Just Joined a Gym but Not Sure Where to Start? These Trainer Tips Can Help
The gym can be an intimidating place when you're first trying to get in shape - or even trying to get back to it after some time away. These tips from personal trainers can help you get over those newcomer fears, take full advantage of the services your gym offers, and finally crush your goals. Consider this one fewer daunting task on your to-do list.
A Calorie Comparison of Your Favorite Beers
If you're watching your waistline and enjoying an ice-cold brew, then might want to do a little research and how beers compare (or you might just want to sit back and enjoy your IPA, in that case no need to read further). The calorie counts may surprise you. Here's the nutritional info for one glass, can, or bottle of beer (about 12 ounces). Keep in mind that even though there may be health benefits associated with drinking alcohol, they only come with drinking in moderation. For women, that means one drink a day.

Twitter Is in a Very Intense Debate About . . . Crocs
How do you wear your Crocs? This week, something strange happened on social media. A single tweet about Crocs introduced a new concept: "sports mode." Take a look:
tell me why we were running and taliah said "I CANT KEEP UP!!! MY CROCS ARE NOT ON SPORTS MODE!!!!" 💀 pic.twitter.com/OF68M65gw7
- Alyssa Marie 🇵🇷 (@photosnfreckles) January 29, 2019
And so ensued a thread of comments about proper Crocs terminology . . . Crocs-ology, if you will. Some people said they call wearing the strap behind the ankle "walk mode" or "four-wheel drive." Some were really into this "sports mode" idea, and others, including me, have only ever seen the strap in front of the ankle. (You can imagine my surprise.)
We asked Crocs directly what they thought about this. Crocs' answer? There's really no wrong way to wear them. "We see our passionate fans share their opinions on 'straps back' vs. 'straps front' on social media and enjoy watching the conversation play out," a spokesperson told POPSUGAR. Plus, he directed us to the product description for the Classic Clog, which states that "pivoting heel straps" provide a "more secure fit." Nothing about "sports mode," but if you want to call it that, go right ahead. We're not stopping you, and neither is Crocs.
This probably goes without saying, but please, please do not confuse "sports mode" for "workout mode." Don't slip on your Crocs to go run a 5k or head to Tabata. Besides the fact that you'll get some serious stares at the gym, sneakers exist for a reason. Read on for some hilarious responses to this Crocs Twitter debate, and ask yourself this: what mode are you in?

All the Races You Can Run at Walt Disney World, the Most Magical Place on Earth
In our humble opinions, there are few things more spectacular than running through Cinderella's Castle at Walt Disney World. In those few early morning, sweat-soaked moments, when you're gazing up at the castle through a sea of similarly costumed companions, it doesn't matter what your pace is, how long you've trained, how out of breath you are - you just feel electric. It's a once-in-a-lifetime experience, but one that you could have multiple times a year if you so choose.
As of press time, there are four race weekends scheduled annually at Walt Disney World; Disneyland races are on hiatus for the time being, and there is one race at Disneyland Paris. So for now, you've got four US options for traipsing about the most magical place on earth in a tutu and sneakers.
Each of these events is beginner-friendly, family-friendly, entertaining and fun, and has its own unique spin. Are you a foodie, or more of a Star Wars aficionado? Do you live for all things Disney, or do you secretly wish you were a Disney princess with an adorable animal sidekick? (It's OK if your answer is "all of the above.") There are options for all of these! Here's everything you need to know, including deadlines for registration.

Lindsey Vonn Announces Her Retirement: "My Body Is Screaming at Me to Stop"
After an incredible run, Lindsey Vonn is retiring from ski racing. The 34-year-old athlete shared the news in an open and honest post on Instagram. "It's been an emotional 2 weeks making the hardest decision of my life, but I have accepted that I cannot continue ski racing," she wrote. Lindsey added that the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Are, Sweden, from Feb. 5 to Feb. 17 will mark the last races of her career.
"I have always pushed the limits of ski racing and it has allowed me to have amazing success but also dramatic crashes," Lindsey said. Lindsey went on to reveal that she underwent surgery in Spring 2018 to have cartilage removed from her bone. The surgery came after Lindsey had a serious crash while competing in Lake Louise in late 2017, and, despite that, still went on to compete in the 2018 Winter Olympics. To make matters worse, Lindsey crashed again while training in November 2018, sustaining several injuries to her left knee.
Though Lindsey has gone through extensive physical therapy and training, she feels she is no longer able to compete the way she used to. "My body is broken beyond repair and it isn't letting me have the final season I dreamed of," she said. "My body is screaming at me to STOP and it's time for me to listen."
"I'm not giving up! I'm just starting a new chapter."
Lindsey expressed frustration at having to retire without reaching her goal of breaking Ingemar Stenmark's record for World Cup wins. (Ingemar had 86 World Cup wins, while Lindsey is at 82.) While she won't be able to set the new record, Lindsey has seven World Championship medals and three Olympic medals and is one of two female skiers to have four World Cup overall wins. "To all the the kids out there, to my fans who have sent me messages of encouragement to keep going," she wrote, "I need to tell you that I'm not giving up! I'm just starting a new chapter."

I'm a Trainer, and This Is How Often You Should Be Working Out If You Want to Lose Weight
There are a few questions I always get asked once people find out I'm a trainer. The first is, "How often do you work out (if you really want to know, read this)"; then it's, "How can I get lean (here's what an expert has to say about that)"; and the third questions is, "How often should I be working out to [insert goal here]." Most of the time that goal is weight loss, and although I try to focus on things like becoming more functional and stronger with clients, I know it's a genuine question people have.
How Often Beginners Should Work Out For Weight Loss
In general, I try to avoid the one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to health and wellness because we're all different. Typically, for a true beginner (someone who has been sedentary and never worked out), I recommend two to three workouts a week. This may sound like a lot, especially for someone who is new to fitness, but I design the workouts to be performed at a moderate intensity. An example of this could be lower body, upper body, and total body with a day of rest in between each. If you want to do more, use your rest days to do low-intensity activities, like yoga or simply walking more.
At this stage, quality over quantity is preferred. I recommend paying attention to how you're handling the workouts and how your body feels. If you're extremely sore and can't move, that's a good indicator to scale back. If your workouts feel easy and you're never sore, that's an indicator to increase your load and intensity.
I recommend focusing on total-body workouts that incorporate a cardio aspect. Consider using the StairMaster, doing treadmill sprints, or doing strength workouts with shorter rest periods.
How Often Intermediate/Advanced People Should Work Out For Weight Loss
For those with experience working out (someone who has an understanding of the fundamentals and a general exercise foundation), I recommend between three and five sessions a week. Because you're doing more sessions per week, there's a lot you can with your programming. I like to break up workouts by muscle groups and also mix up the style of training. One day, it may be a circuit, a sprint and explosive power session the next day, followed by total body, then a conditioning workout. This is just an example, and similar to beginners, it's important to listen to your body. If you aren't recovering or eating well, it's going to be hard to sustain this load.
Other Things to Consider When Working Out For Weight Loss
Ultimately, how often you should train will come down to your goals, what you like and dislike, and your physical abilities. As always, remember that these are general guidelines, and every trainer will have a different approach. During your weight-loss journey, it's important to remember that everyone will respond differently to exercise. Someone may work out two times a week and lose six pounds in a month, while someone else could work out four times a week and only lose three pounds.
Second, nutrition is equally as important as your workout routine. In my opinion, there isn't a perfect diet to follow - find one that you like and can sustain long-term. And just in case you were wondering, you don't have to follow a complicated or extremely restrictive diet like, the keto diet. As a nutrition coach, I generally advise clients to begin eating more whole, minimally processed foods before tackling more complex ways of eating.
Results won't happen overnight; stay focused on your goals, find what works best for you, and be patient and consistent. If you don't have a trainer and aren't sure what to do, start with any of these workout plans:

Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez Celebrated the End of Their 10-Day Challenge Very Differently
You have to give it up for Jennifer Lopez: after completing her 10-day no-carbs, no-sugar diet challenge, she let loose with brussels sprouts and mixed greens. In her defense, the singer and actress also enjoyed sweet plantains, white rice, tostones, and beans in a home-cooked meal that she said was "worth the wait."
Jennifer began the challenge with Alex Rodriguez, and the two encouraged other celebrities like Hoda Kotb and Carson Daly to join them along the way - although Carson admitted defeat before the 10 days were up. Alex, meanwhile, celebrated the end of the challenge much differently, with pizza, french fries, chicken wings, and cookies.
After the challenge really started to take off on social media, POPSUGAR spoke with Despina Hyde Gandhi, MS, RD at NYU Langone's Weight Management Program, who had mixed things to say and doesn't recommend eliminating carbs entirely. "When you cut out carbs, you're saying no to fruit, you're saying no to legumes and lentils, sweet potatoes, and all these wonderful foods that provide fiber for us," she said. As for the challenge's no-sugar component, Dr. Gandhi recommended cutting back on processed sugars but not taking such a hard line on naturally occurring sugars.
While it's certainly not for everyone, nor likely sustainable in the long run, it takes a lot of discipline to do what J Lo and ARod just did . . . and we hope they're happily enjoying their respective brussels sprouts and pizzas.

The Bratz Makeup Trend Is Sweeping Instagram Right Now and We Are Confused
If Instagram existed in 2001, photos of Bratz dolls would have filled our Explore feeds. They had street style that was always on-trend, experimented with bold shades of eye shadow, and wore the most attention-grabbing, high-shine lip gloss.
Maybe that's what revived the trend of re-creating the Bratz-inspired beauty looks with the hashtag #BratzChallenge. The pictures range from faces painted with colors inspired by the authentic doll to full-on illustrations of its enlarged eyes and lips. To some, the looks may provoke a pleasant sense of nostalgia, while others may ask why this is a trend (considering the exaggerated features don't quite fit on, erm, human faces).
Ahead, see people take on the #BratzChallenge.

The Guest List For Kid Cudi's Birthday Dinner Was So Unexpected, You Couldn't Make It Up
Kid Cudi's 35th birthday dinner on Thursday was a true celebrity hodgepodge. For starters, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian were present, which isn't all that surprising considering Cudi's longtime friendship and working relationship with Kanye. But then there were Timothée Chalamet, who was actually a huge fan of the artist before he ever became an Oscar-nominated actor, and Pete Davidson, who in the past credited Cudi's music for saving his life. As one POPSUGAR editor noted, Cudi might, in fact, be the Kevin Bacon of millennials.
Onto the next question at hand: what could they have been talking about? In a series of photos Kim shared both on Twitter and Instagram Stories, the unexpected quartet of men can be seen huddled around Cudi's phone, laughing. What's on the screen, huh? While we'll probably (definitely) never know the many topics of discussion that evening, we sure can make some up!
- The polar vortex. (Do you think they know about the polar vortex?)
- A follow-up to Timothée's acclaimed statistics rap.
- The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
- The single carrot Kylie Jenner ordered on Postmates.
- The 2019 Oscars host controversy.
- How Timothée deserves to be nominated for best supporting actor at said Oscars, because he does!
- The beginning stages of planning Fyre Festival 2.
- Kanye's 2020 cabinet picks - just kidding . . . ahaha haha ha.
- Harnesses.
- The ending of A Star Is Born, and how something really needs to be done about that no-socks-wearing manager Rez. And how frustrating it is that as viewers we'll never get that moment of vindication, even though it shouldn't be about that because Jackson and Ally's love for each other is really all that matters.
- Oh yeah, without question they f*cking talked about "Thank U, Next."
If This Showrunner Has His Way, The Handmaid's Tale Will Be on TV For a LONG Time
With each passing day, we grow more and more anxious for the return of The Handmaid's Tale. Not that we really want to go back to a vile and horrifying place like Gilead, but at this point, we're so invested in June's story, we need to know what happens next! Luckily, the past couple of weeks have provided us with tiny tidbits about what's to come. In addition to the handful of details we do have about season three, we also caught wind of some mysterious casting news that should prove to be very interesting as we venture further into the unknown. And speaking of the "unknown," did you know that the creative minds behind the show are technically still pulling from the source material?
Now, you may well know that the big ending in the book is similar to the end of season one. Many fans have taken that to mean that the show is more or less venturing into the great, wide unknown, but readers of the book know there's an epilogue that launches us 200 years into the future from the moment the book ends. Last year, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, showrunner Bruce Miller made that exact point. "People talk about how we're beyond the book, but we're not really. The book starts, then jumps 200 years with an academic discussion at the end of it, about what's happened in those intervening 200 years," Miller said at the time. "It's maybe handled in an outline, but it's still there in Margaret's novel. We're not going beyond the novel; we're just covering territory she covered quickly, a bit more slowly."
So, there you have it! The show's story is still very much in line with Maragaret Atwood's original vision. In fact, the book is so ripe with material (blessed be the fruit), Miller has outlined quite a bit more story! "I roughed it out to about 10 seasons when I was first working on it," he said. "My arc is still very much the arc of the novel, which is the arc of this one woman's experience in Gilead at this time, and her recollections that paint this picture of what it was like and what the experience of this world was like, which really is still the book."
Yeah, that's right, 10 seasons! As for what they may contain? "I see a world beyond [the current one]. I would watch an episode about the Nuremberg trials after Gilead falls," Miller said. "There are lots of worlds you think of. I would love that season - seasons eight, nine, or 10, where everything has changed so much."
Then there's one other major thing to consider: the fact that Margaret Atwood has written a sequel, called The Testaments, that will drop later this year. The story takes place 15 years after the events of The Handmaid's Tale, meaning it will likely overlap with whatever goes down in the TV series. Luckily, this is more of an exciting revelation than anything else, because Atwood has been quite involved in the show from the get-go.
"She plays a huge role. She's the mother of us all," Miller said. "Usually when you adapt a classic book, you're not lucky enough to have the author around. We are very lucky to not just have her around, but very much energetic and involved. She was in the writers' room very early in the season. We've been talking throughout, and she's been reading everything. She's very involved." This means that the two stories must share some kind of relationship, right? Some of the things Atwood has discussed with Miller have surely ended up in the upcoming sequel. And, conversely, we're hoping some of Atwood's expert prose is woven back into the show.
We officially can't wait for season three. And season four. And season nine. And season 10.
Correction: An earlier version of this article identified Bruce Miller as Frank Miller, and has been updated.
The Internet Is VERY Divided Over That New Zac Efron Ted Bundy Movie - Here's Why
More than 30 years have passed since Ted Bundy's sickening murder spree, which left more than 30 (but potentially as many as 100) women dead. But now, thanks to a chilling Netflix docuseries and a biopic starring Zac Efron, the long-dead deranged psychopath has been thrust back into the spotlight. The whole ordeal has created a media circus not unlike the one that went down during his trial. Thanks in large part to Efron's involvement in the film - it's called Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile - it's not hard to go on a place like Twitter and find tweets glorifying, romanticizing, and outright objectifying the star and his character.
It doesn't help that the trailer for Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile seems to paint the events as some kind of edgy dark comedy. We've got an upbeat rock song, Efron's winks to camera, a glimpse at his muscular physique, and so much more. It seems to be taking a page from I, Tonya, which also depicted a dark and troubling story through a more divisive and markedly lighthearted lens. However, in this case, in a story that involves such repugnant and unthinkable crimes, it really rubs the wrong way.
Here's what I presume the film, and by that extension the trailer, is trying to do. During Bundy's trial, he was the perfect picture of a handsome, charming man who couldn't possibly have done the horrifying things he'd been accused of. Women would give courthouse interviews talking about his good looks and saying they believed he was innocent. The media fed into this frenzy, often depicting him in the same way. Even the docuseries on Netflix, which is much more grounded, is captivating and disturbing at the same time. By casting a heartthrob like Efron and playing up this aspect of Bundy's story, the biopic isn't necessarily attempting to glorify or romanticize the villainous man. Instead, it's attempting to convey how someone so rotten and disturbed was able to dupe a nation into thinking he wasn't the mass murderer and rapist he really was.
But here's where I think the message gets lost: the trailer. The tone is too light, we hardly see any of Bundy's reprehensible act, and it leans way too far into the "charming" narrative Bundy himself was trying to spin. A full-length movie has time to play with these nuances, but a trailer does not. Now, we're left with two minutes of footage that looks more like a gleeful romp through a horrifying ordeal that ruined hundreds of lives.
At this point, it should be clear that this whole ordeal is a rather delicate conversation with many levels that is hard to have on a short-form platform like Twitter. People came down hard on the film after the trailer dropped, and I can see why. (And I agree with them! It's not a good look! Do better, trailer makers!) Still, others who have seen the movie at Sundance or even perhaps looked into Bundy's history see the larger point: this is all part of the game. At the end of the day, though, is it worth it to make this point about Bundy and the media's adoration of him? Especially since so many of the victims' families are still around to see this irreverent take on something that may very well still make them shudder and hurt to this very day? That's something you'll have to decide for yourself.
Jane the Virgin's Creator Reveals Why the Show Brought Michael Back From the Dead
The cliffhanger ending of Jane the Virgin's fourth season finale really was, just as the show's Latin Lover Narrator likes to say, straight out of a telenovela: Michael, the supposedly deceased husband of star Gina Rodriguez's titular Jane, seemed to be back from the dead - albeit in a more bearded and burly form.
All of this will most certainly be addressed when The CW show returns for its fifth and final season on March 27. But there is a question of whether this storyline is too extreme, even for a show whose very premise is about a virgin who gets pregnant through an accidental artificial insemination (by her Baby Daddy's sister, no less).
Jennie Snyder Urman, the series' creator, told journalists at the show's Television Critics Association press day on Jan. 31 that she was encouraged to go for the shocking twist by Carolina Rivera. An experienced telenovela writer who also works on the show, Rivera said that this was exactly the kind of thing that happens in this genre. Those who pay attention may have noticed that the writers have been building to this storyline for quite some time. Urman said she "knew it was a trope that we were going to save up till the end," but that it was crucial to do it "in a way that is both believable enough and also true to the tone and the spirit of the show."
Still, this isn't the first time the Jane writers have toyed with Michael's fate. In a 2017 episode, Michael "dies" suddenly when he collapses due to undetected side effects from a gunshot wound he sustains earlier in that season. How does all of this impact Brett Dier, who plays the character?
Snyder said after the panel that "he knew it was a telenovela and there was always a possibility, but I also knew that his death had to land and that the show had to exist without him for a certain amount of time."
Also in on the reveal? Rodriguez herself. She said at the panel that Urman told her the twist way before everyone else knew and then swore her to secrecy.

6 Fast Facts About the Suicide Squad Sequel, From the New Title to the Release Date
The entertainment world has been buzzing about the impending sequel of Suicide Squad. Now that the next installment of the bad-guy epic is on the official calendar of DC Comics releases, Warner Bros. has begun courting a director and breaking ground on the project. With so much up in the air, it's easy to wonder what we do know about the sequel. We did some digging and scraped together as much confirmed and speculative information as we possibly could.
1. The Official Title
Suicide Squad's sequel has officially been titled . . . drum roll, please . . . The Suicide Squad, according to Deadline.
2. James Gunn Is Writing the Script (and Potentially Directing)
Although David Ayer wrote and directed the first film, it seems Warner Bros. may be veering in a different direction for round two. The studio was reportedly courting Mel Gibson for the job at first, but in October, The Wrap reported that Guardians of the Galaxy's James Gunn will take over the script, and possibly direct. Back in July 2018, a right-wing troll began circulating a number of Gunn's old tweets, some of which included distasteful jokes about pedophilia. Although he apologized, Disney fired him from his Marvel gig, so it would be interesting to see how he handles a film in the DCEU, instead. As of right now, a director hasn't been nailed down.
3. David Ayer Likely Won't Return in Any Capacity
In March 2016, The Wrap inadvertently confirmed the sequel during a seemingly innocuous news report. As almost an afterthought, the site mentioned that Suicide Squad 2 was already on Ayer's 2017 schedule. Obviously things have changed since then, and Ayer is busy with the Training Day TV adaptation and the sequel to his fantasy-crime Netflix film, Bright.
4. Most of the Original Cast Will Probably Return
The aforementioned report from The Wrap also mentioned that Suicide Squad's sequel was on Will Smith's schedule as well. Considering he was one of the biggest stars attached to the first film, it would make sense that Warner Bros. would want him to return as Deadshot. Jared Leto, Karen Fukuhara, Joel Kinnaman, and Margot Robbie are also going to come back, especially since the latter is locked in to play Harley Quinn in the Birds of Prey film. Dwayne Johnson is joining the film as well, taking on the role of Black Adam.
5. It Could Be Rated R
In Spring 2016, David Ayer talked about the sequel with MTV News. While the studio definitely aimed for a PG-13 rating on the first one, the second one is up in the air. Ayer remarked that an R stamp "would be worth lobbying for." In light of the runaway success of 2016's Deadpool, which made billions of dollars and became one of the most successful R-rated films of all time, an R-Rated Suicide Squad sequel sounds pretty appealing. Ayer is no longer involved with the project, but let's hope the studio still decides to take it in that direction.
6. Jay Hernandez May Not Be Gone Forever
Even though El Diablo goes out with a pretty epic blaze of glory in the first film, actor Jay Hernandez told ComicBook that the character could still return somehow. "Of course there is [a chance he could return]! I'm not saying anything, just that it's a possibility." Considering Superman kind of, sort of dies in Batman v. Superman but also seems to have somehow come back from the dead to appear in the Justice League films, nothing is out of the question.
Justin Timberlake Literally Fell to the Floor Over This Surprise Performance For His Birthday
Justin Timberlake may have had to work on his 38th birthday as his Man of the Woods tour continues, but the post-show party was worth the wait. He and a bunch of his friends got together at The Grill in NYC after Justin's Madison Square Garden concert on Thursday, and someone who he wasn't expecting showed up as a huge surprise: Mase, aka one of JT's favorite rappers ever. When the rapper walked in, the crowd parted for his entrance, and a visibly shocked Justin literally fell to the floor with a smile across his face.
Justin has been open about the fact that his two favorite rappers are Mase and André 3000, and even Jessica Biel knows without a doubt. Mase's surprise performance was captured on video, and it's adorable to see Justin's reaction. Despite the slightly less eventful birthday date night when Jessica fell asleep in the car, it looks like Justin's birthday celebrations turned out alright. Watch the video ahead, and see a few other snaps captured by Questlove at the party.

Having This 1 Thing in Common Makes Meghan Markle's Relationship With Camilla So Special
Getting along with your in-laws is always hard, but it's especially difficult when your father-in-law is the heir apparent to the British throne. Luckily, Meghan Markle has gotten along famously with Prince Charles since she joined the royal family in May 2018, and the Duchess of Sussex has won the hearts of several other new family members as well. Meghan and Prince William seem to have a solid relationship, and it's well reported that Meghan and her sister-in-law Kate Middleton are close as well. She's even earned the affection of the queen, which is no easy feat. But the question remains: how well does Meghan get along with Prince Harry's stepmother, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall?
We know that William and Harry have an amicable relationship with Camilla after an understandably rocky start, and just as with Charles, it has been said that there is obvious affection shared between Meghan and Camilla as well. "They clearly really like each other," a close family friend confirmed. "There is real warmth and support. Camilla has been very helpful to Meghan." Camilla has a track record for getting along well with her stepdaughters-in-law, as seen by her close relationship with Kate Middleton, so it only makes sense that she would extend the same affection to Meghan.
Before tying the knot with Harry, Camilla reportedly helped to ease Meghan's prewedding jitters with an intimate one-on-one lunch at Clarence House. We imagine that Camilla can relate to the feeling of being an outsider (both women are divorcées, making their second marriages into royalty pretty taboo for the queen) so it's no surprise that she would go out of her way to make Meghan feel welcome in her very intimidating new family. Meghan has even been said to admire the way Camilla managed to change the public's perception of her over the years and that Camilla's guidance has helped Meghan to get through the first few months of her new life as a royal.
Photos of the two also speak for themselves, as whenever the pair is photographed together, it's pretty clear that they enjoy each other's company. At Prince Charles's 70th birthday celebration in May 2018, they shared a laugh as Harry was attacked by a rogue bee during his speech. Kust a few weeks later at Meghan's first Trooping the Colour ceremony, she and Camilla could be seen gabbing away on the Buckingham Palace balcony. As well as cracking up together, the two are often physically affectionate as well, speaking closely and grabbing each other's hands in excitement. Check out the gallery ahead to see the two duchesses hitting it off for yourself.
8 Things You Should Know About the Late Princess Margaret
Long before Princess Diana was the "people's princess" embroiled in scandal and Princess Charlotte was giving the best face, Princess Margaret was the "spare" royal grabbing headlines. The Queen's younger sister was famous (or infamous, depending on who you asked) for her messy love life, a series of scandals, her fabulous style, and her love for a serious party. While viewers of the Netflix drama The Crown know some of the facts of Princess Margaret's life - or at least a fictionalized version of her life - most people probably don't know much about the princess. For some of the basics about Princess Margaret, plus some fun facts you probably didn't know (and some amazing pictures), click through the gallery below.

What You Need to Know About Fauna Hodel, the Inspiration Behind I Am the Night
If you're looking for a chilling thriller to help you avoid the chilly weather, I Am the Night might be just what the doctor ordered. The six-part TNT miniseries stars Chris Pine and portrays the real-life events of the 1947 Black Dahlia murder - but that's just the beginning.
If you're not familiar with the story, then you probably want a little background before you start watching. Nicknamed "the Black Dahlia," Elizabeth Short was a 22-year-old waitress and aspiring actress living in Los Angeles when she was found brutally murdered in a vacant lot near Leimert Park in 1947, her body cut in half and severely mutilated. The Black Dahlia's killer was never found, making her murder one of the oldest, most infamous cold case files in Los Angeles history.
Chris Pine's I Am the Night character - a reporter named Jay Singletary investigating the case - is totally fictional, but the story is not, and neither is one of the other supporting characters: Fauna Hodel.
Portrayed by India Eisley (who is best known for playing Ashley Juergens in the ABC drama The Secret Life of the American Teenager), Fauna Hodel was the granddaughter of Dr. George Hodel, a physician considered a suspect in Elizabeth Short's murder case. However, Fauna never knew her grandfather, as her mother, Tamar Hodel, gave her up for adoption in 1951, four years after the Black Dahlia's murder, when Tamar was only 16. According to Tamar, Fauna was the product of a sexual assault, and though the father was white, Tamar listed Fauna's father as being black on her birth certificate in order to "ensure that the child would never return to [her] emotionally reclusive white family."
Before Jimmie Lee Greenwade (a black restroom attendant at a Nevada casino) took over Fauna's care, George Hodel insisted she be named Fauna - which is from the same Robinson Jeffers poem where Tamar got her name - and that she not be legally adopted.

Raised by the name Pat, Fauna grew up caught between identities, unsure of her race, and hoping to learn about her biological family. She also developed a trying relationship with her adoptive mother, who struggled with alcoholism that forced the family into poverty. In 1972, Fauna was able to track down her mother, which is when she learned her family's dark past. After Tamar insisted during her 1949 testimony that her father was almost definitely guilty of the Black Dahlia murder, George fled to Asia, where he remained until 1990, but was never found guilty.
In 2008, long before her death in 2017 due to cancer, Fauna wrote a memoir, One Day She'll Darken (pictured above), which focuses on the story of her falsely identified racial background rather than her connection to the Black Dahlia case (and which was originally going to be the name for the TNT series rather than I Am the Night).
However, in the TV series, reporter Jay connects with Fauna after receiving an anonymous tip, hoping to learn about her supposed connection to the murder. Though the real-life Fauna didn't live to see the series, her daughter Rasha Percoraro seems to fully support it, even posting a photo of herself with India Eisley and director Patty Jenkins. She's also cohosting a podcast, Root of Evil, as a companion to the series.
Helen Mirren Reveals Prince Harry's "Insulting" Nickname For Her, Praises Meghan Markle
Helen Mirren may have played royalty in her Oscar-winning role as Queen Elizabeth II in 2006's The Queen, but that certainly hasn't interfered with her real-life relationship with the British royal family. On Thursday, the actress made a special appearance on Good Morning Britain to help with the launch of this year's Prince's Trust Mentor of the Year award, revealing some fun tidbits about Prince Harry and Prince William. When asked if Prince Charles has ever spoken to her about playing his mom in the film, Helen said no, but that Harry and William have "been very funny and very cool about it." She even revealed the "insulting" nickname Harry once called her (which you can find out in the video below).
Helen also took a moment to praise Meghan Markle and applaud her for dealing with the pressures that come with becoming a royal. "I think right from the moment that relationship was revealed, she conducted herself with incredible self-restraint, elegance, discipline, and simplicity and humanity," she said. "I was an admirer . . . it's an incredibly difficult life to lead, talk about pressure. I think she is doing it with great elegance."
Helen is an ambassador of Charles' Prince's Trust, and in 2017, the actress teamed up with L'Oréal Paris to launch their "All Worth It" campaign. The initiative "aims to turn self-doubt into self-worth." "Overcoming self-doubt is a journey and I am truly happy to see L'Oréal Paris partnering with The Prince's Trust to help many young people who don't believe in themselves," Helen said in a statement. "We have a responsibility towards this generation to lead by example in what we say, how we act, and what we do. I wholeheartedly support this initiative."
Did Nicki Minaj Take a Shot at Drake in Her Latest Music Video? We'll Let You Decide
Nicki Minaj's video for her song "Hard White" has everything we'd expect from the 36-year-old rapper: sex appeal, artistic shots, and all sorts of theatrics. Naturally, it's entertaining. Minaj sports a spiked crown as she takes the throne and raps about being the best while religious symbolism flashes across the screen.
But one scene in particular has caused a bit of stir, and it has to do with Minaj's old friend Drake. Back in December, fans noticed that the two rappers weren't following each other on Instagram anymore and began to wonder if they had a falling out. Neither one of them have explicitly said anything about each other, so are they good? Is everything OK over there, y'all? It's hard to know for sure. See if you can spot the detail that suggests Minaj threw shade at her (former?) Canadian pal in the video above. It's a real stinger - yes, that was a hint.
