This Viral Photo of 2 Families Interacting on the Subway Is the Best Thing on the Internet
The subways of New York City are typically comparable to a can of sardines: jam-packed, smelly, and generally unpleasant. But just two days before the Fourth of July this year, one particular train proved to be quite the opposite when the sweetest darn interaction took place on board. It's sure to melt your cold, cold heart.

Rachel MacKnight was riding the C train when she witnessed two families that appeared to be from different backgrounds sharing a heartwarming moment together. She quickly snapped a photo of the interaction, in which the two families smiled at each other, and shared it on Twitter. "Taken today on the C Train. Thiiiiiis is what makes America great. Happy 4th of July, y'all," the caption read.
Since then, the photo has rapidly taken over the internet. Rachel's photo received more than 17,000 retweets and 69,000 likes, and it was also shared on other sites like Imgur and Reddit. On top of that, hundreds of Twitter users replied to her tweet, offering up their candid reactions to the brief yet moving moment she captured.
