicked at the thought of standing at the sunny altar beside my best friend, mascara and concealer dripping down my face, all runny makeup and bloodshot raccoon eyes. Not helping matters at all? I was also pregnant, which meant I was perpetually hot (see: red, sweaty forehead) and even more emotional than usual. Yikes.
Enter our beauty editors, who recommended a few waterproof eyeliners and suggested that I try a setting spray. Until then, I'd only used setting sprays on a handful of occasions, once when I had my makeup done plus a few times in college when a friend shared her spray before going out. I'd thought of it as a product for "real" beauty girls - people who used foundation and highlighter and who knew how to apply liquid eyeliner. I am not one of those people, and with my simpler routine, setting spray didn't feel worth it.
My turn as a pregnant bridesmaid felt like the right time to try it, though - I was going to need all the help I could get - so I combed through our list of the best setting sprays to find one that might suit me. I have incredibly sensitive skin that became even more sensitive during pregnancy, so after reading some reviews and checking ingredient lists, I purchased Urban Decay's All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray ($31), which is free of oils and parabens.
Here's where I tell you that I don't typically get makeup-related compliments. I'm a concealer, mascara, and simple eyeliner kind of girl, and by the end of the day, my eyeliner is slightly smudged and the concealer has usually faded.
But damn if my makeup didn't stay put (and somehow look brighter?) during that wedding. It gave me a glowy look that usually escapes me thanks to my powder bronzer, and I didn't need to reapply mascara or eyeliner like I typically do. Even after hours in the sun and on the dance floor, plus a handful of tears during the ceremony, my drugstore makeup held up. It felt like a true pregnancy miracle.
The real miracle worker at play, of course, was the setting spray, which I now use nearly every weekend. A daytime BBQ? Sweat isn't a problem. All-night dance party? I leave looking almost the same as when I arrived.
So, OK, it may not change your life, but it will definitely up your makeup game.
How to Get the Signature J.Crew Look Jenna Lyons Made Famous
A signature J.Crew outfit - complete with a shirt, sweater, coat, trousers, and shoes - is carefully considered, but appears effortless. That's what's so intriguing about the brand's signature styling: there's a method to the "polished madness." In order to strike that perfect balance you see on the mannequins when you walk in the store or on the company's Instagram page, you've got to be open to trial and error.
We talked to J.Crew's head stylist, Gayle Spannaus, who painted a very pretty picture for us when we asked her about the look. "I always like to start with a classic white shirt, a stripe, and a piece of denim. Those are the building blocks!" So what comes next? Mixing. "It's tom girl style, mixing high with low, feminine with masculine, and trendy with evergreen. We always say 'the magic is in the mix,'" Gayle explained.
All it takes is throwing on, say, a splashy pattern with stripes and a ruffled skirt, then seeing how it all comes together. Too many colors? Break them up with a neutral tailored coat. Too simple? Tie a bright cardigan around the waist of your jeans. Read on for even more inspired tips, and shop some J.Crew separates while you're at it to help you achieve the highly coveted look that former Creative Director Jenna Lyons made famous.
Britney Spears Gets Backstreet Boys’s Howie Dorough on All Fours During Her Vegas Show
Britney Spears might have dated a member of *NSYNC, but on Sunday she got up close and personal with one of the Backstreet Boys. During her Las Vegas Piece of Me concert, the 35-year-old superstar invited Howie Dorough on stage for a provocative performance of "Freakshow," and things got steamy. Howie, fresh off of his performance at the ACM Awards, happily crawled around on all fours while Britney whipped him. "Thank you so much for coming out here and dancing with us," Britney said before signing a t-shirt for him. "Thank you. Bye, baby. Everyone give it up for Howie!"
The Backstreet Boys are currently headlining their own Vegas residency, which makes it easy for them to pop by Britney's show. In February, A.J. McLean hung out with her backstage and had nothing but good things to say about her performance. "Her body's back! She looks fantastic! Britney's back, man," he said. "She's doing fantastic, dude. She was on her A game. She looked good, she sounded good, [and] she was killing it dancing."
Put Your Pitchforks Away: There WILL Be Music in the Mulan Remake
Disney is remaking its 1998 animated hit Mulan into a live-action film in the vein of Beauty and the Beast, and recently director Niki Caro caused quite a stir by saying that the upcoming version will not be a musical: "From what I understand, no songs right now, much to the horror of my children." Panic broke out across the planet, and Caro has now clarified her comments. "The live-action is based on that inspirational Chinese ballad and on the animated Disney classic," she told The Hollywood Reporter. "We're still exploring the role that music's going to play in it, but for sure there will be music."
That's what we thought, Disney.

You Can Buy Tyra Banks's Outrageous NYC Castle in the Sky For $17.5 Million
Image Source: Mark Metcalfe/Getty, Adam Modlin via The Modlin Group
The entire cast from every season of America's Top Model could fit into Tyra Banks's palatial NYC duplex. Tyra reportedly scooped up four adjacent apartments in the swanky Riverhouse building in Battery Park (Leonardo DiCaprio is also a resident) at a total cost of just over $10 million. She then went on to spend nearly as much combining the units into a single superduplex fit for her supermodel status with five bedrooms, eight baths, and around 7,000 square feet of living space. In 2015, after work took the model-turned-TV-personality-turned entrepreneur to the West Coast, she leased the property out as a furnished rental to the tune of $50,000 a month. But it looks like Tyra's deep-pocketed tenants have moved out, as she's just put the property back on the market for either rent or sale at a cool $17.5 million. The lucky new renter or owner will get to enjoy every over-the-top luxury imaginable, from a massive dressing room, private hair salon, and en suite minibar to a separate staff kitchen and living quarters. Take a look at all the duplex's decadent details in the following pictures.

Mom's Reaction to Her Girl's "Bad" Grade Is What Every Kid Needs
I told my mom I failed my math test and this was her response :') http://pic.twitter.com/BYGuVVEyWr
- hannah (@imhannahcho) March 16, 2017
For Hannah Cho, the grade she got on her math test mattered. If she got an A on it, the teen would have a perfect 4.0 GPA, a goal she was working extremely hard to achieve.
Hannah put in the time and studied all day and night for this exam, so when she found out that she got a B, it felt the same as a failing grade would to most students. Instead of celebrating her hard-earned score, the teen sent a photo of the test to her mom via Snapchat and made her disappointment clear.
Hannah's mom agreed that her daughter had a lot to learn, but not when it comes to math. Hannah shared the response she received from her mom on Twitter in March and the unexpected message is still going viral.
"I don't care if you fail your math test, I don't care if you get below 1,000 on your SAT, I don't care if your GPA is under 2.00, I don't care if you get accepted to Sanford," her mom wrote. "I care if you cry, I care if you are stressed, I care if you are unhappy."
Instead of adding even more pressure to her already stressed-out daughter, this mom is showing Hannah that numbers and grades don't define her. Plus, her mom has a pretty great sense of humor and made sure to add a joke at her daughter's expense: she also cares when Hannah gets hungry - even if she gets hungry every two hours. "I admit it can get tiring feeding you constantly, but I love you."

What Flamingo-Pink Eye Shadow Looks Like on Different Skin Tones
Hot pink is no longer a color to save for your lips and nails. This Summer, "flamingo pink" - as we've dubbed it - is going to be the shade you'll see on everyone's eyes. It's already popping up in tutorials from major YouTubers like Nikkitutorials and James Charles.
"As part of the blush bomb trend, neon pink has traveled from the cheeks to the eyes - think Lea Michele at the 2017 Grammys and Sophia Bush at the 2017 SAG Awards," said Kelli Bartlett, director of makeup artistry at GlamSquad. "The result is both electric and dreamy at the same time. We also saw the trend on the runway, so neon pink eyes are definitely having a moment."
When searching for your perfect shade, keep this in mind. "There is a wide range of pinks that can be worn on the eye, from neon pink to blushing berry," she said. "Pink shadow is especially complimentary on green and blue eyes. Darker skin tones should choose richer colors to ensure they pop."
Try Bartlett's picks: the shades Venetian Red and Love Letter from the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Eyeshadow Palette. She also recommends priming the eye before applying pink shadow to prevent the pigmented hue from staining the skin. For this, MAC Paint Pots are your best friend.
That said, there are rules for what to avoid. "The trend focuses on more vibrant pinks so stay away from anything too icy or precious, like baby pink," she explained. "Dialing up the drama with a rich pink hue is the way to go. Making sure the saturation is even and blended is the key to looking chic. For those who are nervous to rock the pink eye, focus on a wash of color on the brow bone to ease you into the trend. When in doubt, wear matching blush, eye, and lip color."
Keep reading to see how stunning flamingo pink looks on different skin tones!
The Designer of Melania Trump's Official Portrait Look Is Quite Pleased
There are many style differences between Melania Trump and former First Lady Michelle Obama, but Melania makes that no more clear than in her her first official portrait, which was just released by the White House along with the following statement: "I am honored to serve in the role of First Lady, and look forward to working on behalf of the American people over the coming years."
While some Twitter commenters are calling out her 13-carat engagement ring, we are more focused on the detailing of her Dolce & Gabbana blazer. Melania nixed classic jewelry - Michelle Obama famously wore strands of pearls for both her portraits - for an embellished neck tie covered in sequins. The style update is notable and frankly pretty unmissable though Melania's outfit is black. (No one ignored the sleeveless silhouette of Michelle's LBD in 2009 either.)
Despite past scrutiny about first lady fashion choices, many people are noting that Nancy Reagan wore a pussy bow blouse in her signature red in 1981, a silhouette that Melania seems to favor that can even be considered modest. At the end of the day, Melania's neckerchief offers a glittering wink to remind us of her ties to the fashion industry. After all, it's certainly garnering plenty of comments (both positive and negative) on Stefano Gabbana's Instagram tribute, thanking Melania for choosing one of his looks.

Parents Share Heartbreaking Warning About Their Girl's Deadly Decision
After Gwen and Terry Zwanziger's otherwise healthy teenage daughter died from a simple case of the flu, they are speaking out to warn other parents.
It's been more than 836 days since Shannon's death, but for her mom, the situation is still just as scary as ever. When Shannon came to her with a sore throat and a low fever, Gwen wasn't alarmed and now two years later, she can only hope her daughter knows how sorry she is for not fighting her.
At 17 years old, Shannon didn't want to get the flu vaccine and now her mom is left dealing with the guilt of not insisting on it. "If I had pushed her into getting a flu shot, then I wouldn't have the guilt about 'what if,'" Gwen told CNN. "What if the vaccine had given her a little extra control over the invasion? That's what the vaccine should do. While you can still get the flu even if you've had a flu shot, it can reduce the risk of serious illness and complications."
This Mom Has a Powerful Message About Vaccinations After Her 12-Year-Old Daughter Died From the Flu
But instead, Shannon came home from school complaining that a classmate gave her the flu. So Gwen sent her to her room with an array of fluids and medicine. When Shannon didn't seem to be improving a few days later, her dad took her to a clinic while her mom stayed back to clean her room and change her sheets. "Terry sent me a picture of Shannon sitting in a wheelchair with a mask on, leaning her head on his shoulder," Gwen said. "That's the last picture we have of her."
The doctor advised that they just "let it run its course," but 36 hours later Shannon came downstairs and asked for help taking a bath. By this point her mom was "sweating in fear" because she hadn't helped her daughter bathe since she was a small child. "Something was horribly wrong. When she leaned back in the tub and I saw her eyes, I knew she was dying," she said. "I got behind her and lifted her out. I sat on the toilet with her sitting on my lap and she died. There was nothing that could be done to save her."
Despite Her Parents Thinking She Was Fully Vaccinated, This Little Girl Almost Died From Meningitis
Gwen explained that the flu destroyed her daughter's organs without her even knowing it and there was nothing that could be done to revive her.
Please take the flu seriously. Keep your loved ones home if you even think they might be sick. Or else you might live wondering if a classmate died because your child brought that strain into the classroom.
Please take action. If we do nothing, then we are all to blame. And believe me, guilt will change your life.
I was just a regular mom of a regular kid. Now I'm a shell of the person I was. And the world will never see what Shannon could have become.

Curbless Glass Shower Enclosure
"If you want your bathroom to feel more open, there's one sure-fire way to do it. Install a glass shower enclosure. It's way more luxurious than a shower curtain, and it removes the visual obstruction," said Scott. "In addition, I also designed the shower to be curbless, which has a significant impact. It opens up the sight lines and, when combined with the frameless glass, makes this small room feel huge."
Makeshift Steam Shower
"Within the glass shower enclosure, I added a special feature. The glass goes all the way to the ceiling and has a vent at the top that can be opened and closed. So if you feel like indulging in a steam shower, you can close the vent and allow steam to gather, and when you want a regular shower, you can open it up and allow the steam to escape," Scott explained. "Steam generators can be very pricey, but this solution allows you to get a similar experience at a fraction of the price." And don't forget that if you're creating a steam shower, you'll want to tile the ceiling so it's properly waterproofed.
Shower Bench
"No decent steam shower can be without a bench," said Scott. "To up the luxury factor, I installed a custom bench directly in the shower and tiled it to match the rest of the space. While you can bring in another type of waterproof bench, nothing looks as good as a custom built-in unit." Scott also added a built-in tile niche to hold toiletries, such as shampoo and soap.
Handheld and Rain Shower Head Options
"This bathroom is all about indulgence so I added both rain and handheld shower options. Rain showers provide full coverage when you stand underneath, so every inch of you gets to enjoy the sensation. It would be silly to have a spa bathroom and not include one. But that said, sometimes you need to wash and go so I included the handheld option for the ultimate in convenience," said Scott.
Heated Floors
No luxurious space is complete without heated floors! Scott explained, "the worst thing would be to step out of a great steam shower only to put your feet down on an icy floor. While heated floors can be expensive to install in an existing room, it's well worth considering when you're going through a renovation."
Vanity Storage
"Nothing kills serenity like clutter," declared Scott. "To avoid the problem of bottles, jars, and toothbrush holders taking over the space, I installed a large vanity with plenty of storage. Above it I hung a nice big mirror that reflects light along with two hanging pendants." As a pro tip, Scott added that you should never install lights over a mirror in a bathroom because it will cast unflattering shadows on the face.
Wentworth Miller's Mental Health Struggles Made Him "Stronger as an Artist"
There are plenty of questions surrounding the return of Prison Break more than seven years later, so when Wentworth Miller sat down with POPSUGAR and other press outlets at WonderCon, the conversation naturally started at the reboot's plot. But when talk turned to how Miller's character, Michael Scofield, has changed as a man, things circled back to the actor's personal experiences.
Miller, who came out as gay in 2013, has publicly addressed his struggle with depression and suicidal thoughts in recent years, combating critics of physical appearance by discussing how mental health struggles affected his weight. When asked whether his advocacy for mental health has affected his approach to his Prison Break character, Miller told reporters:
"It informs my everyday experience and informs me as a performer for sure. I've walked a long road, and I've seen and experienced a lot of things. One of the gifts of being where I am now, where I can talk openly about being queer, about having mental health issues . . . it means that I can walk on set and instead of playing multiple parts, like 'the guy who has it all together' while I'm playing Michael Scofield, I can just focus on Michael Scofield, and it's made me stronger as an artist."
According to Miller, there's no denying that his own experiences and personal growth have affected his Prison Break counterpart, and he's happy about it. "Michael Scofield is in me; he's never going to go away," Miller said. "But I have changed as a man, 10 years older than when we started the original series. So when I put those shoes on, the shoes may be the same, but the man standing in them is different."
His openness is an inspiration, and we can't wait to see the new depth brought to the show through Miller's positive personal growth and newfound happiness in his own skin.

Veronica Mars May Be Returning - but Not in the Way You Think
Don't get overexcited (or prematurely angry), but Rob Thomas may be bringing Veronica Mars back. The creator did a Facebook Live session on Monday, and he mentioned that there probably won't be a sequel to the 2014 movie . . . but he's playing around with the idea of a six-episode miniseries. There's just one big problem: Kristen Bell is really busy. She's currently starring on The Good Place, and she has Frozen 2 and Bad Mom's Christmas to shoot and promote.
We'll keep you updated with any new information, but this is all we know at the moment!
Stephen Curry Sings Disney Songs During His Carpool Karaoke Session
Just in case you had any doubt that Stephen Curry is good at every single thing on Earth, his appearance on The Late Late Show on Monday should put your mind at ease. While host James Corden usually saves his Carpool Karaoke sessions for the music industry's biggest names (he says he made Adele audition for weeks), the Golden State Warriors player got to take his turn in the passenger seat because, yep, he can also sing. After James attempted to give Steph some life lessons while playing mini golf, the two hit the road to belt out some Disney songs. Steph, who is father to daughters Riley and Ryan with wife Ayesha, impressively sang along to Moana's "How Far I'll Go" and Frozen's "Love Is an Open Door." Long story short, he's a legend on and off the court.

The Internet Is Understandably Upset With This Tone-Deaf Pepsi Commercial
Sometimes, companies hit the right tone when it comes to making statements in commercials. Most of the time, however, the company ends up looking out of touch and leaves the internet shaking its head at it. The newest club member to this group? Pepsi, along with Kendall Jenner, for a ridiculous, tone-deaf commercial.
The commercial starts off innocently enough with a protest taking over the streets, signs like "Join the Conversation" popping up. But as Kendall Jenner, clad in a blond wig and taking part in a photo shoot, notices the crowd, she realizes where she needs to be - the protest. Kendall wipes off her lipstick and joins the protest, grabbing a Pepsi can in the process. If you're not cringing yet, you will when Kendall walks up to a line of police officers and hands one a Pepsi can. The image is an allusion to when Ieshia Evans, who was standing peacefully in front of police officers at a protest in Baton Rouge, LA, was arrested. Watch the entire commercial below.
The internet collectively lost it when Pepsi aired this commercial.

People also took the time to call out Kendall Jenner for participating.
-this is the closest we have ever seen a kardashian be to activism and it's a fake protest in a pepsi ad she was paid millions to appear in
- jack wagner (@GrimmKardashian) April 4, 2017
Others couldn't help but make fun of the entire situation.
Who wants to let me film them handing a Pepsi to a riot cop at the next big Portland Protest?
- doug brown (@dougbrown8) April 4, 2017
Look I'm as woke as the next guy, but even cops shouldn't have to drink Pepsi.

Some people wondered how Coca-Cola's day was going.
Pepsi just did a brilliant ad for Coke
- Nic Sampson (@NicSampson) April 4, 2017

- quinta b. (@quintabrunson) April 4, 2017
Mostly, the internet now officially hates Pepsi.

Get an Awe-Inspiring Watercolor Tattoo Without the Commitment
Watercolor tattoos are beautiful, right? But if you don't want a commitment, you can re-create the look by using food coloring and any waterproof liquid eyeliner you have handy.
Practice a little by tracing geometric shapes (or whatever design you like) on a piece of paper. Then, using different brushes, pat on the food coloring. It should wash off in the shower using soap, water, and a little exfoliation. Also, if you're allergic to food coloring, maybe sit this one out? And always test a small patch on a hidden part of your body before trying out trends to see how your skin reacts!
Let us know in the comments if you'd give this a go.

A Trainer's Take on How Many Days Each Week You Should Strength Train
Cardio definitely burns calories, but in order to lose weight more effectively, building muscle through strength training is a must. Confused about how often you need to hit those weights and bodyweight exercises?
If you're just looking to get strong and tone up, fitness instructor John Kersbergen says, "what I've found to be the most realistic for people to actually consistently do is some form of strength training three to four times per week, for 30 to 40 minutes." That's enough. If losing weight is also your goal, focus on your diet and creating a calorie deficit, and you can also include cardio a few times a week to burn extra calories.
How you set up those sessions and what exercises you do depends on your goals. Bodyweight moves might be enough for some people, but others may need to add weights or resistance in order to get the results they're after. John says, "get as much work done in as short of amount of time each time with mostly total-body compound movements that recruit more muscles and burn more calories." We're talking squat variations - like jumping squats, weighted squats, and dumbbell thrusters - deadlifts, burpees, push-ups, plank variations - like up-down planks and side planks with leg lifts - and lunge variations like split lunge jumps. John says static holds, like elbow plank hold, are also great to include because they increase the muscles' time under tension, which is another way to challenge them and make them stronger.

Why a Flight Attendant Asked a Mom With a Screaming Baby to Move
One mom was pretty much living the fear of every parent who has ever traveled alone with kids on a recent Southwest flight. She was with her two young girls when according to a neighbor sitting nearby, her baby burst into a major meltdown. No matter what the mom did, she just couldn't console her baby or put an end to the "very loud" crying fit.
Carrie Jaboor was seated behind the mom and watched as an airline employee walked up to the mom and asked calmly asked her to come to the back of the plane. However when she turned around, the exchange was the complete opposite of what she expected. "I looked back and saw him blowing bubbles for the little girl until she stopped crying as he was also giving tissues to the mother and consoling her as she was crying too," Carrie shared with the Love What Matters Facebook page. "There are some seriously kind people in this world."
Although some could have been more than a bit annoyed by the child's crying, this kind flight attendant didn't blame the mom and instead showed compassion to both the parent and her child.
