The 1 Thing Will and Kate Must Do When They First See the Queen

Kate Middleton and Prince William joined Queen Elizabeth II for Easter service in Windsor, England, earlier this month, but before they made their way inside the church, Will and Kate made sure to curtsy and bow to the queen. According to royal etiquette rules, the monarchy suggests women do a small curtsy and men do a neck bow (from the head only) when greeting the royal family (although other people "prefer simply to shake hands in the usual way"), and those same rules apply to Will and Kate. Will must bow and Kate must curtsy to the queen if it's the first time in the day they are seeing her. The curtsy should be subtle, but the longer Kate pauses shows more respect and formality. While there's no law that enforces this rule, many British subjects follow it to keep with tradition and as a sign of respect.
