You Need to See What 1 Stranger Did When a Boy With Autism Had a Midflight Meltdown
Everyone loves a story with a good samaritan, and a woman from North Carolina who rushed to a boy with autism's aid midflight is no exception.
Rochel Groner's husband, Bentzion Groner, shared the good deed in a blog post on July 14 that showed a photo of her cradling a young boy in her arms.
Groner described the intense situation that ensued on their long international flight: "About an hour into the eight-hour flight, one of the young passengers, a little boy with autism, started to have a meltdown. His cries were heard throughout the plane, and you could feel the tension among the other passengers."
The situation was compounded by the fact that their flight from Belgium to Newark, NJ, was delayed by three hours to begin with.
After the boy had been crying for about 15 minutes, Rochel decided to take action. She got up from her seat, put out her hand, and took the distressed child to the bulkhead where she rocked him for several hours.
The sweet post ends with Bentzion writing that this type of behavior isn't out of the ordinary for his wife, "While most of the passengers watched on with awe, little did they know that for Rochel, this is her life."
