How to Wear Track Pants Right Now
The last time we wore Adidas track pants we were throwing them over gym shorts and pairing them with cleats for soccer practice. That was long before the athleisure trend came back in a big way last year. And while we've graduated from leggings and Yeezy trainers to roomy trousers, there are still so many fresh combinations to try.
This season, we're seeing ladies rock their gym pants with heels and undone blouses. They're slipping into full sets, and breaking up their look with a statement bag. And they're almost always adding a feminine touch in the form of jewelry: chunky chokers, geometric earrings, and fistfuls of rings included. Read on for a few different styling tricks we gathered from the street, then shop the essential piece that's comfortable (and now chic) enough to live in.
33 Photos of Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos's Family That Will Replace Your Morning Coffee
Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos may be big names in Hollywood (she has her own star on the Walk of Fame, after all), but when it comes to their personal life, they're just normal parents to their three gorgeous kids: Michael, 19, Lola, 15, and Joaquin, 14. Kelly and Mark, who eloped in Las Vegas in 1996, have never been shy about sharing glimpses of their family on social media over the years. Whether they're celebrating Christmas, bonding on family vacations, or visiting their parents at work, the Consuelos kids seem to have really good heads on their shoulders. And despite them growing up so fast (Michael recently went away to college), the family of five remains as tight as ever.
This Challenging Exercise Will Take Your Abs to the Next Level
Have you ever gone to the gym and just marveled at some of the things you see other people doing? There's the girl who can squat twice her bodyweight, which is amazing! There's the older lady who looks fitter than women half her age. There's even the young teen who does so many steps on the stair climber that she'd have reached the top of the Empire State Building by the time you're still on the third flight. The truth is, everyone's fitness level is different and anyone putting in the work should feel great about what they do. But having said that, it's hard to watch others and not feel at least a little left behind sometimes. We get that. And that's why we're going to show you how to do one move that will help you craft a strong and lean core all while becoming the woman that everyone's inspired by from afar.
The move we're prepping you to do is the hanging ab curl. If you've ever seen pictures of it, you're probably thinking there's no way you can do it, but that's where you're wrong. Sure, you may not be able to do more than one (or even one) rep today, but if you train right and focus on the form, you can build your way up to mastering this move and seeing the amazing results on your flat belly as a result! So, how are you going to do this move? We're glad you asked, because we asked noted abs expert Kendall Wood, CSCS and coauthor of Core Fitness Solution, to give us the skinny on how to do it right. "Lots of people will look at this exercise and immediately say they can't do it, but almost anyone can progress their fitness to do the hanging ab curl," Kendall told POPSUGAR.
How to Do a Hanging Ab Curl
To progress through it, Wood suggests you get comfortable hanging off of a chin-up bar: "Do some wide-grip chin-ups and hang for a few seconds between reps so your upper body can get used to the position." From there, simply start pulling your legs up using your lower abs, but don't get discouraged if you can't bring them all the way up right away. "Even just bringing your legs up halfway is a victory on the first few attempts of doing this move," Wood told us. Once you get comfortable in this movement and you're able to bring your knees up so your hamstrings are parallel with the floor (and your knees are making a 90-degree angle), you're ready to start actually doing the hanging ab curl.
- Hang off a pull-up bar with your palms facing out or toward each other.
- With your body hanging off the bar in a straight line, contract your abs inward.
- Without swinging your weight, and using your core exclusively, bring your knees up to your chest as you exhale.
- Lower your legs back to the starting position slowly. That's one rep.
- Perform this move as many times as you can at the end of a core workout.
If you find this move to difficult to do using a bar, you can modify the exercise by performing it on a vertical knee raise machine instead.
So Apparently Jimmy Carter Actually Voted For Bernie, Not Hillary
When Jimmy Carter sat down with Sen. Bernie Sanders on May 8, the former president made an interesting revelation: in the 2016 Democratic primaries, he actually voted for Sanders over Hillary Clinton.
The two men met at the Carter Center in Georgia that evening to discuss politics and human rights. In true Sanders fashion, the former presidential nominee discussed America's need for higher voter participation. "We have got to get people involved," Sanders said. "And you do that by being honest about the real problems they face and come up with real solutions." That's when Carter turned to the crowd to say, "Can y'all see why I voted for him?"
The 39th president's comment comes as a bit of a surprise, considering he admitted in July 2015 that he predicted Hillary Clinton would seal the party nomination, according to The Washington Post. Plus, in July 2016, after Sanders conceded the nomination to Clinton, Carter officially endorsed the former secretary of state.
Watch the full exchange between Carter and Sanders in the video below, and skip ahead to the 22-minute mark to hear Carter discuss his vote.

George and Amal Clooney Lock Down a Stunning Manhattan Apartment Perfect for Their Growing Family
With residences in Studio City, CA; Lake Como, Italy; and England, it only makes sense that George and Amal Clooney were ready for a permanent place in New York City – especially now that they're expecting twins. According to Page Six, the couple have purchased a luxury apartment at One Hundred East Fifty Third Street, and it's really something special. Although the couple did not opt for the penthouse, listed for $65 million, they reportedly went for a unit in the skyscraper building, which is expected to be completed next year. The site reports that George and Amal decided this would be the perfect location to buy an apartment because of its close proximity to the United Nations for Amal, who will also be teaching at Columbia Law School. But of course, the over-the-top "hotel-like" amenities did help convince the couple.
The first two levels of the building are occupied by French chef Joël Robuchon with a gourmet marketplace and restaurant. There's a wellness facility with a Pilates and ballet room, a yoga room, a sauna and steam room, a 60-foot sunlit swimming pool, and so much more. The building has full concierge services with a "dedicated lifestyle manager, global travel agents, personal shopping, and priority event access." Each residence will have 11-foot ceilings and jaw-dropping views likely to take your breath away. Keep reading to see all the photos inside George and Amal's stunning new NYC building.

I Want My Kid to Celebrate Mother's Day at School, Dammit
My son's preschool recently included a note in their monthly newsletter about Mother's Day and Father's Day. It was at the bottom of the email after a few other important announcements and I almost missed it until another parent texted me in outrage about it. I went back and read it in full:
"We have traditionally shown our appreciation for all of our wonderful parents by setting up a card making station for the children in each room so they can make cards for Mother's Day and Father's Day (if they like). But times, they are a-changing! We have single parent families, dual mom families, families that are just about every shape and size - and rather than inadvertently point out differences in families during Mother's Day and Father's Day, we are going to offer the children card making stations to celebrate Parent's Day, in July."
The sentiment here is understandable. Of course we want children to feel included. Of course we want to be sensitive to different types of families.
But nontraditional families - and differences in general - have been around since long before 2017, so why now do we feel the need to take measures to avoid holidays (that have been celebrated for more than 100 years, by the way) that may "inadvertently point out differences"?
Are we really doing our children any favors by eliminating any possibility that they may notice or, God forbid, discuss their differences? Instead, why don't we use these long-celebrated holidays and traditions as conversation starters to talk about how every family looks different? As opportunities to share that some kids have two moms and some kids only have a dad? To reiterate that every family is special and unique and deserves to be celebrated in some way? That grandmas and aunts and uncles and cousins are also important people who can be honored on these special days too?
And while I admit my own son lives a very "traditional" life and wouldn't be "singled out" by either of these holidays, I myself grew up with divorced parents, so I know firsthand about feeling like my family wasn't the same as other families. I was one of very few kids in my class with divorced parents; all of my closest friends had "intact" families at the time.
Technically, I was the odd kid out. But honestly, I have no recollection of any school event or holiday celebration making me feel that way. In fact, I'd like to think I'm more understanding of others, and more adaptable, having grown up with a glaringly different circumstance than my peers. I'd also like to think my family dynamic made other kids more aware and understanding of the many different types of families there are in the world, which is something I'd also love for my son to be exposed to.
And listen, I do want the craft. I cherish the crafts. Single moms who commented about the Mission, British Columbia, school that recently announced it would not be celebrating Mother's or Father's Day want the crafts because often it's the only gift they get. But this isn't just about the crafts or the cards.
And it's not about Parents' Day. No one even knows when Parents' Day is, and it certainly doesn't hold the same significance for moms and dads as Mother's and Father's Days do. It's also not even completely inclusive as it's still called Parents' Day, plural.
Differences exist. We're never going to do away with differences.
It's the principle that we're slowly chipping away at longstanding traditions and celebrations in order to avoid pointing out differences. Differences exist. We're never going to do away with differences. And why should we want to? We should celebrate them and discuss them. We should expose our children to them. We should arm our children with tools to handle them. We should fight to keep them as part of the narrative so they become less different and more ordinary.
And our schools, which are constantly reminding parents that everything starts with us, that the most important work is being introduced and reinforced at home, and that they need our unwavering (and often monetary!) support, should show parents that support right back by involving our children in activities that celebrate us or whoever those primary caregivers are on Mother's and Father's Day.
Because if we can't even do that, then what's next? In our quest to be sensitive to everyone, we'll end up tiptoeing around everything at the expense of celebrating anything. And then everyone loses.

Scandal Is Ending With Season 7
Get ready to pour the wine, Scandal fans. The series, which stars Kerry Washington, will reportedly end with its previously announced season seven. According to The Hollywood Reporter, ABC is expected to make the official announcement at next week's upfront presentation. Even though showrunner Shonda Rhimes has declined to comment, she has been vocal about the show's uncertain future since Donald Trump was elected as president. "I used to know how it ended," she said ahead of the show's 100th episode. "We had a destination, and I don't know if that's our destination anymore."
The season six finale is set to air on May 18.
A Pregnant Mom Got Help Soothing Her Crying Baby on a Flight From This Unexpected Stranger
When a pregnant mom boarded a plane with her toddler son, she probably knew it was going to be a difficult flight. What she didn't know was that she'd find support in one of the unlikeliest of places: a complete stranger.
Instead of zoning out a crying child like so many passengers try to do, one man got up and helped. And Angela Byrd, another passenger, captured the moment on camera.
"On a flight back to Georgia, this man, who was a stranger to this woman, offered to help her because she was pregnant and alone on the flight and her son was upset and fussy," Byrd wrote in a post on the Everything Georgia Facebook page earlier this week.
So, what connected this man to this woman?
"He told her that he was a dad," she wrote. "He wanted to help her so she could rest. He walked the aisle most of the flight from Minneapolis to Atlanta comforting this woman's son as if he was his own. I was in tears . . . because it showed me today that there are still good people out there in a world full of turmoil."

These Trash Can Bouquets Will Take Your Breath Away
New Yorkers have been noticing a spate of breathtaking flowers popping up of late - and it has nothing to do with Spring. Lewis Miller Design, a floral and event design and decoration firm, has been committing random acts of flowers around NYC, much to the delight of local citizens. These "flower bandits" are transforming city trash cans into enormous bouquets and even updating monuments and statues with dramatic floral flair. The fragrant works of art are usually installed early in the morning to create an element of surprise. Lewis told Domino, "The motivation has always been singular: to create an emotional response with flowers." You don't have to live in New York to experience these innovative floral masterpieces. Check out some highlights in the slideshow ahead.

This Pink Bakery in Spain Will Make You Want to Hop on a Plane, Like, Now
The pastries at this bakery may be delicious, but we think the pink decor is what's most appealing to the senses. Be Fast Pan y Pasteles in Alcalá de Henares, Spain, has 12,000 magenta sticks installed into its ceiling, and it's a beautiful sight. The bakery wanted to stand out and be unique - we think it achieved that, and then some.
Alcalá de Henares is just 30 minutes outside of Madrid, so it's an easy trip if you're visiting the country's capital. The pink floors and furniture along with the brick walls make this bakery an ideal location for a memorable photo. Who's in the mood for a treat?
I Learned More From My "Sh*tty" College Jobs Than I Ever Did in Class
I got my first "unglamorous" job when I was 16, when I was more than happy to strap on roller skates and skate around Sonic Drive-In for $6.25 an hour. I was incredibly proud when I got hired, relishing my sore legs and dirty apron after a long day of delivering burgers and milkshakes to customers. It wasn't until a classmate asked me when I was "quitting that crappy job" that I ever felt self-conscious . . . all that mattered to me was being able to buy my first car, an ancient stick shift older than I was, in cash.
My second "unglamorous" job came when I was 18, during my freshman year at college. I began working the morning shift at the local coffee shop, which required me to wake up daily around 4 a.m. and start baking pastries, scrubbing toilets, and churning out double espressos before a full day of classes. I also juggled two unpaid internships during the same year, essentially trading sleep for work experience and good grades.
My third (paid) unglamorous job, this time at a local thrift clothing store where people regularly tried to sell me dirty underwear, followed after two years at the coffee shop. There were also countless other unpaid internships and freelance writing gigs along the way.
When I had to bow out of social events because of my demanding work schedule, many school friends expressed sympathy for how "sh*tty" it was, but I rarely agreed. While everyone else was recovering from the latest frat party, I was waking up at 4 a.m. to make $7 per hour . . . and that was how I liked it.
Lessons My "Sh*tty" Jobs Taught Me
Instead of relying on my parents to pay for my groceries, cell phone bill, and rent, I was able to do these things on my own, maintaining my grades and even graduating a year early to avoid unnecessary student debt. Because of my "sh*tty" jobs, I had a full résumé before graduation and a healthy attitude toward working hard to achieve my goals. I learned perspective, self-sufficiency, and financial responsibility at an early age. Sure, I smelled like french fries, had coffee grounds in all of my shoes, and wore secondhand clothes because I got an employee discount, but I wouldn't change those things for the world.
Though many students try their hardest to avoid working in school, the lessons you learn from first jobs (no matter how "crappy" they are) are invaluable.
- Budgeting: When you start seeing dollar amounts in hours it takes to pay for them, it becomes a lot easier to skip a Frappuccino that costs an hour of work to earn.
- Time management: When you've got a shift at 5 a.m., you can't rely on your parents or roommates to wake you up. You learn how to go to bed on time, set alarms, and get out the door without anybody else motivating you.
- How to say "no": Working in college is a great exercise in standing your ground. You learn to say "no" to co-workers who need their shift covered during your mandatory attendance lecture, and you have to put your foot down if your manager asks you to stay late on the day of your final exam.
- Perspective: When you get a new job, you might quickly learn that it's not for you. This will help you set goals for achieving a career that suits your needs and desires, molding your perspective about what you want in life.
- Playing nice: Some people don't ever learn how to handle workplace drama, but it certainly helps when you start working young. Whether it's observing disastrous teenage flings between co-workers or having to spend eight hours in a drive-through next to somebody you don't enjoy spending time with, these "crappy" jobs teach you the art of the poker face and an undramatic disposition.
- Making friends: Working exposes you to many people you might not have met otherwise and gives ample opportunity to diversify your circle of friends. It's a privilege to come into contact with so many people of different ages, backgrounds, and life experiences!
- Respect: The ultimate lesson to be learned from working hard is respecting others who do the same. After working in a coffee shop, you'll think twice about complaining when the baristas take more than 30 seconds to whip up your drink; after scrubbing toilets, you'll be more courteous to those who clean up after you. This is the sort of thing that can't be taught in a classroom!
Harry Styles Might Be Dating the World's Most Stylish Celebrity Chef
Admittedly, I didn't know much about Tess Ward until she made headlines for showing up to the Audi Polo Challenge in a Gucci blouse previously spotted on Harry Styles. Apparently, she was also seen getting into the singer's car, sparking rumors that the former One Direction band member has a new girlfriend. Single or not, 27-year-old UK-based Tess is damn stylish and, most importantly, making a name for herself in both the fashion and food worlds.
Tess popularized The Naked Diet and she runs her own blog called The Yes Chef. Being a Le Cordon Bleu-trained chef, she doesn't just host parties for top UK brands like Mulberry and Alice Temperley - she also hangs with the model crowd. Tess's Instagram is quite literally delicious and envy-inducing, and you should absolutely follow her right away for inspiration purposes, and, you know, to keep an eye out for any more of Harry's designer shirts.

This Bizarre Skittles Mother's Day Ad Will Make You Scream "WTF"
The Skittles brand has always been known for its offbeat commercials encouraging consumers to "taste the rainbow" in various ways, but its bizarre new Mother's Day spot has the internet screaming a collective "WTF?!"
In the 30-second ad, a mother and her adult son are sitting on the couch together eating Skittles. In a pretty squirmy twist, it turns out that rather than eat some of the chewy fruit candies on his own, the son is tasting the flavors thanks to the umbilical cord that's still firmly attached to both parties.
This is why we can't have nice things.
Name a Better Duo Than Pan Dulce and Horchata Ice Cream – We'll Wait
After seeing Horchateria Rio Luna's Concha Ice Cream Sandwich, we can now confirm that love at first sight is scientifically proven to be true. In addition to its decadent churro sundae, the Los Angeles-based coffee shop is also known for its epic ice cream sandwich that involves two slices of pan dulce.
The Concha Ice Cream Sandwich involves horchata ice cream, a concha that's been cut in half, walnuts, and the so-called drizzle of your choice out of the following options: strawberry, guava, condensed milk, cajeta, or Nutella. As an alternative to the horchata ice cream, the shop can also replicate the sandwich using a scoop of vibrant pitaya sorbet.
A regular-sized sandwich is priced at $4, but Horchateria also offers an ambitious extra large version for $6. Ahead, drool over some pictures of our new favorite hybrid dessert.

Women With Clear Skin Always Eat These 6 Foods - and Avoid These 2

If you're like us (and we're betting you are), you've studied every acne face map on the web to no avail. Worry not. We tapped Dr. Helen Knagg, PhD., vice president of research and development at Nu Skin, for answers. "Skin is your body's largest organ. Pippa's Look Has These Distinctly Kate Middleton Details
Call it the Kate Middleton effect, because, like the rest of the world, Pippa can't seem to get enough of her sister's style. The bride-to-be stepped out for church on Tuesday with her fiancé in an outfit that was giving us serious Kate vibes. Just take a look - the sheath dress, nude pumps, coordinating minaudiere, and printed coat all look like they could have been plucked from the duchess's royal wardrobe - well, save for one detail. While Kate's coats are typically more classic-feeling - think ladylike details, houndstooth prints, and double-breasted or coat-dress silhouettes - Pippa's vibrant print feels trendier than anything her sister might wear. It's more contemporary, awash in a subtle pink shade and a more global-inspired print - which happens to create some subtle print-mixing paired with Pippa's exotic clutch.
Read on to see the details that set Pippa's look apart, then shop a similar coat to take your look to the next level, too.

Black Passenger Claims American Airlines Made Her Give Up Her First-Class Seat
American Airlines is under fire for an alleged incident that two passengers say was blatantly racist. The alleged incident occurred on May 2, and the passenger states that while she was asked to move, the white friend she was traveling with was not.
The story begins on May 2 on an American Airlines flight from Kentucky to Charlotte, NC. Rane Baldwin, a black woman, used her credit card and American Airlines traveler status to upgrade her seat and her friend's to first class. However, when they scanned their tickets at the gate, Baldwin was given a new one with a seat at the back of the plane. Further, she says her friend, Janet Novack, a white woman, didn't have to change her seat. Novack took to Twitter to explain the situation. She said that while she understood the need to occasionally move passengers, it was how the staff handled the rest of the situation that she didn't like.
@AmericanAir Which is fine, things happen, it's the reaction by your staff that was completely unacceptable and just got worse from there.
- Janet Novack (@janetnovack_) May 2, 2017
Novack explained that whenever Baldwin asked questions, she was ignored by the staff. However, when Novack asked anything, she was answered. She says Baldwin moved up to the front of the main cabin at one point and Novack joined her. But, Novack claims, the staff was confused as to why Novack would leave her first-class seat and told her she didn't "have to" sit next to Baldwin.
@AmericanAir When he got to us I was informed that I could move, and we didn't HAVE to sit together. Apparently, everyone else could be squished, not us.
- Janet Novack (@janetnovack_) May 2, 2017
Novack says she couldn't believe it, considering she was only sitting in first class thanks to Baldwin.
@AmericanAir Your workers were completely comfortable keeping me in front and sending her to the back of the plane. Literally to the BACK of the plane.
- Janet Novack (@janetnovack_) May 2, 2017
Baldwin has since complained to the airline for the alleged racist encounter. "I've never felt so unimportant my entire life. This flight was the most blatantly racist thing that's ever happened to me," Baldwin told The Root. Novack, on the other hand, felt like she didn't do enough to defend her friend. "To say that I'm still baffled and at a loss for words is a gross understatement. Primarily, I feel guilt. There are a million things that I wish I could go back in time and do to help the situation and stand up for Rane," Novack said to The Root. Baldwin has yet to hear anything from American Airlines; meanwhile, the airline has responded to Novack's tweets.
@janetnovack_ We don't tolerate discrimination of any kind. Please share details and your record locator. We want to look into this quickly.

15 Times Harry Styles Shattered Men's Fashion Norms in Gucci
Since launching his solo career this year, Harry Styles has been a walking billboard for Gucci in each of his performances and TV appearances. When Harry wears Gucci, though, he doesn't go with a sleek, tailored black suit that is so commonly expected of men. No, Harry opts for the splashy, loud prints that Alessandro Michele is sending down his runways as creative director of the fashion house. But for anyone who wasn't paying attention to Harry while he was in his One Direction days (shame on you, but welcome to the party), this style isn't new for him.
A couple years ago, Harry started to boldly follow in the footsteps of fashionable men who came before him, like Jared Leto or even David Bowie, whom Harry has been compared to countless times, especially as of late. These are men who paved the way years ago for androgynous fashion that's been steadily on the rise and is now blowing up, thanks in large part to what Gucci is currently doing.
With the help of his stylist, Harry Lambert, Harry is setting the tone for this new piece of his life while outfitted almost exclusively in Gucci. Nearly gone are his sleek Burberry shirts and rocker-esque Saint Laurent jackets (he may never give up his Hawaiian-print Saint Laurent shirts, though), and in their places are Gucci's flashy florals and bright colors that would be at home on a man or a woman. These style moves come as no surprise when Harry is the type of man who carries a pink iPhone and chose to design his entire solo album look in a very trendy millennial pink shade.
And though androgyny and flamboyant fashion certainly aren't new, it's refreshing to see more and more high-profile men taking risks and promoting happiness and acceptance, no matter what.
Harry's not afraid to take risks, not only in his new music (hello, an over-5-minute Britpop masterpiece as a debut single?), but also with his revamped image. Sure, he was rocking eye-catching patterns while still in One Direction, but now that his career and life are more or less his own and he doesn't have to conform to what society views a boy band as or even a manly man as, he appears to be doing and wearing what makes him happy and comfortable. It might be custom-embroidered Gucci pants or a delicate lace turtleneck - or even a women's suit for a photo shoot - but nearly all of it is fashion-forward, covered in bold prints or colors, and firmly in ungendered territory. And though androgyny and flamboyant fashion certainly aren't new, it's refreshing to see more and more high-profile men taking risks and promoting happiness and acceptance, no matter what.
To see just what I mean about Harry's new love affair with Gucci, scroll through for 15 times he and the brand were a match made in print-loving heaven. And though this list is by no means exhaustive - Harry has worn a lot of Gucci - it provides a good introduction to what Harry is doing with this new path in his life and career. Frankly, I can't wait to see what he wears next.
Refresh and Clean Your Car Seats With Ease

Make These 69 DIY Cleaning Products For Pennies
19 Insanely Cool Car Hacks You Should Try Out
What You'll Need:
- 2 tablespoons dish soap
- 2 tablespoons washing soda
- 2 cups hot water
- Mixing bowl
- Cleaning brush
- Clean towel
- Linen spray (optional)
Directions:
- Start by giving your seats a quick vacuum, or gently wipe with the dry cleaning brush to remove any bits and also give the fabric a bit quick refreshing.
- Mix together the cleaning solution to use on your seats. Dish soap is so gentle, lifting grease stains while refreshing the fabric, and washing soda is also a cleaning booster that leaves your seats happy. And both are safe to use on fabrics. Add the hot water, and give it a quick whisk.
- Lightly dip the cleaning brush in the mixture, and then work over car seats in a circular motion. You're not looking to soak the fabric - just slightly dampen it to lift any stains. This also helps to remove any pilling from the upholstery.
- Wipe the car seat with a towel, and continue working until all seats have been cleaned. Lower the windows, and let air dry.
- Finish by giving your car another vacuuming using the hose attachment, and then spritz with linen spray. You'll love your wonderfully smelling vehicle!

"Vaccine Skeptics" Caused a Massive Measles Outbreak - and Need to Learn From It
Minnesota is currently dealing with the largest measles outbreak in decades, and health officials hope the public learns from these sick children and the decision their parents made.
Almost all of the 48 people currently infected are children, and although only 11 of them are currently hospitalized due to complications, the Minnesota depart of health is expecting many more. David Johnson, program manager with the Hennepin County Health Department, explained that after a "natural experiment" gained popularity in the community, vaccine rates dropped as preventable disease spread.
Pediatrician's Extreme Message on Vaccines and "Measles-Shedding Children" Is Better Than Gold
"What we have now is a community that was really influenced by these anti-vaccine groups. And they've performed a natural experiment: to forgo the measles vaccine based on this propaganda," David told NBC News.
David explained that in the community that's affected by the outbreaks, their vaccine rates were once higher than average but have plummeted to half of that. "And unfortunately now we are seeing the result," he said. "Measles is spreading rapidly in the community and 11 children are hospitalized. And at the same time there is no evidence of any corresponding drop in autism in the community."
According to officials, Somali immigrants have had the hardest time with this outbreak as many have opted against vaccines because of a higher autism rate within their community. "There has been ongoing contact between outside groups who have come in and wanted to do organizing within the community that's affected here," David said. "And I think that's really unfortunate because some of the anti-vaccine propaganda is largely to blame for what's going on in our community."
Participants of the "anti-vaxxer campaigns" have organized within the community lobbying parents to be wary of vaccines, autism, and pharmaceutical companies. "These groups continue to fabricate and promote alternative facts that have no bearing on reality," David said. "They've preyed on parents' concerns about the health of their children and they've provided them false hope that avoiding the measles vaccine will somehow prevent autism, when in fact not vaccinating only serves to increase the risk of a child getting a disease and then spreading it to others."

But, Novack claims, the staff was confused as to why Novack would leave her first-class seat and told her she didn't "have to" sit next to Baldwin.

How Alien: Covenant Connects to Prometheus and the Original Alien
It's been five years since the release of Prometheus, the first of multiple prequels to the iconic Alien film. Nearly 40 years ago, that first film delighted and horrified audiences with the introduction of the malicious and blood-hungry alien race known as Xenomorphs. As the Alien universe continues to grow larger with the release of Alien: Covenant, it's impossible not to look for connections between all the films. Does the new film bring us full circle? Are we finally getting the full picture? Let's break it down.
Before we get to the big answer, let's go over how Alien: Covenant connects to Prometheus. It's pretty simple: Covenant takes place about 10 years after the first film. At the end of Prometheus, we know Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace) and David (the android played by Michael Fassbender) fly to another planet. They want to find the place where the Engineers (aka the massive human-like beings who created the humans on Earth) lived and not where they conducted their experiments. Seeing as the world in Covenant seems different from the one we see in Prometheus, it's safe to say Shaw and David found what they were looking for. We have clues to confirm it: Covenant's crew finds David and Shaw's ship, and of course, they encounter David himself. So, the biggest connection back to Prometheus is this character. And, of course, the alien monsters (the Xenomorphs) continue to be a thread through all films.
Warning: Spoilers below.
But how does Covenant connect to Alien? Well, it doesn't quite get there . . . yet. Even so, we can begin to see how we might eventually tie everything up. The mission the Alien: Covenant crew is tasked with is to find a new Earth-like planet and colonize it. The hope is to rebuild the human race. It's possible, if the colony mission ends up being a success (we're not entirely sure by the end of the film), that this is where Ripley could come into play. In fact, she could be one of the slumbering colonists on the ship. After all, Prometheus takes place in 2093, and Covenant is in 2104. Alien's setting is the year 2122, so we're only 18 years away from meeting Ripley. In Covenant, we learn there are seven remaining years before the ship reaches the new planet. That puts us at 2111 or 2112, just 10 or 11 years away from the original film. Could the next entry be the final piece of the puzzle? We'll just have to wait and see.
Just 16 Pictures of Charlie Hunnam Looking Hot as Hell in King Arthur
King Arthur: Legend of the Sword truly has something for everyone: Guy Ritchie as the director (meaning kickass action), a tale as old as time, and Charlie freakin' Hunnam. Sure, Jude Law, Djimon Hounsou, and Eric Bana are some grade-A hunks too, but don't even try to tell me that you're not stoked to see Hunnam as the brave young Arthur. Ahead of the film's release, take a look through all the pictures of Hunnam looking fierce AF.

But best of all, nothing will set you back more than $6 apiece.
If you're already itching to pick up the entire collection, know that Beautycon New York attendees have a special advantage. They can get the entire set - where it will make its debut - on May 20 for just $25. The rest of us will have to wait to shop the bundle for $30. 6 Things I Learned When Trying to Make My Home Pinterest-Perfect For a Week
I love my home. When I first moved in, I would often go outside just to stare at its brick exterior and marvel at it. Here is a home that has been standing for over 100 years, and now I own it. I sometimes even wished I could give it a hug. Even though my building is my boo, that doesn't mean I still don't longingly peruse Pinterest, looking at all the perfect homes, and wonder what it must be like to live there.
In the years that I've lived in this building, I've used Pinterest a lot. It's often been a tool to guide my remodels, paint colors, and design choices. Pinterest has also been a great way to store all my dream designs and picture-perfect life, kind of a virtual bucket list for the home. I wonder what it would be like to live in one of those immaculately designed homes, even for just a week.
Since a temporary move is out of the question, I decided to see what it would take to turn my current house into a Pinterest-perfect dream home. In the course of a week, I tackled as many organizing, cleaning, decorating, and styling tips as I could find, and this is what I learned.
7 DIY Wedding Makeup Hacks to Ensure You Look Flawless on Your Big Day
So, you're engaged to the love of your life. Congratulations! Many will say that you've already done the hardest part (finding your spouse), but anyone who's attempted to plan a wedding knows that's not quite true. After all, falling down the Pinterest rabbit hole can be utterly exhausting. In particular, we find the makeup ideas to be overwhelming, often completely unrealistic to DIY, and far more dramatic than most brides would attempt for the most photographed day in their lives.
Makeup artist Tedrick LaMar of Butterfly Studio Salon, who works frequently with brides, agreed that wedding-day makeup can be tricky for many.
"Bridal [beauty] should always be the best version of yourself," he said. "Don't go oversculpting, leave that for the night out at the club. Your makeup should be classic and clean."
He noted that the mood of the wedding and your gown's design could (and should!) inspire your beauty style for the big day. For example, you might want a more ethereal look with an A-line gown, but someone wearing a fitted style might be after more chiseled features and high-drama eye makeup. But overall, "you should look polished and not exaggerated."
Hey, if your goal is to look like the best version of yourself, you can always try DIYing your wedding makeup. It may not be the route for everyone, but some brides will not only find the makeup application process soothing on this potentially stressful day, but also enjoy having 100-percent control.
Whether you're hiring a professional makeup artist or doing your own glam, makeup trials are key. LaMar advises that brides-to-be do a few test runs around three months before the main event so they can decide on the final look. Don't be afraid to experiment so you can get a sense of what you love, whether that's a red lip or lots of lashes.
Now that you're feeling empowered to be your own wedding makeup artist, read on! We worked with LaMar to come up with seven genius bridal beauty hacks. While a few of these tips are time-honored tricks (like making your eyes look bigger with a pale liner), others are total insider secrets (ever heard of "strategic mattifying?" We hadn't!). Ahead, you'll find some supercrafty hacks that will guarantee you look positively flawless as you float down the aisle.

A Millennial Mom's Thank-You Letter to "the Village"
We moms get a lot of credit. Much of it is deserved, which is why I do not contest being celebrated once a year (that's it?!) on Mother's Day. I live for that one day where everyone - from my toddler to my husband to my own mother to the waiter serving me my second mimosa at brunch - tips their hats to the bang-up job I'm doing as a mom.
But as much as I'd like to take all the credit (and if you asked my husband, I do), I know for a fact that I wouldn't even resemble a human, nevermind a fully functioning one raising two kids, without my support system. Without my village.
These days, people opine that "the village" is dead. That, thanks to our generation up and moving away from "home" and using smartphones, we no longer have a built-in community surrounding us with love. On some level it's true - there are mornings I wake up kicking myself for living so far from my parents and siblings. But with a combination of effort and mostly luck, I've managed to mod-podge a "millennial version" of the village that I'd be lost without.
To them, I want to say thank you.
Thank you to my village.
Thank you for sitting with me, not saying a word. Just sitting.
Thank you for not just offering help but getting really specific about it: "I'm going to bring you dinner on Tuesday night - what have you been craving?" "I'm going to take the kids to the park so you can take a shower." "I'm going to change the baby's diaper, don't get up."
Thank you for answering my text messages, whether it's 3 in the afternoon and you're on a work deadline or 3 in the morning and the buzz of your phone woke you from a really nice REM state.
Thank you for telling me I'm beautiful, that I look great, that my body is amazing. I often forget these days that it is.
Thank you for complimenting my boobs in a way that isn't at all icky.
Thank you for distracting me from the hard times and reminding me of the good ones. Thank you for giving me the extra push I need to get through the longer days.
Thank you for yelling over my midtantrum child that I'm doing a good job and that she's a good kid.
Thank you for recognizing when I actually want advice, for you to tell me what I'm doing wrong and how to fix it, and when I want you to just be the supportive cheerleader. Mostly, though, thank you for recognizing that sometimes, what I want doesn't matter and you are going to be the friend I need.
Thank you to my faraway village.
Thank you for visiting.
Thank you for visiting and understanding that while we once said, "Oh, we got this three-bedroom condo so our family could always stay with us!" . . . we need you to rent an Airbnb.
Thank you for not making me feel guilty for not replying to your email(s).
Thank you for the sweet gifts we get in the mail - they make me realize how often you are truly thinking of us - and for not expecting me to send a thank-you card in a timely fashion.
Thank you for the random "this reminded me of you" text message and for tagging me in that meme you knew would give me a laugh.
Thank you for always being here when I need you, even if you are technically there.
Thank you to the strangers, the previously unknown members of my village.
Thank you for smiling at me. Knowing smiles, nostalgic smiles, "Honey, I've been there" smiles.
Thank you for, when we're all waiting in a long line to check out at the grocery store and a new register opens up, letting me - with a baby wrapped on my chest and a cartful of frozen dinners - go ahead of you.
Thank you for insisting my toddler and I take your seat on the train, even when I said, "Oh, it's OK, we're fine." It's as if you knew I'm bad at taking favors.
Thank you for, when I'm calling to dispute a charge on my credit card and you hear my baby's cries in the background, you stop to congratulate me and ask how I'm doing.
Thank you for pointedly telling me not to apologize when I say "sorry" as my toddler barrels in front of you on the sidewalk.
Thank you for always "liking" my posts in our Facebook moms group, for sharing your anecdotal advice, and for always adding a "you got this" and a bicep emoji - even though we've never actually met.
Most of all, village, thank you for all the things I can't begin to thank you for - either because I've lost track of my good graces in trying to keep my kiddos alive and they've gone unnoticed or because they are too monumental to show any level of equivalent appreciation. Thank you for being a part of my tribe. I hope I'm able to be a part of yours just the same.
