In a Statement Defending Trump Jr., Donald Trump Bizarrely Called Him a "High-Quality Person"
Some might use the words high quality to describe a new dishwasher or office snack. But for President Donald Trump, the phrase is apparently a fitting way to describe his family, including his son Donald Trump Jr. On July 11, Trump Jr. posted personal emails about a planned meeting with a Russian lawyer promising damaging information on Hillary Clinton in an effort to head off a New York Times story at the pass. Shortly after, the president released a statement defending him. "My son is a high-quality person," he said, "and I applaud his transparency." The internet promptly turned it into a meme.
People were confused as to why Trump would refer to his son in this manner.
"High-quality" is how you talk about wood flooring, not your son.

Yoni Appelbaum, the Washington bureau chief of The Atlantic, pointed out that Trump has previously used the same phrase to describe both his wife, Melania Trump, and his daughter Ivanka Trump.
