I'll admit, before last year, I was never one to be keen on train travel. Sure, I loved the idea of having more leg-room and being able to pack more than 3.4-ounces of liquid in my carry-on, but the overall efficiency of flying always won me over. That is, until I climbed aboard the Bernina Express to make the journey across the Swiss/Italian Alps.
Arguably one of the the most scenic railway routes of all time, this train tugged at my heart strings in ways I didn't even know were possible. Thanks to the 55 winding tunnels, 196 bridges, and the blissful blend of lush countryside and icy glaciers, this thrilling four-hour ride opened my eyes to an entirely new way of travel.
