Mickey Mouse's "Adoption Day" Surprise For 2 Kids Shows the Real Magic of Disney
Mickey Mouse has been bringing the magic since 1928, but he arguably just delivered his most magical performance when he helped to surprise 12-year-old Janielle and 10-year-old Elijah with the news of their official adoption. After living with Tom and Courtney Gilmour for three years, the siblings were brought on their first ever trip to Disney, where they were told they'd be meeting Mickey for an autograph - but the real reason was so much better.
The loveable mouse had more than just a signature to offer them, as he entertained them with a card trick and made them giggle during photos with his different types of cheese exclamations. The real magic, however, came when he informed the two kids that he had a surprise for them, and his assistant held up a sign that said: "Your Adoption Day Will Be May 24th, 2017." Both Elijah and Janielle instantly broke down into tears - as did the rest of the room and most likely the human inside the Mickey costume.
"Disney offered a special meet and greet with Mickey so he could let them know their adoption date," Courtney wrote on Facebook. "The kids had no idea any of this was happening. They just thought they were getting their books signed. This went better than we had hoped. They were beyond shocked and we were beyond emotional. We were very lucky to have Aunt Vicki there to film it! *side note* have tissues when watching PURE DISNEY MAGIC!"
